Politicians thrive on chaos, and the world keeps paying the price—when will we finally demand real solutions instead of finger-pointing? From oil prices skyrocketing, the relentless Ukraine war, and Middle East turmoil, to global uncertainty fuelled by leaders unwilling to cooperate, this episode of The Rant Network dives deep into how crisis after crisis is met with spin rather than substance. If you've ever wondered why things never seem to get easier, and why political gamesmanship continues to overshadow the need for unity, this episode will leave you questioning the motives of those in power.

Solo Host Holiday Check-In

SPEAKER_00

Yep. I'm alone again. Yep, Stewart's out for today. He'll be back on Monday. And for those of you who are celebrating Good Friday, wishing you all the very best on this holy day. And hopefully you'll have a great Easter. Uh you'll be able to enjoy the weekend as much as you can under the trying circumstances that we're dealing with here on a global scale. And um I gotta tell you, this is really what it's about, is trying to find a way to make the best of a very difficult situation. I had a really interesting conversation with someone last week, and they were telling me, you know, man, it's tough out there. And I'm like, okay, what do you mean? He says, well, you know, the economy, the war, oil prices, it's it's just it's just hell. It's just hell, it's just hell, it's just hell. And I said, Can you scratch your head for me and tell me the last time you said it was easy out there? Where times were easy. And he scratched his head. He says, You know, I can't, I don't remember. Because if you go back, I don't know how many years you want to go back, let's say even back to 2008, we had so many incidents, so many crises. From Greece nearly going bankrupt, the banking crisis in the United States, COVID then popped up. Oil prices went ballistic, even way back when. You know, oil has been already over$100 a barrel in the past. And now, you know, with the Ukraine war, in which we saw what that did to our food prices. And we forgot about that. Ukraine war has been put on the back end, on the back burner, because you know, other things that are more important to the West and to the media. So, but we forgot about that war that's now on for almost five years. And look at the impact it had on us. And now we have this one. Well, we also had the Israel, you know, Hamas situation, Hezbollah, the Houthis, all kinds of things that created uncertainty, you know, disruptions in the world, the Houthis close trying to close the you know the Red Sea and attacking ships. And there was all there's been something for so long. So after so much trial and trial and tribulation, and a lot of finger pointing from all parties, you know, there was a really funny that old joke. Why can't we just get along? Why can't we just figure this out? See, politicians don't want to figure things out. Politicians thrive on chaos. They do. They want to show you why you need them, they want to show you why they're the right choice. And but take a look at how many politicians did something in a time of crisis. Now, this is an accusation I do to both the right and the left. So if you're sitting here thinking, David, you're gonna shit on liberals again and progressives, no, I'm I'm an equal opportunity shitter. I'm gonna go after everybody because both sides are guilty of the same thing. And here we are in a time when we need to understand that this war that many accuse the United States and Israel of starting unnecessarily, the impact that it has on people is devastating. So let's take a step back in what we're talking about here. Politically, you have people on the left right now, whether it's in the United States or these dozens of countries that have decided that they won't side with the United States. That they've decided that, you know what, if I side with Trump, it looks like I'm on Trump's side, and therefore it's going to cost me votes in my own country. And you see the dozens of countries who refuse to help the United States, and by extension, Israel, in the Straits of Hormuz and on this on the attack on Iran. And now France has decided it's no longer going to get involved, you know, selling military weapons to Israel. And so as a result, what's happened is that you've created for yourself this piss war that the French, for example, are now cut off by Israel, military intelligence, cyber help, all kinds of things that helped French society. Israel said, okay, if you're gonna be like that, we're done. We're gonna cut you off. Britain had the same thing with the United States. What was the risk to the people? You see, the politicians need to have this kind of chaos. The politicians cannot be caught. The risk of getting caught by siding with Bibi or Trump could be devastating politically, but not for the benefit of the people. That's crazy. That's the insanity level that we're at today. Iran has threatened not just the United States and Israel, but the surrounding Arab countries, Turkey, Europe, United States, Israel, other countries. And what do these countries do say? Nope. I'd rather support a terrorist regime than support Donald Trump. You are in danger with that kind of stupid decision. Now, you may not love Trump, and I get it. And you're probably sitting here going, Solomon, you're nuts, because Trump is a fucking lunatic. He should be you know impeached. You've got James Kerbell making stupid statements like the Democrats will go out and try to impeach this guy, and all these things, all these things, it's all anti-Trump, anti-Trump, anti-Trump. Meanwhile, one of the greatest threats in the Middle East that the that countries around Iran have said they realized Iran is the greatest threat to stability in the Middle East. If the Middle East wants to get out of the 8th century and where it's been stuck with in so many of these countries, the opportunity today is to get rid of the Iran. You get rid of Iran, you get rid of the terrorist regimes, you get rid of the instability, you get rid of the ongoing wars. The benefit of getting rid of an Iran, more countries will jump on the Abraham Accords, meaning a stronger, economic, more democratic Middle East, and yes, more democratic. I'm not saying democracy is there, but you'll have more of that coming into those countries. But instead, these governments would rather have instability in the Middle East, which then leads to instability in their homes. Again, not to your benefit. How does that make any sense? So let's talk about what right-wing conservatives could do, you know, to help out here, to help these governments out. And I'll take a page out of Pierre Polyev, who's the leader of the Canadian Conservative Party. Now, Pierre Polyev is not a well-loved individual. I get it. Many people that I've met along the way have quite nasty remarks about Mr. Polyev and his demeanor, and he's come across in many ways that pisses a lot of people off. But what's interesting is that Polyev has stood up and said, let's forget this whole political nonsense and let's help Canadians. And in he's put out there the idea that while oil taxes are oil, sorry, while oil is going up so excessively, and gas prices have reached here in Canada over$2 in many places, which is essentially virtually$8, you know,$8 Canadian a gallon,$650-ish a gallon, Canadians are suffering. And why is our price so high in Canada versus, say, the US that's at a$4 gallon average? Taxes. That's right. Taxes. If you look at the gas tax that has been in place since the Pierre Trudeau liberals put it in place, yeah, the idea came from the conservatives from Joe Clark back then. And yes, Joe Clark lost an election over it. But Pierre Trudeau said, what a great idea. Let's start putting in taxes on gas and we'll make more money. Because who what Canadian isn't going to want to have gas in their tank? Well, lo and behold, that has been hurting us more and more and more. Because as gas prices go up, the percentage of the stays the same, but then the amount becomes more excessive. Polyev called for the end of a federal gas tax. He can't say anything about the provinces. That's not in his periphery. He's not allowed to go there. But if you got rid of that 5% GST plus the other gas taxes that are applied there, it would help Canadians incredibly, even if it means a temporary suspension. But you know what's going to happen, right? It's a conservative idea. Therefore, we shouldn't do it. The liberals, under Mark Carney, will have to figure a way to twist it to make it their idea. And therefore, it can't look like the conservatives came up with an idea. We're not rallying together. Your politicians aren't trying to help you. They're trying to hurt you. They're trying to get that whole business done so that you can vote for them. On Wednesday, Stewart talked about this with respect to the TSA and ICE. Unbelievably stupid how the way the Democrats and the Republicans handled this entire situation. Both parties are guilty of this, folks. Yes, the Democrats could have and would have and should have voted it in earlier weeks and weeks ago. But they needed a play. The Republicans refused to move, the Democrats refused to give a better offer. And here's where you are, ladies and gentlemen. Hours and hours of lineups in a ver in so many different airports. That even the liberal media was going to the Democratic Crats going, what are you doing here? And the Democrats continue with their same speech. Then Republicans continue with their same speech. You know, Joe Biden's open borders have caused this problem. And therefore, I got it. We heard it enough. And the Democrats, the same thing. ICE agents, they're like Gestapo. They're like, you got we got to stop them. You can't put them in airports. You can't this, we can't that. Once again, Donald Trump got the Democrats, caught him by their pants down, by signing an executive order to pay the TSA agents. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what we're talking about. Stop worrying about partisan politics and get the shit done. Absolutely not. The game of politics continues to be you versus me, and you, the electorate, are the pawns in the game. And so right now, as we sit here and we were watching this back and forth battle over should we get involved in Iran, not get involved in Iran, you can see it, it is totally along party lines. Liberals, lefties, progressives, call it whatever you want, refuse to get involved with Iran. No problem with Ukraine. No problem with Ukraine, but a problem with Trump. Zelensky was the love child of Europe. How Russia, the big Russia, attacked little Ukraine, Zelensky, the victim. Oh, we love victims. We took him under umbrella, and Joe Biden sent God knows how many you know weapons to Ukraine, and everybody said it's the European war. That they know that if Russia beats Ukraine, who else is next in Europe? And the US jumped in. And while Donald Trump claimed he was gonna cut off the Ukraine, he didn't. Arms kept going for the European war or the war to save Europe. But now it's Trump's turn. Trump called on these same countries to say, I need help in Iran. And the answer was no. From Canada to Spain to UK to you name it, dozens of countries said no. Why? Trump. Simple, plain, clear. You know, the Iran has threatened terrorist cells to go active in all of these countries. That they were gonna attack people in vacation spots, they were gonna get people in public place spaces, they were gonna attack religious institutions. Iran was overt with the threat. And the reaction has been what? Nothing. We're not gonna silence Iran. So yeah, they threw in some in some places some additional security. And yeah, if you look at some places, you would think that there was like a military action happening in front of some synagogues and some churches and what have you. But it's interesting to see that they did nothing else. They're not, you know, they're not trying to stop this war because they're playing politics with your lives. And if God forbid there's a serious terrorist attack, what do you think is gonna happen? Blame Trump. It's not my fault. Trump brought this on us. We did nothing to do this. The fact is that the United States and Israel is doing something that the rest of the world didn't want to do, but had no choice to do. And so while there's been instability in the world, and this is the most instable, unstable time frame we can remember since possibly World War II. Why aren't other countries getting involved in saying, let's finish the job? It's because they're afraid to lose their base. They're afraid to lose people who hate Trump with such a hate. They hate him so much that they're gonna do anything just to avoid looking, appearing that he's on their side. We need more centrists. We need more people who understand more towards the middle. You know, a John Fetterman, a Bill Maher, I mean, these are two completely different people a senator, an entertainer, or a news commentator, call it whatever you want, is trying to get people to realize that, yeah, they don't love Trump, but they have to agree with a lot of things that he's doing because you want to make this a better place. So if you do want to make this a better place, ladies and gentlemen, put the pressure on your politicians. Get your politicians to wake up and say, no, no, no, no, no, no. We have to get rid of this horrific regime in Iran in order for the world to create some sort of you know stability. You want to get rid of the hard times, you want to make life a little bit easier? Let's get rid of those threats. And if you don't think it's in your in your neighborhood, then you are delusional because they are. They're in every neighborhood, every nook and cranny you can imagine. They're just waiting to get active. And Iran has proven that they have no care who they hit, they hit their so-called allies, they've hit Europe who supported them with on the G GCOPA, and that's it. So if you think that Iran is the good guy here, and if you think this regime is gonna, you know, diplomacy and let's talk all these wonderful things, that ain't happening. So if you want to see gas prices go down, and if you want to see life get better, put the pressure on your politicians to do the right thing and put partisan politics aside. That's it, ladies and gentlemen. Hope you're having yourself a great weekend. Looking forward to catching you on Monday. Stay well and let's wish peace not just in the Middle East, but around the world. Take care.
