Episode 53: Are You Busy or in a Hurry with Linda Glover
Show Notes

If you feel like you have only two speeds, hustle and exhaustion, this episode is for you.

In this episode I interviewed my highschool friend, Linda Glover (G-luv-er 😉). Linda is a former professional musician turned real estate agent who recently shared a video on her social media about being stuck in “hustle culture.”

Linda grew up thinking being in a constant rush is the norm but after marrying her husband who is way more chill, she saw there’s another way to live. She started to ask herself the question, “Why am I still in a rush, when I have time?.”

Shifting from being in a constant state of urgency requires one to be okay with the discomfort of stillness. It requires us to ask deeper questions of why we are programmed to be doing all the time. Why do we have such a resistance to rest? What makes us so proud of hustling?

In addition to asking the deep questions, we need to acknowledge that we have time. If you have free time on your schedule can you prevent yourself from filling it with ‘to-dos’ and instead rest and connect with your body. Can you allow yourself to celebrate every small step you take in choosing to rest, even if it’s just a moment to take a couple breathes.

Listen to Linda’s story about how leaning into rest has supported her disordered eating, career and managing her daughter’s diagnosis of neurodivergence.

In this episode you will learn:

  1. Linda’s story of hustle culture and disordered eating
  2. Difference between busyness and hurriedness
  3. Tips for slowing down and allowing rest
  4. Linda’s journey so far with neurodiversity
