Here, we talk about the chapters we rarely share: letting go, starting over, finding your voice, healing old stories, and learning to create space for the person you’re growing into. It’s real. It’s relatable. It’s you.
If you’re ready for transformation—with a little laughter, connection, and permission to show up imperfectly—pull up a seat.
This is where your becoming begins.

Welcome and Poem of Reflection
Speaker 1Welcome back. It is definitely time for some tea, and I'm your host, makita, and I am so honored, truly honored, that you're here with me today. I don't know what you're doing right now. Maybe you're walking, maybe you're driving, maybe you're standing at your sink just taking in the moment, drinking your coffee or tea. But wherever you are, I want to thank you for making space and time for not just yourself, but for this moment. I don't know about you, but today feels a little different. It feels sacred. But before we get into all of that tea, I want to share this poem with you. It's something that I read and it's been sitting on my heart, and I would just love to share this poem of reflection with you guys. All right, there's a fire inside you. They try to silence a bloom beneath the weight of survival, but still you rose, not because they gave you light, but because you remembered your roots. That part about remembering your roots, that's been me, that's been this entire season, and I hope that it's felt that way for you as well.
The Unpolished Truth of This Season
Speaker 1When I started this season, I had no real blueprint, no clear destination, just a knowing. I knew I had been through a lot. There was so many emotions swirling. I had so much to say and I knew I wanted to connect. Now, if I'm being honest with you, I did want this season to feel more polished. I really wanted this idea of perfection. I had this vision of smooth transitions, tightly wrapped episode, a clear roadmap of what I wanted. But truth, truth doesn't follow a script, truth is messy and nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing goes as planned. And, as my mama says, if you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans. And she wasn't wrong. This season was stripped down. It wasn't guest heavy, it was me and you sitting down, no filter, just us sharing space, holding stories, being real. And, if I'm being honest, this season felt more personal than I ever expected because, for me, this show, it has held me through some of the hardest moments in my life. It took me from different seasons and chapters and it has been my strength.
Speaker 1When I didn't know what to say and honestly that was a lot of the time I just pressed record anyway. When I felt like I didn't have the words, I just press record anyway. When I felt like I didn't have the words, I just started to speak and somehow, not only did I show up, but you showed up, week after week, sip after sip, you poured your tea, you made space, you held the hard stuff, you laughed with me, you paused with me, you cried with me, and in doing that we held each other accountable. We created a place and a space that was safe, that was sacred, that allowed us to be who we were, whether sometimes that was messy, sometimes it was us put together, knowing our next step. Sometimes it would us sitting there thinking to ourselves that we feel like we're in the same spot we started from, and what I've learned is this season wasn't about being polished or presenting this well put together person. It was about being present.
Growth in Silence and Redefining Self-Care
Speaker 1In the season we talked about grief, we talked about rest, we talked about what it meant and what it looked like and what it felt like to let go like and what it felt like to let go. We got honest about what it means to keep showing up when you're tired, uncertain or feeling invisible. But more than that, we cracked open what it means to reclaim who you are, to take off the mask, to stop pretending we're fine, to say this is me in progress, in progress, still here. You see, growth doesn't always announce itself. Sometimes it looks like silence, sometimes it feels like we're sitting in quicksand, not going anywhere, but just like planting a seed not going anywhere, but just like planting a seed you don't see what's happening underground, the breaking, the rooting, the becoming. This season reminded me you don't have to be loud to be powerful, you just have to be honest.
Speaker 1And also in this season, I redefined what self-care was and what it wasn't. We peeled back those layers to reclaim that sometimes, if we go through this idea of always trying to protect our peace and reclaim this or that, that we operate more in this masculine shift versus being in our feminine element. There's times that we have to use both. But we have to remember who we want to be, who we want to become, and understand that we have to have this balance of both our masculine energy and our feminine energy, and there's no right or wrong time to use either one. We just got to be conscious of it. And that's what this season has been about Just this reconnection and reclaiming and re-understanding understanding of what that looks like to step into, who not only who I want to be and who I want to show up as, but give you an opportunity to look at, through my journey, how you want to show up what that looks like for you.
Recognizing Your Strength and Evolution
Speaker 1And let me say this loud and clear If you're feeling like you've been stuck, like you've just been spinning in circles, like nothing has been changing for you, just know that you didn't sit around waiting for someone to rescue you. Even through the hard times, even when it felt like life was just giving you one heartache after another, you didn't wait for the perfect moment, you didn't wait for permission. You allowed yourself to become the magic, because you are the magic. You've been rewriting your story in real time and sometimes in reflections. We don't see that. We just see where we're at, not how far we've come. But if you look back to where you were, your process of thinking, from three months ago, from last week to this week, you have shown up in more ways than you realize, just by doing the small things, and maybe you didn't see it or didn't feel it, but think about it. You're here now. You're stronger, you're softer. You are still becoming and that's the real high of this season Recognizing that sometimes, in this process of messy, that messy middle that feels like you're stuck, you are still becoming.
Speaker 1You are still recognizing your purpose, where you want to be, how you want to show up, and it's been about remembering who you are, reclaiming your voice, reclaiming your rhythm and owning your power in this world that tries so hard to silence it power in this world that tries so hard to silence it. Now I don't know about you, but I could really, with each episode, I could feel the shift happening, and maybe you did too. I hope you did. I hope you felt something awakening in you that made you question things, got curious about. Why do I feel this way? What can I change today? What's one thing I can do that can get me closer to where I want to be, and I hope that it felt like a fire rising inside of you, and I hope that that moment you realize that you don't need to stay and play it safe just because it's familiar. You can do the impossible.
Speaker 1Trust me as an introvert, as someone who the idea of putting themselves out there is the most terrifying thing in the world. Ourselves out there is the most terrifying thing in the world. Starting this podcast honestly was the biggest life-changing thing and the best thing that I could ever do to myself. It was like a love letter to my younger self and my future self and a reminder for my present self to continue to evolve, for my present self to continue to evolve. And as we talk about evolving and becoming and reclaiming our voice, in just a few months I am going to be launching a new podcast and no, tomper T is not going anywhere. This place has built me, it has strengthened me and it will continue to do that for me.
Speaker 1And just like anything sometimes I think, sometimes when we pivot or when we realize that our purpose sometimes gets a little bit bigger, I just want you to know you don't necessarily have to stop doing the thing that you love to pivot and grow into something else. Sometimes we take what we have, reinvent that and continue to do the thing that we love. You don't have to have one or the other. You can do both. You just have to figure out what that would look like for you, how much time and energy you want to put into that. So, as I was thinking about what's next for me and how I want to grow, I had been thinking about this for a long time, about creating a new podcast and would I have the space and energy and time for this and I realized that I can do anything. Just like you, we can do anything.
Speaker 1So my new podcast is called New Unaxed. It's going to be released in the fall and it's a show about diving into stories that got buried. It's about telling stories in parts of history that were erased or overlooked. Giving life to the things that we've forgotten, people that we've forgotten, stories, people that we've forgotten, stories that have been history has tried to erase. Giving that voice back, diving deep into history, into stories, into forgotten people. Spot the truths people avoid but desperately need to hear. It's history, it's humanity, it's healing, wrapped into one bold, unapologetic story each week.
Speaker 1And, yes, it's different, but it's still me, just a version of me that lets me dive into more research, into more documentary style, and we're going to be just really peeling back the layers and I promise you that I will still be here for Time for Tea with Makita, because I am looking to take Time for Tea with Makita, because I am looking to take Time for Tea with Makita to the next level. In fact, when we return to next season, it's gonna be even more powerful, more intentional, more guest-driven, more story-rich and fully centered around reinvention, and not just talking about reinvention. We're talking about being bold in the steps that we're taking, giving guidance. I'm talking about all of it. Ok, and let's be real, we're still in the middle of becoming so, with becoming, there's always reinvention. It's always that next pivot, and I want to be there for your next chapter, just like you have been here for every season and chapter with me. Now you don't have to, like I said, abandon what you love to step into what's next. You just have to evolve with it, and that's what I'm doing Evolving with this platform, with this podcast, with you.
Season Finale and Future Plans
Speaker 1This has never been just a podcast for me. It's been a place to be seen, to be heard, to be real and to give other people a space, a safe, sacred space, to show up just as you are, to meet you where you are and to be on that journey with you. And I created this podcast, time for Tea, not just to give myself a voice, but to amplify the voices of people who sometimes feel overlooked, who feel like their stories don't matter, like they're in this thing alone. I want to say now, I see you, I've been with you and I'm rooting for you. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to stay connected. Subscribe to the channel if you haven't already. Share this episode with someone you love.
Speaker 1I also want you to get ready for not just new episodes of Time for Tea with Makita, but I want you to get ready for no One Acts, because it's coming in the fall and we'll be back with more Time for Tea with Makeda as well in the spring season, because we're not done, we are just taking it to the next level, evolving, and it's time to bloom like you've never bloomed before and after this. This is our season finale episode. I know, I know, but I'm not just going to leave you hanging. I'm going to come back with a mini series, you guys, to keep you amped over the summer. Just a mini series to take you behind the scenes of Tom for Tea, what it has really looked like behind the scenes of Tom for Tea, what it has really looked like behind the scenes, and let you see, like, how this thing was all put together.
Speaker 1Like I said, there was no blueprint, sometimes it was just winging it. But being truthful about it in the process, sharing where I've been in the transitions as I was actually going through it, a lot of my talks and stories are things that I'm actually experiencing, have experienced, have went through and I just want to share it with you guys. So stay tuned for that as well. Just like always, until next time. This has been Time for Tea with Paquita, where we just don't talk about change, we live it. Continue to stay bold, stay soft, stay beautifully unbalanced, and I'll see you in the minute series and next season with this brand new chapter. Until next time, my friends namaste.
