[00:00:00] INTRO — HUSTLE CULTURE & ENERGY DRAIN
HOST (Kara Lovehart):
Welcome back everyone to the Mind Body Detox Podcast. I’m your host, Mind-Body Psychic Medium & Executive Intuitive Coach, Kara Lovehart. Today we’re welcoming Theresa Lear Levine to talk about Detoxing Hustle Culture. This is going to land deeply for many of you.
We’re breaking down how hustle culture drains energy, blocks abundance, and keeps you stuck in burnout cycles. Theresa is an EFT Master Practitioner, hypnotherapist, and founder of Becoming More Me. She’s also the author of Becoming More Me: Tapping Into Success.
She knows firsthand what it’s like to be successful on the outside but overwhelmed on the inside. After navigating high-functioning anxiety, ADHD, and the pressure to “do more,” she learned how to rewire the subconscious mind and regulate her nervous system for true fulfillment.
Today we’re talking about why hustle culture is addictive, how it impacts your energy field and nervous system, and how EFT helps break the cycle.
Hi Theresa — welcome to the show!
[00:02:00] THERESA’S STORY & HOW EFT TRANSFORMED HER LIFE
GUEST (Theresa):
Thanks for having me, Kara. I’m excited for this conversation.
I got into EFT and hypnotherapy by being my own first client. I was chronically overwhelmed — a mom of four, running a fitness and nutrition business, and constantly overstimulated. I absorbed information like a sponge, but I still couldn’t break through that wall into inner peace or confidence.
When I started regulating my nervous system and working with my subconscious, everything shifted. I began feeling safe in my body, connected to intuition, and able to release the pressure to perform or prove anything. EFT helped me soften out of my masculine hustle and move into feminine receiving and flow.
[00:04:00] MASCULINE DRIVE VS. FEMININE FLOW
HOST:
I relate so much. I built much of my business intuitively in the beginning — very feminine, very flow. But as it grew, pressure appeared. Pressure to perform, pressure to fit expectations, pressure to “do it the right way.”
That’s when burnout started.
GUEST:
I think many women shift from natural feminine openness into masculine drive, especially in adolescence and career-building years. We start making things happen instead of allowing things to unfold.
[00:06:00] WHEN SUCCESS CREATES CONTRACTION
HOST:
For me, visibility created contraction. I had clients putting me on pedestals, people giving their power away, and others projecting fear or judgment. It made me retreat.
GUEST:
It’s interesting — the same thing that triggers contraction can also lead to expansion.
HOST:
Absolutely. That contrast helped me get clear on who I truly want to collaborate with and who’s still trapped in hustle energy.
[00:09:00] WHY SLOWING DOWN FEELS “DANGEROUS”
HOST:
Let’s talk about slowing down. Many people feel like if they stop hustling, everything will collapse — especially financially.
GUEST:
Exactly. Scarcity isn’t just mindset — it’s a nervous system state.
If your body learned that rest equals danger, it will resist slowing down. If your caregivers hustled themselves into exhaustion, your subconscious internalized that hustle = safety.
Until you rewire that, you’ll always feel guilty resting.
[00:12:00] THE SUBCONSCIOUS & “NOT ENOUGHNESS”
GUEST:
The subconscious mind’s job is to keep you safe, not happy. So if doing less ever created chaos, rejection, or judgment in the past, rest feels unsafe now.
That’s why people can consciously want abundance but subconsciously resist it — because abundance requires expansion, and expansion feels threatening if safety is tied to hustling.
[00:16:00] THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, PRODUCTIVITY & OVERWHELM
GUEST:
When the nervous system is in fight/flight/freeze, the brain isn’t thinking about big visions or strategy. It’s thinking about survival.
When regulated, you access creativity, flow, clarity, and presence.
EFT moves you from the “mosh pit” to the “box seats.” You go from chaos to clarity.
HOST:
I love that analogy so much.
[00:19:00] MONEY FEAR & SCARCITY PROGRAMMING
HOST:
Money wounds often drive hustle patterns. People feel like slowing down means financial collapse.
GUEST:
Yes — many people fear investing in healing because they think,
“If I stop hustling long enough to fix this, I’ll fall behind.”
But the truth is:
Hustle isn’t safety. Alignment is safety.
[00:21:00] HOW THE SUBCONSCIOUS BLOCKS EASE
GUEST:
Your subconscious runs 95% of your life. If rest was ever unsafe, your body will block ease.
That’s why you can’t out-hustle a subconscious belief.
[00:26:00] WHAT EFT IS & HOW IT WORKS
HOST:
Let’s explain EFT tapping for listeners.
GUEST:
EFT combines Chinese meridian points with modern psychology. By tapping while speaking your truth, you send safety signals to the amygdala. Cortisol can drop up to 43% in minutes.
It releases stored emotional charge and rewires limiting beliefs.
There are also “borrowed benefits”—working on one issue often improves others.
[00:34:00] RETURNING TO EASE, FLOW & INTUITION
GUEST:
When your nervous system feels safe, decision-making becomes intuitive and grounded. Productivity becomes sustainable, not forced.
HOST:
Ease is a choice — but your nervous system needs to feel safe enough to choose it.
