Now, without further ado, let me turn it over to our AI friends for a deeper dive into this week's topics

AI-den: Ever wondered how to keep up with all the fun, news, and events happening right here in Elk Grove without missing a beat? Stick around because we've got the inside scoop this week and it's looking action-packed.

AI-leen: That's what I love about these episodes. I'm excited to dig into everything coming up and share some practical details.

By the end, listeners will know how to get city updates delivered straight to their inbox, plus we'll highlight a handful of can't-miss events and news.

AI-den: So here's our roadmap. We'll kick things off with a special bike rodeo for kids, then dip into a flamenco concert, cover the city's new budget, preview the Run for Hunger, spotlight the spectacular drone show for Independence Day, and wrap up with new ways for youth to ride SacRT for free.

AI-leen: Let's jump right in. This week's lineup really has something for everyone, from families to runners to music lovers.

AI-den: Kicking things off, the city is partnering with SABBA and the California Office of Traffic Safety to host a bike rodeo on Saturday, June 27, at District56. It's all about teaching kids ages 5 to 12 how to ride safely and confidently.

AI-leen: I've seen these rodeos in action. They're fantastic. Certified instructors set up agility courses, and kids get hands-on practice. Plus, it's free to attend, but you need to register online. Families really appreciate that extra emphasis on safety.

AI-den: And it's not just a fun event. It helps build lifelong skills for young riders. Parents, if you want your kids to learn safe cycling, this is the perfect opportunity.

AI-leen: The registration step is important, so head to elkgrove.gov to secure a spot. This is a great way to kickstart summer activities.

AI-den: Now, switching gears literally and figuratively, how about a vibrant flamenco concert? On Sunday, June 28, District56 is hosting an afternoon filled with Spanish music and dance, featuring artists like Jimmy Ramos and Angela Arteritano.

AI-leen: Flamenco is such an expressive art form. Live music, passionate dance, and vocals, it's a feast for the senses. I love that Elk Grove is bringing in national talent for this city-sponsored event.

AI-den: Tickets are available online, so if you haven't seen flamenco up close, this is your chance. Plus, it's a great way to experience Spanish culture right in our backyard.

AI-leen: It's exciting to see the city supporting arts and culture. Events like this make the community feel vibrant and connected.

AI-den: That actually reminds me, there's important news from City Hall this week. The Elk Grove City Council just approved a balanced $491 million budget for the coming fiscal year, starting July 1.

AI-leen: A balanced budget is huge for local governments. The general fund is up $10.1 million from last year, so the city's expanding services but still keeping finances healthy. And the long-term outlook is positive, five years of projected balance.

AI-den: For residents, that means reliable city programs and infrastructure projects. If you wanna dive deeper, the full budget details are posted on elkgrove.gov/budget.

AI-leen: This transparency helps folks understand where their tax dollars go. It's reassuring to see the city planning responsibly for the future.

AI-den: Speaking of community impact, Elk Grove's Run for Hunger is back this July. Whether you're a runner or just looking for a fun way to celebrate Independence Day, this event supports families facing food insecurity.

AI-leen: I love that it's not just about fitness, it's about giving back. There's a 5K, 10K, and a kids' fun run, so everyone can participate. Registration is open at egrunfirehunger.com.

AI-den: And for the evening festivities, Elk Grove Park will host the Salute to the Red, White, and Blue with a drone show and fireworks. The drone performance will feature 200 drones marking America's 250th birthday.

AI-leen: That mix of tradition and tech is so cool. Concert kicks off at 7:30 PM, fireworks at 9:30. Admission is free. Parking is $15, but SacRT will run free shuttles starting at 4:30 PM.

AI-den: Finally, let's talk about something practical for families. SacRT's Ride Free RT cards are now out for youth. Kids in TK through 12th grade can ride buses and light rail free all year.

AI-leen: This is a game changer for summer freedom. Students can access jobs, activities, shopping, and more without worrying about fares. Cards are available at public libraries and SacRT's customer service center.

AI-den: Just show your card when you board or if asked. If you need more info, visit zacrt.com/ridefreeRT or call SacRT. It's a great resource for families looking to save and stay connected.

AI-leen: I'm glad the city's making mobility easier for youth. It really expands their options and encourages independence.

AI-den: Let's wrap up. First, the city's weekly email at elkgrove.gov is your go-to for updates. Second, we've got event highlights from bike rodeos to flamenco. And third, Elk Grove's balanced budget means solid city services ahead.

AI-leen: Plus, don't forget the Run 4 Hunger and Independence Day drone show and new Ride Free RT cards for youth. Here's your action step. Sign up for the city's email newsletter so you never miss an event or announcement.

AI-den: Thanks for tuning in today. Get registered, grab your tickets, and check out those Ride Free RT cards. There's plenty to explore in Elk Grove this week.
