Welcome to another episode of Rough Talk VR, a weekly podcast with in-depth game reviews, exclusive developer interviews, and the latest MetaQuest and virtual reality news. We join our hosts, the Father Sun team of D Scruffles and Stratus today, as they spend another episode breaking down and discussing the world of virtual reality.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, welcome to this episode of Rough Talk VR, coming at you with an in-person edition of VR News. You weren't were not called into work this week on a Sunday.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

That's good. We got to play some goods. I'll even double confirm. Could you imagine 10 missed calls, you know? That'd be funny. I would have felt that. But we've we've been having a blast this week with Grim. We've been officially bitten by the Grim bug. It's funny. We we talked a little bit about it last week, you know, uh building our base and you know, things going right, wrong, and everything in between. We built another great base to start the week, and then boom, next day was wipe. Like we we logged on, we're like, where's our base? Oh shit. Servers just reset. But I feel like we're getting so good at building a quick foundation of a base.

SPEAKER_02

I'm happy we're back into playing the and we had said it a couple weeks ago. The biggest problem, if there's an issue with Grim, is it's not like you know, technically, you can't just go in and be like, I'll just play for 30 minutes and I'll see you again next week. I'll come back in a day or two. I mean, you technically could, right? But if you really want to enjoy it, you gotta be like, all right, I'm gonna go in for like an hour, hour and a half a day. Got target goals we're gonna achieve. Sometimes we don't achieve them. We'll talk about that soon enough. But so I'm I'm just stoked that we're like we've both made the investment to be like, all right, you know, let's let's spend a couple weeks and just run hard. And everything I'm learning in Rust is like the easiest carryover. I'm able to push Grim now in ways that I didn't before because I wasn't as comfortable and familiar. It's basically the same game, you know. Uh as far as like most of the shit you see, yeah. A couple you know, to to cra get stuff in rust. Technically, you hit specific locations on a tree, little X will show up, hit that for the maximum, you know. Dig dig dig. You don't have to do that in Grim. I actually appreciate that. I don't the same thing when you do rocks and an ore in rust, little light will shine up on the rock, and that's technically where you want to hit it, and it'll go faster than just not. But again, in Grim, you can just hit the freaking rock or the ore.

SPEAKER_01

We have a pretty good base right now. It's all stone. We got a stone door. I'd very proud of that metal door. That's our current goal is to switch all of our wooden doors. Six inside doors.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's a maze, dude. When we logged in, I got I legit got I was confused of location. I'm like, fuck, I don't actually know where the front door is at this moment because there's doors everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

That's our logic with it right now. Is if you manage to break down the front door, cool. You got two more, and that's if you go the correct way. Yeah, there's a couple left or what rights, and you go one way inside the other, you have a couple extra doors to break through.

SPEAKER_02

And and one of those doors, I've got shit built on the other side of it because I'm never using it. I should probably just ditch the door and just fill in the wall.

SPEAKER_01

That would make sense for that last room where our sleeping bags are.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't know why I got two doors in there.

SPEAKER_01

But you know, so wipe happened. We're like, okay, now this day it is spent, you know, re-regetting to where we were, and we did it pretty quickly.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Had a nice foundation, like 10 minutes, doors everywhere, whole thing was stone, we're good to go. We log off. Come back. Oh, me we made sure we had enough materials in the tool cabinet to last a couple days. We come on the next day, like a bunch of Moes, Momo's. We have our in-game mic on. Which I was fully aware of. And we're talking about our plans of what we're gonna go do. You know, full disclosure, our plan was to go pick up some scrap to go bring to the refinery and get some metal fragments. That way we could start to make metal doors and stuff. Mind you, I had heard someone earlier. I just figured that if somebody was out there, we'd, you know, two on one of them with bone arrows.

SPEAKER_02

I heard someone outside, but you don't know exactly where someone is. So that was, but then I didn't hear shit.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Yeah, props to this guy because we're we'd plot everything, we finally go to leave. As soon as you open the door, there was somebody squatting down with a shotgun pointed at your face and instantly killed you. That must have been the biggest jump scare. Yeah, I jumped in real life.

SPEAKER_02

Because I I was I arrogantly opened it. I knew there was two more doors. There was the front door, and then the door I was gonna open. Now I heard someone, but I'm making the assumption that they were just passing by, or yeah, they were outside. I haven't heard them in a while. So I reached over and click, door swung open, and I went, pow! I was like, holy shit, dude! And you go, What was that? And then I hear pow. And thank God though, I respond back to our sleeping bag, and I see the dude right where he had killed us, probably looting us, right? And then because we were clearly talking about let's go cash in everything, and frickin' he's running to me, and I clicked the door, and as the door shut, he got the shot off again and killed me, but now I'm timed out from respawning, so I didn't know if my I didn't know if the door had actually closed, or he was now in our sleeping bag room, which really would have been a problem, but it turns out that I did close the door.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because then I spawned back to I originally just assumed that the base was gone. Like I was like, okay, homie took the base. Yeah. So I spawned elsewhere, and then somebody else killed me. So I'm like, okay, let me go, let me go to the sleeping bag and see what's going on. I spawned in sleeping bag, not thinking that I won't be able to open up the doors because you're you were the owner. So I can't. I spawned in with it where our sleeping bags is literally this little square.

SPEAKER_02

The key locks on the door, not the code locks.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for now. We'll eventually get code locks, but at this time it was key locks. I spawn in and like our rooms, just a couple of squares each way. It's a pretty small tight space with uh you know uh a storage cabinet in there, a storage box, and I go, Oh shit, I can't open up the doors. And I hear this dude hacking away at stuff. I'm like, I'm I'm effectively trapped. Yep. So I do the only thing I can think to do, and I start pleading my case with the guy. I'm like, come on, man, this is this is pretty cruel. I was like, I you know I'm just trying to learn the game. Yeah, I was like, I'm just trying to, I'm just trying to get better at the game. I'm new at the game. I've I've never played before. I'm just trying to learn. I'm playing with my dad over here. This is some father-son time. I'm pleading my case. I'm like, dude, look, shotgun kill was great. I'll give you props there, but keeping me trapped in here is pretty cruel. And then I hear him trying to smash down the door. And I'm even saying to him, I'm like, why are you trying to smash down the door? You're the base owner now, like just open this shit. I was like, is this just like for the love of the game at this point? You know, you're just saying this. And I was like, the I remember at one point I was like, the least you could do is at least talk to me. If you're going to keep me trapped here and be all heinous like this, you could at least give me the decency to have a little conversation with me. And I'm just I hear him breaking items against the door trying to break it down. And I'm like, dude, when you break down this door, are you gonna kill me or you're gonna let me go? Like, what's going on? After you're you're sitting there pissing yourself, you're like, dude, you have to record this. Yeah, oh yeah, it should have been recorded earlier.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, I was like, you have to record this, dude. This is too too freaking good to not have.

SPEAKER_01

And at one point I was like, dude, think of the player base, like the numbers of the game. Like, how is this game ever gonna get more players if this is how people behave? You see me, I'm naked, I don't have much, I'm just getting started, and you're gonna kill a new player like this. Come on, man. Finally, I hear his mic come on, and he's like, Can you hear me? And I'm like, Oh shit, yeah, yeah, I can hear you. He's like, I thought you could hear me the whole time, but you were ignoring me, so I won't lie. That pissed me off more, and I was gonna kill you because of it. He's like, but what you said about the player count, he's like, he's like, you have a point there. He's like, he goes, so one, you guys are kind of dumbasses for talking with the mic on. He's like, don't do that. And he goes, and your door sucks, it's a wooden door, you need a metal door. I'm like, I'm aware that's what we were trying to go do before you killed us. And he goes, I killed you for the love of the game as well, too. Like it was just fun. And I was like, I totally get that. If I was in your standpoint, I probably would have done the same. And he goes, but now I feel pretty bad about what I've done. He goes, you're new and everything. So what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna put 3,000 stone in your tool cabinet so that way you're pimped out, ready to go. And he goes, You don't have any metal, do you? I was like, nope, that is what we were, like I said, trying to go do before you blasted us in the face with a shotgun. And he goes, Okay, hang tight here. Meanwhile, I have no choice but to hang tight here. I can't open up a door. He's like, I'm gonna go run and grab some metal for you. And he goes, I'm guessing you don't have any weapons, right? I went, Well, I had the bone arrow that you've taken. And he goes, Alright, so I'm gonna leave you the shotgun that I killed you with. And then so you spawn back, open up the door I'm in. And you're you're you were a little skeptical that he was never gonna come back. Like that was just the last little troll from him, you know, saying that he was gonna give a shit and then doesn't.

SPEAKER_02

Well, he ran into me on the way when I was coming back, he ran into me and gave me back all the shit he took for me before I got to the base.

SPEAKER_01

You're a pretty nice guy, right? Finally he comes back and he does indeed give about 2,000 or 200 metal, couple thousand stone, and a shotgun. So I went from being trapped in a box to a pretty wholesome encounter. Trapped in your own base. But then we, you know, we were gonna log off, but then you built the metal door. We replaced the door with a metal one. Put some code lock on it. And then we were like, shit, now we need metal to keep the base alive. If not, this base is gonna be gone in nine hours. So then we go and you know, we we make a quick run to the refinery just to get enough metal to keep our base alive. On the way there, a dude on a horse rides by, shoots you in the face. I once again plead my case. I'm like, come on, man. Doesn't have to be like this, man. I'm not here for trouble. The guy just kept looking at me. I'm like, he's gonna kill me. Ended up letting me go. So I'm like, alright, dude, he's gone now. So then you spawn back, you run over, you pick up all the stuff that you you died with, we make it to the refinery, bada bing, bada boom, refine a bunch of shit, get a couple hundred metal. Now our base is thriving at this point. We we're set for a couple days, materials-wise.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you can take it, but you're gonna earn it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you're gonna really earn it. And had an encounter that was pretty ruthless that ended up pretty wholesome in the end as well.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, if you lay on the sympathy, it's worked for me a couple times now. We said all the right hashtags. New player, father son. Oh, the ones last night though you kind of blew your own spot with. I know you were a little you were a little loose, and then they were like, I haven't really played it. They kept me alive though, and they're like, Oh, ghost it's a boy. You're like, yeah, yeah, we know about that, and it's like, oh boy, it's easy to figure out this is not our first time playing.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I didn't tell him I didn't tell them I was new. The one last night, I survived. Yeah, they let me go. I'm like three for three with talking my way out of situations in the last couple days. It's been good.

SPEAKER_02

That's if people give you the opportunity. And we ran into that. He was a younger player, but we ran into him and he thought he was gonna die. And he was like, No, you know, then you're like, give me knuckle love, and now now he's in our group. Yeah, and he's like, Do I need to follow you guys now? I'm like, Well, you're not our pet, so I would prefer if you didn't, you know. I don't want you coming into our base. You ain't got access to that. But at in hindsight, if we wanted a third last night, we could have had one, been like, yo, follow us to our base.

SPEAKER_01

Go pick up some metal, go pick up some things to refine. I'll give you access and we know your name. Don't ever do us wrong. Built a workbench yesterday.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's out of the way. Now we need the second level workbench.

SPEAKER_01

And you want the smelter, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the things I can freaking melt down rocks and shit. Well, not stone, but the the metal ore. Save my trip, trip to the refineries.

SPEAKER_01

So, good stuff in Grim. We'll we'll we'll update everyone how our base is going next week.

SPEAKER_02

Of course, wipe is this week, it's once a week, but we'll see how far we can get before we uh I think next time we play, we'll have the solar panel so we can get the lights up and running.

SPEAKER_01

And I think after this wipe, I think we'll get to where we're at now even faster. Like maybe even in one session.

SPEAKER_02

As long as it's not a blueprint wipe. It's when that happens that it's like you're still you're really starting from scratch. But if your blueprints are protected, then whatever you learned, you learned. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

It's good stuff. And then last week was also the upload VR showcase. It's the season of showcases, to say the least. And there were some a lot of titles, you know, similar titles to what we saw on ours as well, too, just with different different marketing beats. But one of the the titles that was not on our showcase, and it has to be one of my most anticipated upcoming games. I'm so excited for this one. It's a VR Roguelike, because there's not enough of those in VR, called Soul Protocol. And they announced at the upload VR Showcase that they are coming in early access on MetaQuest in September. In Soul Protocol, you can have up to yourself and two other players, so total of three, and you manage a spaceship together. Each person on the team takes a different role, either captain, pilot, or gunner. And there's space combat, you fight against other enemy ships with your turrets, uh, you can land the ship, do some exploring, upgrade uh loot, and get ship upgrades, and it just it looks so much fun. It's made by developer Singular Perception, same developers that made Epica. And this game just looks so much fun. I'm gonna have a blast with you managing a ship when it comes out. Such a cool concept for roguelite. I I was so excited to see this one on the showcase, and now actually having a release window, no exact date, but coming sometime in early access in September, and I am absolutely hyped. So Soul Protocol from Developer Singular Perception. If you didn't watch the trailer from upload VR Showcase, definitely worth checking it out. And I think we'll have to find a good third for us on this one. I'm curious how it works with two people, if we'll be able to play it to its full extent, or if you really need, you know, three players, everyone doing one of the roles, but we'll see.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I would hope they have it stepped, so whether you're by yourself or that's what my hope is as well. It's the same, you're getting still a good experience and it's doable versus like it becomes obvious real quick that you could never my only fear is repetition. That's all. If it's if it's like uh like some of the cooking type games that just yeah, the novelty wears off quick. They're fun at first, and then yes, the novelty starts to dwindle quick, but this one has me excited to I think there's a lot of potential with it.

SPEAKER_01

We'll see how the execution is in September, but in the meantime, I am hyped.

SPEAKER_02

All right. Also shown on the upload VR, is it their summer showcase? Yes. Technically, since I know there's multitudes, I don't want to say it wrong, and someone like goes to find a video and it's not there, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Is it not not technically summer yet, though? If we're gonna be technical, isn't summer like the 21st?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's around the corner. Yeah, I'm not saying they need to get this stuff out because you know, some of the info is hot. So we'll we'll say that. It's summer somewhere. How's that? So Street Racer pedal uh pedal rebel. It is it is like this is the one we have seen videos of before. It's actually been on the Rough Talk VR showcase twice. Uh it has been on the upload VR showcase. I have mad respect for this developer. In the most perfect of worlds, you're you're gonna use an actual exercise bike when you play this, and your body leans to dodge and move, and you'll gain you know advantages by actually dodging things and such. Defined as a cyberpunk street racing game. Again, mad props to the developer for doing this, but they actually have a confirmed release date now, so it is coming in 2026 on MetaQuest and Steam VR. October 5th will be the date. So this guy's a madman. Um love the idea. It would be cool if, and this is just one of these, you know, if if VR was more mainstream in popularity, or like more gyms were using like a future approach, and you had the whole line of the bikes, and you had the headsets there waiting for the people to come in, and the controllers were built into the pedals, so there is no you have to put your controllers here to use it, like that skiing game we tried where it's like put this put the controllers in your socks, and it worked, right? It worked fantastic, but it'd be cool to see that integration with an exercise bike that had the technology for that built into the pedals, and then you could truly take full advantage of what I believe they're really trying to offer. But definitely not everyone has that ability to have a they do make stationary uh little adapters for your street bike that you can use inside. I've had a few of those in my life, so that's an option because I to me the only way to really enjoy this you want to be on the bike. Am I wrong? That's what it looks like it's built for, right? I mean be on that stationary bike. I haven't seen a video yet where dudes just stand in there. It's like it's it's made for so the overall experience I'm excited for, but October 5th, you can give it a shot and get excited yourself.

SPEAKER_01

That's gonna be here in absolutely no time. So dude, a couple months. Developer hangs out in our Discord a bit as well, too. He's a cool dude. So wish him the best of luck with this one.

SPEAKER_02

I think you can only wish list it at the moment.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no pre-order or anything.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I mean, let's be honest, even saying like, hey, coming October 5th this far out, even though it is close, that's still, you know, so I get not. Yeah, I get not. Toaster face games. Well, it's one of those freaking awesome names.

SPEAKER_01

Love the name.

SPEAKER_02

Toaster face, dude. Okay, so pedal rebel.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I said it last week. I guess I gotta say it again. It wouldn't be a week of news without playoffs, studio closure, or game cancellation or one of those pieces. So the latest in the the what's the word I'm looking for? The latest in the disappointing news of the VR market right now, developer of Wanderer the Fragments of Fate, mighty eyes. They've announced that unfortunately they have to cancel Wanderer 2 and are ending support for Wanderer Fragments of Fate. They had some stuff on their roadmap specific for the PSVR2 version that would, you know, continue to enhance that addition that they're needing to scrap now. They said that the game did not meet sales expectation, especially on standalone consoles or standalone headsets. Uh, and yeah, they just can't justify the the cost. Uh they put out a nice statement on their Discord. They said they're still still figuring out what's next for Mighty Eyes. But it won't be Wanderer 2 and it won't be Wanderer the Fragments of Fate. They announced Wanderer 2 right before uh Wanderer Fragments of Fate came out. Uh very unfortunate. I wish them the best of luck on what's next. And uh I was excited for Wanderer 2. Wanderer the Fragments of Fate did rot. You know, there's a lot of delays on it, which is one thing. I remember it didn't launch in the best state, bug-wise.

SPEAKER_02

And it was a comical amount of delays on it. Mm-hmm. So for it to it to have come out in a state that it did. I get them not doing a second, but you're gonna drop support. You know, yeah, best of luck to you. Well that's kind of a kick in the ass, dude.

SPEAKER_01

They might not be able to to continue to support it.

SPEAKER_02

Well then close. I mean I'm just I'm being a dick. I know, I'm being a dick. But I just saying because this was a very hyped game, dude. Very hyped. And it's a good game. I mean, like if you if you played it right now today, it's not the same game it was on day one, for sure. Because I got I got screwed over pretty bad on earlier play days of the game. I think you had a soft lock on it, which was really discouraging. Was not pleased about that. So I I get canceling the second, but I mean, really, like if you're gonna invest funds into your next project, what is the real cost to at least keep the game functioning?

SPEAKER_01

Well, it'll stay functioning. It's just that there's there were updates that they were gonna do for it that they're no longer gonna do. But the game will continue to. To work.

SPEAKER_02

Alright. So you feel confident that if an update happens through the headset that affects the game, they'll invest the resources.

SPEAKER_01

I have no idea.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That's my fear, dude. It sucks because it there's a lot going for it. But they could have gone much more all in with fragments of fate.

SPEAKER_01

I also think the game would have done better with like uh just to match the VR market pricing. It was a $49.99 game. And it didn't deliver. 35 out of the gate. $29.99.

SPEAKER_02

29 might have been a stretch. 24, and that would have been like the home run price of, and you could have like overlooked the the early issues.

SPEAKER_01

It's currently got a 3.4 rating on MetaQuest with 487 reviews.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's harsh, man.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's very unfortunate. It is because it had a lot going for it. It's got a 3.95 on PlayStation with about 770 reviews, and then it's got a mixed rating on Steam.

SPEAKER_02

Then you gotta wonder in what state was it in if when they were talking those earlier release dates. Like what was it really like? Because they they knew there was some issues on release.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's a great example that like a great game launched in a not great state is going to very much affect ratings. Well, yeah, you got everybody wanting to play it. Well, and for a $49.99 game or readable VR, you can't you can't have bugs and performance issues. Not with that price tag. No, you get no forgiveness. No, I think the game would have been a lot better suited for like a $29.99. Or like you said, $24.99. But $29.99 still gives them the room to put the game on sale and stuff like that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

$24 is a sweet spot for that though, huh?

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

So now it's, you know, whatever.

SPEAKER_01

So very unfortunate. They're the latest.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I think it's a good move, honestly. Don't don't make the second one. You can't look at that and be like, that's what the people want. Right? If you're the one making those decisions, like, we're gonna do this again. Like, you know, it didn't really go out there and crush it. And that's not taking it, it's a good game. I'm not I don't want to take away from what they have.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was ambitious. It was one of my most anticipated games. Dude, you're like a kid in a candy store. And it just unfortunately did not deliver at launch. Uh, it's much, like I said, much better state now, but you don't have that launch momentum after that. So no, that adrenaline. They've been quiet for quite a while, too. It's unfortunate, but also not the most surprising in this one.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, so we'll talk about something a little more uplifting. Middleman Games. Been on the Rough Talk VR showcase twice now, if I'm correct. Has a hand tracking, mixed reality. Uh you're gonna do little little missions. I it's so far out of my element, even though the videos are amazing. It's called Disembodied, and where your hands go, and it looks like your hands are gonna be together, and you're gonna have to move around to your play space and perform various tasks. Uh, we've seen this game in massive development, I'll say. I thought I thought it was ready a year ago, but what the hell do I know?

SPEAKER_01

I've been wanting to play test this thing, I've been wanting to get my hands on it.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, your your movements are copied one-to-one, so it's like and earlier videos. I'm like, I have so many questions about can you game it? Can you like, but anyways, you can wish list it on Quest coming another October release, October 15th. And it can be wish listed. I have no price. October's picking up. I'm already sold. This is no, this is really good. October's looking good. And this one has every time I see the reaction to people in the chats when this is shown. Um, dude, people get excited. Like, whoa, whoa, whoa, what the hell is this? You know, and this opens the door for other things too. If the movement the movement works, but the developers put a lot of a lot of care into this.

SPEAKER_01

What do you think it's gonna go for? $14.99. I keep I keep thinking that. $14.99 seems like the sweet spot for a game like this.

SPEAKER_02

Especially like how many levels are you gonna get out of the gate? There are gonna be leaderboards, is it time things, is there gonna be DLC? There's so many questions one want to ask, but this might also be a sleeper. Totally. So let's see what comes out around the same time. Because I it's gonna be a hidden gem.

SPEAKER_01

He's putting his game on every showcase he can, which is good. That's how you should do it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you got it. You really got it.

SPEAKER_01

You got to get the word out there, super receptive and but if it's fun dev.

SPEAKER_02

If it delivers like I've been seeing over the years, I think it's gonna be fun for so many people. Totally agree. Checks a lot of boxes.

SPEAKER_01

I'm hyped for this one, to say the least.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Kevin Walker is, I think, the guy's name. Middleman Games. Middleman. So good stuff. Well, we've hit that point in the show. Let's give a quick shout out to our Patreon peeps on our on-air shout-out tier. People helping keep our lights on, helping keep the show running. Smooth without without disruption. Huge thank you, as always, to Carson, Espar Mike, Crispy, Tom, Chris, and Danae. Thank you all for your continued support week after week, month after month. Like I said, helping us keep the lights on. And you can join that list of esteemed supporters by visiting the link in our show notes, our episode description or video description if you're on YouTube, finding the Patreon link and clicking there. If you join the Patreon beyond an on-air shout-out, you also get a special role in our Discord server and access to an exclusive Patreon only channel. We've been sharing pictures of our garage remodel, our new studio building, which we're gonna work on a bit after after this episode's done recording. So as always, huge thank you to everyone that helps us keep the lights on. Don't forget to to join our Discord server, which is free. Patreon supporters, you know, that's that's a paid thing, but the Discord's free to join, free to come hang out and talk with. A great non-toxic community over there. So definitely check out the Discord, check out the Patreon, and don't forget you can use code word rough talk vr at checkout at the MetaQuest store and save 10% off any game, app, or headset hardware on the MediQuest store. So good stuff. Most of our news on this episode, I think, is going to be related to the upload VR showcase, just like after every showcase, whether it's ours, Jamie's uploads, uh showcase really dominates the news cycle. Bless the the fingers of the writers over at upload vr, including Mike, live open mic in our server. Just when they're done with one one showcase wrap-up doing the 100 articles for that, they got another, and I'm sure that they're good, man. It's job security. Yeah. There's nothing to write about crickets. That's a problem. You need that, you want that. In that transition phase where you know Henry left up load, he's doing something, something new now, and they hadn't yet hired on their new team. It was a little slow for a couple weeks. Like that's not like the dip. Yeah. And then they brought on Mike and James, and boom, that the article output has been great. And they they definitely need it with all these showcases going on. So another one that was shown on the upload VR showcase was lane split. It is a what they describe as an urban motorcycle street racing game. So you're gonna be racing your motorcycles in the streets, not on tracks or anything, you know, through buildings and and streets and roads, all that stuff. They announced that VR support is getting added on Steam on June 23rd. It's an existing flat game, but like I said, it's gonna have VR support coming this month. Okay. Just a couple weeks. That's cool. I think these type of hybrid games have a lot of potential. You know, you can play a flash screen or throw on your headset and play it in VR. It has a mostly positive rating on Steam with 330 reviews. And the game is normally $17.99, but it's 34% off for a very specific $11.87. So if you like motorcycle games, go go check out Lane Split. You can play it flat right now, and then in a couple weeks, you're gonna be able to play it in VR as well. Price is good. 11 bucks is very easy to justify from developer Funky Mouse. All right, good stuff. Price is damn good.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, I got developer Paul M. Christian, solo dev publisher musicality dot computer.

SPEAKER_01

I'd never heard of this one before.

SPEAKER_02

Uh it has a 4.9 nine nine ratings on the MetaQuest store. 4.9. I'm talking about Theremon as in the instrument. Theremin.

SPEAKER_01

Your favorite instrument.

SPEAKER_02

I'm I'm not really a fan of them. I played one. They're cool. Real Star Trek-y, if you're like from the 70s and shit. Um but you know, I'm I I you know, I don't need one. I'll say that. I'm not gonna ask Tracy for one. She'd oh dude, she'd kill me. Although I wonder if the cats could play it. But anyways, it's out.

SPEAKER_01

Use it while you blow your Aztec death whistle, you know. Yeah, no, I no, I don't want no. Okay, different conversation.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so great price for what you already have. It's it's already out, but hey, why not take the idea of playing the Thurman and make it better? And well, they're going to with the Ghost Hands add-on, which is coming July 1st. Uh you're gonna be able to basically loop your music. So if you want to create music and layer some tracks over yourself, you'll be able to use the ghost hands to to do so. I don't know how many layers you can go. I don't know if it's just gonna allow for a two-layer, three layer ten theremans going at once. I mean, dude, if you take a four-track, technically you can turn a four-track into like 24-track. Yeah, so you can you can just because something says like so. I'm just curious, like what the reality of no, you can only do two layers, three layers, but doesn't matter, it's gonna be fun, and then you're gonna see some real creativity because now you're gonna be able to loop and layer your theorem in ensemble. Although don't come to my house with a theorem in, I won't be very happy.

SPEAKER_01

Blow my ass deck, death whistle at you right in your ear. What was the game that you used to play in VR that would let you loop music and layer it? Was it Virtuoso? Was that it? I remember you had made a couple tracks.

SPEAKER_02

I made some good tracks. I forget. I might have you the drums and a whole bunch. Oh, they have the theorem in that too. Oh, I think they do. If it's it's the one we're thinking of. They had some weird instruments that were never played before. I feel like it's virtuoso, not a hundred percent though.

SPEAKER_01

I haven't touched those in a long time. That was an early like I we didn't have the quest two for that long when you got into those ones.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was laying down uh the drum track. Then I was playing this weird instrument, and that was one I because it'll allow you to uh I think it'd allow you to sync it too, so you can like sync it to certain beat tempos. Go give me a four beat, eight beat, sixteen. Oh, it was so good. Not bad, yeah. And it would let you save it too. I remember you sent me one, dude. The DJ, the early DJ game back in the day. That was my first reality, too. Oh, if you want to play music, you're gonna have to upload it to your headset, and to do that, you're gonna have to like sideload it and shit. And I was all scared.

SPEAKER_01

You didn't want to put your things in developer mode back then.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like I'm scared.

SPEAKER_01

That's funny, dude.

SPEAKER_02

It was like first time you put on that quest too. It's like so fragile. You're like you're like protecting it like gold. Dude, I grabbed my my headset now with my pinky. I grab it under the strap, take it off the shelf, give it a little spin, pop. I would have I would have freaked the hell out if someone did that first day with a headset. Like, yo, chill out. I paid 300 bucks for this thing. You know, I'd be like ready to go to war about it. It's funny how like when you realize the technology is not as gentle as you think it is, you can be a little more still crazy that you can get a full standalone VR for $300. Crazy. Dude, for travel set, I mean, even if you were just like, I just want peace of mind when I'm watching a movie, I don't have the sides are covered. I fucking hey, dude. I have fallen asleep with my head set up. Yeah. Admittingly, lean back in the couch like this, just watching some dumb shit, and then fucking like wake up. Remind me of the Red Dead Redemption days when I'd fall asleep riding my horse, and I'd always wake up right before the edge of the cliff. Always I'd wake up and like freak out in real life because for a second I think I'm falling off a cliff. Tracy would laugh every time. You can ride your horse and go to bed. That was the thing. Like, I can't make it five minutes on a horse. You know what it is. If you're just walking on the horse, dun dun dun after a long day of work, too. Oh yeah, I'm out. Call that a rap. But, anyways, Thereman. Yeah, yeah. I said to say Thereman, come full circle. So you can loop all that.

SPEAKER_01

Well, good stuff. I'm definitely have to check that out. Like I said, see how much we can actually layer. Yeah, that's that's my biggest question. So, an upcoming downhill skateboarding game called Bomb the Hill. It's called Totally Rad. No, it's called Bomb the Hill. It's coming, it was previously previously announced that it's coming to MetaQuest, and at the upload VR showcase, they announced that it is also coming to Steam VR this summer. Alongside the MetaQuest version, like they'll they'll co-launch together. It's gonna be 1999. No exact release date yet, but it's coming this summer. Uh cool stuff. They got some funding back in the day in 2024 from the Oculus Publishing Ignition program. So the meta team must have seen something special in it that made it worth investing in a bit. And it it pays homage to the 1970s free ride culture. So I'm excited to see it. Downhill skateboarding in VR. Let's see how it goes.

SPEAKER_02

That was my time, bro. That's when you found a hill and you took your fucking not made for it skateboard, clearly not made for downhill, and you went down a hill that you should never be on with no pads, no helmet, because that didn't even exist. And then you got halfway down the hill, and your skateboard would do a death wobble where it would start doing this shit, and then it would you just go until you either made it down or you get thrown off.

SPEAKER_01

No, at least these guys that the maybe the only non-true to life thing is that these guys are wearing helmets in full gear. I call bullshit on that. Was it 1970s if you're wearing a helmet, bro? Posers. The the GIF, the GIF shows cops chasing them on the store page. The the store page GIF, yeah, it has like a cop and a cop harness iron on. So maybe you're not supposed to be downhilling where you're downhilling in this game, but I don't know. In the 70s. It looks fun. I'm excited to try it. 1999 is not a bad price, and now it's coming to MetaQuest and Steam this summer. So good stuff there.

SPEAKER_02

Do you know what skate parks were in the 70s? Like no no bullshit? What? Like this is the what we would do in in probably the late 70s, 78. You'd wait for the city to drain a city pool and the drained out pool was your skate park. And you skateboarded inside the pool because they had the huge, steep declines on both sides. Any anybody who skateboarded in the 70s probably remembers jumping into a swimming pool. Only if it was like city, because it homeowners don't have that kind of shit. They have the flats. So I'll throw another one. Guess where it came from? One guess. You're right. I read your brain. The upload VR showcase. I'm kind of digging this one. This is a color by numbers color cube. That's what voxel, voxel coloring. Is that what that's what does voxel actually mean? Voxel is like that Minecraft block. Yeah. Block style. That's exactly what I thought. But coming June 18th to uh I think Pico and the MetaQuest.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_02

A Pico release. Throw a Pico in there. I don't have a price. Amazingly, it's got 131 reviews with a 4.7.

SPEAKER_01

So it's free to play.

SPEAKER_02

It looks came out December 5th, 2024.

SPEAKER_01

How do they make money? Probably selling you packs and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_02

I don't understand how they're making money on this.

SPEAKER_01

They gotta do in in-app purchases like maybe some other puzzles.

SPEAKER_02

They did they did uh VR Mac game big shots. It's yeah, free to download app. Just come in color. Okay. It's an early access. So the full 1.0 release, which kudos to that, is gonna give you over a hundred different voxel models, which I'm gonna assume when they're saying voxel models is the actual puzzles or or that's what I'm guessing. Um story-driven coloring experiences. My eyebrow raises. I'm curious how that'll be intrigued. And ready? How are they making fucking money, dude? Weekly free model drops with monthly DLC releases. So they're banking on that DLC. But there sounds like you're I'd be giving a little too much for free. You're getting an offer, you're getting a farm, the barn, the cow, the bucket.

SPEAKER_01

You're just missing the stool, and what was they charge you for the chickens, but they give you the cow for free.

SPEAKER_02

You want to try it? Oh, hell yeah. I want to see if like it's available now in early access. Not my you know it's not my favorite style. But I feel like for puzzle. I'm thinking for coloring, like that kind of makes sense. Lego-ish vibes. Yeah. And you're coloring by number in 3D space. Yeah, let's you know, let's try it. Yeah, that's right. I'll try this one. Okay. Well, kudos on the full release.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, upcoming next week.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

So good stuff. Quest and Pico. Well, speaking of full releases, a few months back, one of our favorite survival games, notoriously hard, on PC VR called Bootstrap Island. They had their 1.0 launch, like I said, a couple months ago. And they have now added, continuing with content drops, their version 1.1 update. It adds a cumulative progression system, an early game inventory solution. Oh, I don't like this one. Dangerous new nocturnal predators, be haptic supports.

SPEAKER_02

They already have improvements. No, I know, bro. You can't make it off that beach the first night without fire. Dangerous new nocturnal. What do you think it is? It's already dangerous. I know. I don't want to know what it is. Jaguars killing you, you know? Oh, dude. I don't want to hear that shit. No, don't even Blask Inferno. He's I know he'll probably go in there. Maybe he can lure it out. Take a screenshot of it.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want to I don't want to meet it. Well, makes it a little easier because now new tools and unlocked items are tied to your your your account. Uh, you know, your cumulative survival time. So you start a new playthrough, it sounds like you'll start with some of this the tools and such that you've unlocked previously. So make it a little easier on future playthroughs as well.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Dude, that's a it's we got jaded by playing the the build we played in Germany. So if if with this, if you survive a good amount of time, but then you end up dying, but you unlock stuff, it wasn't a wasted run. Like now you have some stuff that carries over to your next one. So good stuff. Developer Maru VR, they're continuing to crush it. They say that this update is going to be a little bit friendlier for new players. Some some easier on-ramping. So let's see. Well, I I love this game. Love to see that they're still doing updates. I was worried that 1.0 was gonna be it for content drops, but no, they're continuing with it. Best question ever, I asked them.

SPEAKER_02

You think this will ever come out on Quest 2? They laughed at you, dude. It was the most, it was the most, didn't even need to think of it.

SPEAKER_01

I don't even think they could get that coconut physics working.

SPEAKER_02

They're like, we can't even they're like, no, this will never run on a quest headset. Like, holy shit, really? And I play the game and I'm like, holy crap. Look at it. The lighting is starting, yeah. Yeah, it's like too much going on. I'm like, okay, you win. Holy moly. So, not my favorite jam, and that would be being scared to death in VR. I don't mind other people doing it. Shit, I like Like watching other people's videos of them being scared to death, and if that's their thing, but we're gonna add to that. This time we're gonna go big because this is coming to PlayStation VR2, Quest, and Steam VR. We're talking about Kaba. Kaba is a shortened name for Center of Anomalies of Buenos Aires. So this is going to be a first person horror experience. Horror. And you can't fight back. You can only you can only try to figure out how to get the hell out of there. That's the gist of my understanding of this. Fuck that. Um I don't know what it is about humans that want to put themselves into the most scariest possible scenarios. Um, but a walking try to escape simulator of things trying to kill me, I am not that guy.

SPEAKER_01

It's great for the horror game fans, as that's just not me.

SPEAKER_02

It looks scary as shit. I believe I I mean, I'll try it. I'm not gonna lie, I I can't buy it. I can't because I know I'm I might only get a couple of minutes out of it. I've played these games before on flat screen. I own them where I have a fucking camera and I can't handle it. It doesn't feel right if something's coming at you and you can't grab it. You know how helpless you are when you can't even you can't even swing the camera. You just gotta sit there and take it. Holy shit, it's the worst feeling ever, dude. And to do that in VR, where you what do you only think you can do is close your eyes, start crying. Fucking game where I just stayed in a corner scared to death, heart racing and stuff. No, I give them props for being able to do that. Because I can go through any horror, every any whorehouse. I can watch any movie. I'm not gonna get different in VR. Fuck, dude. You have no way out. I look to the right, it's there, to left, it's there. Let's be honest. Smarter developers get, they know that like motherfucker's gonna turn around. I just gotta put something behind him. Sooner or later, he's gonna look right or left. I can put something there too. There's you could jump scare every two seconds in VR if you really wanted to. Unless you're gonna like, especially when I set you up with that game, like just do the intro to Flock of the Logot. Fuck. Flock of the Logot, just do the intro.

SPEAKER_01

Never play a horror game after that.

SPEAKER_02

The minute the minute it's not really a spoiler now, but right, the minute you turn around, feel like, well, it wasn't fuck.

SPEAKER_01

So kaba. Horror in VR just hits absolutely different. Yep. It's fucked up.

SPEAKER_02

Uh no, but like I said, it you know, the trailer is shown, it is available to be seen, was shown on uh the showcase, but there's no exact release date.

SPEAKER_01

Well, at least they have their store page up for wish listing. So if you like to shit your pants, definitely go wish list that. It looks good.

SPEAKER_02

They did it good, it was a good trailer. There was a handful of the trailers. I was like, damn, that would that's just I respect that.

SPEAKER_01

Well, another game that was also on our showcase, hyperlane highway. It's a VR roguelite shooter. You're gonna be tilting side to side, uh, using your your head leaning as the the steering as you move across what looks like a hoverboard made by developer Riley Riality Studio. They announced that the game is going to come to MetaQuest as well as PC VR. It was originally just Steam VR, but now it's it's been announced that they are targeting the MetaQuest platform as well with a Q4 2026 launch. So good stuff. It's a solo developer. Like I said, you lean your you lean your body to steer your your hoverboard as you shoot shit in this roguelike game. So for a solo dev project, looks like a lot of fun. I'm definitely excited to check this out. I love the trailer when it was on our showcase. I love the trailer that he put together for upload VR.

unknown

And yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's got a little bit of the same artwork style as Penal Rebel. If you told me they were friends, dude, yeah, I believe it. Those are two games you can't put back to back to each other in a showcase. You gotta space them out a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

We viewed it that way just for shits and giggles. We're like, no, this doesn't work. Like, dude, you legit would think it's the same game. Like, you gotta space that shit out so far. Yeah, yeah, but I'm excited. That's no disrespect either, because they're not the same game.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's just the art style is so similar.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and once Tron, man.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'll go back to the like they both have that Tron lower.

SPEAKER_02

OG of Tron will always be that OG of Tron.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm excited for this, and yeah, launching sometime this year, Q4 2026, on now, MetaQuest and Steam.

SPEAKER_02

So this next one comes from Soliton Interactive Inc., both developed and published. This can be wish listed now. And would you believe this was one of the highlights of the whole showcase for me?

SPEAKER_01

Um, when I saw this on the list of articles, I was like, I that you're taking this one.

SPEAKER_02

This is called Brush Hammer. Brush Hammer Miniature Painter. So anyone who's ever painted little figurines, I've done it in in other games before. Uh, this is gonna be a mixed reality. It's gonna let you collect pieces, of course, paint them. There'll be some display feature you'll be able to do. You'll be able to accessorize them, I believe. Uh, you'll have airbrushes, stickers, they'll have decals, shiny coatings you can put on them. This is like uh someone like my age's dream to relive some of their childhood of getting a full box set of pewter figures and some paints and being able to paint away. It also looks like you'll be able to increase the scale so it's you're not doing little micro painting. Stretch it out. Um they're gonna have like you you'll be able to which I mean they say you can take a picture and send it to your friend because you can do that anyways in any game, but of course they're saying it'll be built into the game, so you won't have to do it the old school way. Uh there's a career mode where you can start as a newbie painter and work yourself up to a that legendary painter. Wasn't expecting that. Dude, I'm telling you, this whole thing is a they have a hobby shop to be able to get new shit. That's fucking cool. I want this so badly, and I walked away from that showcase going, man, a painting game is what's taking most attention from my brain from the showcase. It's crazy. But, anyways, you can wish list it. I don't have an exact release date.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know it's getting on my wish list.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, August. In the month of August. Okay. So that's not that's that's fair enough. Drop it on the 12th or 23rd if you really want to make your your homeboys happy. That'd be I'd I'd love for one game to drop on a birthday. I just feel like I gotta play that.

SPEAKER_01

What day of the week is your birthday this year?

SPEAKER_02

Uh an inconvenient day. Yeah, there's no games coming out on Sunday. Well, what about yours? You didn't even check yours. You passed by mine.

SPEAKER_01

I know.

SPEAKER_02

I was on Oh, yours is a Wednesday, bro.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but no, it's usually Thursdays, it's usually Thursdays.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, I'm not getting my hopes up. Uh yeah, but we've seen some obscure drops the past couple weeks. Well, if you want to drop this on the 12th, I'll play it on my birthday, that's for sure. That's no joke. But honestly, doesn't am I crazy that this looks like the career mode sells me? So downsides, I mean it is sandbox, right? It's just open shit, paint away. Um, love the fact there's a career mode, but can we keep it coming? Well, this is when you sell con you sell new I do Legos. I'm going through the Legos. So on the the good news, as as of right now today, which is Sunday afternoon, if you click on the you know wish listed page for meta, they're they're saying they're looking for beta testers. We happen to be accepting beta test roles at Rough Talk VR. So we'll cut out the middleman. You can join our Discord, we'd appreciate it. And uh we'll we'll see you in we'll see Soliton Interactive in our Discord shortly. Yeah. Sleeper title for sure. I'm definitely sorry for that one. If this doesn't come out of the gate and crush it, what could make it not do good? Future content and price. But I feel like I feel like they're gonna they're gonna nail it on both.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm I'm hyped for that one.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Absolute sleeper. This next one's a quick one. Uh salmon man. It is a upload VR describes it as a rage-baiting physics-based platformer. It's all about successfully platforming across the maps, but it looks like it's easy to die, easy to fail, easy to get frustrated. Salmon Man. The most weirdest possible name possible. Like Bucket Man. I know, salmon man. Salmon man. Your guy doesn't even look like a salmon, to be honest with you. I want to know why it's called Salmon Man. But anyway, Solomon. Solomon. His name's Solomon. We call him Solomon. Uh, so they announced that it's getting a multiplayer update in July that will let you bring your friends in and platform together. I don't know if you race each other. If you try to sabotage each other or what? Oh, yeah, it looks like you're gonna be competing against each other. Oh my goodness. So yeah, Salmon Man. $6.99 on the MetaQuest store. Perfect. We got a 4.6 rating. It looks you know, you you ever see those games that it's like the climbing ones where you have like the the hammer and you try to like pull yourself up. It looks like that, but instead of going vertical, it's looks exactly like the app game.

SPEAKER_02

Except, like you said, not it's not the app game for sure, but uh the dude does.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, what a interesting game, and what an even more interesting name. So yeah, it's getting multiplayer next month. So stay tuned for that.

SPEAKER_02

Alright. Well, we got yet another game that yeah, I'll I'll play, but man, I already know. I saw the trailer, it's it's freaking brutile. We're talking sci-fi horror, Rustmorn is the game that I'm referring to. This is gonna be for PC only, or or PC VR, I should say. There's been people using half-like half-life Alex comparisons and such, which I don't believe even uploads article, was uh leans more dead space than Half-Life, but graphically looks pretty incredible. Uh geez Louise. I don't know what to say positive, it just looks scary as shit. It's got all the things I don't want. I'll take right from their Steam page uh survival sci-fi sci-fi horror with detailed VR designed interactions, which is why they're probably leaning the half-life white, traverse the corridors of an ancient derelict structure, no thank you, and face the tortured beings in it. Hide, run, or cut off their limbs to survive. Don't know. I mean, the graphics look they do, they look really dangin'. This was their closer, too, I believe, of the showcase. Looks great. Um, it's not for me, but it looks great. There's no mention on shit. Is this coming to other headsets? I don't know. Right now, it looks like just Steam, right? I dude, it looks like a power beast. I'm I'm really curious. Like, because I'm I'm I'm looking at video graphics and I know how VR translates. So if video graphics look damn good, that game probably really does look amazing. Um, I don't know what to say though. It's just we got we're getting a lot of horror games. It's a genre that works great for VR, it's just not for me. But it's a but it is legit a genre, so it's not an everybody wins, it's not a walkabout situation, right? Like walkabout pull all people together. Crazies, normals, you'd have to like horror.

SPEAKER_01

Like me, I can't do it.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe multiplayer, but not. I think I could do this one more than the other one, though.

SPEAKER_01

Because this one's more about shooting shit. I can I can fight. Yeah, I agree. That type of horror is easier. Look like a wuss crying, sitting in a corner with my camera. Yeah, wishing I never played it.

SPEAKER_02

So, I mean, unfortunately, though, we're talking, I don't see the likelihood of this being announced for Quest. No, it it looks way too looks like they'd have to cut it back so much it would distort. Wouldn't even be scary anymore. But I am intrigued by the fact they're hyping up with there should be a lot of interactable stuff, which is what we look for in VR. We want to touch everything, throw everything.

SPEAKER_01

So good stuff. Yep. Another quickie from me. Call me quickie Damien today. We got uh Hit Hitman, World of Assassination. They do these limited time assassination missions where you take Agent 47 and you kill in these limited time ones, it's usually collabs. Uh, like they've done some some past ones with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Eminem, and such. So this limited time assassination target is Wiz Khalifa. He is being cast in this game as an MMA fighter. He plays Taylor Graves, he's gonna be a former box trimboy tie fighter, and you have to fucking ice him as Agent 47. Some cool stuff. You gotta go kill Wiz Khalifa. You gotta go kill Wiz Khalifa. You've killed MM before, you know.

SPEAKER_02

It's why are they always rappers?

SPEAKER_01

Uh, they also did one with Conor McGregor before, they did one with Jean-Claude Van Damme, so they they mix it up a bit. Dude, we still need to grab World of Assassination on PSVR2. Yeah, people say it's one of the best.

SPEAKER_02

No, I I I won't argue that it I'm just like because it's so good. Because of like the PTSD of the quest version with the hitman title, it had me leery, but people say it's like a 10 out of 10. Yeah, you can't argue in I'm gonna lie, if something's if if people say something's good on uh PSVR2, it's good. There's no denying it.

SPEAKER_01

Like apparently the the PC VR version's not in as stable of a spot either. The only thing that's confusing about World of Assassination is the VR version isn't part of the base game, you have to buy an add-on for it. And like there's a lot of different versions of the game for sale. Somebody even made a flow chart of like which is the correct one to buy. If somebody needs to make a flow chart of which you know how to buy the correct version of the game, there's probably something wrong there. But yeah, I'd I need to just dive into this. I I love Hitman. I I remember playing Hitman at on your Xbox way back in the day. I own so many. They're such a good series, such a good series. Not one that I finished a lot of. You know, it's funny, I don't think I finished many of them either.

SPEAKER_02

Uh first one for sure, I believe, but after that, I don't I don't know any end credits for them. I'm trying to think I did. Yeah, I think the problem with Hitman was is it always came out around something else coming out. So by the time I was yeah, I was having fun, I'm invested, something would come out or pull me away. And it would be one of those, well, I'll go back to school later. You know, it's like, yeah, no, you're not.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Agent 47 is coming after you, Wiz Khalifa. So stay tuned. I'm excited for that one, though. I we'll we'll we'll grab this one soon.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, definitely, dude. Um, I don't necessarily need to go run around and kill Wiz Khalifa, but I want to play the damn game. So Obsessive Shadow. Yeah, all the horror ones today. I you know what's weird. I didn't seek out to do that. I swear to god, I'm like the totality of the horror on my plate. Starting to click. It's a little much. This one I like. I let me rephrase it. I played this one. So some of the other ones I haven't played. I can't really say I dislike them or I like them. I just know that they're gonna be tough on me. This one's no walk in the park. I'm talking about the obsessive shadow, weird, shadowy dude in a house, upstairs, downstairs. It just it got me, man. Um, they're coming out with chapter two because chapter one wasn't scary enough. Hmm, you're not scared no more. We'll give you chapter two. This is coming for PC VR, PlayStation VR2, and MetaQuest. Uh, the first one took place indoors inside a house. They also just did a recent mixed reality update. So now why not take place inside your house? And now they're moving like 20 years later or into the future, I'll say. So we're out of the 80s, and we're gonna be playing outdoors. Uh, let me do a little plagiarism here. So, okay, 2006, 20 years after the first game. Whew, you're gonna take on the role of a 16-year-old named Justin, who, like all 16-year-olds, made a bet he probably shouldn't have with his friend and has to spend the night in the creepy community for one night, which is on old Diamond Drive. In true scare me to death, you're only gonna have a camcorder and a flashlight. So, yeah, upload says feels like a setup for either upload set it or wherever they got it for 90s, early 2000 horror film. A hundred percent. Dude, the first one crushed the vibes. Um I'll try this, just not, you know, me just it's coming out sometime this year. So they're looking to continue this. If there's a chapter two, then I suppose there could be a chapter three. But I like that there's actually lore to it, and you're giving you a little story. You got Justin, you got a purpose. The good news, this one will not be mixed reality.

SPEAKER_01

You're not gonna be running into your street.

SPEAKER_02

Could you imagine?

SPEAKER_01

Their friends are gonna feel real bad when Justin's dead, and they're the one that made him do the do this, you know. All because he lost a bet for Justin.

SPEAKER_02

It sounds like the age 16, I don't think you would. 12? Oh, dude, you'd make dumb bets. Bet you can't do that. I bet you I can. Bet you can't. Like, double fucking dare you then. I'll do it. Parents, if your friends all jumped off a bridge with you, every kid in the world. Yes? Well, why wouldn't I? They're my friends. Anyways.

SPEAKER_01

So good stuff there. Yeah, continuing to scare the shit out of us. Obsessive shadow with number two, chapter two. Because chapter one wasn't scary enough, right? No. Uh so this next one, it is a low poly truck driving simulator called polytruck. Not they're not even hiding behind it. No, it's low poly, poly truck. It's physics driven. Uh it's a truck simulator. There's gonna be an interactive cockpit uh where you can turn the keys, shift the gears, all of that. They showed off a new gameplay trailer at the upload VR showcase, and it will be coming to MetaQuest headsets, MetaQuest 3 headsets, uh, in Q4 2026. So it's based off of higher fidelity truck simulator games like American Truck Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator, but this one is going to be low poly.

SPEAKER_02

I wish one of those big name ones would come over for sure, man. It's not even funny. But some of the ones that are even on like PC VR, uh or not PC VR, just on PC, they do not get good ratings. It's I I know Inferno Place one, it's it's probably one of the most legit ones outside of that. So I'm curious how a low poly one trying to do the performance of the it's just how it's gonna come over. Let's see. We'll see.

SPEAKER_01

The Wish app uh truck simulator games. Oh don't say that. So you had one other, but I'll just I see you shut your laptop, so I'll just take it quick.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, the compartment of souls, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Dark trip, they have a they were on our showcase. I've been memorized.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I memorize it. All right, so they they dropped a the Dark Trip psychedelic horror with some bondage about questionable, questionable bondage in the trailer. I mean, take it for what it's worth, right?

SPEAKER_01

But during the upload the only game I played naked. Why do my pants always come off when I played this game?

SPEAKER_02

During the upload VR update, they announced and it is live, their 15th room has been dropped. So the long-awaited for I'm so behind eight ball in this game.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I remember when you first saw the trailer for our showcase, you're like, where the fuck did this come from?

SPEAKER_02

I thought it was a Steam thing. I was like, Oh, that's cute, dude. And then I was like, should we be should we be showing this? I don't know how family friendly this game is. Um okay, and I'm like, well, it's on Quest, so fuck it. You know, we'll take it. But I on on paper or thumbnail, I probably never would have organically. Clicked on it.

SPEAKER_01

No, I agree.

SPEAKER_02

But that's a big update for them. I guess people have been waiting this and wanting it. Now it makes me. You gotta go in and play it somewhere. Yeah, now it makes me want to film more to play it. Like they're doing big major updates, and I'm I'm like so far behind the eight ball on it. The only thing I don't was it called the compartment update? Uh compartment of souls. Compartment of souls. Why not just be a compartment when you can be a compartment of souls? Right. Yeah, dude, it's gotta be good.

SPEAKER_01

And then last one from the upload VR showcase that we'll we'll hit on quick.

SPEAKER_02

This was not their closer.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, this is just the last on our list. And I'll go quick on it because it's not my type of type of jam. It's a game that uses that arm-based locomotion. Like in Gorilla Tag. Grilla Taggy. Yes, the Gorilla Tag movement is going to be an upcoming free-to-play social playground game called Jetpack Clankers. Comes to early access this week, tomorrow, June si June 16th.

SPEAKER_02

Jesus, we're already in the June 16th. Yeah. Are you kidding me? Dude, wild. Well, I mean, it's somebody it'll be for somebody, right?

SPEAKER_01

It actually I don't think it does the acrylic R movement. I think you use jetpack hands instead.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, that's about it. Iron Man movement?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's how it sounds. I don't mind that. No. I got pretty good at that.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, how good was Iron Man?

SPEAKER_01

What upload VR says is in clankers, players are transformed into robots with jets for hands and wheels for legs, racing around huge arenas at breakneck speeds. Uh there's also going to be things like arcade games, toys, a special game called Clank Ball. Awfully similar to Clank Ball. I'm not saying nothing. And creating musical beats with friends. So good stuff. My mistake for saying grilla tag movement, because it's actually the opposite. They don't have grilla tag movement. You have jetpack hands. Oops. I like jetpack hands. So you know what? I'm a little bit more sold on this than I was a minute ago. But you know, social playground, free-to-play games aren't really my jam. But at least they're at least they're doing something a bit on their bit unique as well, too. So they also say that Steam Frame and PC VR support is coming soon, because there's nothing that the PC VR crowd loves more than a free-to-play social playground. That is exactly what they want. But nonetheless, jetpack, jetpack clankers coming tomorrow on MetaQuest in early access. So cool stuff there. This was a loaded one, folks. Probably could have talked grim for the whole hour, but I we had to put the kibosh there because we had a lot to go through. Wish us luck on our base leading into wipe. And I think next week we're gonna do even better post-wipe on just like I think we can get to where we're at with our base in pretty much a session.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god. At the speed that we're doing it now, yeah, especially if we break up. Like someone go hit the road, someone hit the stone and wood. Correct.

SPEAKER_01

One of us start building the base. I'll go get some metal fragments right away. Yep. Bada bing, bada boom. Thirty minutes later, we got us a fat stone base. I feel it's leveling up. I still want to get the shotgun trapped for the door, though. That way, motherfucker wants to open up our door. We're shooting them with the shotgun. And so, dude, when you ever open up that door, and I just heard the instant blam. I was like terrifying. It was legit terrifying. He did it so good too. Yeah, oh no, it was super well played. He did it for the love of the game, too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right? You know. Oh, he also said that when he broke in, he got super frustrated at all of our doors. Which I was like, ching. Yep, more doors. Yeah. The fact he couldn't he didn't get to he could have taken a race though, because he got to the tool cabinet. But we didn't shut every door either. No.

SPEAKER_02

So lesson learned all around.

SPEAKER_01

Shame on us for leaving without shutting doors. Yeah. It all worked out. Being a social engineer myself out of every bad situation I find myself in.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. The game almost turned into dark trip real fast with me stuck in that room, though. That's all I'm going to say. Alright, well, thank you all for the GIMP. Yeah. Things are about to get real weird in there if I didn't talk my way out of it and he didn't have a heart. So as always, huge thank you for tuning in, for listening. Check out the Patreon, the Discord, code word rough talk VR at checkout. We're gonna go do some mud. Put some mud on the walls. That's what we're up to now. So hope everyone has a great rest of your day. If you're in one of the areas that has a heat wave like us, stay cool. And we will check you out next week. Ciao ciao.
