AI-leen: If you're curious about what's going on, stick around. We're sharing highlights from the city's weekly email updates, and anyone can sign up at elkgrove.gov to get these every Monday.

AI-den: On today's episode, we'll walk you through the Paint The Grove Mural Festival, Pride Month celebrations, pet adoptions, family events, entrepreneur opportunities, and the brand new Main Street Marketplace.

AI-leen: Let's kick things off with a splash of color because Paint The Grove is painting the town, literally.

AI-den: Historic Main Street is transforming this week thanks to talented muralists from all over the country. Paint The Grove- Elk Grove’s first ever Mural Festival is happening right now with Talking Walls curating the magic.

AI-leen: You’ll see artists live painting along Elk Grove Boulevard between Elk Grove-Florin Road and Waterman Road.

It’s basically an open-air gallery in the making, and the excitement builds up to a walking mural tour starting at 9:00 AM this Saturday at Old Town Plaza.

AI-den: What’s cool is after the tour, the artists go head-to-head in a mural battle from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and visitors get to help choose their favorite.

It’s a rare chance to see creativity in action from blank walls to vibrant stories.

AI-leen: If you want even more, you can follow the journey on Instagram and discover the artists, their styles, and the story behind each mural. It’s definitely a week to explore, connect, and celebrate art in the community.

AI-den: Switching gears, June is Pride Month, and Elk Grove is showing its support loud and proud. City Hall is flying the Progress Pride flag all month, which signals a commitment to welcoming everyone.

AI-leen: It’s not just about the flag either. The city recognizes the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, and there’s an invitation for everyone to join the celebration at Sacramento Pride on Sunday, June 14.

March with Elk Grove and be part of a bigger movement.

AI-den: I love how visible and inclusive the city’s efforts are. It makes a difference when people see their community standing by them, especially during Pride Month.

AI-leen: That energy really carries through the city’s events this month, art, pride, and now onto pets.

Let’s talk about how you could meet your new best friend this weekend.

AI-den: This Saturday, the Elk Grove Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees as part of California’s Adopt a Pet Day. From noon to 5:30 PM, you can find cats, dogs, and even small animals, all breeds and ages looking for homes.

AI-leen: Plus, there will be over 10 pet-friendly vendors and rescue partners at the shelter showing off adoptable critters and sharing tips.

Imagine walking in at 9150 Union Park Way and leaving with a new furry companion.

AI-den: It’s a lively scene every year, and the waived fee makes it easier for families to welcome a pet. If you’re on the fence, just go soak up the atmosphere, ask questions, and see who tugs at your heartstrings.

AI-leen: It’s all about matching pets to people and making adoption more accessible.

Speaking of family fun, there’s another event coming up at Elk Grove Park that’s sure to get kids excited.

AI-den: Regional Safety Day is happening at Elk Grove Park this Saturday, June 6th from 9:30 to 1:30. It’s free, packed with hands-on experiences like emergency vehicles, demonstrations, and interactive displays.

AI-leen: Cosumnes Fire Department and Kaiser Permanente teamed up to make it engaging for all ages. Kids can climb inside fire trucks, see rescue operations, and meet real-life heroes. It’s not every day you get to touch the tools and hear the stories.

AI-den: It’s a great opportunity to learn about emergency response and public safety in a fun way.

Families can connect with local responders, ask questions, and maybe spark a new interest in their kids.

AI-leen: And after all that excitement, there's also something for local entrepreneurs, a chance to pitch ideas and win big.

AI-den: Pitch Elk Grove 2026 is now accepting applications, and it's open to Northern California innovators.

The event happens September 3, and there's $20,000 in prize money up for grabs.

AI-leen: Anyone with a startup idea can apply online at startupsac.com/pitch-elk-grove until next Monday, June 8. It's a shot at pitching your vision, networking, and getting noticed.

AI-den: Events like this fuel growth and creativity in Elk Grove.

If you have a concept, now's the time to polish your pitch and jump in.

AI-leen: And for folks seeking special gifts or unique finds, Historic Main Street's new marketplace is the next place you'll want to check out.

AI-den: The Main Street Marketplace is now open inside the Explore Elk Grove Visitor Center at 9045 Elk Grove Boulevard, Suite 102.

It's a curated collection of goods from local makers, artisans, and small businesses.

AI-leen: You'll find hand-painted artwork by Annie Peony, craft hot honey from Flatland Brewing Company, and locally roasted coffee beans from Rescate Coffee. It's open weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, perfect for leisurely browsing or gift hunting.

AI-den: Supporting local is more important than ever, and the marketplace is a great way to discover new favorites. You can learn more at exploreelkgrove.com or just stop by and experience it yourself.
