GROUNDED 5786: "Grounded In Love"
When the winds of culture push harder, what actually keeps us from drifting? We explore a simple, stubborn answer: stay anchored in love. Rooted in the Hebrew year 5786—a call to anchor—and guided by 1 Corinthians 13, we unpack why love is not just an emotion or ideal but the strongest peg in the ground when life tries to pull us loose.
We talk about love as patient and kind, not because it avoids truth but because it refuses to weaponize it. Grace, not fear, changes hearts. That means we don’t overlook sin; we seek to heal it. We look at the ancient imagery of the tent peg, the hook that keeps a home from blowing away, and apply it to our spiritual lives: to be kept, guarded, and clothed in Christ when outrage and hurry run the day. Love always protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres—habits that train us to choose people over points, restoration over humiliation, and presence over performance.
We also get practical. “Keep yourselves in the love of God” becomes a daily practice of refusing conditional love: not needing to win, be louder, or prove we’re right before we choose to care. As a preview of where we’re going next, we set patience at the front of the line. Love isn’t in a rush, but our culture is, and that friction exposes what we’re anchored to. If you’ve felt pushed, pulled, or tempted to drift, this conversation is a gentle tent peg in the ground—an invitation to hold fast, love well, and become a shelter for others.
If this resonates, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs a steady word today, and leave a review so more people can find these grounded conversations.

I'm continuing with this series that's been in my spirit called Ground and Grounded 5786. It's the year of the anchor, and as we consider this in this new Hebrew year of 5786, the Lord is really having me lean into different elements of anchoring. What does it look like to be anchored? Another way to be anchored is to be grounded. It means that you're settled, you're established, you're not blowing in the wind and kind of being moved by the culture of the day. And today I want to talk about being grounded in love. We're going to talk, of course, in uh 1 Corinthians 13. And it says, beginning in verse 4, love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. So why am I talking about grounded in general? Why am I talking about love? Jesus is love. And if we are to be like him, we have to operate in love. And all of these elements of love need to be our passion because it's his passion. The Bible talks about it's the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. It wasn't your fear of hell, hopefully, that brought you to Jesus, but the fact that he was providing grace, undeserved forgiveness, undeserved favor, undeserved love, undeserved. It's not dependent on our activity. God is concerned with the heart. I had to say that again because in this hour we're in, there are a lot of voices and there are a lot of things that are pulling at you. And we need to stay centered. We need to be anchored. The anchor comes from the valve that is the number six in Hebrew, and it represents a hook or a tent peg. A tent peg is what? Something that keeps the tent from blowing away in the wind. So in ancient Hebrew scripture, that imagery is connected to that number six, which is in the year 5786. It's a year to be anchored, to be kept, to be guarded in Christ, to be clothed in Christ, to be centered on Jesus, and Jesus is love. God is love. Love never fails. We are in a culture, in a season where people think that answers are coming from somewhere else. They're coming from something other than love, somewhere other than Christ. We need to stay in love. The Bible says they will know you if you love one another. They will know your mind. They will know me by how you love one another. Love does not mean we oversee sin. It doesn't mean we overlook sin, I should say. It means that we seek to heal it. Love redeems. The Bible says that love covers a multitude of sins, covers it, doesn't put it on display. There's a way called love, there's an activity that looks like love. Love is Jesus Christ. And so I just want to keep it simple and make it very short today as I'm trying to make all of these short. Stay in love. The Bible says in the book of Jude, keep yourselves in the love of God. Guard yourself by staying in the love that is Jesus. Jesus defines a specific type of love that no one else can define, and that is unconditional love. To love like him is to love without conditions. You don't have to win. You don't have to be heard. You don't have to be louder or proven right. You love because you love the person. You love because you want the person to be touched. You want them to experience heaven. I pray that you stay in love. We're gonna examine a few of these elements in our future grounded um teachings. And we're gonna start with patience. I pray you come back for that because love's not in a rush. But yet our culture is, and so we can't be like the culture. I pray this blesses you in Jesus' name. Until next time.
