THEME SONG
EPISODE 1: PUPPY TAILS
(RUNNING PAWS)
ROSIE:
Todays the day! Si Señor! We are getting a visitor for me!
(PANTING)
RUBIX
Who would want to visit you?
KITTEN
Rubix, that is not nice!
RUBIX:
News flash. I am not nice.
KITTEN:
(SIGH)
You could at least try.
RUBIX:
Why? She is preventing me from getting my day sleep. That is not nice.
ROSIE:
You can meet my visitor too Kitten. You like other dogs right?
KITTEN
Tell me about your visitor, Rosie. I have met many nice dogs, like you and Loki... Jack did not really like me but I don't think he liked any cats.
ROSIE:
True. Jack was set in his ways.
SHAKING HEAD COLLAR RATTLE
Yeah... he did not like cats. Anyway the mom person told me that Xander is bringing home a puppy for me to play with!
KITTEN:
A puppy? Are we getting a new family member?
ROSIE:
No.... No I don’t think so. The mom person just said I was getting a visitor. Visitors don't join familia. right?
RUBIX:
OH puppies are bad news.
LAUGHS
Maybe they are going to replace you.
ROSIE:
What?! That's not true. I'm irreplaceable. I can't be replaced can I?
SFX: OMINOUS NOISE
KITTEN:
Of course not. Don't worry Rosie. Rubix is just messing with you. Remember when Maddox brought home her class pet S 'mores and I thought I would be replaced? Clucky assured me that I was not going to be replaced and he was right. He said being in this family, was like getting, a scar.
SFX: SHING AND OH OW NOISE
Once, its on you, it's not going away.
ROSIE:
I did not get a scar when I joined the family.
RUBIX:
Me either. Did they scar you Kitten? Is it ugly? Can I see it?
SFX: PHYCHO NOISE AND RECORD SCRATCH
KITTEN:
What? No! I don't have a scar! It was a metaphor that Clucky used.
RUBIX:
Meteor? The rooster has a Space rock?
SFX: METEOR
Does it have powers?
SFX: POWERS
KITTEN:
No metaphor. its a figure of speech used to compare two unlike thing to highlight their similarities or ways they are the same.
ROSIE:
OH so Clucky compared the family to a scar because once you have a scar it does not go away and once you are in the family you are here to stay. That’s how a scar and family are similar they stick around.
KITTEN:
Exactly Rosie!
RUBIX:
It would have been better if the Rooster had a space rock.
SFX: POWERS
Maybe it would grant me powers to make you two go away so I could sleep.
KITTEN:
OH Rubix, you could just ask us politely to go upstairs so you could rest..
RUBIX:
Hamsters of Doom...
SFX: HOD
do not ask politely.
KITTEN:
(SIGH)
I wish Clucky has not given you that nickname. Come on Rosie let’s go tell Clucky about your visitor.
MUSIC TRANISTION
SFX: DOOR OPENS
MOM:
Hi Rosie! Are you excited? Your visitor is here! Come on let’s go outside and meet him. He’s very young and we don’t want him to have an accident on the floor because he was so excited to meet you.
ROSIE:
Ok, out to the side yard! Kitten are you coming? He’s here! I’m so excited!
KITTEN
Meow, you go ahead, I’ll wait in here. I think it’s probably best for you two to meet first.
SFX: SLIDING DOOR
XANDER:
Look Maddox, I think Rosie likes him.
MADDOX:
How can you tell? She is just running in circles around the yard.
XANDER:
Not exactly, she runs up to the puppy, gives him a quick sniff and then runs around the edge of the fenced yard and circles back to him.
MADDOX:
I wonder if she is trying to get him to chase her. The little guy looks a bit confused, like he does not know what to do. He’s pretty clumsy too. He has really big paws and sometimes trips over them and does a little face plant into the ground.
XANDER:
He’s not that little. He’s 9 weeks old and already as big as Rosie. I hope he gets huge!
MOM:
Well he is your new dog, you will have to take care of him, no matter what size he is.
XANDER:
I know Mom! It’s going to be great! He will sleep in my room and I’ll take care of him, just like Maddox takes care of Kitten.
PANTING AND RUNNING FROM ROSIE
ROSIE:
Ruff ruff! Ha ha! I’m so fast! Are you even going to try and catch me?
LINK:
Hey Boss, Why are you running so fast?
ROSIE:
Oh, I thought you wanted to play chase? Do you like chase? It’s one of my favorite games.
LINK:
I don’t think I have ever played chase. My brothers, sisters and I were not very fast. If I get going to fast, I sometimes tip over, so I move much slower than you.
ROSIE:
It sounds to me like you just need more practice. Then you can be muy rapido like me!
LINK:
Muy rapido? Is that something to eat Boss?
ROSIE:
What? No Silly, it means really fast in Spanish.
LINK:
What is Spanish, Boss?
ROSIE:
You don’t know what Spanish is?
LINK:
Nope, never heard of it Boss. Is it something to eat?
ROSIE:
What? No. Do you think everything is something to eat?
LINK:
Umm no Boss. I know we can’t eat everything. Some things give you tummy troubles so that’s why I ask. I have a lot to learn, I’m only 2 months old. There is a lot I don’t know.
ROSIE:
You are only 2 months old? You are as big as me. Aye yai yai
I don’t like that. How big are you going to get?
LINK:
Don’t know Boss. So is Spanish food? I’m always hungry.
ROSIE:
No Spanish is not food. It is a language.
LINK:
What’s a language Boss?
ROSIE:
It is what we are speaking now. The words we are saying. All the words make up a language.
LINK:
So are we speaking Spanish Boss?
ROSIE:
What? No. We are speaking English. It’s the language that our family speaks, but my Mom and Dad were from Puerto Rico and they spoke another language called Spanish. I remember many of the words from when I was a young pup and like to add them in here and there.
LINK:
Cool, Boss!
ROSIE:
Why do you keep calling me Boss?
LINK:
I call everyone Boss, cause everyone is older than me and my Mom told me it was nice to show respect to those who are older than me.
ROSIE:
But what if you don’t know if someone is older than you? Will you still call them Boss?
LINK:
Probably. It’s still nice to show respect. It also reminds me that I have a lot to learn and can always learn something from others. I’m glad you stopped running so much. I was getting a little dizzy with all the circles you ran.
ROSIE:
Do you want to play chase now?
LINK:
How do you play, Boss?
ROSIE:
I run and you try to catch me.
LINK:
Ok, When do we...
ROSIE:
Go Now! Try to get me...
LINK:
Ruff! I’m coming!
XANDER:
Ha! Look at that, Link is running after Rosie. Come on Boy! You can get her. Oh no, he tripped.
It’s ok Buddy. You don’t have to be as fast as Rosie. Want to go in for a little break? Come on follow me inside.
SFX: SLIDING DOOR & FEET AND PAW NOISES
KITTEN:
Hey Rosie, up here in the cat tree. So how is it going with the new guy?
ROSIE:
It’s really fun! He is not very fast but he told me he is only 2 months old. He’s a bit clumsy but look at the size of his paws! It was a fun visit!
XANDER:
Come on Link, over here. Here is your water bowl.
LINK:
(PANTING)
Oh water! Thank you boss!
LAPPING WATER NOISES
XANDER:
LAUGHING
Is any water getting into your mouth? You are really making a mess.
KITTEN:
Are you sure he is just visiting? Xander gave him his own water bowl.
ROSIE:
Of Course, Xander knows I don’t like to share my water, plus look who messy he is. They can’t really be thinking of keeping him.
MOM:
Xander, why don’t you take Link downstairs and show him where he will be sleeping.
XANDER:
Ok, Mom. He looks like he could use a bit of a rest.
KITTEN:
Sleeping?
ROSIE:
He’s just taking a nap... I’m sure that’s what it is...
MUSIC TRANSITION
WALKING THROUGH THE BUSHES
XANDER:
You are going to love Clucky and the hens Link. It’s not too much further down to the coop.
LINK:
Ruff! I’m coming Boss!
SNIFFING
So many interesting smells out here.
BUSHES RUSTLING AND FLAPPING
CLUCKY:
Cock-a-doodle doo! I hear Xander coming! I think he has something with him. I wonder if that is the visitor Kitten & Rosie mentioned.
BRIDGET:
It looks like a black and white fluff ball about the size of Rosie bouncing next to him.
BELLA:
Oh no!
SFX (CARTOON FALL)
Did he just fall?
GIGGLES
It looks like he is back up again.
XANDER:
Hi Clucky and Ladies! I want you to meet Link Thor! He is the newest member of our family!
LOTS OF SURPRISED BAWKING
CLUCKY:
New family member? What?!
BRIGITTA:
Look at the cute little fur ball! Oh my he just tripped over his paws.
BRIDGET:
I can see why, they look a bit big for his body.
BELLA:
Well that is certainly a surprise! Why does he have a cord tied to his collar?
LINK:
Ruff! Oh Hello Boss and Ladies! The cord is my leash. Is so Xander can show me the way and I don’t wonder off. This is all so new and I get easily distracted.
XANDER:
Ok, Link Stay calm, I am going to open the coop door and let the chickens out. That way you can greet each other nose to beak. Don’t jump on them ok?
DOOR OPENS FLAPPING
MUSIC STARTS
LINK:
Oh this is so exciting!
LOTS OF CLUCKING, FLAPPING AND COMMOTION!
CLUCKY:
He’s coming in fast!
LINK:
Oh who should I sniff first!
MORE BAWKING AND FLAPPING
Wait! Why are you flapping away?
BRIDGET:
Get your nose out of there!
LINK:
I get to greet you first...
CLUCKY:
Back off!
LINK:
No, wait maybe you...
BRIGITTA:
Oh, I don’t like this!
XANDER:
Link slow down, you are running all around you are going to get your leash tangled
BRIGITTA:
Bawk! Help! I’m caught! Ghastly beast!
FLAPPING
Ahhh! It’s wrapped around my neck!
COUGHING
I think he’s trying to kill me!
GASPING
BELLA:
Oh No! Stop running puppy! Brigitta is caught!
XANDER:
No Link! Stop moving.
BRIDGET:
Brigitta, How did that happen?
MORE COUGHING AND SLUTTERING
CLUCKY:
Cock-doodle doo! Everyone just stay calm!
EVERYTHING STOPS
LINK:
I’m so sorry Boss! I’ll just lay down.
WHIMPER
I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to hurt you.
XANDER:
Ok, Link good boy just lay down there and don’t move. I’m going to untangle Brigitta.
BRIGITTA:
COUGHING AND SPLUTTERING
Oh I’m dying. I see the light.
BRIDGET:
You are looking up at the sun...
XANDER:
It’s ok Girl, I’ll get you untangled. Just hold still
MORE COUGHING & FLAPPING FROM BRIGITTA
BRIGITTA:
HUGE DEEP BREATH
I can breathe again! I’m seeing spots.
BELLA:
Are you ok?
BRIGITTA:
I don’t know. Oh my feathers are a complete mess!
BRIDGET:
She’s fine she is worrying about her feathers.
CLUCKY:
Why don’t you go in the coop and rest for a bit Brigitta.
BELLA:
I’ll come with you incase you need help.
BRIGITTA:
Thank you Bella. At least someone cares for my well being.
BRIDGET:
I care but I don’t think you were really in that much danger.
BRIGITTA:
Easy for you to say, you were not the one it happened to!
XANDER:
Looks like the two hens are going in for a little rest. Sorry Link that was a little more dramatic than I was expecting. I did not think you leash would get tangled around them. You are doing a good job of laying down. You stay there and I’ll bring Clucky over.
BUSHES RUSSLING
Come on Clucky, I’m carry you over to meet Link. Try not to flap too much. We don’t want him to get too excited. I really want you two to be friends.
CLUCKY:
Brawk! I’ll do if for you Xander.
BUSHES RUSSLING
Ok, no sudden movements pup.
LINK:
I’m so sorry Boss. It was an accident. I seem to have a lot of those. I’ll be good.
XANDER:
Good job Link, you are being really good just laying there and wagging your tail. Clucky, I’m going to place you down by Link so he can sniff you. Link, just stay calm.
LINK:
Yep Boss, I’ll just stay here.
SNIFFING
Oh my you smell good!
CLUCKY:
Brawk! What do you mean I smell good?! I’m not your dinner. Xander has taught me teakwondo! Whaaa I can use it on you if I need to!
XANDER:
Whoah What’s going on Clucky? Why are you in a fighting stance?
LINK:
No, I just meant you smelled good like the outdoors and like a friend, not like I wanted to eat you.
CLUCKY:
Alrighty... We shall see. So Link is it?
LINK:
Yeah Link Thor! Xander named me after Link in Zelda and Thor the God of Thunder from Norse Mythology.
CLUCKY:
That’s a really cool name!
XANDER:
Well you two look like you are getting along ok. Why don’t the 3 of us go do a perimeter check?
MUSIC TRANSITION
SFX: SCRATCHING PILLOW NOISES
KITTEN:
Wow, Roșie, you are really digging at that pillow. What’s up?
ROSIE:
Ugh! He is the worst! He’s like Hey Boss this and Boss look at that! Why doesn’t he just go home already?
KITTEN:
Rosie, this is his home. He is Xander’s puppy. Here is here to stay.
ROSIE:
What?! No, no no no. That’s can’t be! No, there must be a mistake. They can’t replace Captain Jack.
KITTEN:
Rosie, Jack passed away over a year ago. I don’t think the family is trying to replace him they just like adding to the family and Xander wanted a puppy. He wanted a big dog to run around with him in the woods.
ROSIE:
He’s not much bigger than me. I can run around with Xander...
KITTEN:
He’s not much bigger than you yet but Rosie he is only 2 months old and his paws are huge. He is going to be a big dog.
ROSIE:
He’s going to get bigger?
KITTEN:
Haven’t you noticed how much he has grown since they brought him home? He’s almost doubled in size in just a few weeks.
ROSIE:
Oh maybe he will get too big follow me under the couch. Doesn’t he realize I go there to get away from him?
KITTEN:
He is very young, I doubt it. He looks up to you Rosie and wants to do all the things that you do.
ROSIE:
He does not look up to me. We were eye to eye the day he came and now he’s a whole head taller than me.
KITTEN:
I meant he admires you. He wants to be like you. Why do you dislike him so much?
ROSIE:
SIGH
No lo sé, I don’t know... I just feel like they are trying to replace me. Everyone is so excited about Link. Everything he does is so cute (over emphasize) and I am not noticed as much. Yesterday, I was playing with the Dad person and my rope toy and then he came along and wanted to play. I growled at him and was like stay back this is my toy... and the Dad person told me to be nice. He said I needed to SHARE! Share my toy?! It’s always been my toy. Jack never tried to play with my toy.
KITTEN:
Rosie, he is a puppy and curious about everything. Of course he wants to play with you and your toys. He loves everything about you. Have you tried talking to him since the first day?
ROSIE:
Of course I talk to him. I tell him not to eat my food, leave my toys alone, don’t take my chew stick, get off my cushion....I’m constantly talking to him about what not to do. It’s exhausting!
BIG SIGH
You are so lucky you have a mini gate on your door to keep him out of Maddox’s room and away from your food.
KITTEN:
That is not what I meant. Have you asked him questions? Have you tried to get to know him?
ROSIE:
Get to know him? I don't want to get to know him. I want him to go away. I don't want to share.
KITTEN:
He lives here now and I think the sooner you accepted the better off you’re going to be. Why does he bother you so much? You barked at me at the beginning but once you found out, I was here for Maddox, you totally changed and we're very nice to me. You asked me questions and wanted to get to know me. Why aren't you doing the same with him?
ROSIE:
Ugh
SIGH
It's not the same. You're not a dog. I don't have to share my toys or chew sticks with you. You never try and take my toy. You don't try to eat my food. You don't sniff me all the time and want to play.
KITTEN:
But you love to play and now you have somebody who wants to play with you all the time, why is that a problem?
ROSIE:
It's because everything he does the family thinks it's just so cute. I used to be the cute one and now he's taking over. What if the family gets rid of me?
KITTEN:
We've been over this. The family is not gonna get rid of you. Once you're in your in, remember, just like a scar.
ROSIE:
You say that but are you sure? I seem to be getting in trouble all the time now.
KITTEN:
Why don't we try a little experiment?
ROSIE:
What do you mean experiment like we open up the gate and see if he runs away? Maybe another family wants him.
KITTEN:
No, of course not! Xander would be so sad. I mean, let's try and experiment where you try to be nice to Link and see if you keep feeling like you're getting in trouble.
ROSIE:
You think I'm getting in trouble because I'm growling at the puppy?
KITTEN:
I think so. What if you try to act like a big sister to him? Show him the ropes maybe give him one of your toys... it might keep him away from the rest of them. You've tried growling at him and that doesn't seem to be working, so maybe you should change your tactics.
ROSIE:
Now I have to do taxes? I thought only people did those!
KITTEN:
Tactics not taxes. It's a short series of actions in order to achieve or accomplish a short term goal.
ROSIE:
Humm...Giving him one of my toys might keep him away from my other ones.... that idea is pretty good. You're right Kitten I need to take control of the situation. I have this old rope toy that I've never liked the feel of, I think I'll give him that one.
KITTEN:
Well, it's a start.
ROSIE:
I think I'm gonna go find him you're right I need to change my taxes, I mean tactics!
