2 Corinthians is a letter written in pain, not after it. Paul invites us into his raw, honest weakness—and inside that weakness, he discovers a hidden strength.  The phrase that ties together his hope amid pain and struggle is this:

“For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Not “strong-strong,” the kind we prefer, but a paradoxical strength that is only available in weakness.
