America Turns 250 And We Argue About Freedom
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
“When half your country celebrates freedom and the other half wants to regulate it, you’re not honoring independence — you’re burying it.” This episode of The Rant Network rips into America’s 250th birthday and the ideological war tearing it apart. Stuart and David contrast the spirit of the Founding Fathers — men who risked everything for liberty — with today’s political class pushing socialism, censorship, and government‑approved morality. From Freddie Figgers’ self‑made success to the Empire State Building’s private‑enterprise triumph, they argue that America’s greatness was built by individuals, not bureaucrats. As Canada and Europe slide deeper into state control, the rant warns that the U.S. is next unless citizens reclaim the freedom that made it exceptional.

Canada, Patriotism, And America At 250
SPEAKER_01Living in the US so long you probably forgot about Canada. But you know what? I don't want to talk about Canada. I've talked to you about Canada without you. And I'll continue to talk about Canada without you as well because it's we're we're we're this crazy massive shit show. But speaking of shit shows, you know, I I said in one of our previous rants that I remember in being in the states in 1977, right after the two after the the the bicentennial, and I was amazed by the patriotism in the United States. I'm amazed as we as America reaches 250. What is what has gone so badly wrong in 50 years with your country, my friend?
SPEAKER_00All right, let's start.
The Founding Idea Of Being Born Free
SPEAKER_00250 years ago, 56 men signed their name to a document that could have and should have gotten them hung. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, their sacred honor, not to a government, not to a party, to a collective, but to an idea, a spark. That idea, you are born free. And today, at 250 America's birthday, one half of our political system is trying to burn that idea to the ground. And it doesn't give me any pleasure to say this. Let me paint you a picture of America in 2026, David.
Freddie Figgers And The American Dream
SPEAKER_00On one side, you've got a kid named Freddie Figger, born in Quincy, Florida, abandoned at birth, thrown away like garbage, adopted by a 68-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman who had nothing but love. At 13, he dropped out of school, not because he gave up, because his adopted father developed Alzheimer's, and Freddie refused to let him go into a nursing home. So what did he do? He took apart an alarm clock, VCRs, television components, and built a GPS tracking chip, and he put it into the sole of his father's shoe so he could find him when he wandered off. By 16, Freddie Finger had found Figgers Communication, a telecom company that now serves 280 million Americans. His foundation has donated nearly 8 million in resources to over 27,000 families. That, David, is the American dream. Not a government program, not a handout, free enterprise, freedom to create, freedom to be. In Freddie's own words, the American dream to me is free enterprise, having the freedom to create, having the freedom to invent, and to be yourself, making a difference in the lives of others and just living out your full potential without any limitations.
A Socialist Turn Inside US Politics
SPEAKER_00Now, on the other side of that picture, I'd like you to meet the Democratic Party of 2026. While America is trying to celebrate 250 years of freedom, the left is in the middle of a full-blown socialist takeover of their own party. Elizabet Warren spent this election cycle actively recruiting candidates who will not support even their own Senate minority leader. She backed three Senate primary candidates who openly refuse to back Chucky Schumer. Because Schumer, of all people, isn't left enough for her. Who does the progressive base want to put forward as the face of the new Democratic Party? AOC, a self-described Democrat socialist, the same woman whose fighting oligarchy tour with Bernie Sanders on private jets grew and drew massive crowds. Not for freedom, not for free enterprise, not for the American Constitution, but the most radical economic restructuring of American life since FDR's New Deal.
New Deal Warnings And Private Enterprise
SPEAKER_00Speaking of which, you want to know what happened when government takeover of the economy. History has answered this. During the Great Depression, FDR seized control of manufacturing, agriculture, wage prices, and literally made Americans hand over their private gold to the Treasury. The result, unemployment stayed above 10% for years. The Supreme Court had to throw out his biggest power grab. And still, still, the left looked back at that era as the golden age of government and leadership. The Empire State Building was built 18 months during the deepest of the greatest depression in history by private enterprise, by ambition, by American intenuity. Ingenuity. It is intenuity, not by government job programs, not by a five-year plan. The skyscraper, the most recognizable symbol of American achievement in the world, can only be born here, because here is where freedom was born. Or at least it used to be. Today is almost the 4th of July. America is almost 250 years old. And I want to ask people that call themselves the Democrat Party, the party of Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, only one question. What exactly are you celebrating today? On that day? Because the country you're building, the one with government-managed prices, government-approved speeches, government-approved winners, government-approved losers, that's not a country that the 56 men signed their names on nearly 250 years ago. Freddie Fingers didn't need you. The men who built the Empire State Building didn't need you. And Americans, the real ones, the forgotten ones, the ones who still believe in this place, don't need you either. 250 years in a republic that still stands. David, my response is no, thank you. I want to, you know, look, this is an emotional rant.
Education, Media, And The Enemy Within
SPEAKER_00You have a party burning buildings like books in the nineteen thirties, chanting from the river to the sea. The United States is supposed to be a beacon of hope and freedom and free enterprise. The education system has denied teaching what is communism, what is socialism, what is what goes wrong when government controls the narrative.
SPEAKER_01David. Let's go back, okay? Why was America founded? It was really simple. Britain, France were on a global conquest. Yeah, so were other countries. But Britain and France were the powerhouse, or let's say England. And here are these colonies who were fed up of British rule. They were fed up of a monarchy. They were fed up on an autocratic system where men were and women, men primarily, were not created equal. Yes, the United States emerged as a unique, it was a unicorn in its day. And it morphed over generations. Slavery, which are are a guest of, which was global at the time, which there wasn't a country that didn't have slaves. Yeah. There was war. But ladies and gentlemen, that is life. We have gone through different types of governments globally. We've had kings and queens, we've had socialism and communism, and we've had this thing called democracy. And the problem with democracy, Stuart, is it's the most vulnerable way of government. And it's life in the United States is the most vulnerable because in every other version, socialism, monarchism, whatever you want to call it, and autocratism, it's because it's controlled, it's a controlled society. You aren't allowed free speech, you aren't allowed to express yourself, you're not allowed to share your feelings. You must follow what the government tells you to do. That is what your founding fathers wanted to get away from, and that is what has evolved over 250 years, and as a result, it's created this opportunity for the naysayers to tell you how bad it is, and to sell you on a bill of goods, educate an entire generation of people, youngsters, to tell you that the life in the United States is terrible. And because of the education in the United States, because of the narrowness of media, because you're not exposed, sort of the United States, Canada are not exposed to other countries. Because tell me something, if you ever open up the news, what countries do you talk about? You don't talk about what goes on in South America, you don't talk about what goes on in Africa, Asia, parts of Europe, you don't. You're in this bubble, and the bubble you get to teach people who don't want to learn, but you get to teach people that America's bad. And that's what these socialists, that's what's happened over the last 50 years. That's what's different, Stuart, from when I was six, seven years old to today is that back then we were clear the enemy wasn't on American soil. Yes, Vietnam was over, but we knew the communists wanted to rule the world and destroy the democracy that was built. We knew what was going on, but 50 years later, the enemy is now in within. The Soviets were smart enough, but didn't last long enough. And they lasted to today, and that's what Putin is hoping for. America collapses and Russia takes over the world as the superpower. And then our lives will change. What people have done, what we've created is a society of people who chase negativity, who chase the fact that things cannot be good, that every that only way we could be happy is to be angry. And that's your that's society in the US and Canada today. It's not just in the West, it's also in the West. So what you've got right now is a group of is a generation that doesn't know about 9-11, that it's continuously believing that the United States brought it upon itself the same way they're saying that is that Israel brought upon itself it's October 7th. It's this new ideology, Stuart, and I'll wrap it up with this. What's America you've got really fighting and competing sides? One group that is fighting hard to maintain its patriotism and its beauty and its celebration celebration of the United States versus those that want to destroy it from within. Welcome to America 250.
US Versus Canada And A Socialist Test Case
SPEAKER_00David, comparing because you brought up Canada and I didn't really think about it. You talk about it plenty. The Declaration of Independence versus Canada's Constitutional Act, America's life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Canada is peace, order, and good government. One was written in the language of freedom, the other language of the states. That contrast has never been more relevant. Canada's Cuzma trade deal with the U.S. and Mexico, which is now in critical review phase, as of today, actually. And it's in the news. You know, the rise of NDP, liberal coalition in Canada, and the AOC Sanders wing of the U.S. represent parallel democratic socialist movements, both sides of the border. Each pushing government-managed economics. You know, listen, Canada's own experiment with government-managed healthcare, housing, energy offers a real world test case of a socialist model. Correct. AOC and Warren are pushing in the U.S. with, you know, as as its concrete results. The hypocrisy is, the hypocrisy is it's failed in Canada. It's failed its people, you know, from medical care to even human dignity. You know, there is a group in Toronto. I sent you the reel. Police are going door to door off your internet posts. Stuart, hey, Stuart, this is what this is what, no, but to your point, this is what this government has passed.
SPEAKER_01They they put the mask on that they're liberals. Guys, Democrats, people, if you vote Democrat, listen carefully. They tell you they're all about democracy, they call themselves liberals, and they pass a law that says that you are not allowed. It's a law. You cannot criticize the government on social media, that they could come and arrest you. So what I'm doing here on the ranch, Stuart, in theory, the police could show up at my door tomorrow. This is what socialism is going to bring you.
SPEAKER_00So listen, listen, I got it. I I was watching, you know, two politicians dueling it out, you know, one of them being an old neighbor of ours. And I gotta tell you, is the coolie that these people are drinking hallucinogenic or not? And I'm not gonna mention his name because you don't like it when I mention his name. However, you know exactly who I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but Stuart, it's it's you you you bring we we're here talking about USA and Canada's proof positive. Today's Canada's Day, though. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. And forget about it. And England is proof positive, and France is proof positive, and Spain is proof positive. That the moment you push the West further left, it snaps, it breaks. You see the collapse in the UK, it's gonna get worse with the new leader. You see what's going on in France, you see what's going on in Germany, you see what's going on in Spain, and you know what the problem is, Stuart? Your media doesn't want to cover that because that's the reality the socialists are bringing to the table. And as the US is about to celebrate 250, you know, if you want to put up a socialist flag in the United States because you think that this is the way to go, you're in for trouble.
SPEAKER_00They don't, but you know what? It's the and again, we we've got to wrap
Media Narratives And A Dark 2028 Forecast
SPEAKER_00this. But at the end of the day, it's the education system that's failed in Canada and the US and in broad Western Europe. So it's education system. It's not just the education system, Stewart.
SPEAKER_01It's it's your media that has come out there, and it's in and every single time you turn on a CNN, an MS Now, an ABC, a CBS, an NBC, every time you open it up, it tells you how bad America is under Trump. It tells you how bad things are, that his 250th birthday party that he's done is a disaster. Everything's a disaster. There is such radical extremism in media, and it's just this constant barrage of why things are shit. And yet, under socialism, Mamdani is being celebrated. All these wins by the DSA are being celebrated, celebrated by the media steward, not condemned, celebrated. They're hiding the fact that Mam Dani is a hardcore racist. This woman who won in New York hates America, and bel, you know, I mean, and and and when you hear allegations that the United States and and look even on CNN, oh, the Republicans are anti-immigration. When you do this, when you create these false narratives, if you say this often enough, it becomes fact. And as a result, you've got a you've got like a good chunk of the US who is either gonna go if in 2028, Stuart, by 2028, the United States may die if this if they go and they win. I promise you, they I would here here's my prediction. One of two things is gonna happen civil war or country states are gonna start to ask to secede from the United States because there's no way they're gonna want to attach themselves to a socialist government federal government. Welcome to you, America 250. Wrap it up, buddy.
SPEAKER_00I'm trying to figure out how to wrap this bon up in a bud. It's just sad. It's just sad.
SPEAKER_01Instead of celebrating, we're kind of we're
Schedule, Sign Off, And A Challenge
SPEAKER_01crying.
SPEAKER_00All right, everybody, everybody, Wednesday, Friday, noon Easter. David and I take it down, and yes, David faces a peril of being hooked up by uh the Canadian uh RCMP for talking crap about government, but that's okay. He did, I did, and you can't get me. I'm in the United States. All right, guys, we'll see you all next time. Happy first, happy fourth, and you know what else? Let's try to be fucking happy.
