The panel will include three Elon University communications professors and will be moderated by Dr. Rochelle Ford, APR, Dean of the School of Communications at Elon.
Dr. Vanessa Bravo, Department Chair of Strategic Communications. Dr. Bravo will speak about underrepresentation of Latinos in public relations, academia, and as audiences, and how this underrepresentation impacts organizations, PR effectiveness, and students’ interest in the field. Dr. Denise Hill, APR, Associate Professor of Strategic Communications. Dr. Hill will speak about the importance of shining a light on black history and current issues throughout the year, not just during Black History Month, and the role of public relations in this concept. Michele Lashley, Assistant Professor of Strategic Communications. Professor Lashley will speak about LGBTQIA representation in the public relations industry, with a focus on best practices about communicating with LGBTQ+ audiences.
