Welcome on this beautiful Saturday, a day we set aside to honor the Blessed Mother. You know, Mary didn't always know where the road ahead would lead, but she knew how to listen for the one leading her. She made room for the Holy Spirit, and that's where wisdom begins. Today, Justin reminds us that this same gift of wisdom is offered to each of us. We only need to quiet the noise and make room for the Spirit to lead. Let us pray. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

The word of the Lord. Outside of DePaul's business school, and interestingly enough, next to my company's office now is a sculpture or mural on the side of the building. On it shows the image of Saint Vincent and a phrase that reads, I will show you the way to wisdom. Of course, this echoes very closely to our reading from Proverbs today. It may even be the same verse with a slightly differ different translation. I'm not quite sure. Nonetheless, as I continue to learn in my life and go through different phases, these words have meant a lot of different things to me. As a senior in high school, getting ready to attend college, I read the words and up it applied to the opportunities ahead of me to learn in the city of Chicago. As a student at DePa, the words were a reminder to seek wisdom from the courses I was embarking on and from Christ as I continue to grow deeper in my faith. Now when I walk by the sculpture, I'm reminded to try to be a wise and calming presence to those I work with, not letting the cacophony of outside noise or someone's email ruin a perfectly good day, put me in a bad mood, or take the team off track. Wisdom throughout life can be found in so many different ways and places. Just as today's reading has meant different things to me over the course of time. Still though, there's one constant in the search for wisdom. And that constant is something we've already received, and it's a gift of the Holy Spirit. Wisdom is one of the gifts we receive from the Holy Spirit at our confirmation, and is a gift we continue to receive from the Spirit every day. All we have to do is be open enough to accept it and accept the wisdom the Spirit offers to each one of us. While the gift of wisdom may seem far at times, even if I feel like I'm drowning in my own foolishness, I must remind myself, and I would encourage you all to remind yourselves to refocus our attention. Not on the thoughts of our own mind, but on the love and wisdom and working of the Spirit in our daily lives, giving him space enough to move and work and give the wisdom he so freely offers.

Let us pray. Mary, seat of wisdom. When the noise around us grows loud, teach us to listen as you did. When the path ahead is unclear, help us make room for the Spirit and trust where He leads. Walk with us, Mother Mary, and lead us always closer to your Son. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
