Conveyancing fees are broken down into two parts, there are the legal fees and the disbursements. The legal fees are the costs that the lawyer will charge and the disbursements are fixed fees from third parties that may be involved within the transaction.

There are a number of things to consider when looking for an estimate of conveyancing costs. Firstly, buying and selling of houses is an expensive venture and most clients will look for the cheapest estimate they can find. This is not always a good idea and its essential that you are clear of your conveyancing costs from the onset.

Some lawyers may only quote the legal costs and although the fee may seem cheaper, the disbursements may not have been outlined from the start. This can result in hidden fees which only become aware on completion.
