Devotional: From Bedrock To The Upper Room
I am Marben Bland Pastor Of The Greater Bethel AME Church in Athens, Georgia with a living the word moment.
Fred Flintstone’s dusty, barefoot treks through Bedrock offer more than a laugh—they mirror life in Jesus’ time, when walking left feet crusty, tired, and worn.
In John 13, Jesus—fully aware of His coming betrayal—stoops to wash His disciples’ feet. The Son of God performs the task of the lowliest servant, teaching us that greatness begins with humility.
“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet” (John 13:14).
This wasn’t just about dirt—it was a symbol of spiritual cleansing. Jesus reminds us: “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me” (John 13:8).
So this Holy Week, don’t hide your feet—or your heart. Let Jesus wash you, love you, and lead you.
Even in Bedrock, grace walks barefoot.
