Who are the Righteous Among the Nations? An interview with Sheryl Silver Ochayon
Show Notes

In this espisode I am talking to Sheryl Silver Ochayon from Yad Vashem about Righteous Among the Nations (in Hebrew: חֲסִידֵי אֻמּוֹת הָעוֹלָם‎, ḥasidei ummot ha`olam ).

Righteous Among the Nations is an honorific used by the State of Israel to describe non-Jews who risked their lives during the Holocaust to save Jews from extermination by the Nazis for altruistic reasons.

When Yad Vashem, the Shoah Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority, was established in 1953 by the Knesset (the Israeli Parliment), one of its tasks was to commemorate the "Righteous Among the Nations".

How many Righteous Among the Nations are there? Join me to find out.
