#18 Roberto Venegas: If You Start Something You Have To Finish It
Show Notes

This week on the World of Sports Performance Podcast we are speaking with Roberto Venegas. Roberto is currently the Head Strength and Rehab Coach at Liga Deportiva Alajuelense in Costa Rica. Previously, he was a Strength and Injury Recovery Coach at Real Betis in Spain. I really appreciate Roberto’s openness throughout the entire episode. The answers he gave were very genuine and personal. A common theme throughout the episode was some of the challenges Roberto faced throughout his career and how he overcame them. We also had a really good discussion on passive and active rehab techniques, which honestly could’ve taken up the whole episode. In this episode we discuss:

  • Moving to the US for college and swimming
  • The importance of the practical, not just the educational, in the S&C / Sports Medicine fields
  • Some of the challenges of living in Spain
  • Passive vs. Active rehab techniques
  • How Roberto received an opportunity with Real Betis and overcoming early challenges there
  • Losing his job due to the pandemic and how Roberto turned that into a positive
  • Life in Costa Rica
