We went through this last month the last episode man shout out to z. Appreciate z for checking in the last time. If somebody finds he, go find z and tell him that tanaka then did it again.
Speaker 1He's logging out the.
Speaker 3I gotta log in, bro, I don't know bro.
Speaker 2You know what I'm saying no, I don't know what you're saying?
Speaker 1I don't be having space. I be shooting all these videos. I don't got space on my phone.
Speaker 2I be having to do this.
Speaker 1You just forgot it too, Bro. We got like 10 different accounts that follow me. Remember all these? Well, I mean, are we the one to the account?
Speaker 3Oh so, by the way, I just want to throw this out here For the people that keep asking no, I'm not at Sparkles today. I don't know, I don't know why everybody keeps thinking I'm at Sparkles today, but no, I'm not at Sparkles today. I don't know who's at Sparkles today. I know you're not because you got Marquise Lamp tonight, but um, yeah, I don't so who's going to be at Sparkles tonight? No idea. That's unfortunate.
Speaker 3Y'all need to go on Google, find Sparkles Family Fun Center and Gwinnett, call up there and be like, hey, who is the DJ tonight? That's what you got to do. If they did that every weekend. They would like they might block everybody every weekend. They would like they might block everybody. They probably will. But hey, they got.
Speaker 2I mean the people trying to know, people trying to know, I don't know I disappeared here.
Speaker 1Look, say how it did. Who, uh yeah, who we got in the building. Go ahead, devin, shout them folks out, man.
Speaker 3Who is uh? Yeah, you on it.
Speaker 1Who we got in here man.
Speaker 3Well, right now we done had like a bunch of people because I can't do it. Boom girl came through Like what that's Roshanna's sister. You know what's crazy.
Speaker 1Devin, I was slamming this part, devin. Did you know that was?
Speaker 3Roshanna's sister. I swear for the longest, longest no. And I told her this when I finally like actually talked to her, like I like mean this in a no, and I had this conversation where I was like I mean this in like the non weirdest way ever. I've been watching you but I've been like you look like somebody and like I would ask all the like employees like she looks like Roshanna, like she looks really like Roshanna, she looks really like Roshanna. And then I had a. The last conversation I had was with Abraham. Shout out to Abraham, he was on here, but he was. I was like, hey, that girl looks like Roshanna. He's like, yeah, that's her sister.
Speaker 2I was like yeah, that's how that works.
Speaker 3Yeah, what I did yeah. I knew her when she couldn't skate at all. She was just when she was starting out, which is hilarious, because Roshanna's been there way longer, but it didn't pick up nothing. Nothing, shoot, it didn't pick up nothing, thank you. So, yeah, appreciate everybody for checking in. Podcast turn up tanaka. Uh, jitterbug aka devin. Um, look, it looked like I had a whole bunch of stuff to talk about, but wait, are you, are you? Uh, are you busy?
Speaker 3I forgot to send that last joint oh my jesus christ, oh my god, wait, send the last. What the last bar joint? Wait, I thought you. Oh, he only got two.
Speaker 1I sent him. No, it's a mess. This whole 2-1 thing had me all confused.
Speaker 3Well, yes, I already sent him two, so I sent you three.
Speaker 1but one of those is his, so I had to send you one more. But I had to send you one more.
Speaker 3But I didn't send you the one. You're working harder, not smarter. You should have just sent him one. Yeah, you didn't confuse that. I'm so confused.
Speaker 1That's why I'm confused, bro. How are you confused? You know what I'm saying. Because I usually only send him three. Yes, you're not sending but I had already sent you the three oh jesus christ.
Speaker 3Okay, so what was?
Speaker 1he gonna do two, no, I. So then I sent him the three, but I didn't send you the one more why didn't you just send him one?
Speaker 3why are you sending three more?
Speaker 1no, no, no, no, the ones that you talked about, the two that you sent, and plus my one I sent to him because you told me to send it to him.
Speaker 3So you only sent him the two.
Speaker 1I sent him the three, all of his, all of his. But I only sent you two, because one of yours is his.
Speaker 3Exactly why did you have to subtract one of mine to give to him?
Speaker 1Because you told me to send you one of Devin's, and that's what I did.
Speaker 3You see how folks just working, just working like bro, bro, like devon, just just think about this right, I'm supposed to get three, you're supposed to get three, he's supposed to get three. I already have my three. I'm like hey, tanaka, can you send devon one more? He's like you know what, I'm gonna cut one from yours, I'm gonna send it to you, and then I'm gonna see cut one from yours, I'm going to send it to you, and then I'm going to send you one more, devin. What's this?
Speaker 1Because the one that I meant to send for him was in there.
Speaker 3So why don't you just send another one? Just send another one.
Speaker 1But then you asked me.
Speaker 3That's what he was doing, because I'm saying he's cutting one from mine and then sending. But that's what I'm saying. Why are you cutting? Just send you one, I already have three.
Speaker 2Let me just do the one that I already have. You need to inhale and exhale Jesus Christ.
Speaker 1Everybody needs to just inhale and exhale Too much naka See.
Speaker 3Shout out to the IC Queens Just too much. I could have just did one of Devin's. I don't care, it's a mess man, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1Well, while he's, trying to figure his Welcome to the TNT Podcast. Alright, that's it, man. We're done, though.
Speaker 2Welcome to the TNT Podcast.
Speaker 1We'd like to welcome everybody. My name is DJ Tunaq. Alongside DJ Turnover, We've got a special guest in the building. My name is Devin. Devin, aka Jitterbug, is in the spot, man, you can't make me one of a kind Jitterbug. How you been man, it's been a minute.
Speaker 3Right man. You got the people like, oh, where did Devin come from?
Speaker 1I had no idea.
Speaker 3Girl, I've been trying to be out the mess. I'm not going to lie, I've been trying to I didn't even know that you moved.
Speaker 1I knew that you had quit Sparkles and all that, but I was unaware that you actually moved out of the state. You know what I'm saying Because I wasn't seen around skating like that. You know game like that. You know so well.
Speaker 3I'm well like I was working at sparkles, like when I was like 17, right so like when I like quit sparkles, I went to a new job. Then I turned 18, I was trying to be grown adult and everything, so I had to get out of georgia. That's gonna work.
Speaker 1So you left georgia, and where did you? Where did you? Where did we move? To oklah City, oklahoma City, and this is the old stomping grounds.
Speaker 3And where is that it's above Texas, right above Texas. I was born in Oklahoma City, so it ain't nothing, but I know it's like Wildebeest and whatever the case may be.
Speaker 1Oh is it.
Speaker 3I didn't know nothing about that. It's like Buffalo, but like not ground from the city Got you.
Speaker 1So we were talking off air and I was asking Jitterbug. I said, okay, every state you know is different with the skate scene, so go ahead and break it down for us. How is it out there in oklahoma skating wise man? What's happening?
Speaker 3the skate scene is like trash. It's not like I'm like I'm not. I'm not no hater. I know everybody like gotta start from somewhere. However. However, come on though.
Speaker 1So break it down for the people that don't know what type of styles do you be seeing out there?
Speaker 3So okay, I'm going to just do a comparative draft. In Atlanta they got JB House Snap, atl riding, slow Set all that. They got everything. They don't do barely anything. People like I backpack, solo, backpack by myself. They look at me like I'm crazy. I might ATL step a little bit. They look at me like how does he even know how to do that? Come on now. And I really don't even do nothing. I'm like how does he even know how to do that? Come on now, I really don't even do nothing. So what styles are out there? Are there any styles of skating out there? It's like either they're learning or they think that they're just good because they need to go over there too. That's another thing. But they be doing JB snapping and stuff like that. But then it's like the DJs also be terrible. The DJs are so bad there's not one that you can shout out no, oh damn Damn Zero.
Speaker 1No, I'm not going to lie, there's not one that you can shout out no, oh damn damn zero. No, I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 2I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 3I remember one time they tried to bring some dude from Houston. He was just as bad. I was like what's what's going on.
Speaker 3Well, I will say this for people that and I'm gonna just reel it out real quick for people that be trying to fly people out it usually be like folks that have nothing to do with a skating rink, and I'm gonna just reel it out real quick for people that be trying to fly people out, it usually be like folks that have nothing to do with a skating rink and I will tell you this you will get like, no matter what type of shit you on, you got this kind of cloud. You got that kind of cloud. You got this many followers. You can't just come to a skating rink and think you're just gonna be big shit, cuz they will boo you out skating that's what I should have been.
Speaker 3That's what I should have done every single time I go out there. I'm sick of them. They barely be taking requests too, if you want to take a request, and then you got to fill them up with requests because they probably may not even hear. The session is three hours, by the way. The session is three hours.
Speaker 1Three hour session. I was having this conversation with Devin. I was like because I keep hearing this right, alabama folk, man, dj's ass, knock. You don't understand. Florida knocking, you don't understand, like dj's ass. And I'm just like it can't be that bad. It really can't be that bad. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 3like all the way like atlanta, can't be like the only place they have like okay, I'll say this I some, okay some of the djs in atlanta.
Speaker 3To me they don't even compare to y'all, but they're still good, right, they still know how to dj in a skating right. Like they can't. Like it'd be sporadic, slow set, sometimes be 10 minutes, other times it'd be short as hell, so like you can't even really be like doing nothing, and then you're just like you don't even want to just go to the skate rink, you just want to just go outside, like to a park or something, then just skate around, so it's that bad to the point that you don't even want to go to the rink.
Speaker 1Look, you probably just plug up the headphones and just do your own thing.
Speaker 3So In Atlanta I would skate Friday, saturday, sunday and then Monday, and then I would probably skate Wednesday, just to practice. I skate probably like once or twice every Sunday of every month. Damn, that's funny, because they only have adult skate once, like like once a week on, like the first second. It's not even at the same skating, remind you, not. No, it's like each each skating rink, so they all just share a, uh, an adult skate and it's all different.
Speaker 2Yeah each sunday you have to go to the skate, so this Sunday we'll be at the skate-o.
Speaker 1That's the bubble fuck. Next week we'll be at Alright rollers join us.
Speaker 3We're all going. Yeah, that would piss me off, I'm not going to lie.
Speaker 1That would piss me off.
Speaker 3So on the first and the third week I've got to go to Midwest City Starscape Starscape. On the second Sunday I got to go to Southskate and on the last Sunday I got to go to Skate Galaxy. But I don't like Skate Galaxy. I've heard of Skate Galaxy. Their floor is terrible. Their floor is terrible. It's three different colors and it's bumpy.
Speaker 1So break it down how many different rinks are in Oklahoma. Four, four rinks. And if you were, to what happened to the?
Speaker 3fourth no I miscounted.
Speaker 2Oh, okay, so break it down for us, the order in which ranks you enjoy in Oklahoma Well it sounds like you like any of them. I like to skate outside. Parking lot one. Parking lot two.
Speaker 3Oh damn, they're not even two. Okay, so three. God damn, because it's actually an outside skating rink. That's the fourth skating. The fourth skater? Oh, they have an outside, yes, if they have an outside skater. But that skater ring they only have a dj, like twice a month, and then the dj don't even play skating, they just play with like I don't even know, like I'm like a lot, you're playing bullshit, yikes. And then when they're not there, it just be just nobody there. So you gotta bring headphones or like a stereo, which is cool, but like all the time like what did like right.
Speaker 3And then y'all do, you have a dj.
Speaker 1It's like just as bad so this is to let y'all know, you guys are spoiled, spoiled in atlanta spoiled.
Speaker 3right, I don't sounds like One story short, it just sounds like you're spoiled.
Speaker 1You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3Right, because look in.
Speaker 1Atlanta, you can literally skate every day of the week.
Speaker 3Literally every day of the week I was With multiple options sometimes.
Speaker 2I was Multiple options Right.
Speaker 3If I kid you not, if I was here for Track track fever, I probably would have went to Sparkles on Sunday and then went right to. Stone Mountain. But I will say this Devin is definitely that case of just spoiled because, let's be honest, devin started at Sparkles and he started with me.
Speaker 2So like he gave you my name Jitterbug.
Speaker 3He got his name Jitterbug because he was always just. I don't know if that was before he started smoking weed or something, but you were always just. I was like calm down, jitter Jesus, but yeah, but nah, and then he started branching out. And then he started branching out and then he started looking. He's like, wow, this other stuff sucks. Yeah. Yeah, the thing is just working at Sparkles. It was the best job. It was messy it was.
Speaker 3It was, but, not gonna lie, that was the best job, just because I actually found something that I love to do. And then I made friends who I'm still friends with to this day. So you, so, you, um, so you weren't even skating before you worked at, uh, sparkles. Well, no, I, to be honest, I started skating at Sonic because then you know, they got the uh skating college. Oh cute, and I heard that you were going to get paid more. I guess it was one of that check so I learned how to skate right.
Speaker 3They got me some ugly ass, green and black skates, and I thought I was. This is naive, right? That's great guys.
Speaker 1So how did, how did you end up at sparkly from there, or how did you even discover it?
Speaker 3so you know, after I quit Sonic and then I kept the skates I was skating around at the park and then those skates broke. I just didn't skate for another year after that. Then I started working at Sparkles.
Speaker 1One thing led to another. How did you find?
Speaker 3out about Sparkles. Oh, I was a regular.
Speaker 1I used to go all the time I don't remember you.
Speaker 3Remember back way, way, way was a regular. Oh, seriously, go all the time. I don't remember you. Yeah, like, okay. So remember back like way, way, way before the paint, before they had this paint, but it was all like purple orange and everything else. Yeah, yeah, I was there with Kyra Lyskin. That name sounds familiar. She's Lyskin. I'd have to see her face. You literally know her. Yeah, I probably do. That's my daughter. Yeah, I would have to um because it was me wait a minute is that that girl that would be looking mean, I think that's her.
Speaker 3I think, if that's her, I think I got a picture of her. I got that picture of her on my phone. She always she's like when you come over, you always look so mean, like relax, all right, oh kira. Oh, is it tyra? Well, no, it's kira, but I said it wrong I'm about to say, I swear to god. I thought that was yeah, she works there now she works there yeah, she works there now.
Speaker 3Oh, hell, yeah, she better damn, you really been in my for real kira, that light-skinned girl that uh either work in a cafe or works in, uh, the skate shop. You, you've seen her before, you've seen her before. You literally have, there's no way you haven't seen that girl before.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, okay. So, yeah, she works. Yeah, it's gonna fall a couple times, I don't know why. I'm not gonna keep putting this up, but yeah, she, uh, damn, you really been out the way, you don't know? Yeah, because you've been there for a little minute now no, me, me and Kira, she knew me before I couldn't skate at all.
Speaker 1Right.
Speaker 3But the first style I learned was jamscape.
Speaker 1Yeah, we had to jamscape together.
Speaker 3Yeah, every single jamscape Harassing you.
Speaker 2Oh absolutely. Yes, as we all did.
Speaker 3As they all do. Present time, present time most likely, we'll be harassing you here tomorrow. That's what I'm saying. Present time, it's all good. Well, most likely, don't play with that slow step of course of course not thank you so much.
Speaker 1So okay, um you guys so jitterbug um wait real quick. Oh oh, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. Yeah, go ahead. No, we're not moving on. I want to talk about it.
Speaker 2Let's talk about it, Say it Trisha.
Speaker 3Let's talk about it. There were two things I wanted to bring up.
Speaker 1You know what it did hit me.
Speaker 2I don't remember what he was talking about.
Speaker 3Oh, you know what he's talking about. So I could do the skate shot by myself and it was an adult night and Tanaka I don't know if he would. No, yeah, he was a little sick that day so he was kind of spaced out already. He had came up there. He was like you did everything One adult night mind you.
Speaker 1This is when I came back from my trip, right, look, he probably doesn't know that Let him.
Speaker 3Tell it from his side and you can tell your side, okay, because he don't remember exactly what I'm talking about. The people that didn't hear what's happening right now. Apparently, this is when devin saved tanaka's job as sparkles going at resume. I'm sorry, okay, so I'm working right and, like you know, like back then it was like from like 7 to 12, so it was from 8 to 12. It was from 8 to 12,. Yeah, so he planned it and everything like that. Right, Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3He going to ask me when did we close today? I do remember. I don't know where 11 o'clock came. I do remember this.
Speaker 2I don't know where 11 o'clock came. Oh man, I do remember this.
Speaker 3I don't know where 11 o'clock came, but he was literally, from the start, like breaking down his all, his everything ladies and gentlemen, this last song of the night he was so ready to get out of there too.
Speaker 1I do remember that so, to add further context to this story, I had I'm pretty sure, yeah, I'm pretty sure this, yeah, I'm pretty sure this is when I went to. I went to Miami the night before oh my God, that fucking and I was there.
Speaker 3Oh, I do remember this, yes.
Speaker 1I was there for maybe like how long was that? 14 hours or something Like real short, like not even 24 hours.
Speaker 3It's starting to come back to me now, because you had told me that yeah, just the one where you're at the club, and then they whoo, I got you gotta you gotta go back to the archive to hear that story boy.
Speaker 1That's the club and all that, but anyway, I was home. I don't remember the name of that episode. Basically, I was hung over and I came back to atlanta and I had to dj that night you know what I'm saying. And so I get to spark with one day and then my head is just all over the place. And then, um, I'm over here like damn, like tom's flying, like I'm, I'm like I gotta fit all these music in.
Speaker 2He was trying to get all the songs in.
Speaker 1That's what I'm saying and then Devin, he had kind of rushed the session.
Speaker 2It was an adult night.
Speaker 1They were cussing you out. It's like Tanaka. We closed at midnight. I was like oh shit.
Speaker 2I've been over here rushing through all this work, thinking I ain't had no time man it was only that, because it was an adult night and I did not want you to get cussed out.
Speaker 3I just feel like, oh my God, yeah, you did all right, ladies, and gentlemen.
Speaker 2All right, everybody be like. What, sorry, I'm closer early.
Speaker 1Right, I just got here, you know how they go.
Speaker 2That was a lot. So, Jitterbug.
Speaker 3Thank you, thank, I think so. Yeah, that was a lot, so Jitterbug thank you.
Speaker 1Thank you for saving me, because I ain't gonna lie.
Speaker 3Yeah, they did 7 to 11 now and what's actually funny, I remember I did the first. I remember I did their first 7 to 11. Nobody knew that it was 7 to 11. It was like that first hour the first person didn't come in until like 40 minutes before, and then it was Malik, so like I was playing JV music for him because he was the only one in there. So yeah, 7 to 11 now Pretty much, man. And then there was one other thing. There was one other thing I was going to ask you but I don't remember. So, yeah, I'm going to go back to your questions and stuff.
Speaker 1So what was the first style you learned once you started skating frequently, I guess?
Speaker 3like fast skating. Here it's called jamskate.
Speaker 1Jamskate right.
Speaker 3Yeah, that was my first one. Do they jamskate?
Speaker 1in Oklahoma.
Speaker 3No, no. So when they? Play like that tempo of music? What do they do when?
Speaker 1they play.
Speaker 3I guess it's called like shuffle, shuffle, okay so it's like I know what shuffle skating look like. That's not shuffle skating, I don't know. Shout out to Solo. He actually told me apparently y'all were taught wrong. Apparently, jam skating is like when they do the middle work stuff. Yeah, that's jam skating. Apparently, shuffle skating is when y'all are going around. Even if they do shuffle skate. That's not what they do, is not shuffle?
Speaker 3And when they do play, that, when they do play that they like do fast backwards, and like that's the only thing that, like, I'll give them, like they can go fast backwards. If anything they can go fast backwards, that's pretty much it. They don't. And like I'm not even all that good, like I'm well, no, I'm just here, I'm just like but, like but you know like I know, but I know like there's people that, like you know, that escape much better, better, better, right for y'all looking at me like I'm just right, I'm just.
Speaker 1Well, it's probably not that.
Speaker 3It's probably just because it's different. They've never seen it before. Some be scowling at me yeah. They be trying to figure out.
Speaker 1Yeah, so, being that you then came back from Oklahoma, has Sparkles Gwinnett changed since, from when you?
Speaker 3Yeah Well, I don't think he's been back. Hell, he didn't even know Kira was working there, I didn't. So yeah, I gotta see, but like, when's the last time you've?
Speaker 1been back.
Speaker 3I was in Atlanta in June last time I was here. I was here in June yeah, a lot and yeah.
Speaker 1So what did you notice? Everybody don't like each other. Everybody be fake, everybody be and yeah so what did you notice?
Speaker 3Just was there. Like everybody don't like each other, everybody be fake, everybody be da-da-da-da-da-da. Like where's the peace? And like tranquility. Like come on now. Like this is not what skating is supposed to be about. And like, yeah, I know. Like it be getting aggressive. Don't get me wrong, I'm not even.
Speaker 3I'm not shy from y'all right but like we can't have fun, y'all, we can't just roll in the circle, right, okay, nope, nope, see, no, basically, just we all, we all can't just like, just roll in a circle and just like so devin tell us so who?
Speaker 1who are you like? Who are like the folks that you skate with for real, like that? She was that. She was cool, I'm gonna say who I skate with now. Um, slim, slim, okay, shout out to you jakela, jakela, jakela learned how to atl right. I should put you girl jakela jakela they got some swag yeah, jakela got some swag in her like I'll be like she was like learning how to backpack.
Speaker 3So bad, but she could not move that one leg if you don't move that one leg, that one, because, like I don't know what she be doing, but that one leg, he kicked her ass and she finally got it. So, um, cloud, upper heart, uh, that's Sky. Um, who else I skate with? So I tried with my children Lele, kira, naya.
Speaker 1Who else yeah, Lele didn't got good too yeah, lele didn't got good too yeah.
Speaker 3Layla didn't got good. Layla didn't good, she didn't got better, she got much better.
Speaker 1Mello no way no love.
Speaker 2Mello, no love Mello. Love me some Mello, love me some Mello.
Speaker 1I didn't know that she was Mello. Damn, that's so sick.
Speaker 3Yeah, you could work there.
Speaker 1I'm saying man. Mellow hard Mellow man.
Speaker 2If there's any kind of skate battle with Mellow women. I'll put my money on Mellow. I'm going to have it.
Speaker 1Mellow hard.
Speaker 3Yeah, mellow got good too. For sure I rock.
Speaker 1Mellow man yeah.
Speaker 3Mellow, got hard too. Let me ask you this, devin Do you have a skate crew out where you live? A skate crew Like, not skate crew, but like people that like you go to the skate rink or you go out to the skate you know park or whatever? No, you don't got nobody. That you hit up like, hey, we're going skating. Nope, you just skate by yourself, like pretty much.
Speaker 1And is the skate community like? And is the skate community like you pretty much like. I know you're not cool to fall like that, but like you recognize them, like you like.
Speaker 3Oh, that's that's like in Atlanta, no, oh no, they don't have regulars. Well, they have regulars, but like like you know, like it's like you don't really pay no mind to them and then you do like you like you'll keep it. They like you like dirty books and whatever it's like it would like it would just be a lot. That's crazy. Like I know, like I'm like one girl, I don't even want names right she cool.
Speaker 3But like as far as like regulars, it's the same people that go to the same adult skates every other sunday to different skaters all the time Y'all supposed to be a family. I would like to. I would like to. We can't just go in a circle and just roll around, nope.
Speaker 1At all. That's crazy. Nope, that's crazy. I would like to. So, basically, the talent level in Atlanta is way high. Is what I'm getting, yeah.
Speaker 3Well, more so, not even like talent level, because I feel like anybody can like skate. It's not that hard to like do what we do Right, like you got to have your own swag, your own like whatever. Like I'm like again, I'm not all that good, but what makes me a good skater? What makes me mean? Because I skate, like you see, but I was going to say that though, like again, I'm not all that good, but what makes me a good skater?
Speaker 2what makes me mean because I skate like me you see.
Speaker 1But I was gonna say that, though jitterbug is that, look, you skate in atlanta like it's it's regularity. You know what I'm saying. So the talent level may not be the same in oklahoma. That's that diversity that you need.
Speaker 3You can't just look at a video, do it and actually learn it, but then not have your own swag suit. That's how you look stiff Right, right, right, because you can do the steps. Anybody can ATL step Right, anybody can JB. You can learn that easily. But do you genuinely look good Right, or do you just look stiff Right? So, tanaka, are you saying that he's like he's now, since he's moved? He's like a big fish on a small pond. Yeah, pretty much Big, motherfucking kahuna.
Speaker 1You recognize? Yeah, that's basically what I was saying. That's what I was saying.
Speaker 3I don't have skaters who are way better than me trying to downplay me. I said, regardless, we can do the same stuff and I bet you I still eat you up.
Speaker 1I'll figure, I'll figure man. No, I was just I was just saying, man, I was just saying because, like in Atlanta, it's one of those things where, like, if that's like, if that's what you're used to, like the, the type of skill level you know, what. I'm saying, whether it be skaters, whether it be DJs, then I remember, I remember what I was going to ask Then it's like you go to Oklahoma and if they're not on that same type of level then you're just out there shining.
Speaker 3It's like, for example, I tried to teach one girl how to ATL ride. Mind you, I'm just not learning it myself. I'm just kind of like Shout out Juju into the group. Shout out to Juju Into the group chat hey.
Speaker 2Juju. What's going on? Shout out to.
Speaker 3Juju, we get every adult. That's another thing.
Speaker 1Good vibes. Hey, what's?
Speaker 2going on. We ain't just motherfuckers. What's going on? That's my mom and my mama. Another quickers going on. Nails, that's my mom. Another quick shout out.
Speaker 3Auntie Naya, oh, she probably finna call.
Speaker 2She probably finna be here now. Please go get her Go get your nanny. That's funny. What was the question?
Speaker 3I honestly don't even remember what we were talking about, but I do remember what I was going to ask, um, so it was going to be a two-parter because I remember you were going to talk about it anyway. But I remember earlier off air you said that you don't like Cascade. You'd like to talk about why you don't like Cascade. So I went to Casc cascade one time and like I went by myself because like I don't really like mesh well with the whole like skate group, skate crew aesthetic thing, so I skate by myself anyway. So I'm right, by myself, right, and I went in like bitches be like rude for no reason, like I understand, I understand, if I'd be in myself, right, and I went and like bitches, be like rude for no reason, like I understand, I understand, if I'd be in the way or anything like that. Like it'd be like did you just like, try to like do that?
Speaker 3oh man, it's like did you just like am I pushing you or something? Yeah, yeah, like people push you. People like give you dirty. Looks like everybody will, everybody's, so clicked up. Yeah, that's definitely the culture, and cascade yeah, that's yeah, and then they would. But that's the thing, though, at cascade what I noticed because I don't skate, but what I noticed is that that's just their culture and they don't see it as they don't see it as no way, they're just trying to.
Speaker 3They're really just trying to see it more so as like the big shot only because Cascade is more of a. No, that's just it. Cascade is for the tourists. In my fair opinion, you can go to Cascade and see genuine skaters, but if you really want to see that shit, go to Snow.
Speaker 1Mountain.
Speaker 3Well, there you go. Speaking of the tourists, tanaka, would you like to elaborate on your sensational night? Uh, you said you were gonna talk about it, so just say it again cascade yesterday. What? What happened yesterday? You said you were going to talk about it oh man, it was just oh, I don't you look you don't know, yeah.
Speaker 3I'll just say you what I saw, because I wasn't really paying attention and I will say that shout out to um, shout out to Brian, because if it wasn't for him, that's actually how I got into Cascade. Kind of. That was the first time I ever did Cascade was like two or three years ago when I did the Georgia State uh homecoming party, but anyway, so I got to the. I got to the parking lot because I went to go get a shirt from Ron. That's why I actually was there. So he told me to meet him in the parking lot and I got it from him. Well, yeah, that line was stupid. It was like it was like eight. No, it was like nine, it was like 930-.
Speaker 1And that line. That's crazy. I was literally out there.
Speaker 3Yeah, well, no, it was like 9 to like 20. It was like 9 to 20-ish. You were out there then.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3Okay, well, yeah, so that line. It was crazy that line went from literally Cascade you walking in the door to that parking lot, Like to the parking lot, I don't know, but I was out there. Oh, I wasn't, I don't, I wasn't really out there. I went to drive. I went to go find ron. I was like hey, where you at? I just so happened to see him. He was in a car with me. I was like hey, are you in the car?
Speaker 1with me what shirt? What shirt are you?
Speaker 3that um. I love dreamers.
Speaker 1I got another one for some reason there was some blood on, like the last one.
Speaker 3I don't know what happened to it, right that's what's Right?
Speaker 1That's what I'm saying. I'm trying to buy a gangsta with it, man, Anyway. So yeah, I was like yeah.
Speaker 3so I was like yeah, let me get another one. I fuck with the shirt, y'all fuck with Ryan, and I love Dreamers.
Speaker 1Dreamersatl, man. Yeah, you know what?
Speaker 3I'm saying yeah, am you know?
Speaker 1what I'm saying, asking if I was back.
Speaker 3Yes, I am, I am back, he's back. Yeah, well, as you can see, um better get him before he leaves, but uh, he'll be here all week. He'll be here all week, tanaka, or yeah no, it was just.
Speaker 1You know. I mean I expected it, but it was like somebody I literally just seen because I posted recap or whatever, and somebody had reposted a joint and they're like the amount of people that was following. It was like World War 3 out there, like you know what I'm saying, because that joint was I ain't gonna cap and it was like train wreck, like it'd be like one person to put five people down. You know what I'm saying. Like it was crazy.
Speaker 3I would've been playing that shit all night.
Speaker 1All night. All night man, you know what I'm saying. It was a lot, it was a lot, it was definitely a lot. I actually bust my ass. You know what I'm saying because these folks, you know what I mean. It was bad man, it was bad bro. I ain't had a wood tax in a minute man, so you know, I was like still a little bruised up.
Speaker 3Oh, it hit the shoulder. Oh, is that what? It is right here. Is this what? This is yeah that's what that is. Oh, shout out to the wood taxers.
Speaker 1You know, out to the wood taxers. No, I ain't never been on one.
Speaker 3Hallelujah, oh, it's coming. Y'all can't find one, it's coming, then what IRS going to come? Find you what IRS going to come find you on camera.
Speaker 2Y'all ain't going to laugh at me dude, I'm telling you, y'all ain't going to laugh at me, I don't care much. I hey, I got. I got like one video out there be stumbling on camera.
Speaker 1That's crazy. That's it. That's crazy. Um so yeah, jitterbug, so okay. So skate culture in oklahoma, so they don't have their own style. There's no oklahoma skate style, I think it would be the shuffle skate the shuffle. I think it would be the Shuffle Skate. The Shuffle Skate, because they do that a lot. Okay, shuffle Skate is their home style. If there were three songs that you were guaranteed to hear at the Oklahoma Sessions, what would they be?
Speaker 3I couldn't tell you, couldn't tell me I couldn't tell you. I'm just hoping, praying, that it meant like, like it really distressed me.
Speaker 3So there's like not a song that you can like. You can guarantee that. Okay. So, like you know you go to Sparkles. You know you're gonna hear who you With and you know you're gonna hear Black Violin. There's not one song that you know is like I'll say Heaven Can Wait. Oh, they like that song, like Michael Jackson, that's it Really Like off the top of my head. Well, it's good to know they do slow sets For like three and a half seconds. Can't even make a full lap around the skating rink. Literally can't make this up. Y'all Can't even slow set by myself, all the way.
Speaker 1Because by the time I am the slow set's over.
Speaker 3So Jitterbug you were able to go to GCO. I went to GCO.
Speaker 2Oh, one time for Sally's check-in I went to GCO Shout out to AJ.
Speaker 3Shout out to y'all yeah. Yeah, I'm saying he ain't been in Sparkles since June. No, I haven't been to GCO in a year. Oh, yeah, no G-Call. Yeah, when was the last G-Call I was at? It was like last year in October. That was the last G-Call I went to. So it's been a year or some change. Alright, man. Well, I guess we gotta add Nigel to the.
Speaker 2You know you gotta have good vibes. You know you have to have good vibes over here.
Speaker 3Oh man Boy we just gonna be cool we might have guests every week. Oh no, it's gonna be every episode. Next year's gonna be every episode Every episode man. I didn't add you to the list, Nigel. I got you. I'll be tuning into that one for sure For sure.
Speaker 1Definitely, man Definitely.
Speaker 3Every complaint is like it. Man tj used to request that song a lot. It's a good song, but like every speech like that's that's not a song I want to hear every time. Yeah, because it's like. I kid you, not every single like like I. Just I remember hearing that song on the album when I first got the album and I was like meh, I didn't appreciate that song until I got older.
Speaker 2So I was like okay, it's cool, I get a dipping song and I can't dip to save my life.
Speaker 3Well, see, that's why the Wood IRS is waiting on you, they waiting on you for that, right there, as soon as you start dipping, boom Gotcha, they got you, they gonna get you. I had to get a whole new phone because I was trying to be cool and do JB. I was trying to be cool and I did some kind of somersault spin in the air and I landed it right on my phone Somersault is crazy.
Speaker 3Somersault spin in the air and I landed it on my phone and broke my phone so I had to get a whole new iPhone. Yeah, somersault is crazy. I be having some bad ones. Y'all just never see them. What's up? I fell and I slid. Yeah, slide is nuts, especially at the speed y'all be going. That's how y'all just getting. I'm being scared to slip. It was so car swish I couldn't man. But yeah, no, oh, I thought uh, sally, I thought your favorite. She said well, for people that they can't see, she said say it is the best slow set song. I thought your favorite. Her favorite song was Nothing but A Number.
Speaker 1She's always asking for that song.
Speaker 3Nope Skin Rihanna.
Speaker 1I don't know, I'm going to talk about that damn song, so do they play Skin out there?
Speaker 2in Oklahoma. I have a video of me yelling.
Speaker 3Why? Hey, by the way, let's talk about it Please. For the people that don't know DJ Atticut, we're going to just talk about it Please. For the people that don't know DJ etiquette, we're going to just talk about this. Right now we're going to have a second separate for DJ talk. Look, I don't know what y'all ingo be when y'all be trying to yell from the floor or the skate floor or wherever y'all be at, but that's one thing you don't do. Don't fucking yell at the DJ, because that's like me. Personally, if you yell at me, I'm like okay, my bad, what song did you want to hear? Oh, you don't want to hear jeezy bet. Now I know what song not to play. Here's now. Look, here's the thing he did, like ask, like he was like hey, what did you want?
Speaker 1and I and I oh, no, well yeah if he did that.
Speaker 3Look, if you're having an open communication with the dj, like over the mic and all that, whatever that's cool, like that's that's whatever that's cool, like that's that's whatever. But if he's in the middle of mixing and you know you ain't talking to him and he just you just like, like that's not going to make it no better. Like, I'm just saying like, and that goes universal. I'm not just talking about skating ring, that's just anywhere. I don't know if I can find the video. If I find that video, I'm going to show y'all. Why are you doing that?
Question of the Day
Speaker 1Tanaka, we got a question of the day. Have you been?
Speaker 3to all the rinks in Georgia. No, I've only been to Cascade.
Speaker 1Star Mountain and Sparco's Glam.
Speaker 3So no glide, no zone, no town, no long. That's interesting. You've never been to Skate long. I feel like that's like close to you, well close to where you used to be. No, what makes what makes a good skate? Yes, nigel, we know. Oh, she says, you know, you're my piece. Her favorite slow song is jam by kevin giggs, because niger's, niger's freak a freaky heavy.
Speaker 1Oh my goodness gracious but yeah, what makes a good skating rink?
Speaker 3Let's talk about it. Question of the day what makes a good skating rink? What does make a good skating rink? I would say like an easy answer would be the people. But that's just like an easy answer.
Speaker 1I would say like I mean every ring kind of has their culture of people.
Speaker 3Yeah, culture of people Don't make them good.
Speaker 1I'm just saying Different flavors of folks.
Speaker 3I know Stone Mountain is serious and it's a lot, but Stone Mountain is serious and it's a lot, but Stone Mountain is more welcoming than Cascade.
Speaker 1I'll say that it's so crazy because my dad said he didn't feel safe at Stone Mountain.
Speaker 3Well we know who we're running through there the Mayans be taking over. The Mayans be going crazy Between that and Golden Glide. So you've never been to Golden Glide. Nope, that is interesting. I wanted to go one time for John Biscuit, but I realized that I was 18 and I couldn't. Yeah, they be age-restricting. You know, they have 25 and up skaters.
Speaker 2Now they got like 30 and up now they got like 30 and up now.
Speaker 3They got like 30 and up. So it's just a bunch of old bitches just skating around. Yeah bro, they can tell y'all young motherfuckers.
Speaker 2It's all good, you'll be good.
Speaker 1Y'all cutting in that lane, y'all be cutting in that lane. Speed racing up.
Speaker 3How about you get like us?
Speaker 1Time is changing. Racing out there, how about you get like us? It's time to change it. They're older man, they can't go as fast they get out the way.
Speaker 3They are getting out the way. That's why they're doing their own.
Speaker 2I honestly don't want to hear that, because I know a couple of old folks that'll beat me in a multitude of races and they did not lose no breath.
Speaker 3I don't want to hear that. That's a slick handful, you know, not everybody's okay, but okay, but it's just like kind of having that's kind of just like having the um like you wouldn't want, no, like you wouldn't be want to be skating with no 12 year olds, right, true, but in that same sentence. I know I can ignore them. They're annoying, don't get me wrong. They're annoying, I know I can ignore them. They're annoying, don't get me wrong.
Speaker 1They're annoying.
Speaker 3No, no, you can't ignore them.
Speaker 1I can't, big Meech, I'm going to check in.
Speaker 3No, I'll definitely call your card on that one. What One time for Big Meech. I'm going to check in, but no, I'm going to call your card on that one because there will be a couple times they'd be in the way, and then you come to me Turn up, make the announcement about the slow skaters on the outside, slow skaters on the inside, I mean so much for ignoring yeah.
Speaker 2I'm like, hey, what's the correct thing to do? Can you please get the DJ and make the announcement that you're looking for going to do the rough way?
Speaker 3before they get kicked in the head. Five minutes before Attention skaters Fast skaters on the outside, slow skaters on the inside.
Speaker 2Thank, you, if you are inexperienced.
Speaker 3I just said five minutes before. That means that's what happened five minutes before.
Speaker 2Well, no, I don't do that, no.
Speaker 3I hear it Because you don't hear it, I do hear it. I used to say it. Yeah, you did. Yeah, you used to say it. Boy, I know y'all don't be listening, boy, I swear I say it like two minutes before they come up.
Speaker 2Like hey, can you say it?
Speaker 3That's Demetrius, your buddy. Yeah, man, big meat.
Speaker 1Demetrius. Anyway, do you want to?
Speaker 3finish this question of the day. Yeah, whatever. Oh yeah, music, thank you. The music okay, yeah, I would say the music, all the music. Okay, yeah, um, because, like, only because, like I feel like, for example, y'all too, I will really give it to y'all, like with all the djs, like y'all have y'all own, like you, like you know us, you know a atl rise session with turn up this plane. You know that's, you know that it's his session. You got your own intro for your Sloan set. Come on now. You know what it is, we know what it is. It just sets the vibe. Come on now. As soon as we hear you are now listening to the sounds of DJ Tanaka or whatever, the thing is you know what time Tanaka or whatever the fuck it is.
Speaker 2You know what time it is. You know what time it is.
Speaker 3But if I go to the skater rink in Oklahoma and I hear that, no, it's not like.
Speaker 1So they don't be having all that, they don't be having these little intros.
Speaker 3They don't even interact with the crowd. It's not no, nothing Like you gave us nothing.
Speaker 1Like you gave us nothing at all Like come on now, I feel that, I feel that, so the floor could be terrible then, yeah, and as long as the music is good.
Speaker 3Well, as long as the music and the people are good, you're good. Well, I don't really care about the people because, I don't really too much care.
Speaker 1Well, let me ask you this Good floor, terrible music, bad floor, great music which one do you take in?
Speaker 3Good floor, terrible music? Yeah, I'm going to need a good floor because Skate Galaxy has a terrible floor. It's like three different colors. It's bumpy as hell. Some parts are slick, Some parts aren't. Do they do that on purpose? I don't know, but I don't find out because I don't stay around. I don't go to that one Out of the four adult nights they have a month go to that one Out of the four adult nights they have a month.
Speaker 3I miss that one on purpose and I probably don't even go to the other ones. But even still, just with the people. I don't worry about the people because I'm me and I can ignore them. And on top of that, if y'all start bothering me, I can fight. You gotta keep peace Tanaka. And on top of that, if y'all start, bothering me.
Speaker 1I can fight. You got to keep your fingers to knock them, did you? Get in any fights as far as Bonet, yeah, a couple. Did you know about this, turner?
Speaker 3I don't pay attention to that. Turner don't be knowing, I don't. Oh no, he knows Like he'll look over and he'll be like oh, that's going on.
Speaker 1He'll be like oh, oh, that's going on. You're like oh, that's going on. Let's see. Yeah, then why? Yeah, why was you out there fighting, man? Y'all couldn't just peacefully talk this out? I?
Speaker 3really be trying to like oh my gosh, like I, like I kid you not, I don't start it, but like you're gonna end it man, yes, like, for example, I had this one guy who I used to work with that sparkle.
Speaker 3You're not gonna say his name because fuck him everything he stands for like he was just like he would like be on some bitch shit. And then when I like, when we like talk about it like face to face man and man type shit, right, it would be a whole completely different thing. And then he, I like, when we like talk about it like face to face, man to man type shit, it would be a whole, completely different thing. And then he lied about it. I done seen screenshots, heard every side of story that there is, so I know you're lying to me and you're still going to lie to my face.
Speaker 2Come on now and I tried to be cool with him. I really did.
Speaker 3I tried to be cool, calm and collected and everything.
Speaker 2Please, please, because I really did try.
Speaker 3I really did try. But, I'll be a part of none of this. Dj Turnup is not a part of any of the shenanigans that happens at Sparkles Gwinnett. I may be there, I'm not. You know what's crazy. The only thing that I can remember, devin, were you there when them two parents got to fight?
Speaker 2Oh, I gotta find the video.
Speaker 1I have the video somewhere.
Speaker 2That's you with the grandma.
Speaker 3The grandma. I'm not gonna lie. For some reason, that's the only fight I can remember, because that grandma wasn't working.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, no she was not setting shit up, she was GIJ yeah.
Speaker 3And that was like they had coffee to break it up because Nia was down there.
Speaker 2She had got pushed.
Speaker 3I was like oh, shoot.
Speaker 2I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 3That's when I had to push Nia to the side and be like hey, Nia, please. I understand that you're trying to stop the fight. Please don't stop the fight, because you got too many people watching you and they're going to want to hop in the fight. Now you got a Royal Rumble that would turn one fight into a 5, 6, 7, 8. That's where my whole bra is, Isn't yeah, Wasn't?
Speaker 2it funny, I saw her wig.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, I definitely remember I saw her wig and she came to the skate shop.
Speaker 1I don't think I heard and I was like bro it was so crazy. It was just two grown people, so they was like they was getting in.
Speaker 2It was like grown people.
Speaker 3It was kids. I got hit in the back of my fucking head. Well, that was the people that I was trying to jump in, but it started with two grown women, and then the grandma tried to come in.
Speaker 1Shut up my time. I know.
Speaker 3I also know how I saw it. It was two little kids. They had got up on the freaking mushroom things. They started arguing and then they started fighting on top of the mushrooms. Then that's when everybody started fighting.
Speaker 2And then the grandma was just overly whooping ass. You probably right, I remember that fight because I was really in the middle of an outing.
Speaker 1Did you hear about why this even took place, what they was arguing about?
Speaker 3I don't know.
Speaker 1I didn't care. You just saw the aftermath of the wig.
Speaker 2I found the wig and I took it to the front. Then the lady came.
Speaker 3I was like I don't know if you're aware, but your wig is at the front, so if you want to get that, you can get that. Did you say it like that? Yeah, I was like. I put her in close I said hey, your wig is at the front.
Speaker 1Well, I'm glad you had enough respect to like yeah, hey, your wig is at the front.
Speaker 3Not like. Attention sparkles gas. If you lost the wig, it is in the front.
Speaker 2You know how bad that would have been after the fight.
Speaker 3If you have lost the wig, please go to the front and get it.
Speaker 2But no, she just left it there. Which was even crazier. It was there for a couple of months. We had that as a memorial, because that grandma whooped ass, she got down and she did not fucking play.
Speaker 3Oh my God. Anyway, to really back in, what were we talking about? Oh, so it's got to be a good floor. So basically, it's just got to have a good floor. The music, really doesn't. No, well, no, the music doesn't matter. I'm not going to lie, I will be better. So good floor and music. People don't really matter, because you can just tune them out. Yeah.

So, ladies and gentlemen, for the people that don't know what you guess the bars is, we send each other some bars and we read them and see if we can, um, see if we can um figure out what the song is, and we rate it on the F scale, which, from five to one, it'd be Fire, ferocious, flat, free to Be Fecal. And yeah, we'll go from there.
Speaker 3Um, well, uh, I'll start it off and, uh, let me see if I can pull it up on. Yeah, I can pull up mine, and then I think I can pull up yours. Let's see, um, I mean, you could, yeah, you could, I can pull up yours, let's see. I still can't look at it yet. What can I look at? Yeah, you can look at it, you can look at it. Oh, yeah, I can pull yours up, okay, so I'm going to start first. We're going to go this way. So we got three. So I'm going to do my first, you're going to do his and then Devin, you're going to end it off. We'll do this three times. So, um, let's see what we got. Oh sorry, let's go back. All right, uh-uh, she know I'm a gangster. Wait, do I gotta read the uh eyelids too?

Well no it's yours, that's what I'm saying, so I gotta read it. Yeah, I guess you read it when it's your turn, but once again, I already had it, so why don't you just come up with another one?
Speaker 2oh, excuse me so wait.
Speaker 3So you sent, you sent one more, that's right. Oh, it's on your computer, got you okay, all right, so next one with some hook, with some hook. Um, trying to remember what did I have? Oh, so I had robot chicken he had trapped in the closet and you had his rendition of not like us. And so the next inductee into the tnt podcast hall of fame is trapped in the closet, which is actually funny, because he was just so sure that it wasn't gonna work right, which is which is hilarious to me but um, so yeah.

Speaker 2You think you can beat Dirty Dan yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3What is it, oh, what makes you think you could be Dirty?
Speaker 1Dan Something like that. Yeah, yeah yeah, why.
Speaker 3So you have no idea what trapped in the closet is um, I know, age is nothing but a number, and that's all I need to know about all. Carol kelly, I don't think, oh, he wrote the song, I guess, but that's a leah. Age ain't nothing but a number.
Speaker 3No, he didn't no that was a leah no, I'm not tripping, I don't remember saying it I blame the woods, I blame the woods, I blame the woods. But anyway, while you're doing that, so for the people that don't know, and to explain to Devin, what's happening right now is we just pick something. It could be anything, it could be a thing, it could be whatever. So here are some examples of some things that are in the tnt podcast hall of fame. Just, it's just some ideas that you can pick from um. As a matter of fact. Hold on, let me see, pull it up, like pull up the instagram on your phone.

There's a lot of people. Oh, you know what's crazy? Yeah, he works there, he works at Sparkles.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 3He skates at Stone Mountain. Oh then I don't. Then I don't know who you're talking about.

Speaker 3That's crazy. He does look, he. You know, I think, if you think with him, without uh, without his glasses, and doesn't have dreads, he does kind of look like chad scambino anyway. So yeah, so what's funny about my uh nomination? The TNT Podcast Hall of Fame, that was his nomination, anyway. So he, he said what. Anyway, as I've been really interrupted like five times, so what's actually interesting about this song? This is probably like one of the only songs that me and Tanaka disagree on Because I actually interesting about this song. This is probably like one of the only songs that me and Tanaka disagree on Because I actually did like this song, but he doesn't like this song. He actually hates this song. Speaker 1You can go to as many Diddy Parties as you want. What do we got? Oh snap, that's crazy. That threw you off huh, yeah, man, if you want to get out of town this way. No, I'm saying you don't have to choose a song.
Speaker 3You can choose whatever you want. Here's some more stuff, some more stuff. Tanaka Town, that's what I'm saying. You can choose whatever you want, so, yeah. So here's some more stuff, some more stuff you can choose. Tanaka Town, that's what this is called.
Speaker 1Yeah, shout out to y'all checking in to Tanaka Town, I'm going to nominate. Have I nominated Braids before?
Speaker 3I feel like you have, yeah, yeah, you definitely have.
Speaker 1Yeah, you definitely have. I remember that. Remember that. Yeah, I feel like I damn I miss my words. Nah, that's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna nominate this color man you're gonna nominate this color.
Speaker 3What is that?
Speaker 1color dying. I wasn't gonna say nothing, but let's say something.
Speaker 3You look like one of the dark. My little ponies from my little pony what I don't know, none about them.
Speaker 2My little pony, my little pony.
Speaker 3My little sister used to make me watch my little pony wear her, so I don't know about half of them. You look like one of them, real dark colored ones. You look like crazy. So wait, this is absolutely not right.
Speaker 2I had people that walked in.
Speaker 1I was like I don't know if it was the lights or something.
Speaker 2I was like oh no, that's just hair you.
Speaker 3I was like I don't know if it was the lights or something I was like, oh no, that's his hair. You're funny, so wait. So what are you nominating? Dying hair? Yeah, yeah, Just dying your hair Died hair. Oh, dyed hair. Okay, got you. So why are we nominating dyed hair?
Speaker 1Because I never thought that I would even experiment and do something like this. But this one is, I'm fine, like it is what I'm saying. I didn't, I didn't realize that. You know, I didn't realize it Like I growing up. I don't know, you just become like basic with it.
Speaker 3You feel me, your hair was much longer than that. That's what I'm saying Well, you know he sell it. You didn't know that he sell it, he sell it.
Speaker 2You can make it bro, I would do it too.
Speaker 3Yeah, shit, I would too If I had it like that. Bundles, right, bundles, bundles on bundles. You never go broke. He getting that bitch wig ready right now.
Speaker 2Oh God.
Speaker 1He got the hair in it already.
Speaker 2I mean, he got the color in it already. Just give him a couple bucks, I promise you're going to have a new win by like what? Next.
Speaker 1June I'm telling you. I'm telling you, but yeah, man Dyed hair, because I don't know. I just feel like I see the appeal of it. I used to be like I don't know, maybe that's like some superstar type joint. That's weird, that's what celebrities do?
Speaker 2Celebrities?
Speaker 1famous people.
Speaker 3But I was celebrities, celebrities, famous people, you know. But I was like. You know what I feel like you dyed your hair once. I dyed my hair twice. Yeah, what color is your head, man?
Speaker 1I had a full-headed ginger, and then another full-headed I feel like no wait, was that you definitely?
Speaker 3yeah, that's what I'm saying. I feel like I yeah yeah, what inspired that then?
Speaker 1so what's?
Speaker 3you man, you know what it's really like like kind of like stereotypical. Me and my mom was like getting into it right, I got into it bad, and so it was just the part I was like fuck it, what's she gonna do? Kick me out because I got my hair. So one day like I wish my mom, who were me, wasn't here I went to my uh homegirl mika's house and I had dyed my hair and everything like that. Got drunk as fuck. Got drunk as fuck, dyed my hair and immediately went to Sparkle right after that.
Speaker 1That's funny.
Speaker 3You was there. You looked at me like I was fucking crazy. I probably did. I probably was like oh, you was like oh what happened to your hair, hello? Is that what I said? To knock?
Speaker 3hello but, um, that's actually funny, I've actually died. You know, it's crazy. I haven't dyed my hair and it had to have been a long time ago and it was like I was like a kid and I think it was because, I think, the reason why I dyed my hair I think we were at the fair or some shit, yeah, but yeah, I don't think I've ever gotten to that, but Shout out to the folks that died of hair, just a different level of artistic expression. Alright, jitterbug, what we got. What are we nominating?
Speaker 1I got to salute to Leah. She's the one that did it. Shout out to Leah. Shout out to Leah. Fatal Attraction Bunny Bouquet Speaking of Fatal Attraction. Shout out to.
Speaker 3Iv shout out to Leah Fatal.
Speaker 1Attraction. You know Bunny Bouquet speaking of Fatal Attraction.
Speaker 3Shout out to Ivana fuck with you. She used to work at Sparkles. That's how we got cool. Shout out to Ivana, yeah. Shout out to her. Shout out to Ivana yeah, she cool people. Cali love yeah. So Jitterbug what we got, what we nominating for, the podcast Hall of Fame yep. Podcast Hall of Fame Yep. I do remember that. I do remember that I nominate me because I'm that motherfucker. Okay, nominating himself, hey.
Speaker 1I'm not mad at that. Shout out to.
Speaker 3Devin. I think he's like the first person to ever do that yeah. We had this podcast for like three, four years now.
Speaker 1I think he's like the first person to ever nominate himself.
Speaker 3I nominate me because I'm the shiznaid. Best thing since sliced bread. All that in a bag of chips and a cookie with a drink. There you go. What else? What else? The underestimated never duplicated. Remember that. Remember that, please.
Speaker 2Yeah, I nominate me.
Speaker 1Shout out to self-love. Shout out to self-love. I love that.
Speaker 3I love it. I love it. We got Rick Ross' Layback versus Diane Hare and Devin, I was a Rick Ross fan. We're going to put it on the Instagram page and y'all going to vote. Y'all vote. When we vote, we'll figure out who will announce it on the next podcast, please, hey.
Speaker 2Hey, if I lose to that.
Speaker 3I don't care about dying hair.
Speaker 1I can dye my hair. No one's giving a fuck about that ball head?
Song of the Day
Speaker 3Oh, jesus Christ. Anyway, let's move on. What do we got next? Song of the day yes, song of the day. Um, so the song of the day is uh, young buck stomp. I know you're probably not familiar with young buck, but we're gonna going to put you on Devin, being that you're a Young Buck. Young.
Speaker 1Buck.
Speaker 3I thought it was like a gospel song. No, not Kirk Franklin. No, not Kirk Franklin. So what's actually interesting about this song is I actually like the intensity of the song and, honestly and truthfully, I might actually end up adding this to my step folder. Have you ever played the song Taffy?
Speaker 1Nah, I should though.
Speaker 3Yeah, I feel like it would mix in with the vibe of the step folder. I just love the intensity of the song. What's actually interesting? At the time I think I was in like the 6th. I had to be in like 6th or 5th grade when the song came out and at the time Young Buck was like my favorite member of g.
Speaker 3Are you familiar with g unit? Do you really know who g unit is? Good lord, I don't know. You don't know. You don't know nobody.
Speaker 3Golly, we gotta put them on, it's all good, don't worry, you know 50 cent is yes, I'm about to say well, don't you ask me. We've been asking you about trapping the clock and everything else. You don't know nothing else. I think he's since like a different time. We're going to hold on to that, hold on to that comment. We're going to talk about that. But yeah, so Young Buck was like my favorite member of G-Unit from and it was a very brief moment, which is actually interesting, because I felt like he was my favorite member for the longest brief moment, which is actually interesting because I felt like he was my favorite member for the longest, but like he was really only my favorite member from, like beg for mercy and stradcastle. After that it was like it was the game all the way till, I don't know, he started fucking up with some of his album. That's another story um the game, but I know you don't know who that is either so don't worry about it, yeah, yeah, I wouldn't expect you to know any of the games, yeah, I mean.
Speaker 3But I mean, look, we're gonna reel it out real quick. Just I was 19. I mean, I knew about all the older folks too. Yeah, I can tell you, like you, um, like you're like a little neo soul, oh, so you're into neo soul, yeah, I so. Yeah, I listen to like old Eric Meyer. Andy Stone, Ooh, Andy Stone, Okay, who else? What's his name? This don't count, but I will go like even further One Time for.
Speaker 1Mario that boy Zayn yeah.
Speaker 3I don't think you met Mario. Yeah, he came on later. Well, let's go ahead and wrap the little now. Wrap this up, but let's go ahead, just don't want to go too far left with this. When I heard the song, I was watching the music video for uh shorty want to ride.
Speaker 3Is that how you first heard the song, too, tanaka yeah, because yes, you know, when the music videos used to have snippets yeah, that was. That was the first time I ever heard it. And at the end of the music video um, yeah, like I said at the end of the short one arrive video, it was a stunt video. It featured young buck and the unit crew performing the song in a dimly lit warehouse, and that's what. That's what I was like. Huh, this song is actually pretty interesting. The song came out when the album came out, which was, like I said, australia Cashville came out August 24th 2004.vin, where were you in 2004? Not even born. Oh, you were still in your dad's house. Yes, I'm going to be back in my dad's house.
Speaker 1Yeah, you had to.
Speaker 3Yeah, I was going to say you had to be 19, because I know my brother's 18, so you 05. Oh, so they were probably getting ready to get down with you. Oh, they probably got it no, no, no, no, august. Huh, so were you in the belly. Yet May, April, or still.
Speaker 3You were somewhere between the nutsack and the belly. Why are you figuring that out? Let's figure that out. It was track 12. It was track 12 on Cashmere. No, no, it was probably like in the process. So they just met. They were probably just like, hey, yeah, hey, you want a netflix and chill, right, it was released under juni and endoscope and the producers was, uh, dj paul and jc jay. Um, so this is the interesting part of this whole. I promise this is like the most interesting part of this whole song, right? So this is the first time and I think this is like probably the first and last time they've ever had two people diss each other on the same song, very interesting song. So initially it was supposed to be a song with young buck and ti, but, um, young buck heard the's verse and he heard that he was kind of sneak distant TI. I mean sneak distant Ludacris, which was like his close friend at the time, one time for AC checking in.
Speaker 1Did.
Speaker 2I see VCR and chill.
Speaker 1You said what it's not AC's thing to do.
Speaker 3VCR and chill is hilarious, it's my good old blockbuster.
Speaker 1Hey, hit up that blockbuster. Hey, bro, you know when you hit a blockbuster with your shorty.
Speaker 3you know it's going to be a good time, but we're going to reel it back in.
Speaker 3I'm sorry. So, yeah, so, anyway. So Young Buck heard TI's verse and, being a good friend of Ludacris, ludacris hear it. And ludacris was like nah, I gotta hop on this song. And so I don't know if it was because he thought the song was hard the beat was hard already and he just wanted to hop on it, or he just was being petty and just heard tia's partner was just like yeah, I gotta, I gotta hop on this, I gotta, I gotta get my side of the story. So, yeah, so when he heard it, he went to jump on it, and when he jumped on it, ti heard the verse. And then TI was like nah, and then he took his verse off. He took his verse off and then the game replaced it, and so on.
Speaker 3The album is the game Ludacris, but there are versions that have TI and Ludacris on it, but they're like mixtape. They're like mixtape versions. That reminds me of like I listen to, like people rap sometimes. Two rappers did that, but it was a joke. It was like they were joking. They were joking, yeah, but like they would diss each other Tokyo Vanity and my Skin Kishin the fact that you know who Tokyo Vanity is. It's nuts Boy talk about a name I haven't. Hold on, okay, hold on. We're going to move on to the song of the day. Song of the day is over. If you want to hear a song that's really intense and gives a 2000s vibe, make sure you listen to Young Bucks the Stomp.
Speaker 2Ludacris TI and all that stuff.
Speaker 3Tokyo Vanity. Yeah, that's crazy. She's the literally hardest one. Oh no, I like Tokyo Vanity. You know what's actually funny? I played her song not too long ago, the song she had with Plyce called Six Flags. I don't know if you ever heard?
Speaker 2Have you ever heard that?
Speaker 3song. No, I've been listening to like her old stuff sometimes. Oh, like you listen to like her like rap stuff, like when she's rapping. Yeah, I got you. You said it was Tokyo Vanity and who.
Speaker 2Light Skin Keisha.
Speaker 3Light Skin Keisha that's a name I haven't heard in a while either.
Speaker 2I got to tell you yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 3I just played her song too. What was it? Treadmill? I think she had a song called Treadmill.
Speaker 1AC says she be struggling to breathe too much.
Speaker 3Who Tokyo Vanity or Light Skin or light-skinned.
Speaker 1Keisha. I'm assuming Tokyo AC you talking about.
Speaker 3Tokyo, or you talking about light-skinned Keisha? I don't know. I know light-skinned Keisha is getting a little chubbier. No she not? That is muscle. That's muscle. You better look at her damn TikTok. She is lifting them bitches, oh okay. Oh yeah, he's talking about Tokyo. Wait, is that like a Does?
Speaker 2she have like asthma or something.
Speaker 3No, she's fat, but she's done a lot of stuff. Tokyo, yes, tokyo, got fat. Well, no Wait, I gotta see this, because I've already known her for being skinny. Tokyo Vanity oh, I'm thinking of Tokyo Jets Okay, so that makes I'm not going to lie, that makes more sense.
Speaker 1I was about to say that's what I'm thinking about. She lost weight, though? Okay, no, I've seen.
Speaker 3Yes, I've seen that. Okay, that's what I'm thinking about. Yeah, my bad.
Speaker 2Dang Tanaka. Why'd you stop me?
Speaker 1I didn't know what she was talking about.
Speaker 3This is the shit, she be be muscle. Okay, that is muscle. Okay, she is in that gym. Shout out to light-skinned Keisha Doing that shit.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3Shout out to light-skinned Keisha doing that shit.
Speaker 1Why didn't I stop you? I didn't know who you was talking about.
Speaker 3I don't know, oh you never heard the Six Flags song with her employees. Okay, yeah, okay, then, never mind, then, never mind. Yeah, that's Tokyo Jets. Wait, you Jets is. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I thought, then again, it is a lot of Tokyo's going around. Tokyo Jet, yeah, tokyo Jet, that's when?
Speaker 1because when you say Tokyo Jet, I mean Tokyo. I just immediately thought of Jets.
Speaker 3I guess everybody want to go to Tokyo or something yeah, I don't know, tanaka, I don't know, I don't know. Yeah, I guess only you can tell us that, but but, yeah, that's the song of the day. Uh, tanaka, what we got for the album today.
Speaker 1We're going to do Pink Friday Roman Reloaded. Which one is?
Speaker 3is that the first album?
Speaker 1The second one Is that the one with Phila and myself. It's called Starships.
Speaker 3It's called Starships.
Speaker 1Have you heard of it? Have you heard of that one?
Speaker 3Yes, I have. Actually, I think I heard it on the radio. I'm not going to lie. People be trying to play Navy Nause. I'm not saying that we should just be up her ass. But let's be real. She be spitting that shit she does. But I ain't gonna lie. She got real hateful in the end of her career. She dropped Bigfoot and I was so confused I don't think I remember Bigfoot.
Speaker 1I don't even think I remember Bigfoot.
Speaker 3It was when Nikki dissed Megan that shit, oh yeah, see, yeah, by that point I don't. They said that Megan wasn't even talking about.
Speaker 1Nicki and his. It's just funny because turn of the yawn emoji what that song is His.
Speaker 3No, just. Anything I'm not going to lie Is no, no, no just anything, I'm not gonna lie, nicki. Minaj after, like 2018, it's just been like like he just just so hateful, like, why, like, why are you so hateful to the next generation, like you're supposed to be? You're?
Speaker 1supposed to be the auntie. I can't wait to dope man.
Speaker 3I kind of feel like she was trying to little girl these new rappers and she couldn't. That was just it, but that's what I'm saying. You should be like the only one that's really like eh, it's like Ice-Fighter. You literally ran the whole 2010s. You should be like Uplifting, not even up. You should be at a point that if somebody does talk about you, people will come to your aid without you having to say anything.
Speaker 1But you know, rap is all about like what? Have you done for me lately yeah.
Speaker 3Even still like, for example, like I like Megan, because like people say that like all she raps about is like pussy and shit, but like no one's ever heard like when she actually like talk about shit.
Speaker 2No, she can actually rap.
Speaker 3Yeah, she can actually rap, for like talk about.
Speaker 1No, she could actually rap, yeah, she can actually rap for real now.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, maybe she said wait right, hold on she said wait, what are you saying, dude?
Speaker 2she said I mean, I'll be listening to her freestyles.
Speaker 3Yeah, she, she, she was doing it?
Speaker 1yeah, I heard that. Uh, was it the fever mixed up like a fever? Yeah, I don't know the album or whatever album. Album tell you. I don't know what it was, classified project, but that that's probably uh, if we talk about.
Speaker 3But I need to listen to the creator's new album that's right.
Speaker 1the album of the day is pink friday when we're loaded. This is the second album from nico minaj. Um, I had bees in the Trap Yep Starships. That was definitely my Stupid Hole, I remember.
Speaker 3That was such a weird song.
Speaker 2She said 2012. I'm at the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3Fuck, you didn't know. Ep, it was called. What?
Speaker 2I was like, why would you say that that was about Lil' Kim? And if you look at her in the face, yeah, if you squint your eyes and tilt your head that shit.
Speaker 1So yeah, um this second project.
Speaker 3I feel like it was straight um check your phone, see if it's still on.
Speaker 1It had her go more into the pop lane, which, you know, at this point. I wasn't mad at it, you know, because Pink Friday had already hinted at, I guess, the pop. That's the one thing I wish Nicki did. I wish that she had came out the gate with just like a straight hip hop album, like her rapping her ass off. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3It wouldn't have sold why not, though, because this was around the time where mixtapes were popping. So they probably felt like, if she was going to come out with that, you might as well just go ahead and make a mixtape. You're not going to just get all hip-hop, especially not out the gate. I'm saying, though, because, like, like, that's what you want, that's not what the masses want that pop joint.
Speaker 1I'm saying like I get the pop.
Speaker 3Shit is what makes the money.
Speaker 1But I'm saying like you could have been, you could have gotten to that eventually, you know.
Speaker 3I'm saying like you know, that's not what, sir I don't know, okay, so let me ask me, ask you this who is somebody that started out hip-hop like a good hip-hop career and then went pop and was able to do the pop stuff?
Speaker 1I'm saying she was such a talented rapper. Though you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3I mean, there's a lot of talented rappers.
Speaker 1But she had that dual like you know what I'm saying, she could sing and all that. So it was just like. It was like damn mother, let's just get, I don't know. I guess that be me or scotty, that's supposed to be, that's supposed to be that you know I'm saying but um, but you know, I don't know man, so what? Because I don't think be me or scotty had all the original beats no, they weren't.
Speaker 3That was her drought.
Speaker 1That's what I'm saying. So it was like we never got like official shit.
Speaker 3No, you probably not. Oh yeah, that joint is folded, bro. That shit is not. You got to have them right next to each other While you're figuring that out. Yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 1But I don't know, man. That's why I like that whole queen rep prom and all that.
Speaker 3I think it goes to her.
Speaker 1I mean, no, that's what I'm saying. I say it goes to her, but I just feel like it's like who else was challenging her, though, like if we talk every every, I mean in the 2010s.
Speaker 3There were different people, but like they didn't live up to anything. I remember iggy tried to like, but no one. But but that's what I'm saying though I'm not taking it seriously like now.
Speaker 1I know you're thinking of like the generation.
Speaker 3Now, like I'm not taking Iggy Azalea seriously, bro, I don't think of the new girls. That's like successfully like them. Daughter You're thinking of, like the generation. Now, that's what.
Speaker 1I'm saying In the 2010s.
Speaker 3I can't think of, but that's what I'm saying. There were people, but nobody lived up.
Speaker 2Nobody was living up to.
Speaker 3Nikki in the 2010s?
Speaker 1I don't care, I kind of forgot. So drop some names, though, off the top of my head. Yeah, off the top 2010s. Who do we have there?
Speaker 3I'll let you Hold on. I'm going to let you finish the album. I'm going to see if I can look it up Because, like I said, Nikki was so white hot in the 2010s nobody could touch her and it was just kind of irrelevant. Nobody cared. But now it's to the point that she's a little older and some of these there are more relevant female rappers now than it was then, which I feel like. That gate was opened up by the City Girls. After the City Girls, then we got all these plethora of girls that have Cardi came before city girls I feel like, yeah, cardi came before them they did yes, you know what?
Speaker 3yeah, they did. But I feel like, but I feel like cardi was more gangster, like like cardi wasn't always talking about pussy and all that shit, like I ain't gonna lie that what I call the thot music came through the City Girls, cardi B had thot music when that song came out. Not even I'll Take your man, I'll Take your man.
Speaker 1Somebody just killed them. Jitterboy just got got Jitterboy down.
Speaker 3Jitterboy just got somebody, they just killed them. And now Jenner boy, jenner boy down. They gonna smash Jenner boy, jenner boy Saturday. Night Trap here at Night. Slow, we'll figure you out later. Yeah, nah, so that gateway of women was opened up by the city girls, like nobody was really. I mean, there were people probably doing that in the 2010s, but I think it wasn't really like. I think cardi, what? Okay, honestly and truthfully, I think nikki is the only the queen of rap, because she's been doing this for so long, for literally over 10 years
Speaker 3ask me personally, the only two people that can really like take her crown for real is cardii and Megan, and I wouldn't say that because Cardi only has one album. Now, granted, that album is fucking legendary and every song on that album See, this is probably what you don't know that album. So when albums like certified, they certify like gold, platinum, like just as an overall group of work, that album every song individually went platinum, like individually, like you can take a song out and it's platinum by itself. You take one song out of nikki minaj's this album. Nothing, every single song did something, but I feel like we chucked it up to a different time period.
Speaker 2Oh no, it probably is a different time period.
Speaker 1It's still an accomplishment.
Speaker 3Definitely you have to listen to bars, because Karni got hard bars and I think Nii got hard bars too. But it takes you a second to understand what Niki is saying for real. For real, because she raps for her. She don't rap for everybody else, she raps for. The only person that she raps for is Niki, because there's no kind of like, if you ask me personally, but with Cardi it's like she she be like really spitting, like I don't know what it is about Cardi. I don't know why I like like her so much, but like she be spitting. And on top of that, with Megan. Megan also has very hard bars and she can play on words very well.
Speaker 1Right.
Speaker 3Like don't get me wrong. Again she has a very good rap. You know what's crazy? I don't know.
Speaker 1So Turn Up let me ask you this Turn Up so if she had came out with a hip hop album, you really don't think it would have sold? No, that's interesting man. No, I don't think it would have. I feel like she was the only hip like female rapper that was, she was the only one.
Speaker 3But like At that time though and I think it's obvious also because like pop was like really popular, then Well, pop's still popular.
Speaker 1It's pop.
Speaker 3Yeah, it's still popular, but like at the time, it was really like going, I don't know. That's an interesting debate If we didn't have starship and super base, she probably would have still been a mixtape rapper yeah but she's good though. Well, she's better than good. Amazing, yeah, like sneaky menage to talk about, but I'm not gonna lie. I kind of want her to write a dish track about me, just so I can say that she has something about me. If she be, I'll. I'm like Nikki. Why would you say?
Speaker 1that she yeah, my Nikki just further leaned into kind of the format that she had in the first album. You know what I'm saying. So the pop got more pop and the hip hop.
Speaker 3Was your love on that one, or was that on the first one?
Speaker 1First one, okay, okay, but she did have a track Champion with Nas Drake and G.
Speaker 3That's probably one of my favorite Nicki songs.
Speaker 1You know what I'm saying. My favorite, nicki song Because she older.
Speaker 3That was after this, yeah, 2014.
Speaker 1This is 2012. Oh no.
Speaker 3Was Massive Attack? Was Massive Attack 2012 on my trip Devin. Thank you, I appreciate you. I appreciate you, I appreciate you so much.
Speaker 2Now I can look up. Look up, come on now, she in with that one Tanaka your thoughts Like a jungle.
Speaker 1That's my album. I appreciate it definitely check out Roman Reloaded you don't like Master of Attack.
Speaker 2You know what I'm saying shout out, nicky what we got next.
Speaker 1So what we got next?
DJ Talk
Speaker 3um. So the dj talk is gonna be interesting. It's gonna be brief because after that we're gonna get into the uh, get into the open topic stuff. But so the dj, the dj song, I mean the dj talk conversation is going to be um, from, actually from this uh joint that I had, uh, since y'all so remember, there was a joint where the guy was like uh for his song requests. He's gonna start, um, what he's gonna start doing. Do you remember that?
Speaker 1uh, tanaka, let me see, yeah, yeah, I don't know bro. Yeah, I know I know Hold on.
Speaker 2I'm trying to see if I can find it.
Speaker 1No nothing, I know nothing. Yes, I know, tanaka, you don't know. No nothing, I know nothing. Let's see, here it goes. Let's try that marijuana. Nope, that's not it. I'm starting a new thing. So when?
Speaker 2it comes to requests. Right now I'm playing Trashman and Sofa. Now some people want 60s. So now my new thing is If you want a request, say it on the mic. If you say it on the mic and the crowd agree. I'll say it.
Speaker 1But if it gets, a boo.
Speaker 2Nah, that's an iPod thing, that's gonna be an iPhone phone. Yeah, that's the new thing. If you don't want to play that song, tell them to tell everyone. Tell everyone the song you want to play. And I'm not trying to play no 60s.
Speaker 1That's what I'm doing anyway.
Speaker 3So, Tanaka, your thoughts.
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean, I get it, you know, because oftentimes people want to make requests and we're the ones that got to carry the burden. But you know, this kind of eliminates that you know.
Speaker 3Would that be something that you would do, please? That would be so fucking funny.
Speaker 2That would be so fucking funny.
Speaker 1Potentially, yeah, potentially, that's something you would think about doing, be so fucking funny. Potentially, yeah, potentially.
Speaker 3That's something you would think about doing. I would think about doing that. Yeah For sure, devin. How would you feel if a DJ told you you requested a song and a DJ was like here, as long as you say it on the mic, I would.
Speaker 3You wouldn't give a fuck, I wouldn't. I got good music. Y'all fuck my playlist. Nah, that's not Taylor Swift and shit, and it's not even the fact that it's specific people. It's just different time calls for different like wrong place, wrong time type deal where we'll be in the slow set and it'll be like, hey, can you play Baby Drill? Or we'll be playing ATL rap music and he'll be like hey, can you play baby drill? Like. Or we'll be playing atl rock music and he's like, hey, can you play tamia, can't get enough of you? Or we'll be doing the wobble dance and it'll be like, hey, can you play fucking? I don't know, I don't know black violin yeah, black violin, yeah, some shit like that.
Speaker 3So well, here's the thing. Like I don't understand, like and I can understand, like it's like you requesting, like understanding, like the request they're gonna get played right then. And there, like I'll ask for a request, like hey, at slow set, can you play this song right? I feel like that makes more sense right but no, y'all just be just walking up on them.
Speaker 2I remember one time it's a video of Turn Up. They put Beyonce on.
Speaker 3I can't wait. I can't wait to hear this?
Speaker 2They had put Beyonce on their phone to click to the sky. Oh, turn Up don't have a freaking thing.
Speaker 3Oh, shout out to Calvin, shout out to Calvin. So that was actually staged. But that was staged. It's funny, funny, it's funny, but it's true, it's funny, but it's true because okay. So this is around the time where beyonce's album had came out and calvin was doing it on all the skating rinks and I was like I can't wait for calvin to come to my joint. And this was actually skate-a-thon and I was like I had called ham because that's what I was dj.
Speaker 3When you shout out dj, ham and I was like I had called Ham because that's who I was DJing with. Shout out to DJ Ham. And I was like, hey, ham, hypothetically, is Calvin going to be at the Hypothetically yeah, hypothetically, hypothetically Like scenario? Just throwing out a quick scenario Would Calvin come to the skate-a-thon, to our session? He was like yeah, I think so. And I was like, hey, ask him about his little Beyonce shit he be doing. Because I got a rebuttal for that, because every time he would do it, the DJs would either ignore him or just start laughing or whatever. And I'd be like, okay, I got something for your ass, I got something, I got something.
Speaker 3That's not shit, I was like turn up. His face was so serious it was all in good fun, but I just thought it would be funny for us to finally have a rebuttal Because you know everybody loves a rebuttal response, because his joint was going viral too. Like he was just in the middle and then like he would have like a horde of people behind him like with the Do it in two yeah so. Tip the DJ yeah so. And I remember I made it at home, I showed Ham Ham started laughing. It was yeah.
Speaker 2Bro, I saw that I was like turn up. Why did you do that?
Speaker 3That was at Skate Along. That was a fun session. Shout out to Skate Along. But no, just like. And also I feel like if you can have fun with the DJ you'll be perfectly okay, no matter what session matter like what session it is, like it can be any session. Like if they see you, like I can see, if they see you, they're going to make sure that, like you got Joneses that you're going to want to listen to, exactly Because there's been a couple of times where I've been standing on a Monday Turner was just randomly DJing up there and then he saw nobody else was here so I was like he was just he got me Same thing with Tanaka.
Speaker 3It's just, you just got to like, be respectful, you know, look, and there do be times like that where so for people that don't know and I feel like we've had this conversation on this podcast before but what most I won't say all DJs, but what most DJs do is if they hear a request, they're not going to just immediately bag it because it just may not be the right time. But at the same time, if you're a reoccurring customer that always comes back and you're not as naggy about the song request, they'll see that you're there and they'll be like oh, when you're to play, oh, you know what, I could probably play it right now just to get a reaction. For example, he probably doesn't remember asking for this song, but I know if I'm in Jamscape and I see Devin, I'll play Baby Boo by Money Long. And who was it? Somebody else, I don't remember, but I know he likes that song, so I'll play the song.
Speaker 3I think that song, so I'll play the song. I think it was city girls. Was city girls, I don't know. I played that song for so long, but yeah, so like just a little shit, like that, like no, it wasn't sweet, wasn't?
Speaker 3sweet I think so. I just remember it was. I just remember it was an up-tempo jams gate ish song. That's the only thing I remember about the song, because I feel like that's like her only up-tempo song girl money law be going through it who broke your girl.
Speaker 2Right? Who broke your heart? Give it up. Who was it?
Speaker 1Sweetie.
Speaker 3Yeah, I just remember it was another girl rapper. Anytime I think of Baby Boo, I think of Jitterbug, because I remember he fucking with that song. I still play it to this day. Yeah, like I said just a brief DJ talk, that song, but, um, I still play to this day. Yeah, but yeah, so, um, that was, you know, like I said, just brief dj talk, um, so this is gonna be the last one. Then we're gonna wrap this up. Yeah, shout out to that too. Um, what was I about to say?
Speaker 3oh so this is gonna be the last topic. Then we're gonna um, do the um, we're gonna do the scheduling and then we're gonna wrap this up. So, devin, what we usually do, um, when we have a guest on the show, is we have a segment called open topic, where this is time for you. If you want to, you don't have to. If you want to, that you could talk about whatever you want to talk about, whether it be good, bad, indifferent, controversial, not controversial. There's something you want to talk about. Get off your chest. Get off your chest.
Speaker 1This is your time. You want to discuss it with TNT?
Speaker 3Right here, Let it rip TNT.
Speaker 1Let it rip.
Speaker 3Is there anything you want to talk about, let's talk about it. Anything, let me think Hold on, I don't want to be messy. Do I want to be messy? Do I want to? Whatever you want to do, I don't know, and this is like I said this, this is not you, don't? We're not forcing you to do it. If you want to do it, are you all right, I'm gonna do it, okay, well, um.
Speaker 3Okay, so many questions. It doesn't have to be a question, it can be whatever you want. I have this thing where it's like I'll be skating and then I don't know, but really maybe you bother me. People will really expect things Be like everybody else, like there's no real like diversity in this community and like that's what leads into like people, like fighting and like doing all that extra shit for no reason, being messy, whatever the case may be Like or just wanting to be like somebody else. Right, like I'm not going to lie, I kind be like or just want to be like somebody else. Right, I'm not gonna lie. I gotta feel like the green team, like be trying to like, be like other people. So let me ask you this when you say the green team because I'm not gonna lie, there are a lot of you've been gone for a while, ever okay, so because there are a lot of green teams now. So I don't know it.
Speaker 3You can talk my sideways and we don't know but, okay but, okay, it's like diverse going like gonna be there. I'm not finna, sit up here and be like they just straight up can't escape, but they be getting like. They be looking like everybody else, like there's no, like the only people that I'll give it to, even though like.
Speaker 1So basically you feel like they don't have an identity.
Speaker 3Yeah, Like the only people I'll really give it to is Ali and Taylor. Well, I'll say this, and I don't know if it's because you've been gone for a while. However, I can see some quote-unquote diversity.
Skate Mafia vs. Diverse Comparison
Speaker 2Yeah, I haven't gone.
Speaker 3Maybe I got a Diversity, and I understand, because at first they were kind of just taking a little bit of skate mafia and trying to find an image and find a way into the skate world. However, I'm not even. That's why I don't do skate groups, because if I'm going to be anybody, I'm going to be me. I'll fuck with skate mafia because at the like, if I'm going to be anybody, I'm going to be me and like, I'll fuck with Skate Mafia Because at the end of the day they do their own stuff outside of Skate Mafia.
Speaker 2So you know like well no, okay, well, hold on, devin. Some are better than others.
Speaker 3Well, no, no, no, not even that, because I mean and you probably don't notice it or you probably didn't notice it because you were so new in the skateboard at the time but, honestly and truthfully, skate mafia was doing the same thing that diverse was doing. That skate mafia was taking a little bit what they were seeing on and it may have been the internet or the people that were just there, taking a little bit and putting it into their, putting it put into their style, just like how you were seeing, but at the time, you probably didn't know that because you were so new and all that stuff. However, I will say this about Diverse just specifically. I will say they are definitely not a lot different, but at the end of the day, I kind of feel like how Devin feels. I feel like everybody doing the same goddamn shit, yeah.
Speaker 3However, I will say this though they do have a different side of. They do have like a different, like side of diverse that most people don't know about, where it's like the girls they have like it's like they have like their own girl team. Do you know the name of their team? Oh yeah, v, it's like v something. Do you know the lady b's, lady v's, lady v's, where they're like just they don't do step, they do like slow walk oh yeah oh, oh, lady, okay, okay, where they're like, just they don't do step, they do like slow walk.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, oh, oh lady, Okay, okay, Now they're like lady, that's different, I fuck with that.
Speaker 3For y'all to have, for y'all to be a team and then like y'all have like a girl team and a boy team, I fuck with that, I fuck with that. Well, it's like anybody that wants to slow up and anybody wants to step, and I guess they have. And I did talk to I forgot what his name is, but I guess he's like the person trying to put everything together. Where he said he is trying to make it diverse, where he's like having different people do different things. Where he said he is trying to get like people, that jb too, he's trying to get like a jb group and then he's trying to get, uh, something else group and then something else. So I don't know, it's um, it's a little okay, like here's the thing I have been.
Speaker 3I have been out of the scene, yeah. So I don't too much know what's like, what's really going on now, but just off of like what you've observed, yeah, just off of what I've observed, like from the last time I was here up until now, like it just looks like everybody's like wanting to do the same thing. For example, everybody ATL rides, flathead, atl rides. Don't get me wrong, atl riding is cool, but everybody got to do it, not even everybody, specifically girls, ladies, y'all don't want to pick that back foot up a little bit. Y'all is going to be just flat foot, just whole section, just whole section. I mean, look, that's a reminder, man.
Speaker 1December 27th, GCo Diverse is throwing the battle of sparkles.
Speaker 3Oh are they? So that way nobody Can call me a hater, cause I'm gonna be real, I'm gonna be real, let's be real, let's talk about it, shout out to them For, like, actually, booking events, I will say that I'm gonna give props To the props to do they do be booking events and like the fact that y'all Can do that obviously y'all aren't going somewhere, right? So like maybe I'm just tripping now, just I just see what I see right, I'm gonna say, I'll allow somebody to say I think right, but period.
Speaker 2Honestly, did you put all that inside?
Speaker 1I will be your stomach and ask you to do something like that right, that's cool as well, so shout out to y'all well, yeah, they made that happen because, uh, what's it they said last year at GCO? They was like, yeah, we admit. You know what I'm saying. They bust our ass in the step battle. You know what I'm saying? I mean they just got started.
Speaker 3I just love how folks get kind of good with something and then they just expect for them to just knock it out the park.
Speaker 1Yeah, so they're like. So now we're going to make this thing Battle sparkles, December GCO, and we're going to see who the best team is.
Speaker 3And, honestly and truthfully, I really Okay. Well, no, let me not say that, because I do see Skate Mafia, but I feel like I see Diverse more than Skate Mafia nowadays. I feel like Skate see mafia got banned. That's what, oh, yeah, true, true what they get bad for. Um, no, I don't think all of them got banned, but it's like I think I think recent brandon or something. Reese brandon, is mason banned because I feel like I don't see him either. He is, I think so I don't know a lot of them.
Speaker 3There's a lot of them that got banned. The people I see is Lele Lele, lejay, aj and Zai. I feel like there are some other people that I'm missing. I may not know their names. I feel like, as a whole, I see Diverse more. I feel like Diverse goes like to other skating rinks more so. Um, skate mafia doesn't really like as a whole like I'll see zion lele at cascade or I'll see lele at skate town, like by herself, um, but as a whole, I really don't see them really doing anything. Diverse seems like they're, I don't know, more into doing so that's so I just oh, I'm so sorry, no, dude, take your time. Like I said, I ain't got to do till well ever. Actually, I can show them whenever I want to, so I'm chilling.
Speaker 1So knock, I didn, I didn't get to ask how you doing man. You alright Tired man. I'm saying tired bro, a little tired, but it's easy. A little tired, it's going to be a long, long night.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, marquee's going out. We'll talk about that schedule, was that it? Is there anything else you want to talk about?
Speaker 1Jitterbug. What did you grow up listening to, man? What type of music you was. You was great at songwriting. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3Someone said like the who put you on to that.
Speaker 1That's what you ate. You had your parents, they would listen to that. Oh, okay.
Speaker 3Not like. Okay, like, for example, my godmom has a restaurant. Before now they just played on a radio or a TV, but before they used to have live bands and shit. Oh, that's fire. I would love that, because that was my kind of music. I just grew up.
Speaker 1What type of restaurant? What type?
Speaker 3of food.
Speaker 1They was serving Soul food. It's got to be Smothered chicken. Aye, aye, aye, Jay you food they were serving Soul food. Okay, it's gotta be Smothered chicken. Aye, aye J. You can't make an assumption, man. That's fire, though you know what some black people do. Yeah, it's gotta be.
Speaker 3Oh, that's right.
Speaker 1So yeah, what's your favorite soul food dish? Jitterbug what's up, man? You all right over there. Jitterbug, what's up, man? You alright over there apparently he's not a multitasker got some bad news he will be stressing me out sometimes, but I found peace, so I just inhale and exhale.
Speaker 3That's all on my mind.
Speaker 1I just feel like everybody should be different. You don't have to be like everybody else inhale and exhale.
Speaker 3But yeah, that's all on my mind. I just feel like everybody should be different. You don't have to be like everybody else. If you don't be in a group, you don't have to be like everybody in your group.
Speaker 1What's your favorite soul food dish Pig feet Favorite soul food side.
Speaker 3No, I'm not, Not pig feet, just fried chicken, but a I like okra, okra.
Speaker 1Okay, let's do it. Let's do it.
Speaker 3Do-do-do-do-do-do. So if you had to pick your top five favorite neo-soul artists, who would they be Top five? Here's what I do no name.
Speaker 1Angie Stone Yo squat, jill Squat Squat. Scott, make sure y'all doing your Jill Squats out here.
Speaker 3Yeah, make sure you doing your Jill Squats out here, man Jill.
Speaker 2Scott and Queen Latifah, queen Latifah, oh wow.
Speaker 3Oh, queen Latifah was that she was rapping Nugget Me Wrong, but she had that little bit of like a uh, a little calm. Uh, I fucked her up. Like, just like that old, like that's hard. I didn't know that about you. Jitterbug. So would you skate to that kind of music or no, you would Like floor tree All that type of shit. Just outside of saying yes, I'm gonna skate today.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, I'm a whole skater player, sometimes, like you, guess you gotta pull it.
Speaker 2So yeah, you gotta, you gotta pull up on um sunaka, this whole sunday you playing that not for you to take that point, that's right where is it?
Speaker 3so no, no, that's fine, though yes, that is hard I'm still trying to learn all like the house stuff and like, oh, jerseys, skating, pivoting and all that, yeah, bitch, I can kind of do. But like, yeah, you're still trying to get it. You know, the pivoting, pivoting is definitely interesting but um, yeah man, look like that's it.
