Martial Justice?

Rabbi Lawyer Michael Rubinstein

In 1944, several German prisoners of war incarcerated in the United States were put on trial through court martial for murdering one of their own, whom they accused of treason. These prisoners were later executed in a sentence upheld by the President of the United States. In Episode 5, we discuss two of these cases--the cases of Werner Drechsler and Johannes Kunze-- and debate whether these trials involved an appropriate application of military law.
