Hello and welcome to the Travel Expert Show. I am Letitia Robertson and I'm here to give you those helpful tips that you need in order to have a successful travel and travel experience, um, travel planning experience rather. Now, today I will be talking about the ocean view versus balcony cabins when you're on a cruise ship, of course. Um, which which is the better option? Now, this decision is one of the most important decisions you'll need when you're booking a cruise, deciding what your room type is gonna be. So you definitely want to make sure you have that in mind. Now, the thing is, is that we're we're gonna judge and give you those tips that helps you with uh making that decision easy for you. Now, um, I'm gonna start off with balconies versus ocean views, the similarities. So ocean view and balcony cabins are more alike than they are different. In general, both are the same size and can be located on almost any deck in any location. Forward, midship, mid midship, um, you know, throughout the cruise ship. Um, you can have balcony, they can be on the lower decks, you know, you can have balconies on the lower deck. So, you know, you definitely want to um decide that they they they they all have the same standard amenities, such as TVs, the hairdryers, the safes, coffee makers, and some even have many fridges. The bathrooms are typically about the same, whether you're um whether you're on a balcony or you know, ocean view, regular cabin, that type of thing. Um, so you know, at least you don't have to worry about the difference, you know, smaller bathrooms or anything like that. The uh they generally have, you know, you have the stand-up shower, sink and toilet. So um now the shelf space may be limited. Um, that may be the only thing. But uh the that that's pretty much the differences that I mean, you know, the that's the similarities that you have. Now, the differences maybe you'll have like a rectangular window as opposed to a round porthole. Um, and then um most balcony cabins, they have floor-to-ceiling glass doors, which is really nice. That brings a lot of sunshine into your cabin. Um, so that's that's pretty good. You you get that good vitamin D while you're on vacation, um, that type of thing. Um and and also you have that outside, you know, with the balcony, you have that outside space, you know, which typically has the two deck chairs and uh the little round table. So, you know, that's that's additional space that you can have and you can enjoy your cruise. Um, so that's really good. Uh, you know, you can if you don't want to be amongst you know the crowd of people, you can just sit out on your balcony and and enjoy the the good breeze from the sea air. I mean, that's really good. Um especially when when you're sailing, you know, in the Caribbean with the warm weather destinations, those are always good. Now, those cold weather destinations like um Alaska or Norway, um, that will be is more so you'll be looking at the scenery because I I just don't think you'll you'll want to deal with the cold weather, but that's always good. Um, but you know, like I said before, those are the things that you definitely want to be sure to think about when you're planning your trip, whether or not you want an ocean view regular cabin or you like the balcony cabin. Um, some people tend to go for the balcony just so they can have that additional space. Um, you know, you you don't want to be cramped up in your in your cabin and things. And if you decide you don't want to leave out um and and like I said, go amongst the the people throughout the ship, you can just sit out on your private balcony and enjoy the cruise that way. So that's always good. Um and so making that decision, that's that's top of mind. You know, you just have to think of those type of things. I mean, and and and you know, you take into consideration the amenities that you have um when when you're doing your you know, planning your trip. But as I said to always say, you know, the bottom line is whether you choose ocean view or a cabin, should you come down to two primary considerations, your price and your itinerary. Those that's the bottom line. I mean, you know, whether you're gonna, you know, whether it's you're sailing into the Caribbean or like I said, those Alaskan, Alaska, Norway uh destinations, the bottom line definitely is gonna be the price and the itinerary. Because, you know, you want to be sure that you're gonna enjoy your you know your cruise and things of that sort. I mean, cruise ships are typically about the same. You have you have all these different activities on the cruise ship. I mean, some people don't even go out for it for excursions, you know. They they typically, you know, they will just, I guess, um take advantage of those experiences that are already, you know, on the cruise and that's included in your price. Um, you don't you won't have any additional prices that you would have to worry about. I remember, you know, my family and I, we went on a cruise and I just wasn't thinking, I mean, I was ordering specialty drinks and taking photos, you know, all the different photos that they offer you on the cruise. And then, you know, I'm just thinking, because that was my first time on a cruise ship. So I was just thinking that it was all included. And then just before we got back to the US to fly back home, they slid that little uh bill under my door. I had to pay an additional $230 that I wasn't really expecting because, you know, I I like I said, you know, that was my first time cruising, and I didn't know that those things were not included.
