Where we allow a safe place for anyone who has had trauma to be heard. Unspoken Conversations with Candace is about speaking your truth by using your voice because you matter. Each episode will feature a guest who will talk candidly about their personal journey that will give you the feeling of HOPE that no matter what you are going through, no matter how difficult it can be to talk about, you are not alone and there are plenty of resources to help. We are all about healing, encouragement, and support. In this episode Candace interviews John, who shares his story of trauma and addiction. As a child, John faced some difficult challenges that left him feeling lost and alone. However, he eventually found his way out of the darkness and into sobriety.
Today, John is grateful for his past experiences, as they have made him the strong and resilient person he is today. Listen with compassion as John opens up about his journey, and provides some valuable insights into the importance of trauma-informed care. This episode is sure to inspire anyone who is struggling with addiction or trauma.
Jon is a proud father of a beautiful 23 year old daughter, Bailey. Even though he is not her biological father, he has raised her as his own. He is a hard worker, enjoys his current job and plans on retiring from there. He has graduated and earned degrees from Gateway Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. In July, Jon will reach a huge milestone as he celebrates 8 years of sobriety. He enjoys the game of golf and sports in general. He loves learning, vacationing, and attending music concerts. For the past two years, he has been in a relationship with his amazing girlfriend. He loves spending time with her as he feels they have the perfect blend of similar qualities with different perspectives and ideas. Jon enjoys the feeling that life and our world is ever evolving and we should adapt and try to better ourselves daily.
Highlights:
05:04 - At the age of six I lost my mom, my sister in a house fire so from that I carried a lot of resentment towards my father.
10:48 - What a jerk I was for looking at it from the mindset that he lost the one love of his life and he lost his daughter.
19:31 - There are bits and pieces throughout my life of little wake up calls that I didn't heed and I just want to say how thankful and blessed I am to still be here.
35:07 - I think a lot of my blessings are due to seeing the gratitude of the daily blessings that I have.
