Every generation gets raised by stories — the question is who gets to tell them.

The conversation starts with sports headlines and the beauty of the World Cup, but quickly turns into something deeper: why certain games, movies, stories, songs, and childhood experiences stay with us for life.

From Toy Story and Mario to kids growing up with screens, we explore how modern culture shapes imagination, attention, identity, and desire.

SPEAKER_05

Welcome in, M238 Show 140. Hope you're doing well. Life is good, God is good all the time and all the time. God is good. Come on.

SPEAKER_11

That's right there.

SPEAKER_06

One of my favorite alley oops. Yes, yes. Um, did you uh want to lead us in prayer real quick before we go in?

SPEAKER_11

I would love to. Thank you for the opportunity. Dear Father God, thank you for this opportunity and time to hang out with Justin and for this podcast and for this audience and for this platform. Thank you for this moment in time where we get to discuss ideas and just talk about culture and tell stories to each other. Please help us to look at it through the lens of Jesus and to have the kind of presence of consciousness that would manifest a conversation worth listening to because it's about you, because it points to you, because we have inspired thoughts that lead us back to you. And uh please, if there's any moment where a distraction or something that would take us off the route of where we're trying to get to would push us off the conversation, allow us to have space to fully flesh out some of these thoughts so we can get to the core. And please give us the heart and presence of mind to do it in the right way, in a way that would make you proud in Jesus' name. We pray. Amen.

SPEAKER_05

Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Things, stuff, sports, yeah, Toy Story 5. Yeah. Yeah, headlines.

SPEAKER_11

A lot of stuff going on. I don't want to make it entirely the sports podcast, but I could run you a few sports headlines, just crazy things that have happened, crazy meta things going on in the world, too. I can feel my own freaking voice trying to talk to you guys right now, and then something in my body's like, no, don't don't get into it. And then I have to be like, get off me. Happens all the time. It's so crazy. But, anyways, one thing that's crazy going on right now. Have you heard the Sorceby story?

SPEAKER_06

Sorceby? Yes. What is this?

SPEAKER_11

This is a kid's name. S-O-R-E-S-B-Y. Sorceby. A kid? Yeah, he's a quarterback in the NCAA. Okay. Okay, so this guy, he got busted for gambling while he was a player on a football team.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Okay.

SPEAKER_11

I think the allegations were as bad as he was like the starting quarterback and he had bet against his team at one point in time. So um, they had suspended him like indefinitely, I think. Unfortunately. Definitely, maybe a two-year suspension or something like that. And so he was just gonna be like out of eligibility, or it was of this bleak window. And then this court down in Texas like rescinded or blocked or made like a ruling, uh, like from a legal standpoint on the case that just waived the suspension and said that he was like good to play. Like he won the case basically against the NCAA at the at the court out of nowhere. Like, no one expected that, I guess. And one reason I know that is because the when you clicked on the story that was on the front page of ESPN, when I'm learning about this, I'm reading one of the most like viscerally like disgusted point of view written article I've ever read on ESPN. Like, this guy is like this is this is unbelievable what's happening right here. This like corrupt courthouse in Texas wants to um let this kid who's a degenerate gambler that the NCAA suspended for good reason go because like just going off on the whole situation and going off on this kid and the and the specifically the courthouse, and they were talking, and then he references all the people who said how disgusted they were, and it was just like the craziest article I'd read on ESPN in a long time. It was very hate-filled, hmm. And so I was like, wow, this is kind of crazy. And then I was keeping up with it after that just because like the tone of the speech was insane to me. Never ESPN's usually like just you know, no no no no no no. They they were like super pissed off about this, and then uh then the NTAA came in and like so the Texas Tech's like, we're starting this guy, this is our quarterback, let's go. And okay, let's rock and roll.

SPEAKER_06

Is it this year or this coming year or last year?

SPEAKER_11

This happened like three weeks ago.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_11

So they didn't know who their quarterback was gonna be. Then they get him off the hook of suspension, and they're like, This is our guy. I think he's like a six-year senior or something like that, so he's getting pretty old, and this is gonna be his last run before he goes to the league. And then then the NCAA came down and like, I don't know, opened some kind of investigation or looked into it, and then the NFL got involved, and they came up with some kind of deal where because all of this like hate mail was coming in saying, like, it's not okay, this is not okay. And so then he declared for the NFL supplemental draft and was like, I'll forego my last year at Texas Tech and I'll just enter the draft. Then they're having this supplemental draft, which is like a thing, right? Okay, okay. So like undrafted free agents from the draft can be in this pool, or let's say you get drafted and they didn't sign you. Sometimes they're just like, oh no, what we don't really want to pay you that money, actually. And then you wouldn't maybe be able to be supplementally drafted, or in a crazy situation like this. So then the NFL just decides. So then they're like, all right, Swordsby's in the supplemental draft, someone's gonna get an extra QB3 potentially for like who knows, whatever. So he's a young guy, whatever. If you want him, you can have him. Then I people I think people are still mad because I'm not exactly sure why, because then the NFL just decides they're not gonna have a supplemental draft this year.

SPEAKER_04

Hmm.

SPEAKER_06

Is it normal to not have one?

SPEAKER_11

I don't think so. I think maybe I I don't know how many years they do have one, but I feel like they have had one every year. And they decided they were not gonna have one this year. And then he now is just like not gonna play for Texas Tech and not gonna be in the NFL, and then he was like thinking about suing the NFL, and then came out saying he wasn't gonna do that. Sorsby. Yes, the legend of Soresby. The the the courthouse in Texas was like, this is illegal. We're taking away your suspension. And then people in suits came down and were like, You're not playing football, bro. It's crazy, man.

SPEAKER_06

He's known for bending against his own team.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, that's pretty messed up, right?

SPEAKER_06

Yo, it's pretty messed up. Maybe it's the social connection of being associated to like the known gambling fraud or not fraud, but whatever. Known gambling. I guess that's the they're coming down on another basketball player, I think. I've seen some TikToks about it. Leak B or I don't know. I'm I'm gonna speak out of character. Yeah, right? Is that it? Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Okay, yeah. I think I've seen something about that. Him doing hitting certain over-enders or yeah, there's that video of him running to go get the rebound.

SPEAKER_11

He's playing ball. I'm not, I don't know. I don't know, thanks. I don't know for sure about anything. There's leaked text messages, they're leaked, whatever. There was leaked DeAaron Fox text messages the next day, but those were AI generated. Snowino, Snowino. It's a real problem. He's like, I went to rehab, I was like addicted to gambling, I was a degenerate. Thank you for getting called the best thing that ever happened to me. I just want to play football. And they were like, let him play.

SPEAKER_12

Let the boy play. Get him in, wreck him tag.

SPEAKER_11

Get him in. Yeah. Yeah. And it became this whole thing, man. It became this whole thing. That's so crazy. So that's a national headline that just went went nuts for a minute.

SPEAKER_07

You sorry? Yeah, I'm sorry. Alright. That's enough. Let the boy play.

SPEAKER_02

We'll see you down in Austin, early August.

SPEAKER_07

Get your loving son. Black and red. Patty Mahomes.

SPEAKER_11

Speaking of potential corruption, Donald Trump makes a phone call and we get a striker back. Yo.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. America can make a run. I don't know. I don't know if something happened. Hopefully, when this comes out, they'll be still around. But playing Belgium today. Watch England and Mexico last night. That was lit.

SPEAKER_11

I know there's at least two Belgian players that are on S-tier teams, like PSG.

SPEAKER_03

That's fine.

SPEAKER_11

Manchester United. That's fine. You know, Real Madrid. You know, I'll just say we get the spirit.

SPEAKER_06

The spirit of a 250th anniversary.

SPEAKER_11

They were playing Pick Me Home Country Roads when they got their dumb. And then the whole stadium was just like, West Virginia.

SPEAKER_00

Take me home. Rockin', dude. Rocking.

SPEAKER_11

Okay, I'm here for it. Yeah, it's we're going, you know, it can happen.

SPEAKER_06

Did you see the playing in America?

SPEAKER_11

Two notable games. Did you watch the um Argentina?

SPEAKER_06

Caba Verde?

SPEAKER_11

Yes. Yes.

SPEAKER_06

I didn't watch it, but I know that it got wild in like the second half in overtime. They went to an extra time, extra time, right? Yeah. Yeah, dude. Pushing them. Pushing them, going off. Yeah, dude. The guy almost crazy subset of God knows how long. Took them all the way took them all the way to extras.

SPEAKER_11

Just pure Pierce sent him a pure magic moment when he hit the equalizer. It's like the whole place was in disbelief. That was like the thing, you know. So that was cool because that game kind of opened the door to like crazy stuff happens at the World Cup. And I was just thinking about that. That's why the Robin Van Pierce likes dolphin dive header kind of like made sense to me like a little bit or reminded me that like crazy stuff happens here. Like you try to do the craziest, sickest thing you've ever done. You might just do it right here.

SPEAKER_06

This is like the biggest like watched event, I'm sure, right? The World Cup.

SPEAKER_11

It always was. It always was. But I think that that well, I think the Super Bowl normally is, but then the playoff game beat everything, I'm pretty sure.

SPEAKER_06

Everything? I don't know. I think soccer's bigger. I can look up it's definitely more global.

SPEAKER_11

We can GBT that for sure. While you tell us more about the World Cup's impact on your heart.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, dude. I watched uh Mexico England. Yeah, that was the other one, right? Yeah, that was a great game last night. That was like that was lit. It's gonna get that guy who scored two goals in two minutes. It's going off.

SPEAKER_11

Who did it? On England or Mexico?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, England.

SPEAKER_11

Wow. What was this? What was this? What was the narrative of the game? What was the score? When did this happen?

SPEAKER_06

Oh, I think England was the favorite. I think they're top like five team internationally. Yeah. And Mexico's like top ten, I guess. I don't know. Somewhere in that ballpark. Top 15, whatever. Whatever you want to say. But they're playing in Mexico as well. Oh shit. You know what I'm saying? So it was like a big time home game. I'm sure. But uh yeah, they went off. It was a dope game. 2-0 England. And then they equal hit a goal relatively quickly thereafter. 2-1. And then England goes up 3-1. Mexico equalizes. And then Mexico's chasing to equalize for. Or not equalizes. They score. Down 3-2. And they just can't get the equalizer. And then England got a England got a red card like at the 65th minute. So they're down a man for the last 25.

SPEAKER_11

Up one, down a man.

SPEAKER_06

30, 30 plus.

SPEAKER_11

Damn, Mexico's gonna get something going.

SPEAKER_06

It's rough. They got one, but they couldn't get the equalizer. 3-2. Great game. In Mexico City was crazy. Or in Mexico City, wherever it was. In Mexico, though. Like America's playing in America. I think the Americas like Canada, Mexico, and the US are hosting the games.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Canada lost.

SPEAKER_11

Okay, yeah, you're right though.

SPEAKER_06

Come on, America, we can do it.

SPEAKER_11

Like the World Cup final is gonna have 1.5 billion viewers.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_11

I'm glad you understood the gravity. I didn't even have to. The Super Bowl has like 130 million viewers. Ten of those. Yeah, 10 Super Bowls. But then the Olympic Games for the summer Olympic Games opening ceremony has like two billion. A little bit more, actually.

SPEAKER_06

Jeez, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. But no, you're right about just cooking everything.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Yeah, dude. People love this game. Soccer's crazy.

SPEAKER_11

I like it. One thing that I realized that's so beautiful about it, the beautiful game or whatever, you know. One thing that that is exciting about it is that when someone scores a goal, it's a big F D, you know? Like you could be that lightly. Nah. You could be anybody on the street walking, look up, and just see someone score a goal, and then look and see people explode, and it makes sense to you. You know? It's not like there's nothing complicated about that. It's like uh other sports, it doesn't matter so much. Like a big three is like not that big a deal. Even at like any given touchdown. But a goal is like fuck, they're always crazy.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, goal versus a three versus a touchdown. It's all painted around the narrative, I guess, around it. Hard it is to achieve it. I think goal carries some weight to it. World Cup goal, it's like the biggest stage in the world.

SPEAKER_11

I think like in a primal sense, too. Like a football, like you throw it in there or he runs it in there, but a goal, like you see someone kick ball, guy can't stop it, goes in, everyone celebrates. Like makes more like in a primal sense.

SPEAKER_06

Soccer's dope. Yeah. You guys getting their striker back, it's huge. Donald Trump coming in with the call. I'm gonna need my boy to play.

SPEAKER_05

I need my boy to play.

SPEAKER_11

I I don't want to have a chance. I couldn't tell you enough. I couldn't tell you I don't know enough about Donald Trump to know what he's truly done in office. And even if I was up to date on politics, you never really know what they're doing up there. Okay. What I can tell you is this is one of the coolest things I think I've ever seen him do. Maybe the best. This might be the best thing. This might be the best thing I've ever seen him do. You just he just gets our striker back for us. I mean, that's sick. Obama never did that. I'm sorry, that's lit. Obama's objectively way cooler, and especially through the lens of culture, but thanks that's thanks, DT. If he scores a goal in this game, DT's just up in the sweet side, love America 250, all at me.

SPEAKER_06

America. This is for my nation. Making a push on the biggest platform in the world. This is our marketing.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna be the best soccer team.

SPEAKER_06

We can make a run until the 50th year the 4th of July with the fight on my birthday.

SPEAKER_11

We just had a fight on my front lawn.

SPEAKER_09

We can do it, we can do anything.

SPEAKER_11

That's another headline. They had the they celebrated the 250 with an MMA cage fight, like a full card at the White House. Crazy stuff going on.

SPEAKER_06

First and the time, I'm sure. I don't think they're gonna do that again. Yeah, I don't think so.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, Dana White, the owner of the USC, said he's not doing that again. Went to the lifetime event. I was there, they did it. I left, I'll never do it again. Shutting down the office. Yeah, it's hard to know. It's hard to understand what's going on. But who knows anything about anything?

SPEAKER_02

Foreign policy, yeah, exactly. It's like anything about anything.

SPEAKER_11

Ultimately, all of us are such fish bowls, it's ridiculous. I can't ever know. But what I do know is we got our striker back, so everybody tune in for Belgian game tonight. Electricity in the air.

SPEAKER_06

We can make a run. Anyone can do it.

SPEAKER_11

If you're super degenerate, take the over on the two and a half goal line. It's gonna hit. It's definitely gonna be a 2-1 game. Just who's it's gonna be?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, the discrepancy between the World Cup and the Super Bowl being ten times over. It's hard to conceptualize. Like we love football. You know what I'm saying? We love the Super Bowl. It's like Americans.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, oh yeah. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_06

But one thing is that it's amplified by 10.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. We have a barrier with soccer where it's like it's easier to conceptualize England's soccer is our football culturally. It's like that's a pretty easy, easy thing to understand. But then England doesn't have that barrier with like Africa. It's just like soccer is soccer, is soccer, is soccer to all these places. So like if all those places played like American football, then I think more people would watch the Super Bowl. But and also the other thing is it's like the World Cup. So like the world is interested, I guess, you know. Your team just played, it's what's going on culturally. You were just in that tournament. It's like well, go watch the final. Yeah, that's that's definitely uh but I think that's a reason why for sure. It's like that's what I'm saying. Like in France they want to watch the World Cup, but no one in France is trying to watch the Super Bowl, you know. Same thing with Switzerland.

SPEAKER_06

Once every four years, you know. Yeah, right. That's another thing. We have Super Bowl every year.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, I'm still watching that. I'm trying to watch the Super Bowl. How do you not watch Super Bowl? Well, we're super invested in American soccer football. We love it. We have Lionel Messi living in our country, though. We should go see a Miami game for sure. I've thought about that before. It's like there's probably cheap seats some days. It's just like there's Lionel Messi scoring three goals. It's kind of crazy.

SPEAKER_06

Beautiful game. Yeah, the announcer was like, the greatest game in the world. And I was like, okay, he's here for that. It's a lot of running, bro. It's a lot of running.

SPEAKER_11

I'm down for it. It's beautiful. It's beautiful.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. It's dope.

SPEAKER_11

There's moments that are the other thing is when soccer is at its peak, it is like stunning. There's a there's a famous play with Barcelona, like from the tip, they just like one touch the ball, so like he passes it, and then he just passes off the pass, and they just pass off the pass with perfect cuts and perfect passing, just like slice up the defense until someone like hits a lob pass off the one touch. Because at one point you see them realize like, oh, no one's this is crazy. We're on a vibe right now. Then he just like lobs it up and the guy hits a scissor kick and scores the goal, and then just freak the F out. And it's like even football never looks that good, you know? When they're when they're in their flow state, it's ridiculous.

SPEAKER_06

The highest level. I've dealing with the chaos.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, the upper end of the beauty.

SPEAKER_06

The upper end of the yeah. The hero.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, it was weird. Neymar didn't play much, but looked injured still. I think scored a penalty kick call. Not exactly sure what that was. And then retired when they lost from international, which they wasn't gonna play for Team Brazil anymore. That was sad for people. He was like a guy.

SPEAKER_06

Neymar?

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I guess he was he said he was done after that game.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, he yeah. Uh I guess he's gonna play for whatever club he's playing for. He's kind of on the get paid a lot of money for his name tour, I think. Yeah, right. Can't hit him for that. By the time another World Cup comes around, four years. Four years deep. No, I think he was sad. He's like, I'm done, man. I'm done. I gotta hang him up, man. This shit hurts, man.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, play no more, man.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, dude. Yeah, I think he wanted to be in there just getting bucks, but wasn't for him anymore.

SPEAKER_06

Sad, man. Yeah, that's a big name. It's like the only name I had really. I don't really know any other people on Brazil, I don't think. But that name for sure. You know, yeah.

SPEAKER_11

There's a moment in time. It's funny because their names are all dinho. Like Raudinho, Juaninho, like that. Saint Luis Edgarinho. It's like they look like they're all cousins. Or like just the names are like all the same, you know what I mean? It's uh they go hard. They've been going hard. Same thing with like track. I think Brazil goes super hard on track too, right? I'm thinking of Jamaica, actually. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I'm with you.

SPEAKER_12

Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

But any FIFA game you've ever played, Brazil's always a really highly ranked team. And Neymar was specifically nasty for having like vicious skill move. Just cooking people, dude.

SPEAKER_06

One of those names.

SPEAKER_11

So that's soccer talk for sure.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, dude. There's an one more thing on this sports realm I was thinking about that's been instituted lately, is the uh NBA, I guess is now instituting in the summer league, trying this new framing of the rules where instead of shooting two free throws or three free throws for shots where you are fouled, you'll just shoot one for the amount of points that you are shooting for. So if you make one free throw, you can get the rewarded for the and one for two points or for three points. We only shoot one shot either way. If you miss it, you miss it. Helping the game flow. Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

No, I how do you feel about this? One, it's a G League game, so yeah, keep it moving. You know? I don't think anybody's it's like an AAU game. Like, we're not if anyone's gonna go crazy, we want to see that. But also, we're not trying to watch this for like two hours. But uh then we talked about this a lot on the 4th of July with Voss and Walsh. Okay, we're yeah, we broke it down a little bit. So, like uh Voss said that the people that are gonna suffer the most are the big men that are talented because the pace of play will be like higher, so they don't get to have like that time for free throws to just rest and sit there and like even just like sitting on the bench during that time period of time, staying get back in and do more damage, which might tilt the game a little bit more towards like the speedy players. And then Voss was concerned that um it would be like disproportionate to uh I think he brought up that like some people are better free free throw shooters on their second free throw, like maybe the percentages of which one is the make is different for sure. Players, right? Yeah, so he's like you're kind of robbing them of like their rhythm shot, which would make the percentage go down potentially. And then I was also thinking, like, if I'm a better than 50% shooter at free throw, then yeah, I want my free throws because I'm probably gonna make them. Like the odds are in my favor that I'm gonna make both of them, versus but then I was like, I guess the odds are the same if you just shoot one, you still are your whatever percentage shooter you're shooting, unless Voss is right.

SPEAKER_06

And then um there's truth in that too, you know? Yeah, yeah. I think it's probably big men too, you know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_11

Right, that are specifically a better shooter on their second one. That's what I was saying, is like if I'm a if I'm just like a good shooter, then I want all my free throws. I want all my chances because I think as time goes on I make more of those shots. So that does kind of it makes it a different game for sure. And also you can't free throw farm shadow shy. Yeah, no, no free throw merchants. You get one, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

You get one.

SPEAKER_11

But if it's two points every time you just make that little one free throw, that's kind of nice too. You stacking them all up with the thing.

SPEAKER_06

Extra important. Yeah. Yeah. Extra important.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, but all that to say, do I care how it affects G-League scoring? I guess we were uh this is only a conversation if they feel like they're gonna implement this into the NBA. And I think in the last like minute and a half, they go back to regular free throw shooting. The last minute and a half minute and a half of the half and the final quarter. And uh I don't think that they they'll do it in the NBA. There's no point. The broadcasting and stuff like that, they would actually rather prefer the game to be longer so they can sell it for like more money, probably, you know.

SPEAKER_06

We'll see if they bring it up to the NBA.

SPEAKER_11

I think they want the pace of play to be faster for sure.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah. More people more scoring more points, you know. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. But yeah, you look at a guy like you know, Dwight Howard, Blake Griffin, Joel Mbe, Anthony Davis. They probably like a little more time coming down the court. Jokic, potentially even Luku back in the day. A little more time, baby. But I'm also like basketball is a cardio-demanding sport, bro. You gotta like be in shape. You have to run. Like I I don't like that excuse of these guys are over here resting on free throws. Like, I get it too, you know. It's nice to get your legs back under you, but still. We run it. We run it. I don't mind doing it. We run it. Yeah, yeah. You gonna tilt the game towards the fact that we run it, that's fine. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I'm here for that. I'm here for that. Um, what else was going on culturally? Toy Story 5. That was just a quick little I don't know.

SPEAKER_11

Did you see the movie? No, I haven't seen it. I kind of want to.

SPEAKER_06

Which is I'm like, where's this coming from?

SPEAKER_11

I'm so there for this conversation. I I was having a conversation where uh we're talking about going to see Toy Story 5. And I was like, I know I'm an adult, but I just feel like I have to. This is like a culturally iconic, relevant movie, you know? Like, you gotta go see you gotta go see Toy Story 5. It's a hitter. Yeah, no, it's a kids movie, but like Toy Story, it's Toy Story, this is American culture right here. This is foundational. A lot of children, a lot of millennials. It's almost like the same thing as Harry Potter, where it's just like deeper than rap.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

So I think um I don't know. I might wait till I can rent it or something like that.

SPEAKER_06

I'm sure it'll come out on Disney Plus in the next. Are you going to the movie theater to watch Toy Story 5? That's really the only way to watch it right now. That's the thing. So it's either just like go watch it, or you can just wait until it comes out. I guess eventually. I'm not sure when that point is gonna be.

SPEAKER_11

Going to the movies is about more about just like we want to go to the movies, but I'm not like I gotta go see Toy Story. I find myself in a position to be needing to see a wanting to see a movie, wanting to catch a film out and about. I'm gonna go go get a movie today. Or like, I'm a draft house, that's fine. I'll go to a movie, yeah. I'm a draft house, you know. I don't know. Maybe. Maybe, maybe, like but if I'm really thinking about how I'm gonna digest this film, I'll probably wait till it's I can rent it and then end up watching it. Fair, fair enough. Maybe I was hoping you would tell me it's super worth it, and then I'm like, oh yeah, maybe I gotta go.

SPEAKER_06

We're gonna think about it, or this thought has crossed my mind. I was like, we should just wait for it to come out. I'm like, well, I don't know when that's gonna be. If we had time, we can go check it out, I guess.

SPEAKER_11

Exactly. What do you want to get out of this movie? What's it gonna do for you? Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_06

Should be a good story. A toy story.

SPEAKER_02

Fair enough. I think it delivers Mission accomplished.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, well done. Well done.

SPEAKER_12

I think you should go see this movie. That's the point of movies.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, uh, yeah, feel good. You know, yeah. Some movies suck. Maybe we feel something. Some movies suck. Some movies do suck. It's been a while, like the beekeeper sucked. I felt kind of like this about the about the Mario movie.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, you went into it. Okay, I was like, I should I think I want to see this. Yeah, I haven't seen it yet though. Oh, the new one.

SPEAKER_11

Oh, yeah, me too, bro. I'm saying with you, dog. Same thing, bro. They're just pulling on a millennial heartstrings. I was having this conversation too. Kids movie. Yeah, yeah. If Debbie was like six, you know, we gotta let's go. We gotta go. Like, this is culture, babe. This is I'm I'm old. And I'm showing you my stuff, like my dad did when he was old. And now it's just a flash circle, mate. Yeah, but Dems is like not quite in a position where she's gonna I I can predict the future. Like I'm that so raven, and she's not gonna sit through a movie and be happy and chill. We're not quite there yet. That's okay. She's a little nugget, bud.

SPEAKER_03

Give me a time.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, she's my little nugget, but there's no time, bruh.

SPEAKER_11

Yes, man. But all that to say, it would be hitting me perfectly. It would be hitting me perfectly. The Toy Story 5 still going on strong. Well, this they don't know what to do. They don't know how to market to the they don't know how to do it again. That's one thing that they got going on. So I think that's why they're coming after us.

SPEAKER_06

That was part of my thought as well, actually. Here's what you do. It's like the same as like another five. Five of them. They have a lot of off offshoots, though. Depending on how many that have been hitters. I don't know. What are you gonna say?

SPEAKER_11

When you talk about this, so I've heard from what I heard about the movie is that at some point they do a good job of like representing the iPad as like kind of a bad thing. I don't know if it's like the bad guy is an iPad. I'm pretty sure. Okay. And maybe that's a good association to like have some kind of depth of understanding that the iPad isn't like your friend. For kids to lay a baseline, a foundation. Perhaps that's kind of lit, maybe. Dude, I freaking there was one day, I can't remember exactly why, but I gave Demi my phone with Miss Rachel on the YouTube, and she was holding it in the back seat. And then we I drove to wherever we're gonna go, HUB or whatever, got the errands done, and by the time we get back home, we're chilling. I thought some Miss Rachel and TV were good. The next like five times we get in the car to go anywhere, she is freaking out asking for the phone to watch Miss Rachel, like trying to communicate new ways of things. She's like getting me on the phone. She's like, the phone, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Rachel, yeah, me, yeah. Do you get me, Dad?

SPEAKER_11

Like, make that thing happen for me. I want Rachel like here, like I had it, you know. And it was it was so crazy to me, like one time, dude. The power of my insane. She was like, that was my effing vibe, dude. Like, I like that. And I'm like, I don't want it to have that. That's crazy that it has that kind of hold over you. I mean, I guess I'm fully I'm fully locked into having a phone villa, and you just had like one, you know, 30 minutes of it, and you're like, I'm trying to do that too, dad. Let's go. Let's go.

SPEAKER_06

Yes, it is crazy. It's addictive.

SPEAKER_11

She also, one other crazy thing about the phone with her is if she wants to go somewhere, she'll like grab my phone and be like, here you go. Okay, let's go. Like sometimes she'll grab my hat and be like, here's your phone, here's your hat. Like, get your stuff, get your stuff, let's go. And uh it's crazy. She's always like, Where's your freaking phone? I know you're gonna need this to go.

SPEAKER_01

This is the thing that makes like, yeah, let's go do this. The thing where I go do this thing, you know.

SPEAKER_11

What a weird thing. What a weird thing. Manipulating the future.

SPEAKER_06

We didn't do that as babies. For her for sure. Expressing will. I want this. I want this thing, give me this thing. I guess helping aid this thing, this positive emotion.

SPEAKER_11

She wanted Rachel. I mean, it's just I think she was lit as a kid. She's like, I can have Rachel like in car. Car kind of sucks. This is dope.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

Whatever this is is dope. Yeah, it's hard to blame her. And also, yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

Repeat this, please.

SPEAKER_11

It's great to do with Miss Rachel because it's gotten to a point where she like knows what's going on. She'll be like talking to me, talking to me, and then she'll be like, cat, like with Miss Rachel on beat, and then she's come back to like talking to me, talking to me. And I'm like, Oh, yo, you're like Dal. This is like the office to you, you know. You've seen this episode a few times, I guess. So you know, and then it's also it's like the same songs and the same stuff over and over and over again. So she's gotten to the point where she knows like all the songs, and she'll turn around and sing to it, and then come back. Super cute. But it's her little world, you know.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. We had Toy Story in ours. She'll have a different slate of movies.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Yeah, we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens with the movie industry. Hopefully, we keep getting movies. I'll have a good movie.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, man.

SPEAKER_06

There's a flat circle, man. Pass it on. Kids crazy. Creation. Expressing your will. And you're seeing her like develop that in real time.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, I mean, yeah, she's like stepping into the terrible twos where it's like sh what she wants to happen, if it can't happen, she gets really upset. And sometimes she'll just throw a fit. And then it's like a whole thing. I think that's what terrible twos are. At least that's my perception. Because I'm like, uh. Like I'm babyproofing a couple of these cabinets. Yeah. And it's like, I'm babyproofing a couple of these cabinets. There's two that need to be baby proof that aren't. And then she like finds that one, and then she crawl wants to crawl in there. And I'm like, no, you can't crawl in there. I like pull her out. And then she's at that point, she's like dead set on it. She's like, yo, now I gotta get in there. I'm gonna get in there. I wanna play peekaboo in the freaking cabinet. And I have to be like, no, you know, we're not doing that. Like a good father.

unknown

Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_11

It's it's actually, yeah, I was laying in bed when I thinking about it. I was like, that's one time where like to do my job, I have to not get along with you. Otherwise, I'm just like, what do you want? Let's do it. What do you want? Let's do it. What do you want? To be in danger? No, no, no, no, no. We can't do that. So yeah, then she's throwing a fit. Don't rebel against me, please. That's only like I'm going in there.

SPEAKER_01

Me there.

SPEAKER_11

Dead set. Dead set. It's like uh it's the expression of her will. I I'm trying to figure out why she's so motivated, you know. Just like because I want to, because because you won't let me, because that's what I'm trying to do. Like, okay, well just like want to do something else, you know. And I feel like there's probably a relationship translation with God there, or it's just like sometimes you're like uh God's like, why are you doing that? You're like, because I want to. And he's like, Okay, don't go into the cleaning, like the chemical cabinet, like you're a baby, you know? Go play with your toys. Go watch Mitch with Rachel, it's on TV, or go get ready to go on a walk or something, you know? Go play with the markers, go pick up a book, or something. No, I want to go in the place that I shouldn't be going. So bad. So bad I want to go in there. And then yeah, I'll like leave to the other stuff, and she's still trying to get in there. So, anyways, that's like her being her terrible, her terrible twos. Because otherwise, we're like chilling most of the time. We just like have a good schedule, good routine, she's happy. Sometimes she doesn't want to leave, so she doesn't want to leave the park, so she'll throw a fit, bro. She is crazy strong at not getting in her car seat.

SPEAKER_06

There's some judo, dude.

SPEAKER_11

She's got her body locked. Jujutsu. It's insane. It's baby jutsu. The baby jutsu. She looks like she trained. I'm like, you've got me in a leg lock right now. And I have to give up. No. Just pull her out, start over trying again. But, anyways, that's tantrum. That's demi-face tantrum stuff.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I think that's just human psychology foundational. Terrible twos over all built on integrating.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure. I think I want to get a book on it because she's not two yet, but just understanding what's going on there. Like she'll even hit me and stuff, you know. Gotta work through. And then I'm like, don't do that. Soft touches. And she's like, no hitting Demi.

SPEAKER_12

Soft.

SPEAKER_11

It's like telling her soft touches is setting her off. She's like, watch. But I what is that? She's testing the boundaries. Do I have to get upset with her? Do I have to show her a boundary? Should I just give her grace? You know, I don't know what's best for her. I'm trying to get a bug because I want to integrate properly. Dude, I was gonna tell you of the story.

SPEAKER_06

Foundational continue, yes.

SPEAKER_11

I go to take her to daycare on like, you know, like Tuesday, and I'm always a little sad. I give her kisses, I drop her down, and then this kid just like waddles on up there and just like hits her. And I was just like, yeah.

SPEAKER_09

What the whose man's is this? Whose man's is this?

SPEAKER_11

And instantly I'm like filled with like aggression trait. I'm like, I feel the fire. I'm gonna throw you. I'm like, I feel it, and I'm like, What are you gonna do? Kick this baby, like you're gonna have to like internalize it. Like vegetarian. I'm like, you got you're gonna have to internalize this. And then I look at the daycare workers, they can be like, no hitting, no hitting, no hitting, no one, no. And then you know, but then Demi's like holding the daycare lady the first, there's two daycare ladies. She's holding the first daycare lady, she's like looking at me, and she's just like got these big eyes, like like sad, like looking at me, like I don't know. I perceive to be like, protect me, you know, like do something about this. I'm like, I'm gonna drop kick this. I got I got you. No, I'm just kidding. Yeah, never the soup looks like I don't know what to do, you know? Yeah, what? So then I just like the daycare takes them, they're doing other stuff. These kids are all running around a little cyclone of little toddlers, and I'm like, um, okay. And then Demi goes over to the other lady who's sitting down, and then like just like hangs out with her, or she picks her up, puts her on her lap, and then they're just sitting there hanging out. And I was like, is she sad? Or is she just chilling? Or if that kid hadn't hit her, would she just have like running with the other kids? I don't know. You know, don't like any of that. Take her back the next day, drop her down, the same kid gets up, runs up to her, and hits her again. No, yes, what? And I'm like, okay, this is like, you know what I'm saying? He's like 15, 16 months old, probably. Probably a little a little bit younger than Demi. But still crazy, bro.

SPEAKER_06

No, dude. What what happened the second time? Uh you see the ladies?

SPEAKER_11

The lady picks him up, and she picks him up kind of swiftly, you know? Like she was like, no, you know? And then puts him in like there's like these little baby rocker chairs, you know. And then I think he starts crying and then gets up and then walks over to another baby rocker chair where another baby was like laying down, like a baby smaller than him, and he just sits down on top of this baby in the rocker chair. And then the dick care lady like picks him up and then tells him no, and like is like not yelling at him, but like, Angel, no. Well, sorry, beep, bleep about the kids lame, you know, like getting onto him or whatever. And I was just like, bruh, what what are we doing here, you know? So then today I walk in there ready to be like, yo, and I'm not gonna lie to you, this is direct my perception of the moment. I walk through the door, and then her room's in the back, and I look over the ledge, I can't really see anything except I like lock eyes with this kid, and I'm like, it's all it's so crazy, right? I was just hoping in the back of my heart, hoping he wouldn't be there. The kids were staring me down, and then I go though, and I get to the door, and he's like scrambling to get up, and I'm like, yo, this kid's gonna fucking try to hit Democrat for sure. And so then they but then they tell me that she's they had told me last week that she was gonna move to a different class, and they're like, Oh, yeah, so she's in the different class for this week. So if you want to take her to the other room over there, and then there's only two other kids in that room, and they're playing and blowing bubbles and chilling. And I guess um she's crossed the threshold of the how old you have to be to graduate to the next class, but I think that there wasn't enough kids in that age group for a while to have a whole separate class, but now there is, or something like that.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, I don't know.

SPEAKER_11

I'm like, is it because this kid's hitting my kid? Is that why you gotta move her? You know what I'm saying? What's going on here? He's scrambling to get up, dude. For real. I was about to uh I'm I'm about to like hey, no, we're not doing that, bro. Like, I'm about to tell him catch a little baby arm. Yeah, no, yeah. I can't get over to him because there's like a barrier. It's like a half door, like a swinging half door, and I put her over the barrier.

SPEAKER_02

What if we if I just open the door and walk over there?

SPEAKER_06

You just hold on to her, just leave her standing up, and then as he's getting closer, it's like whoop.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, yeah. We're talking about being John Wick as a dad right now, and I like it.

SPEAKER_06

Baby John Wick.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, because it's not okay. I'm just like, you're telling me I gotta watch my kid. I draw my kid here, and she gets slapped in the face. And she looks at me like, why do you take me to this place? You know what I mean? Rev.

SPEAKER_06

Bruh. When you say slap, what's the what's the level of you know intensity behind these hits with this so what 16, 17 months old, whatever? Well, they can't hit very hard. Yeah, you know what I mean? A full swing, full swing coming in clubbering. Yeah, hard foul.

SPEAKER_11

Not doing like enough damage to like make her cry. But I think he definitely came in swinging and like hit her on the side of the head and it kind of bounced off his at her, right? And she's like, bruh, like what what? And I'm like, yeah, bro, stop that immediately. What are we talking about? What do we do? Do we spang kids? Like, I thought about having that conversation. Like, hey, can you like um but then also Demi had a phase where she had bit a kid a couple times, so that's what I'm like, you know what I mean? Like, I don't know what to do when she was doing that, other than we had to stop like. Sometimes I would bite her when I was just like giving her cuddles and loving on her. I'd be like ahrr, like a dog, you know, just like playing with her. She thought it was so funny. So we stopped doing that. That's all I had, though. You know what I mean? How do you get your kid to stop biting people?

SPEAKER_05

Children are aggressive by nature.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. JVP says they have to learn to integrate it by the time they're three or four. Definitely by four.

SPEAKER_06

Because if you don't, yeah, that was like one of the thresholds for sure.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Big thresholds.

SPEAKER_06

That's a big one. Yeah, we're all built on that. Socially, foundationally, individually. And socially.

SPEAKER_11

Last demi-story, and just to tie one other example. This is crazy. What? This is crazy. Right. Thanks for being a good uncle. It's weird. I was definitely going to verbally be. I was going to give him the dad voice. Hey. Hey. No. Hey, no. Uh-uh. We don't do that. No. It's gonna give it to him for sure. Talk him to hell. Yeah, I was gonna give them the it's more about the energy than anything. Just because that's all I can do, you know what I'm saying? And you guys aren't really doing that. Or like I have to impose my will here somewhere. But I have to like try. I can sit here and just let this happen.

SPEAKER_06

Letting this happen isn't you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Letting this happen, knowing full well I can I could do something about it. Uh minimally, you know, whatever level.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, I think Demi needs me to weigh in at some point. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. She comes up for the third time.

SPEAKER_11

Right? That was another thing.

SPEAKER_06

You're scrambling to get up, you get up, you're coming this way. I'm like, okay, hold up, hold up, wait a minute. I thought I all spanished you.

SPEAKER_11

I was ready to pop off on the kid when I saw him trying to get up.

SPEAKER_06

That was nightmares.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Yeah. And but like I said, these it's a group of kids trying to integrate aggression. So on some level I get it. But but also hopefully this is gonna help you integrate, you know. Stop hitting my my my kid.

SPEAKER_07

Let me help you.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, let me help you there in the name of Jesus. So she's at this flashpad, and I'm I'm you know, roll to pick her up, and she's playing, and then she's like playing with this pail she has, and she's filling it up with water, and she's bringing it to me, and she wants me to like dump it on her head. She's being super cute. She just wants to play with me, you know. And then she's going out there and she falls and she leaves her pail on the ground where she fell, and then she runs over to a different spot and plays in the water for like a second. And another little girl who's probably like four runs up and like points at the she like walks next to the pail, looks at it, and she points at it, and then she picks it up and then runs off with it. Pretty fast. Maybe like six, seven seconds after Demi dropped it, and then it's a whole thing, you know. Should I go get my kids' toy? Should I let them play with it? Does Demi want it? Hmm. Then after like maybe 10 more minutes, I'm like, she I think she tells me she wants her pail or she wants to bring the Woba to me. And I'm like, look, your pail's over there, go ask them for it. And then she sees it and she goes up, and then the girl gives her the pail, and then Demi's like filling it up with water and trying to bring it back, and then she fills it up with too much water and is running and like falls, and then gets up and then kind of just runs back to me. But she's not crying, but she's just like forgot her pail, and the girls grab it and then they run off with it. And I'm just like, God damn it, bro.

SPEAKER_07

Is that just happening? Get your own pail. Alright.

SPEAKER_02

You want to play pail? Should have brought a pail.

SPEAKER_11

But yeah, I don't. It's the jungle of the freaking less than five-year-old community, or like, you know, the children. The socio hierarchical nature of the baby youth. She's just a baby.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's a much bigger discrepancy in age.

SPEAKER_11

But yeah, those kids in their head were like, oh yeah, we're definitely gonna go play with this baby's toy watch. It's like taking hail from a baby.

SPEAKER_02

It was pretty easy as a kid, it watched that happen to her.

SPEAKER_11

But yeah, I hadn't cared that much in the end of the day. That's what I'm saying, too. It's like hardly what are you gonna be mad about, dude? They're just kids.

SPEAKER_05

So blessing.

SPEAKER_06

That's a blessing, though. Man, yeah, so I guess those those are some thoughts. Soccer and the toy story, soccer. What's there something uh headlines? Any headlines and across any way. What was the Trump thing?

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, that was unbelievable. Unbelievable to wake up. I mean, because yeah, the the whole news last week about the soccer team was just like we're kind of without a paddle, without a sharker. No pale. Yeah, no pale, dude. Gareth Pale. No. Gareth Pale, no pale, no paddle. Belgium four. But no. We uh we got our guy back, so that was like that's a crazy thing to wake up to to read. And we played at night. I think he came back tomorrow. I mean, sheesh, bro. That's a sanity. So yeah, interested to see that game play out. If we win, it's pretty nutty. We'll have a cool game. We'll play someone cool. I think Portugal is next.

SPEAKER_06

I'm not sure. I think it's like either Portugal or Spain who are playing right now. Yeah, right. Another good game. Ronaldo in the bingo, doing his thing though. Spain's a big favorite. See what happens. Yes.

SPEAKER_11

When I was talking about how crazy the World Cup could be, like before it started, that was my example. I was like, Portugal versus Spain, like Spain should just beat them, right? But like Portugal has Cristiano Ronaldo, so if if they do win that, it's kind of crazy. Stuff like that happens. It could happen. That was literally my example at the World Cup. The greatest stage.

SPEAKER_06

Over a billion people is crazy, though. Over a billion people is wild.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, bro. That's a very uniting thing.

SPEAKER_06

That's a big one.

SPEAKER_11

It's a very uniting thing, you know.

SPEAKER_06

The Olympics is more, right? It's also an every four-year event.

SPEAKER_11

It's also specifically the opening ceremony is like the most viewed part versus like the World Cup itself is the most like the final is the most viewed part. It's like the opening ceremony, like ladies like it. Everybody's country is there at that point, so you're all rapping, you know. We're on the world stage, you know.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, agreed upon. World stage. Everyone's here. Everyone's doing this. We're all agreeing to the same rules. We're here to compete.

SPEAKER_05

Olympics is dope.

SPEAKER_11

The cool thing about soccer is you don't have to like get CTE to play it. Like football's very contact heavy. Yeah, gotta wear the pads, gotta hit people, gotta be big. Like Messi. Is Messi gonna be a great wide receiver in the NFL? Great running back, maybe. Maybe. He might be a nasty running back, actually. Maybe. Yeah, a kicker. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Hit him from 70 out.

SPEAKER_11

But he's still an athlete, obviously. So it's just expressed differently in soccer. So it's something might be more relatable to a lot of people, is what I'm saying. Everyone can maybe have aspirations to be in.

SPEAKER_06

Anyone can play. Yeah. You see a ball. We figure out the rest.

SPEAKER_11

Dude, we were making soccer goals out of like sides of streets, fences, walls, you know, two poles. I mean we were doing that everywhere when we were kids for sure. And that was just in America. I love soccer, bro. I love soccer camp, love soccer practice. I was going to goalie, goalie practice, goalie specific practice. Those are so fun, bro. We're watching Tim Howard. My mom was like, that's what I had dreams. Your life would be like. That's what his life is doing right now. Who says? My mom. She's like being dramatic. She was like, When you're when you were growing up playing soccer and I told you you should be a goalie, like the upper limits of why I was telling you that you should be a goalie is because look at how important Tim Howard is right now. You see how critical the role that he plays? Like it's not always so on display, you know. But this guy's like clearly a leader on the team and like runs the defense and is like the reason that they're still in the game right now. And uh a lot of people depend on him doing his job to like just make sure that the game functions naturally. It's like isn't as flashy as scoring a hat trick, you know. But look at him, look at Tim Howard right now, Matthew. Look at him, soap that in. He's got 15 shots on goal so far, and he's saved 14 of them. People were going nuts in the stadium, they're like standing on their feet for that guy.

SPEAKER_06

Beautiful. Big discrepancy. That's a big discrepancy.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, goalkeeper practice was super fun.

SPEAKER_06

Mm-hmm. Yeah, sports are dope for that. Yeah, then the chance is getting into more volleyball. We're trying to get into more of like the increased intensity, like level of commitment that takes a little bit more extra discipline than it takes to be like good at a sport. You know what I'm saying? She's like, oh I can see like the separation, you know what I'm saying? We took an or there was, I guess, uh I think one of the more popular, if not the most popular, kind of summer camp, I guess. They were holding a it's like a clinic, I guess, more or less. But yeah, she I guess she was uh it was like 13 to 16 year olds, so she was like super young too. And then she was just, I guess, relative to the level of control. Like some of the girls had, or you know what I'm saying? The difference in like some of the high school players, you know, saying who are going off, she's like going into her last year of middle school. And then seeing like girls who are just like sophomores, you know what I'm saying? It's like, oh wow, okay. The level to this game, dog. Yeah, yeah, the levels to this game. I think I'm not sure exactly what it looks like or what it means, but there's like a certain level of extra or of uh commitment that needs to be like sacrificed to be at that, to be able to do that. That's something that it costs, it requires. Okay, I'm gonna just step towards that a little bit.

SPEAKER_11

Nice. It's more rewarding than playing Fortnite or whatever, you know. When I was a kid, that was the exchange.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, do more clinics, go to whatever you're like, soccer practice, you know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, mom. This is fun. Shout out my mom, dude. This is my mom. I was in like uh a feeder program for like a bigger program, I town of country. So this was like the lowest level was just like rec, and then there was like rec plus. If you were like good, I guess. I don't know. And so we did rec plus, and then in if you were like the next jump was gonna be select soccer, and so they did like a draft, they'd have like a combine with all the kids, and then they do a draft, and if you didn't get drafted, you didn't get to play. So you really need to like kind of grind hard on rec plus if you wanted to keep playing with the program. So I'm in rec plus, and then my mom um went to the select programs goalkeeper coach because they had a specific goalkeeper coach, and the other program below that didn't. And then she like said, My kid's good at goalkeeper, he's like one of the best in the program, and he wants to play select, but can he practice with you guys? Because you guys practice on the same field at the same time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Can he just practice with you instead of his team when he's there? And then the guy was like, He was like a Brazilian guy, and then he was like, Let me see him play, and then he's like, Bring me the boy, and then he put me through a workout, and then he was like, I like the kid, he could practice with us, and then I just started practicing with him after that. And it was like I was like the only kid doing that, and that helped a lot. They were doing like dope shit, like you would be like down on your knees, pause, and then they would like just rocket like volleys or throw the ball at your full extensions, like do 10 reps in a row of you just having to like save the ball in quick reaction time. And I remember doing like those kinds of drills, and I was like, yo, I'm getting really good, this is crazy. And then I was making crazy saves after that, and then there would be a drill where it'd be like you'd be laying down flat, and then you had to get up, and then he would like put the ball like far away, and you'd have to dive and catch it, and you see like 10 dives in a row, and that also helped me like learn how to do acrobats stuff, you know, called the flight school, like pads and stuff. You need to like full extension dive and like save this ball. Go like it was fun, dude.

SPEAKER_06

Sell out I need you to learn how to sell out fully.

SPEAKER_11

I went to campson, throw yourself, dog. Yeah, for real. And it was fun, dude. It was cool. I went to camps and then they signed you up. I signed up specifically as a goalkeeper, so they had like a separate part of the camp for goalkeepers, and then they'd reintegrate at the end, and that that was crazy training, too. So I feel like uh that was my mom just like being, I don't know, like a good parent, you know? Because I I had no control over any of that. I was just like, I'll go to practice.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah, it's dope.

SPEAKER_11

It's so fun when you're a kid, it's all fun.

SPEAKER_06

Just being committed to something, you know, developing the discipline that it takes to do something and be good at something.

SPEAKER_05

It's worth it, it's a worthwhile endeavor.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, that's fun. Sports are dope. Sports are dope.

SPEAKER_11

I like that was a fun narrative for me. I was like, even like as an eight-year-old, I'm like, yeah, I go to school and then like I play I play soccer. I was like, I'm good with that, you know. Life's good. I throw Tuds when we play recess football for sure. But other than that, I'm hooping. Get a ton of Halloween candy, you know, go hard. Going hard. Yeah. Yeah, that was a cool narrative.

SPEAKER_06

Play Legend of Zelda. So Smash Bros.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, dude. Just love sports, love the training, loved all the never wanted to leave practice. But that combined with actually training, like with specific goals in mind. Like um, YouTube's such a thing, bro. Like, it was probably good for Jazz to see the sophomore people have more control than her. Because it's almost just like your brain being like, oh, okay, there's like another level I can get to, you know? What would what would I have to do with my current understanding to look more like that? Even just that, you know? When I was in those soccer programs, they would tell us to watch games. They're like, watch soccer, watch like Bigley soccer, so you know, like you don't you know, you don't really know what you're doing. You're just like doing what we tell you to do. Then watch them do it. And you're gonna be like, oh, that's like what I'm trying to do.

SPEAKER_06

Mm-hmm. Yeah, watch someone embody it, embody the spirit. Okay, that's like the role model, or do it do it in in that in that way. Yeah, it's objective. Someone's just getting buckets, it's like, yeah. Yeah, facts. Do that. That's what's all.

SPEAKER_11

Or like when you're trying to run with your dribble, I think that might be like a confusing thing for a kid to understand. Then you watch someone like if you watch Mbappe run with his dribble, I think there might be something that just clicks. Sometimes it's like Neo. He's like, I know.

SPEAKER_06

I feel like when I watch the Spurs, I'm more like I have better handles, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, right, right. My my brain's like watched and experienced the display of the spirit, you know.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, that thing is real, dude. I think that thing is real.

SPEAKER_06

Maybe.

SPEAKER_11

I'm with you, bro. There's something there for sure. I can think of several times in my life where it's just like the spirit of a movie started walking with me, you know. And I think there's a movie specifically where it's like uh anytime that this person watches um like a movie of anything, they can like learn that whole thing, you know. No, it's just this girl ends up watching a ton of UFC, is what it is, and then she has like a super advanced learning model through like a trauma thing that happened to her, and so she's like a natural human, but she watches like eight hours of UFC and then she like knows UFC.

SPEAKER_06

I know Kung Fu.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, so that was like there it had some scientific explanation for how she was able to like do that more or less in the narrative of this this movie. And but then they were pointing to like there's something to that, like if that thing that we're talking about right now was turned on 10 out of 10 and you sat down, like allegedly you could watch eight hours of UFC and then go choke someone out because you like processed it more or less in your subconscious.

SPEAKER_06

They make training videos, you know. Training videos are a thing.

SPEAKER_11

For what, how to choke people out?

SPEAKER_06

How to do anything, like in jobs, YouTube's crazy, yeah. Lectures what we consume, we're always consuming something.

SPEAKER_11

Yes, yes, and the sports metaphor jazz if she wants to get on to like watching YouTube some good YouTube people. I watched my high school football highlight reel a couple days ago. Okay, there was just something that somebody was talking about their tape, they're talking about Tavon's Austin, Tavon Austin's mixtape. It's like a constant meme going around. I was like, let me see my mixtape, bro. Run that film, you know? Run it. And it was like I was that many days old when I realized, like, bro, I was I look so slow. I just look so slow. That's what everybody's always saying. I'm like doing everything right, but I'm just like so slow. And then in college I trained at D1 and got super fast, and we killed an internals. We're running by people, it was so fun. But yeah, I was like training for speed to run an uptread mills, put like elastic bands on your legs and do all these like stuff, you know, like trying to develop quick to twitch muscle fibers. But in high school, no help for the boy.

SPEAKER_12

No, they're just like dive.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, no, we we did good, we did good, but it was crazy. I'm like, oh yeah, I get it. I was slow. Like, I saw I could see it. That was weird. I was like, I'm going D2.

SPEAKER_12

Look at this stuff, bro.

SPEAKER_11

But yeah. Most cooking just a lot of its perception, too. So that's what I'm saying. Like, if I was watching Demi play and I was like, uh, you're really good, but you do look slow on the football field. We gotta like we gotta hit the track, we gotta do some quick twitch muscle development stuff. We gotta we're gonna target that. We're gonna go off on that. Think about being coached dad, you know. Because they can do it, she can do it, you know, that's get a scholarship somewhere, and then you're not paying for college. Hey. That's nice.

SPEAKER_06

That's what's so professional volleyball out there. I think you're just like going to the Olympics at that point, you know what I'm saying? When you get past college level, yeah, you know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_11

No, I guess if you're in volleyball. How much are you gonna pay D1 athlete level? You're probably looking to like graduate and get a job after that. And that's okay. That's fantastic.

SPEAKER_06

Great life. Okay, you have a two UT volleyball game, great time. You know what's going up in there. Just playing volleyball. Lock in, dialed in. When you see it at the Olympics, it's like, yeah, best time. Volleyball's killer. The men's volleyball goes crazy.

SPEAKER_11

It does go crazy. It is a lot. It's pretty wild. Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_06

It's pretty wild. It's an insane sport. Those serves are coming in crazy hot, and they're just like just like dunking on each other the whole time, you know? Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

And they're giant guys with huge verticals. They're getting up there. It's like Dwight Howard's. Blake Griffin's throwing rockets. Did you ever play volleyball in that context? Like in a gym where you were like actually going off?

SPEAKER_06

Not at a super high level, maybe like in college, I think. Maybe once. I think my roommate, one of my homeboys from high school, was he got into that realm a little bit in college.

SPEAKER_12

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

But never like, no, not too seriously. But I know that the levels are up there.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. It's up there. Oh, I'm sure they're nasty, for sure. But we go five hours a day for 90 days, we'd be insane, dude. Insane.

SPEAKER_06

Trying to work purpose, trying to what cause. Like a proper sacrifices. Easily identifiable sacrifices. And getting nasty or something. That's all good. That's all good stuff. It's very good.

SPEAKER_12

We love it.

SPEAKER_11

We love doing that kind of stuff. Spend a lot of time studying it. But yeah, just to say it's really fun. Do you ever play beach volleyball? A couple times. I'm sure you're going crazy, dude. It's fun. Yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_06

It's fun.

SPEAKER_11

Eat me up there, bro. It's so fun.

SPEAKER_06

Stuff 'em at the rack, dog. Dude. Stuff 'em at the rack. A whole lot of that going on.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, a lot of that.

SPEAKER_06

That's something. There's some energy out there, you know? Confrontational energy, dog.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Get excited. Energy. You remember the office scene where they're playing volleyball?

SPEAKER_06

I think so, yeah.

SPEAKER_11

They're really into it. Yeah. It's like, look who just woke up. I've been up for a while. I've been up on. Yeah, whatever. Having a fall day.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. That's a heated moment. That's a iconic scene. Volleyball has some power. It's got some weight to it. Anytime I've been at the net. You know what I'm saying? We're just like right here with it.

SPEAKER_07

That's in the demon's dog. Spiking the demon's dog.

SPEAKER_11

That's a crazy analogy. It's a pretty vicious game. At the highest level for sure, just hurling fast forward. Hurling heat at each other, bro. Those are coming off hot. We're like, somebody out there is full-on diving, trying to get there to bring that thing back to life. Load it back up and then I like the finesse shots too, bro. There's times where you can get up there and then you know everyone thinks you're gonna obliterate it, and then you see like a weak spot, and you're just like beep, thinker, got team dog. Yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's a crazy sport. It's cool, it's tight. It's dope. Sports are dope.

SPEAKER_11

On a vacation, sunsetting, tequila and pineapple. We're chilling. So walk up to a park and there's six dudes out there. We've got five guys with us. Okay. We start running. And the fries dog. We pick up a someone on the side and we start running a six-on-six match to 25 in the sand. I'm locking in, dude. I'm excited. Like, that's I'm tier one gassed. You got all of me right now.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, we're hooping.

SPEAKER_06

We're going it all the way.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. And that I love volleyball for that right there. I've done that a couple times on vacations with the step bros. We're like, we're gonna put this family down. We're here to annihilate.

SPEAKER_06

If we need to pick up some some scrubs along the way, we see some hustle and some heart. And we're gonna make it out. It's all you ever needed. You follow me to the promised land, brother.

SPEAKER_11

Grace can play volleyball with us, loves volleyball. Volleyball's fun. Colding my volleyball, crushing. She's over there racking up serves. She's hit four serves in a row. That's good, Grace.

SPEAKER_09

Bah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, volleyball's for sport. Volleyball's dope. Sports are dope. So fun. Playing basketball. Basketball's dope. So I feel like I already have some of those motor neurons built in, and then whenever I see like the high-level basketball, I'm like, that's how you do it, you know what I'm saying? Give me a little bit more handle, a little more know-with, you know what I'm saying? Give me what to do.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Yeah. I think that that thing is real. I think all the knowledge of the engagement. I had a moment where my self-conscious. It's your subconscious, I think, too. Like, what it knows is like we don't know. And just tapping into that sometimes. I'm trying to say, I read his bumper sticker. I read it before I read it. Like it said, are they are they working on a project out there they saw on a bridge down? I don't know, dude.

SPEAKER_06

I think they're taking down the Tower of Babylon over here or something's going on. Something more over here. I don't know. Hearing something. Anyways, we'll see if we can push through. Home improvement. DIY.

SPEAKER_11

What's his catchphrase? Howdy neighbor. No, that's what I'm sayers. Yeah. Home improvement. He I thought he had a catchphrase. I'm out of there. Out of there. It's fine. I'm out. I don't know what the hell we're talking about. I'm out. I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, that backstays too much.

SPEAKER_11

Forget about it, bro.

SPEAKER_10

Forget about it.

SPEAKER_11

Playing with the voice. Christowskins.

SPEAKER_00

Basketball.

SPEAKER_11

Subconscious. I'm ready to see. Yeah, dude. I just think your subconscious pulls in more than uh more than we can possibly imagine. Tap into it. We don't know. Sometimes right. We don't know what it is. You have that inspired feeling of being like, You'd probably go do that, bro. Go do that. Put you on a court with anybody. It starts getting once we start hooping, it starts getting weird, bro. I feel like we're running courts. It also gets weird because like at that point, like you're meeting people at the ramp. Like it's it's as aggressive and as confrontational, as fast-paced, as physically demanding as it's gonna get. Like something's gonna something's gonna happen to somebody. Something's gonna bend. I know it's naive, so it's like we're either gonna dub out all day long, or you know, we'll see what happens.

SPEAKER_05

Meaning about the rim.

SPEAKER_06

That's pretty confrontational.

SPEAKER_11

I tried to dunk on somebody the other day for sure. Yeah, yeah. He was like, my friend, and like I'm going up and always touching the backboard like with my lips. Like, I'm jumping pretty high, you know. Feeling bouncy. For sure. Feeling bouncy, feeling light, feeling light, I'm flying. Like, whoo! It's like go up, and I'm you know, touching backboard. And so I go up on like a fast break, and then I cut and they give me the ball, and then I'm like going up with both of my hands on the left side, and then I'm kind of thinking I might I want to get to my left hand, but my angle's just fine easier for my right hand to just let it go. And I'm like making that decision, and then my homie like gets there and like fouls me on the hand as I'm about to let it go. Like, I'm like right at the rim, and I was like, I have to dunk on you, like fine, fine. Like he's my friend. I'm like, fine, bitch. Like you asked for it. I tried to just I tried to get there and just drop it in there, but no, I'm gonna have to try to dunk on you, and then I went for it, but I wasn't just not we're not quite there. Not quite I can catch the putt back.

SPEAKER_06

That's Stefano Castle.

SPEAKER_11

I did like the lightest little drop in, but to get up. It's weird because your momentum and your jump angle can change things too. Like you get some momentum going. You would think a contested dunk would be harder, but if you're like running downhill, you have a nice gather, you just go up, you're up there.

unknown

You're up there.

SPEAKER_11

You can get some elevation. So that's the goal. Dunk dunk hard about like my 32 second birthday. Dunk hard, have some nice strong workouts going into that week. Time is moving quick, dog. We're pulling up on the birthday season for real, bro. Yeah, it's happening now.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's kind of nice. We're getting carried to it with the FIFA World Cup into like our birthday season, which leads into NFL season. Which is like a whole nother book of life all with, or you know what I'm saying? It's like the another rotation around the same portion of the flat circle at this time. Dude. Like, yeah, this part, I like this.

SPEAKER_03

I like this place.

SPEAKER_06

When we get football back, pick'ems, the the football, the pickarooskies, the end, the level of in in touch that I tried to put myself into during that season of time, you know what I'm saying? Especially last season. Developing that further, so you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think that's gonna be fun.

SPEAKER_11

The end-tune feeling is crazy. I can't I I won't be able to. Time's going by so fast.

SPEAKER_07

So fast, man.

SPEAKER_11

Too fast, man.

SPEAKER_07

So fast.

SPEAKER_06

It's over halfway over.

SPEAKER_11

Maybe he's gonna be two, bro. It's gonna be Christmas soon, bro. Get out of my head, bro. What are we doing, man? It's the plight. It's literally the flight. It's it's the it's the center of the cross. Trying to manifest the now across the barrier of our sin and our downfall to better reality. And serving the situation. Just serve the situation as it comes. Having the separation of our fleshly thoughts and our spiritual understanding. Based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. And our perceptions, the perceptions of those which is God given, which is beyond our own conception. And our own perceptions to perceive how we were able to understand. Like, why does Jordan Peterson strike a chord? It's like he's Dumbledore. Yeah. So there's some kind of order going on there. There's some kind of something here. Yeah, I'm trying to ring, I'm trying to read Jung and Dostoevsky and Freud and Nick.

SPEAKER_06

Dostoevsky? Right. Yeah. I think he was talking about his books particularly. He's like, these books were these were fictional books that like changed the way that I view non-fictional reality.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, I think one of his bangers is Crime and Punishment.

SPEAKER_06

Right, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

I was trying to bring this up in conversation and I freaking flopped it. Freaking flop. It upsets me to this day. I fumbled this freaking sentence, but I was trying to express, like, yeah, in that book, he's just trying to say that you can't. No sin goes unpunished. Like you can't do something that's against your spirit or the wrong thing to do or the bad thing, like the evil thing to do, and not have it like manifest in your life as a manifestation of hell. That your life will get worse. Like things are it's not selling parts of your soul is a simple exchange. It's like crime and punishment. I think that's like what he's pointing to with the title of the book, you know. And that the punishment is like uh terrible, tormenting. You can mean one situation and things aren't hell, and then just slightly different settings, or a little tweak in your reality, and also that's like a terrible hell, you know.

SPEAKER_06

It's always there. Oh man. JBP just be hitting though, dog. Dumbledore energy for real. The story beyond the story. He carries that what level of wisdom.

SPEAKER_11

Those are all the people that Jordan Peterson points to, also, is why I kind of want to I think he's the next person on that name.

SPEAKER_06

Let me get up in that let me get up in some of the foundation.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, you could you can get an undergraduate degree understanding what all those people think if you could write a dissertation on the current state of the philosophical landscape based on the mile markers of big thinkers over the last 2,000 years. Yeah, that's that's what you go to college for. But that's what that's what I want to understand. I mean, that's like what Jordan Peterson he's like understanding that would understand as far as we've understood, as far as consciousness goes. Unless, because you're never gonna know what like Tesla thought, you know, Nikolai Tesla. You're never gonna know what Einstein thought. Like some of this stuff's lost history. Library of Alexandria never gonna know what they thought about consciousness or Egypt, any of that shit, but I kind of want to be on the forefront, kind of be on the cutting edge of what people know about consciousness. I'm doing some crazy stuff. My intuition's crazy, my intuition's crazy. I had it intuition and intuition? Yeah, it's two different okay. What is it? What is that? Intuition is like uh, and I got these um I got these terms from like Chase Hughes or someone like that. Okay. I didn't just make the shit up. But intuition is like uh you have a feeling of the way things that are gonna play out. Like kind of like when you know Kansas City's just gonna cover.

SPEAKER_06

They're covering.

SPEAKER_11

I just know, bro. I'm so sure. You can I feel it here, bro.

SPEAKER_06

Put them in the power.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, yeah. I can tell you all the reasons why they're not really gonna make sense. But what the And I'll die on the hill. Yeah, I'll die on the hill. Bigger than all those reasons is that like I just have this feeling in here now, and that's like more of an intuition. But inter inter intuition is knowing something is going to happen as it's happening in the moment, in the now. It's almost like deja vu, like you've been there before, but it's just like you have beyond certainty, you have intuition of like knowing exactly what's going on in the moment. And um sometimes it's like in a movie where like you literally know what's about to happen next, but then and it doesn't come to you until like it's like a right about to happen, and then you're like seeing it play out, or like if you you just know what the person's gonna say next to you because you've been with them so many times, you know. Or this is also the feeling, uh in my opinion, of like when I know someone's gonna call me. It's like I get an intuition of like I feel that person, or like when y'all be texting me, bro, I feel y'all, bro. I swear, especially if I'm like relatively in tune, if I'm playing basketball, it's like a wide open frequency where like I just get this feeling of grace, or grace pops up on my mental, and I think about her, and then 60 seconds later it's like blah-bing, she texts me, and I'm like, bruh, what the f what is that, you know? It'll happen two or three times in a row, and I'm just like, okay, well, I'm tripping, or what, you know, hard to explain. So then this is where it got crazy.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's like reverse, or it's like intuition is coming from the inside into the outside, and then the opposite for intuition is like the outside is coming into your normal whatever thought matrix you're having at the moment, and then you're like, oh wait, this is gonna happen.

SPEAKER_11

That makes a lot of sense, yeah. To receive it like that, to put it in a juxtaposed dichotomy. I want my JPP shit now, you got me locked in. JPP. So yeah, the other day, alright, check this out. We're in the back of the restaurant, and there's a glass sitting, and it's mildly precariously perched. Mildly, perched, precariously, yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, what are you doing over there?

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, and I'm like navigating over to that area, but there's something that kind of stops everybody, and then I just like notice this glass, and a girl next to me notices this glass, and then when she noticed it, it activated my intuition to have certainty that like this glass is about to fall. And I just like reach my I reach my hand out like this, and as I do, it falls perfectly into my hand, and I catch it, and I just hold it. And the girl's like, Did you know that was gonna fall? And I was like, I did, but mostly because I saw you realize that it was gonna fall before it fell, and that made me for sure know. But yeah, yeah, I felt it and then I saw you feel it, and then I did the thing. She was like, What is that? I was like, I don't know, I don't know. What I have a podcast about it? I don't know. I have a podcast about it. You should start one intervention. Yeah. So that was like it felt like the upper limits of the more free and more flow state I have, the more like the more dancing with the rhythm of life that I'm doing, which has to come from a kind of a free place. I feel like the higher my capacity to have personacity for that is. Feels like, dude, okay. Last time I'm gonna talk about having superpowers or whatever, feeling like heavy sp lately. This was one of the craziest moments. I walk up to it, I walk up to a table, unashamed, walk up to the table, unashamedly walk up to the table right up to them after the glass that I was pokariously perched. And I look at them and I start talking to them, and I just like kind of get off of the normal cutscene dialogue, and I'm like, where are you guys from? From because I'm getting round rock, I'm getting flukeerville, I'm getting B caves. Where are you guys from? And they're like, Round rock. And I was like, ladies and gentlemen, but it's Matthew Millett, I'll be here all night. Yo, like, I just didn't they they reeked of it. Like they reeked of it, it was all over them.

SPEAKER_03

Reek They reeked of round rock. You smell like round rock. Where are you from?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_10

It's painting it, painting it in a different brush.

SPEAKER_02

It's hilarious.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Uh they were like, how'd you what how'd you do that? And I was just like, I talked to so many people for so many years, I just feel like my my learning model sometimes gets like oddly specific with my intuition. And then I grew up on Round Rock, you know. I played in like Ton of Country sports programs. I feel like I have seen y'all at a time of country event before, sort of like sparked my intuition, but then it felt so right. I had to ask you guys. And then the the guy was like, I'm paying tonight. This guy's crazy. And then yeah, he's super nice too. I was like, Thanks, bro. This guy's gone off. Yeah, he's like, What do you guys think? Told him about the mission. He's like, this guy's legit.

SPEAKER_05

We're just on a different kind of mission.

SPEAKER_11

I'm watching psych. Psych and though. That's some psych stuff. It's psychedelic. Hey, you know what? That's that's as far as psychics get, I feel like. I don't feel like there's any real psychics. Most of them are doing what Sean Spencer does on the show Psych.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, which is what?

SPEAKER_11

Using their level of persipacity and intuition to make predictions, you know what I mean? Most of the time they're broad and generalized and are bound to come true. Or you hear a story and you're like, oh, he's cheating on you. And then you don't have to be a genius to figure that out, you know. That that's what, and there might be literal wizards and witches out there. I think there's definitely literal witches out there. There's definitely people channeling evil spirits potentially. We are in a spiritual warfare. It's not, you know, it's not superstitious, supernatural. It's out there, it's beyond us. It's beyond us.

SPEAKER_06

It's beyond us.

SPEAKER_11

But that moment of personacity blew my own effing mind. I went into my mind's eye, and then in whatever room I was standing in, I looked into a mirror, and then in the mirror, I was like, what do you want? How do you do that?

unknown

What the fuck?

SPEAKER_11

Who are you? What's up, round rock in the house tonight? How are y'all doing? That's crazy. Okay, I get it. Just pulling it out. But just being tapped in. The ones and zeros. Crazy level of like just feeling the feeling the vibes. And I think it's been my fascination with consciousness that took me there too.

SPEAKER_05

Think of non-consciousness.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's it's uh inarguable and indescribable. We know what it is, but we have no idea what it is. We can put a label on it. And even the label gets who knows? Kind of stretched or whatever. But something's going on here. We're all awake, people, and we're consuming all the time.

SPEAKER_11

We've explored it a lot. Your average person explores it a lot. Not everybody's explored it as much as we have. And then how much you explore your consciousness can really dictate your maturity level or something.

SPEAKER_06

I think something to the wisdom aspect of being able to see around the corner or being able to sort of know how the future's gonna play out.

SPEAKER_11

That's as valuable as on like a metaphysical level. Yeah. Trying to make a good future. I guess we do really focus that on that a lot in the NFL season because we're trying to predict the future a lot. You know?

SPEAKER_06

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

What's the story? What's the truth?

SPEAKER_12

Yeah. Are they really good? Are they good? Can they do it? Are they really bad?

SPEAKER_06

And then we don't like people toiling with that.

SPEAKER_11

These gamblers. The gamblers. Dude, if if it came out today. Scramblers. Let's do a thought experiment. Can we do a new second brought to you by our sponsor, uh, Thought Experiment? Thought experiment. I'd love to. That was perfect. If it came out today that De'Aaron Fox was indeed in the Syndicate confirmed degenerate gamblers and hot take text allegedly pointed towards direct corruption in the finals. What what would your what would your response as a fan? As a fan. How do you what what do you want to happen there? What do you feel, first of all?

SPEAKER_05

A couple things.

SPEAKER_06

A couple things initially rage. Secondarily, more but more primarily. I feel bad for him. You gotta carry this.

unknown

You gotta carry that.

SPEAKER_06

Anybody know? If it's like confirmed, confirmed. It's like you stained. You're stained, you stained again. We're gonna get another one, you know. Without you. We don't need you. Obviously. That's cold.

unknown

That's cold.

SPEAKER_06

But you think get him out is cold?

SPEAKER_11

Get him out. Get 'em get him out. Get the fuck out of my locker room. Just throwing a vinyl source. It's justifiably cold. Sell him to Toronto next week. Well, that sounds harsh. Trade him to Toronto next week.

SPEAKER_09

Whoa. Get him out of my locker room. Get him out of my locker room.

SPEAKER_11

I'll say take that asset and flip it for a profit. He's an asset for sure. Go make some make some money for your cap room or get trade picks. Don't do anything brash. Don't cut him. No dead cap. But yeah, no, Philly, I'm with you. So we haven't had that story come out. That's I guess what I'm getting to. Okay. No, no, no. But I'm saying it's not that bad. But that's the upper limit. Like, you know, if this this kid over here is saying he guarantees he's gonna get nine rebounds, he's gonna hustle his ass off to get nine rebounds. And we're we're mad about that. It's damn near impossible to stop.

SPEAKER_06

Right.

SPEAKER_11

If these people are willing to get in debt, and we're basically just saying, like, is it if they like the kneecaps?

SPEAKER_06

Well, just don't gamble with those. Don't get involved in people who touch your kneecaps. Yeah, stay away from the kneecap touching. In any capacity. No one should be touching your kneecaps. In any capacity, dog. Unless that's your spouse.

SPEAKER_11

Some people will come home from gambling and they're like, I'm down 10 G's.

SPEAKER_03

We need a new car.

SPEAKER_11

That's a rough conversation.

SPEAKER_03

I had an Uber here.

SPEAKER_12

That's what I had left. No. No, you didn't. Yeah. Yeah, I did. No.

SPEAKER_09

What happened to me?

SPEAKER_12

No. You left the car at the bar. Because you were drunk and you didn't want to drive.

SPEAKER_09

Oh yeah. That would be nice. It's gone. It's not here anymore.

SPEAKER_02

Where'd you what where'd you who where'd you go? Who took your car?

SPEAKER_10

It's not really that important, but uh we need to go. Like now. Yeah. This is not our house anymore. Back your things.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_10

Oh god.

SPEAKER_02

That's so funny. It's so terrible.

SPEAKER_06

Rough.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, that'd be happening with the people.

SPEAKER_06

That's a reality that exists out there. Oh gosh. That's a frequency. It's a movie. That's a channel where that movie plays. You get a young kid, he's down 30 grand. Oh. Took out a loan. Took out a maca. He's on a rookie deal. Rookie maca.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. So now he's gotta. He's gotta make sure he gets 10 rebounds tonight.

SPEAKER_06

I feel like Sneak Eps.

SPEAKER_11

Then what happens? You you're just cool with that? You gotta be ducking after that. I don't want to talk to those people, bro. I'm not trying to be You can't be stuck in that circle, man.

SPEAKER_06

And the sports gambling is so heavily promoted, it's crazy.

SPEAKER_11

Is it better though? Is it better that there's legal ways to do it? So less people have to get their kneecaps taken off? It's more about the gen. These are thoughts. These are questions.

SPEAKER_06

Yes, right?

SPEAKER_11

They had the same argument about drugs. It's like it's better to have drugs in a store.

SPEAKER_06

Oh it's legal.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So that's our heroin today. No, that that'd be bad, bro. I guess it'd be bad initially, and then allegedly we'd level out, but you're just gonna lose some people. You gotta lose some people.

SPEAKER_05

I'll lose some anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Lose them all every day.

SPEAKER_11

Uh yeah, nah.

SPEAKER_06

Your gambling stuff is real. It's real. It's real. It's unfortunate. I can't wait to gamble in football.

SPEAKER_03

I'm just kidding. I love watching it, predicting the future. It's fun. It's a good time.

SPEAKER_11

It's the difference between playing fantasy football and truly gambling. And I want to cross it so bad. I want to cross the boundary so bad.

SPEAKER_06

And there's an agreed upon initial assumption that everyone's like trying their best, playing by the rules, and trying to win.

unknown

Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Well, we're not all cheating. You know, it's like there are rules.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_11

It's a game. I like the game. It's not like I love the gambling part of it. Bless you. Thank you. But the fact that you can make a living off of this game is that's fascinating. What does it cost to make a living off of this game? You must be willing to gamble. That's where I'm like, ah. I just don't think Jesus wants me to, per se. You know? I don't think he's like, I made you to be the best gambler, Matthew. That is. When I formed you in the world, I was like, this guy's gonna be the best at constantly risking everything.

SPEAKER_06

And was it like the world poker tour? You know what I'm saying? People be getting cake. Getting cake.

SPEAKER_11

We're back. We're back. We're back. Nah, there's a thing there, dude. The market analysis is crazy. I think that there's if you're a good handicapper, that's crazy, man. Like that is a gift, you know? To be able to see around the future and know trends and just have a good touch. Have a good internal learning model. So you can be like three and a half. Are you kidding me? That's a gift. And those people that play poker that are just good, they keep showing up at the finals. What are they lucky?

SPEAKER_06

At some point there is some luck, but then at that point it is the game within the game. The strategy behind the betting and the bluffing. Yeah, betting and the bluffing doll.

SPEAKER_11

The interweaving nature of string theory that runs the metaphysics behind what we see manifested is like probability outcome happening in real time all the time. So then, like, we're playing a game that's probability outcome happening with like shuffled cards. So we get our random, you know, then all the probabilities play out across all the it's such a meta thing that's like kind of banana. So then these personalities in the narratives of playing this game that's so meta upon itself happen to be similar personalities coming back. That also seems like something that would happen, you know. For whatever reason, you get big fish in the pond. So not sure. How did those fish get bigger than the other fish? Not sure. You bullying me?

SPEAKER_08

You just bullying me right now because you're the big fish? Just take my fucking pail. I was using that, pal. Huh?

SPEAKER_07

Jump bell.

SPEAKER_05

Right. You gotta be good at that lying, huh? Oh boy. Can you win and not bluff?

SPEAKER_11

You gotta play. I don't I think you gotta play. I think you definitely have to be able to read bluffs. So you can't just not have bluff language. Can you win and not bluff? I mean, not really. If you're only betting when you have good cards, then people know when you're betting that you have good cards. So they're more likely to fold. So that lowers your outcome of just taking people to the rack. So sometimes. And then how many hands can you win betting? That's also a crazy stat. It's like stolen bases, you know.

SPEAKER_06

It's beyond us. Sometimes I think there are we all have the ability to bluff. I don't lie. We gotta know that going into the game too. Call it a bluff. Yeah. No, I'm meaning you at the rack. I mean you at the rack. Sorry.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. It's nice, nice. I got the boat. Do you got the boat? You don't got a boat. Yeah, gotta do that. Sometimes you gotta go to the rack with a pair of nines.

SPEAKER_12

I'm going, oh! Don't talk on me!

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, that's part of the matrix of the game. Sometimes it's like, yeah, you're bluffing, but you know they're bluffing, and you need them to fold on their bluff to playing chicken. And then dialogue, right? How do you how do you convince them?

SPEAKER_06

I was thinking, if I was gonna go to the WPT sunglasses talk. You gotta have the sunglasses talk. Are you wearing sunglasses when you're playing?

SPEAKER_11

I thought about this, dude. Okay. What are you thinking? If you can look them in the eyes, it's powerful. Right? It's hard though to maintain your composure the whole time and never crack. But if I'm like, you know, looking at this guy dead in his face, I'm like, look at his ships, look at him, I'm all in. It's like, yo, I can I can put the pressure on them with my eyes. But but naturally, I would want to never give anything up. Straight isolation. You can't just have your like your headphones in and stuff, you know.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I think I would have also sunglasses until like the final table or so, you know. So it's like okay.

SPEAKER_11

It's even more aura.

SPEAKER_06

Taking them off right now, dog. I'm going off. We'll go face to face.

SPEAKER_11

Welcome to the table, Justin Solan. Coming alive for it. Here we are at the final four. $175,000 in corner. The full house, dog. The boat. That's crazy. It looks a nice boat. It's a big boat. King's boat. Loyalty. It'll come down to like a king or a queen. Swings it right now. Both of you have a boat. It's just like which one's gonna be higher? Take me to the river. Chaos erupts, bro. We should yeah, dude, those are. I'm with you. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I think it's one of the things I would watch late at night sometimes, you know what I'm saying? It's like randomly during the summer. Yeah, totally. It's like, okay, we'll poke a tour's home. Let's go. This is kind of cool. Very interesting.

SPEAKER_12

You're right.

SPEAKER_06

Probability, mathematics, and then personality.

SPEAKER_11

You're right, bro. We should play it. We should play it. Next time we go to Vegas, let's go play in a tournament while we're there.

SPEAKER_06

That would be fun.

SPEAKER_11

It's like, you know, you pay a price to sign up, and then you're into the end. As long as you don't lose your chips, Doug. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Let's be playing, Dad.

SPEAKER_11

Just go up. Go up and then get out. That's the thing is you gotta. Another percentage that I win when I'm have a good percentage is like a number of hands folded early that I would have lost. If you just like get out without paying and then stay strapped when you have something, and then every now and then bluff so people can't read you, you know? That's uh I feel like that's a good strategy. That that shit cooks. And then yeah, just it gets meta, bro. Like it gets a it turns into the battleground. So like let's say you're very you're relatively conservative, right? So then people are reading you as like you're a conservative gambler, but now you're trying to bet, like you have pockedasis, so you're like, how do I get this pot up without telling everybody that I'm I have the nuts, you know? And then it's like, what do you do with your body language? What do you do with your posture? What do you say? How do you come across? What should you what should you not say? You know? Like, but then there's something in that moment of that dance where you get like an intuition to be like some little movement, or you see somebody else's gesture, and you're like, nah, he doesn't have it. I know what it's like to have it. I have it. And it's like in that moment where it's really uh that's the actual game is being able to feel and have touch and say the right thing, or not intuition and intuition. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Just for going outie right there.

SPEAKER_11

Alright, done. Done talking. Let's go to Las Vegas and play some fucking cards, baby.

SPEAKER_06

That'd be fun. It's probably cheaper to do that too. Might get more out of your money. That is definitely true. If you're paying for like a couple hour tournament, if you're able to last a little bit versus losing or playing as one particular game over that that time. Yeah. So you just pay one fee or whatever, you know what I'm saying? One time fee. And hopefully you get at least uh at least a little bit of your time, maybe.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, for sure. You can make it all you can you can go for the tournament. Yeah, definitely. Play well, you know, just get some luck on your side, get the nuts a couple times, bluff a couple times. You never know.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_08

You never know. You never know.

SPEAKER_11

In the first five hands, if you go full house and straight, win both hands, and on the sixth hand, you start betting high.

SPEAKER_07

People foam. You ride that way. It becomes too costly to play with you.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, bro. And all of a sudden we're up. You know, you're up double your money. Now you're like, okay, I gotta kinda chill. Like, I gotta be wealthy right now. Just gotta make good moves, make smart moves. You gotta hold some of this back. We're chilling a little bit. Alright, the iron's hot. Strike!

SPEAKER_06

I could put anybody y'all in. If I know I got the nuts, I gotta know I got the nuts. But then sometimes you never know if you got the nuts.

SPEAKER_11

This way is usually. Unless you know.

SPEAKER_06

Unless you know.

SPEAKER_11

If you know Poker well enough, you know the the nuts based on the five cards on the table. But I don't always know what that best hand is, you know. I'm not that good. But you could know. If he has the eight of spades, I'm fudge nuggeted. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

It's like what could beat me here? Only these things. Yeah, life is Does he have those? I don't think so. I'll think so.

SPEAKER_11

I'll think so. I think business is poker. Gambling. Or just the idea of poker like happening bluffing and having leverage.

SPEAKER_06

I heard Jordan Peterson say it in the podcasts that he's been releasing lately, which is awesome. But like uh like we're gambling with our lives, you know, like in the decisions that we're making to a degree. Yeah. Life's a gamble, place your bets.

SPEAKER_11

It is, bro.

SPEAKER_06

I'm just gambling home for the future. We don't know what's gonna happen. That's kind of what's there. That's kind of like the nugget that's built on. That's why everything's a gamble, because we don't know what's gonna happen. That's what a gamble is. And we're trying to make assumptions. Make it make sense.

SPEAKER_05

Make it make a sense, though.

SPEAKER_11

My current state of consciousness can we can go to Las Vegas for our birthdays two months. And go crazy. We could. Like, we can dance with the rhythm of the night. We can get hot. First night I was there last night, I turned $300 to $1,000. Then next session, $300 to $1,000. Granted, I lost both of those thousand dollars in those sessions. But I learned you you gotta three 3x get out, move, get a Mai Thai, get a Red Bull, go ahead and slot, do something different, you know? Follow the rhythm of the night. You can't just sit there and get rich overnight on a table like I thought I could.

SPEAKER_09

Go on Louisiana, gold nugget.

SPEAKER_11

Trying to change my life, bro. It's like, oh, I get it.

SPEAKER_07

I got it. I cracked the code.

SPEAKER_11

It really felt like that.

unknown

I cracked the code.

SPEAKER_11

You did crack the code. Different code.

SPEAKER_05

Cracked it for sure.

SPEAKER_11

We came back and life was different.

SPEAKER_02

Cracked the code.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, for sure. Later stories.

unknown

Man.

SPEAKER_06

Life's a good story. What uh any any other roundabout bow tie em up moments that we're trying to talk about? I know we talked about sports. We talked about the headlines. We talked about life. Jordan Peterson, subconscious, predicting the future. And we were just finishing with uh that's what that's what we're doing. We're predicting the future. We're trying to create the future. Or inter like inter uh connected at the point of both of those things happening and being true at the same time. Everything's a gamble, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Poker.

SPEAKER_11

What are we talking about? Everything's card games. Yeah. Card games are fun because it's a meta game of chance of potential reality playing out with in your hands. But but yeah, we're constantly gambling or putting our shapes of belief into things, making investments with our time and our energy, with our lives, positioning ourselves in the name of a better future. Consciously or subconsciously, you know, like or we have to do it, like if you're gonna find a place to live or find a job or any of this stuff, you know. And sometimes like you're making bad bets and you don't even realize you're making wagers. Just going with the flow is one thing. That actually usually works. But all but limiting yourself through limiting belief systems and like low achieving status based on a lack of self-confidence, those things, that's not cool. And that's something you could be doing wrong with your wagers.

SPEAKER_03

Place the game will place your bets.

SPEAKER_11

It's complicated and nuanced game.

SPEAKER_06

We don't know, but we know that there's something out there that knows. And address that thing, and that that thing exists.

SPEAKER_08

And I just can't know about it fully, because I just there's some things that we don't know, you know?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Who's like, no, I know everything. I know everything about everything we're talking about. I understand everything to the fullest depth of everything. What do you mean? Bricks.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, beat it, dog. Freaking yeah, yeah. Who are you, bro?

SPEAKER_06

So we're uh we just don't know, but there's something out there that us know. We're trying to figure it out. We're just gambling, going through the best we can, being led by something, and we hope that that thing is Christ-like in its essence. Whether we know the scriptures or not, I think that's what's happening.

SPEAKER_11

Your nature is to go that way. Your heart wants to go that way, your spirit wants to design it. You want to go that way. You want to go that way.

SPEAKER_06

It's home.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah. Yeah. I know deep down.

SPEAKER_06

The meaning that justifies the suffering you're going through.

SPEAKER_11

Explore and yeah, my party watching, explore your explore your consciousness. We're talking about 2D problems. When you have a 3D spirit, it's like as soon as you explore your consciousness and can get to a place where you're just expressing authenticity with who you are and what you feel and believe in, who you want to be, then the decisions are like it's you it you don't have to be so strategic. It's like they come to you. It comes to you. You just have to intuit and follow that, go that way. And then then you're going with the flow. Then things are better. That way. His way's better. That way. Yeah, your way's better. So relieving. You're talking about like on the last podcast, how it seems like a punishment.

SPEAKER_05

It's so relieving. Mm-hmm. Simple.

SPEAKER_11

You're wonderfully made. Be you. Trust the process. Things are great. Follow God.

SPEAKER_07

That's all I got for him. We love you. I love you. We'll see you next week.

SPEAKER_00

Can't wait. Peace. Bye.

SPEAKER_07

Rolling through the city to the line. Really ain't no telling where we might go. I just thought this would be telling my mind.
