PRAYER OF LETTING GO
To You do I belong, O God,
into Your hands I surrender my life.
Pour out Your Spirit upon me
that I may love You perfectly,
and serve You faithfully
until my soul rests in You.
Heads or tails. It's the little game we've all played flipping a coin to decide something. But in the spiritual life, it's heads and tails at the same time. And it's a message we'll hear in our scripture today. Welcome to prayer. I'm Father Ron. This is the God Minute. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_04Hail Mary, full of grace, blessed are you among women.
SPEAKER_03A canticle to Mary, Star of the Sea. O Mary, star of the sea, I call to you from restless water. The waves rise higher than my courage, and I cannot see the shore. Fear is a fog that swallows my bearings. Be the light I steer toward.
SPEAKER_01You know what it is to travel uncertain roads, to Bethlehem with no room waiting, into Egypt with danger at your back. You did not know the ending either, yet you walked on, trusting in your God. Walk with me now, Mother, through my own dark road.
SPEAKER_03At Cana you noticed what was missing before anyone else dared to say it. They have no wine, you told your son, and trusted him with the empty jars. I bring you what has run dry in me. Notice it, mother, and ask for me.
SPEAKER_01Do whatever he tells you, you said, plain words that hold an ocean of trust. Teach my clenched hands to open, my rac to rest in that same trust. When anxious thoughts multiply like waves, be the stillness I anchor to.
SPEAKER_03I do not need to know the whole crossing, only the next small step through the water. You did not see all of Calvary on the day the angel came to you, yet you said yes to what you could not see. Mother, help me do the same.
SPEAKER_01O star of the sea, shine steady tonight. Guide this small boat safely home. When the waters rise around me, let me hear you say, Do not be afraid. Pray for me, Mother, in every storm, until I reach the harbor of your Son.
SPEAKER_03Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
SPEAKER_00As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_02And will do greater ones than these because I am going to the Father. The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. For my wife and I, our children and grandchildren are our greatest accomplishment. Maybe that's the greater one of these part of this statement. My wife and I help make something greater than ourselves. And the good work pass down to the next generation. The challenge from Jesus in this teaching is to do his work while we're hopefully on the way to the Father ourselves. Now I'm not a great apologist, so I won't go into the whole faith versus good words debate. But I want to mention some relatives of mine. I have siblings and nephews and nieces and in-laws who worship in the evangelical circle. And we for the most part have peaceful dialogue surrounding faith. And I know they are too. Because we all believe in him and want his will for all of humanity. My personal belief is that my faith leads me to do the good work. Just imagine the number of good things to come if all Christians find a common goal, to be Christ to those in need. This message calls all Christians to have different points of view and trust that God can work through ordinary people to do beautiful things for fellow human beings. Our faith leads to actions, words of comfort and acts of kindness, which are part of carrying on Jesus' ministry on earth. When we do those things together with all who love Jesus, his work to become even greater.
SPEAKER_04It is why we now turn to her in prayer and pray. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Let us pray. Lord God, you have given us the gift of faith, but you call us to do more than simply believe. You ask us to live what we profess. May the way we live each day become the clearest testimony of what we believe. Let our faith have hands that serve and feet that go where we are needed. We ask through Christ our Lord. To you do I belong, O God. Into your hands I surrender my life. Pour out your Spirit upon me, that I may love you perfectly and serve you faithfully until my soul rests in you. What a nice way to begin the weekend with all of you in prayer. Truly, thank you for joining us. And may Almighty God send you forth now in blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Go in peace, Mother Mary, protect us, and we'll see you all tomorrow for breaking open the word. Have a great day. God bless you.
