WYP Riff: You Can't Fake Consistency.
Sometimes, the message hits differently.
This is a fresh riff on a truth I’ve shared before—but now I see it more sharply, more urgently:
You can’t fake consistency.
Time is the ultimate storyteller.
Where you are right now is the result of what you've done repeatedly, not what you've said, planned, or promised.
In this episode, I unpack how identity, daily decisions, and small non-negotiables shape everything. And how defining who you are, what you do, and where you're going isn't optional—it’s essential.
Listen in and ask yourself:
- What story is time telling about me?
- What do I need to start doing every day, no matter what?
Check out this episode and the original (ep. 863) for contrast.
Sometimes you have to say it again to hear it differently.

You know, time is a wonderful storyteller. I say that time is the ultimate storyteller. See, if you sit back and look back over your life, you're gonna realize that's so freaking true, man. Time tells the story where you are right now. That's the story, and it didn't happen overnight. It happened over time, so why do we think that getting out of something should be instant? It's not just like getting here took time. Getting out is gonna take consistency. And you can't fake consistency. You can fake hype. You can fake intensity. You can fake well wished intentions, but you can't fake consistency. You want to know someone's truth. Don't look at what they say. Look at what they do. Look at where they are. That's the result in time. It tells the truth. And here's the good news, if you don't like the story, time is telling. You can rewrite it, but you can only rewrite it through the ink of daily consistency. See, everything that you want is on the other side of consistent everything that you don't want. It is a result of being inconsistent. Coach Prime says that when you define who you are, what you do, and where you're going, your life, a successful life is going to begin to take shape. See, most people are inconsistent because they haven't defined any of that. Who you are, what you do, and where you're going. They're just kind of floating through the day, like a paper bag in the wind, undefined, unclear, unaligned. But when you define who you are and you define what you do and where you're headed, and you align your actions with that, this is where you stop negotiating with yourself. See, when you enter into negotiations with yourself, should I, shouldn't I? Maybe next week, double up first of the year. If you enter into negotiations with yourself, you're gonna lose every single time. So let me ask you this. Who are you? What's the identity that you want to embody? And I'm not talking about just some title or version that you talk about on Instagram. I'm talking about the real you, the authentic you. The one that you live when no one else is watching. Define what you want in life, not how what? Then ask yourself, what are a few consistent actions that will move me in that direction every single day? See directions more important than speed, and if that's the case, then don't slap some sort of unreasonable timeframe to it until, is your timeframe, how long is it gonna take until if you stay consistent, you're gonna get there. See, the problem is most people don't have an identity. They have an idea. But think about ideas, they're fleeting. How many ideas have you come up with and totally forgot what they were? By the end of the day, same is true for your life. So when you have an idea of your life, it's gone. Especially once adversity or uncertainty hits. Then you allow circumstances. Your friends, your family, society, define who you are. This is your life, and this is your one and only life. Stop chasing the person that you wanna become. Just be that person now, and the only way you can do that is by being consistent. So let's make this simple. Sit down in the next three mornings and write one question each day and define it. Who are you? That's day one, day two, what do you do? What are your non-negotiables? What are your, no matter whats, in other words, you can do it every single day. Not a long list, just a handful of things. If you need a primer, wake up at a said time. Read 15 minutes. Write your takeaway from what you just read in your own words. Share your takeaway so that way it holds you accountable. Go work out and then design your day design to align, meaning you know that you're gonna eat today. Define that right now before you get emotionally jerked around. Lay out your clothes to work out and what you're gonna wear that day. Do it the night before. It is that simple. And then lastly, what do you want? Not how? What, when it happens is not up to you. What you do for when it happens is completely up to you see, I stay within this framework so that way I don't have to waste any emotional currency deciding on what to do. I don't have to negotiate with myself. I don't get overwhelmed. I just flow. See, when you define your day, you stop fighting with yourself. You're just in alignment, you've already laid it out. All you have to do is show up and check the box. Time is the ultimate storyteller. And if you want a better story, practice better consistency. Stop wishing that you were consistent and start doing. Consistent things because at the end of the day, consistency isn't spoken. It's revealed. Keep it simple, keep it moving. Never settle. Stay tough. Peace. I.
