Cosmic Connections

The Energy Effect

Taylor Wilhelm & Justin Grava Season 1 Episode 2

Everything is energy. Your thoughts, Your feelings, Your interactions. The life we experience is the direct result of energetic frequency.

When you start to tune into nature, you start to understand that you are a co-creator of your reality.  You choose which vibration you exist at.

Together, let's realign your vibrational energy.

[00:09] Taylor Wilhelm: Alright. Hi, guys. Welcome back to Cosmic Connections. We are so, so excited for episode two today, and we're so grateful for those of you tuning in with us as we raise not only our own vibrations, but the vibration of the collective. So welcome and like I said, we're so grateful that you're here.

[00:35] Justin Grava: I'm pumped. All right, Taylor, so how do we want to get started today?

[00:41] Taylor Wilhelm: So last time we talked about kind of an introduction to who we are and what this podcast is going to be about. And today we thought we would start with the concept of spiritual awakening and how energy plays into this and how we are a creator of the energy that we carry forth in our own lives. So I was thinking about starting with spiritual awakening today.

[01:10] Justin Grava: I think that's a great way to start. I know I've been having sort of my own spiritual awakening recently and it's been really exciting. So, yeah, let's pop, let's start off with that.

[01:22] Taylor Wilhelm: Yes. So let me just say first, when we talk about the term spiritual awakening, this is a journey, right? It's nothing, in my opinion. It's not something that's ever done. It's a journey that you choose to go on and you're going to continue to grow and evolve along that journey as you go through life. So spiritual awakening to me means the call to higher consciousness, which leads to personal transformation that might shift our view of the world. Do you have anything you want to add?

[01:58] Justin Grava: Yeah, no. The way it came to me was your perception defines your reality, right? So how you look at what's going on in your life, how you look at people, how you look at yourself, all these things. If you're looking at it in a positive tone, even just that like the base of if you're looking at a positive way, you're going to see positive outcomes. You're going to see positive things in your life because you're grateful for it. If you're in a negative state and a negative tone, like, you're going to see people and you're going to only see the little bad things they do, you're going to only see the bad things going on in the world and then you're going to view that internally as bad on yourself. So it's like a circle process. And so, yeah, I feel like the spiritual awakening is shifting to that positive way and then looking at it even deeper and going higher. And I think that's what Taylor is going to talk to.

[02:48] Taylor Wilhelm: Yeah. So today we're going to kind of talk about energy and how once we get this call to higher consciousness, this can feel so different for each person. But a similarity that I find a lot of my clients is the space of disconnection for a moment and this call that people feel, you know, this is what brought Justin and I together on a deeper level than we realized. We both had our awakening start in a similar year back in 2017. And we didn't realize that that's why we were connecting, because we were both starting to experience that space of disconnect.

[03:26] Justin Grava: Right. And I just remember in 2017, just pulling back from the bars, not wanting to be out, and wanting to just, like, be inside and hang out with the people I wanted to be around. And at the same time, it was like this driving, like, I need to improve, I need to be better. But at that time, I just didn't know where to go. It was like this lost, like, I know it's not right, but what is right?

[03:53] Taylor Wilhelm: Yeah. It's like that little voice knocking. It's like this voice knocking that's like, hey, I think there's more. I think there's something else you should be doing, but you're kind of sitting in the space of, what is this? Where is this voice coming from? How do I process this? This doesn't fit in with my normal life. And that's where Justin and I were. We didn't know why all of a sudden, senior year, on Friday nights, we were sitting inside one of our apartments, cooking dinner and watching documentaries. We didn't know why we were together doing that, but we both were like, okay, well, this is more fun to do this together than it is to do this alone. And our friends were very confused. They're like, why don't you guys want to go out and rage anymore? And we just had found this calling to explore something, but we didn't necessarily know that years later, this same calling would bring us back together as we kind of parallel one another's journeys.

[04:47] Justin Grava: Yeah, that's pretty wild. We didn't really like, we moved different places far away, but both kind of alone at a lot of times, just growing and learning new things and kind of finding ourselves at that same point that we found ourselves now from much different journeys and ways, and just like, hi, I'm so excited to like you. And you just see each other, like, wow, you have grown, like, different, but the same. Yeah, exactly.

[05:19] Taylor Wilhelm: Yeah. So that's why today we're going to start with first just this concept of energy. So, Justin, how would you describe energy to our listeners?

[05:32] Justin Grava: Okay, well, if we want to go back to high school, energy is something that cannot be created or destroyed, right. Basic laws, it's only transferred, right? And so energy, when you think about it, it's just like everything has energy. Once something starts moving, it's that energy. It takes energy from somewhere else. And constantly energy is being transferred through people, through, like, their body. Right. Have you seen those examples where you can become like, a conductor and you can hold the light bulb? Your body has energy flowing through it. So that's on a basic sense, what I feel energy kind of is, especially as I started and you can even.

[06:17] Taylor Wilhelm: Right now guys, you can do this together. So if you want to take your hands to press together, palms against one another, just notice what this feels like for a second. And then I want you to rub the hands together very quickly. Create some friction here. Keep on rubbing. And now I want you to create kind of just bring the fingertips together. Maybe take them just a centimeter apart where they're almost touching, but not quite. Maybe soften the eyes. Do you feel this ball of energy within your hand? So that right there can just show you how we are made of energy, right? That heat, that flow that you felt from one set of fingertips to the other, that is exactly what Justin is talking about.

[07:14] Justin Grava: Wow. It makes it so much more understanding when you actually start rubbing your hands and you just put them really close and you actually feel that. And I had someone else do it where they told me, close your eyes and hold your hands out. And to describe your hands, you can't see them. How are you describing them? What is it that you're feeling? Like when your hands are out and your eyes are closed, you can describe your hands because you feel something flowing through your hands. And that's that energy inside that really.

[07:48] Taylor Wilhelm: Started getting it going builds off of what we talked about last time as far as vibration goes, right? So that vibration is energy, and that's also what we're feeling within our fingertips. So we're going to get into in a later episode what you can do with that energy to heal your body. But first, we want to help you guys understand. I'm going to use an analogy that one of my mentors used with me that really helped me understand what I was going through. Because I think a lot of times when people think spiritual awakening, they think of the end result, right? They think of enlightenment and disconnected community. And then when we start to go through it and we feel a space of disconnect, it can be really confusing because we were like, wait, I thought this was supposed to be this really connected feeling. And so Justin and I both experienced, and we still do sometimes, you know, you're going to ebb and flow in and out of this disconnect because often times when we get that spiritual awakening and it just begins right on the journey, it's a call to higher consciousness. And because time doesn't exist out of this dimension, it literally happens at the blink of an eye. And so our energy change, our energetic level up leveled, right? We shifted energetically and then we feel different. We look in the mirror and we see the same eyes, we see the same body. We look around our home and we see the same house. And then we're living in the same state. And everything to our physical eye looks the same, but we feel like a completely new human. And that can be a very confusing space to operate in because you want to show up as this new person that you feel but it's confusing when you're like, wait, everything I know and do still looks exactly the same. How do I explain this to people who already know me? I can't even explain this energetic thing that just happened. It's a feeling, right? It's not something you can see with the eye, right?

[10:01] Justin Grava: To hear you explain it and then to have like, just recently, like, really started. I mean, I feel like it happened before, but this time as it's happening, I'm almost leveling up again. As I'm aware of what's happening with the energy and the frequency changes. It's like you said, you become this new person doing the same things, but you see them differently. Things that really mattered instantly don't, and it's your habits or things like, I always wanted to play fortnite like a nerd, right? And then it just like it got the point where I would just get mad playing like, I don't like this. Why am I doing it? And things are like, going out was one of them at that time, but just shifts and things and like the movies and shows I used to love to watch, I don't want to do this, I would rather read. I don't know why, but yeah, this.

[10:58] Taylor Wilhelm: New playing field of new activities you're called to and you're confused because you're like, who is this new person wanting to do these things that my old self doesn't resonate with anymore? It can be a very confusing time. So the energy analogy I want to use today is imagine just like we talked about, right? Energy is neither created nor destroyed. And thinking about what Justin said earlier about energy and then how we rubbed our hands together and felt that energy. So you can see how energy is everything, right? So if you imagine your reality right now and imagine a chord coming out of you and a plug into everything you're involved in, every single work group, every single friend group, every single romantic relationship, your house, your car, your family, everything has a chord with a plug, right? The second that one experiences that call to higher consciousness, that energetic shift, imagine all of those plugs being ripped out of every single socket. And as that energetic shift happened, some people and things and activities will come with you because they're also shifting. We're in the same reality, but a lot of things will not come with you. And once you're in this space, this can be very, very confusing because we either do one of two things. We sit in a space of disconnect that we were talking about, this uncomfortable space where we're unplugged from everything we know. And we either wait and have trust, right? Faith and trust is knowing that the universe, God, higher power, whatever that is for you has your back. And that would mean that you sit in discomfort. You sit in that space of self growth to be like I know that new relationships, new job opportunities, new friends are coming and if I'm patient, I'll be able to plug into all these new realities. A mistake a lot of people make is we spend and I this is a huge realization that I've had this year is we are scared of this level up because it's so unknown. So we take those plugs and we try to plug them back into that old reality. But the way that energy works and the way that energetic shifts work is consciousness. Once you level up, you can't go back down. So us trying to plug into that old reality is never going to work. So some people spend their entire lives re plugging in instead of just having faith that what's meant to come with you will and new abundant things are going to come for you to plug into and maybe you bring some of those things and people with you. But a lot of those things and people, we got to leave them unplugged and we got to level up and we got to find that new community and that new level of people that are vibrating at the same place as us so that we can bring that change to humanity and that level up to all of humanity. So that's the analogy that helped me see this differently.

[14:07] Justin Grava: No, I didn't think that's so powerful. It's a different almost perspective of doing the same thing that I did in my life. But I almost took it as like when I got to that point, I didn't know what was going on and things didn't feel right. During the pandemic, two weeks in, I was like, I can't play fortnite anymore, I can't do this. It's just there's got to be something more. I know there's more. And for me, I didn't really know where to start. And so what I did is I started to just attack the things apart of me that I didn't like. What are things that I'm scared to do? What do I want to have set up that I'm not? And so it was like where do you start? Like you start with yourself. And that was what I did and I turned mine into a book. But what it started as is going to the bar because I was socially anxious and I was like, I want to make myself talk to people. And so when I couldn't, I had my laptop and I would just write down the motions, the feelings going on in my head, confidence. Why am I not confident? What are all the different things I've learned and gone through and experiences and what does that taught me?

[15:19] Taylor Wilhelm: For I only sat you sat in that discomfort and you sat in the disconnect and talked to it right, like a friend. It's like when we avoid and suppress with things like fortnite alcohol, that's when that voice is always knocking and we're plugging into that old grid. But what you were doing is you're like, okay, I'm going to sit in this unplugged zone for a moment so that I can get to the root of this, so that I can plug in even better and even higher. And that's what you're doing now. And it's so cool to this podcast. Journey is what we're all always doing, right? This is a new opportunity for community and connection and just journeying, right?

[15:56] Justin Grava: Right. And that journey, I think that's the big part and I want to make sure that's like highlighting it on the eye until very recently, like always new, right? Like it's not about the end goal, it's about the journey. And you always hear those quotes, but it's like truly understanding that it's not when you get somewhere, then I'll be happy and then it'll work. It's like this pursuit of every day you're just growing and learning more and becoming a better part of yourself, right? I think it's really cool is like when you really start leveling up and you find yourself growing and growing and you keep elevating yourself. You go into this almost like trickle down where like what you do and how you're growing, it's like inspiring others to level up and grow.

[16:47] Taylor Wilhelm: And we saw this firsthand with, you know, I have a spiritual mentor that I've been working with for a while and the energetic shift that she has allowed me to make in my life and she supported me on it's, helped me to trickle that down to my clients and friends. And it was interesting because a few weeks ago, justin and I started the podcast. We reconnected started the podcast and caught up with one another's journey. And then within that time I said to him, oh, I'm actually coming to Kansas City again. And we hadn't seen each other in a few years and it happened that we were able to have a few meetings together. And my energy, he felt my vibration. And basically we had kind of had a conversation that that was the connection and feeling that he had been missing in Kansas City was like, we kind of forgot what our energetic interaction felt like. And so by me being there and sharing that time with him, his vibration felt different. And then whenever we left one another, he was able to pass that energy on to someone else. And then he also saw that transition. And so remembering that whatever is flowing through us, whether it's a positive energy or a negative energy, we're always passing that on. And so it's important to look at the source of where those vibrations coming from.

[18:18] Justin Grava: Yeah, it was really wild. You came and there was a bunch of things I was going to start working out. I had my plan, right? I have a river market. So, like, farmers market right next to my house. And I always walk through and like, I'm going to buy and do all this stuff, but I'm just going to keep doing what I buy my stuff at the grocery store. But after Taylor left that next Sunday, I went and bought all the stuff from the farmers market. And when I cooked lunch and dinner with all the different veggies and peppers, and when I ate, it was just like I felt so good. I was just like, wow, like, I'm so glad I did it. And it was like, yeah, you coming? Was just like that little, like, kick in the butt, like, all right, are you going to go do these things that you know you're supposed to and want to do and yeah. The next two weeks kept getting hired on all the meetings I'm on or doing some business calls with people talking. You just see them start to light up as you're just talking with high energy and excitement. And when you're like that, others see it and want to be high energy. And it's just like you said, it just trickles. And like, each person shares with another person, shares with another person. And it's a domino effect.

[19:31] Taylor Wilhelm: Yes. And eventually when enough people reach this state of leveling up, the entire collective will level up. Right. That's the goal, is we're always leveling up as a collective. And all of these things we're talking about, as far as us reconnecting the energy effect, all of these things, it's not luck, right? This is a synchronicity. If you start to tune in and get this hyper awareness to your feelings, your thoughts, your actions, how they all flow together, you'll start to notice the synchronicity and synchronicity. I call it an example for me in my life is I call it being in the flow. When we're in the flow state, we can attract what we want much easier than if we're out of the flow state experiencing resistance. So I'm at a point where I can think Justin, and then Justin, I'll see a text message pop up from him within two minutes or at that exact moment on my phone. That's not luck. That's a synchronicity, because him and I are in a connected state of energy. So when I think of him, that thought goes out to the universe, and he receives it on a subconscious level. So even though we're not actively talking about it, because we're in that same energetic flow, that same frequency, we can communicate like that. And you'll start to notice this in multiple areas of your life when you're in the flow state. And when we talk about flow state, the most important thing to remember is don't be upset when you're not in a flow state, because that is the journey is ebbing and flowing in and out of the flow state. And each time you'll be able to stay if you do these principles and you do these practices and you show up to do the hard things, you'll be able to stay in the flow a little bit longer each time, but it's always going to be a practice we're returning to because of the way society pulled us out of the flow state.

[21:26] Justin Grava: Yeah, the flow state is when you start to hit it. And so for people to kind of understand it's funny, I watched this Disney movie Soul. Have you seen it?

[21:37] Taylor Wilhelm: I haven't.

[21:38] Justin Grava: So it's very cute, but like, the whole ideas, right? Like, you win, like somebody a piano player, you know, is like, really in their music, and they're just they don't know what's going on around them. And it's like completely focused and in the moment and enjoying everything. Like, you're not thinking, you're not worried about anything. Like, nothing is here but, like, you and what you're doing at this moment. And that's like in the movie, they show it in different ways, and it was but that for people are trying to understand. People that play guitar music is a big one. Or you're like sculpting, right? And you're just sitting there.

[22:16] Taylor Wilhelm: So that's why it's like a time, right?

[22:18] Justin Grava: Right. You're having so much fun, like, starts flying, happens as a kid all the time. They're naturally into it because they're not whack. We used to play outside and you'd be building forts and like, you built a fort in 8 hours later, you've been sitting there carving a tree, and.

[22:33] Taylor Wilhelm: You'Re like, oh, yes. And the cool thing is that where we are at on our journey is our work is becoming our flow state. And that's the most beautiful thing, right? We're not like, oh, we have to go to work. We're like, oh, my God, we get to go to work. This is so incredible. And that's what we want to help other people find and establish so that we can really change this world and change the vibration and move the collective. So how I was thinking to wrap up today is how I was thinking to wrap up today would be the idea of flow state. So I want to just kind of summarize this idea around flow state and then kind of introduce what we're going to go into in episode three. Does that sound good? Did you have anything to add before we wrap up?

[23:23] Justin Grava: No, I think the big thing I want people to take away is before we get into Felicia, is just, like, accepting where you are and, like, knowing, like, hey, if you're feeling some different way, that's fine, and like, look at yourself and, like, start looking at those thoughts and questions and what you're feeling and start to work on things. And I think the flow state is a great way to kind of do that and be in that moment of you and being better. So, yeah, let's do it.

[23:55] Taylor Wilhelm: All right. So when you get in the flow state, something that happens. I see this with all my clients, and I saw this with myself for so long, and it's that you get in the flow state and you're so excited, and then this terrifying fear comes over that, oh my gosh, what if I lose this? What happens when I lose this flow state and I'm back in that place of not knowing my passion or not knowing how to get back there? What I invite you to do is remember the two S fear and faith. Fear is false emotions that are not real. Your ego is having that fear voice and your ego saying, ha. What if you lose this slow state? What if you never find it again? That will be terrifying. And you have two choices at this time. You listen to the fear, which is telling you that you might lose it, or you lean into faith and you say, what if I stay here forever? Or what if I can easily find this again? What if I can bring myself right back to this state of being? And so basically, think about the two S, fear and faith. Am I going to let fear control me, or am I going to choose faith and lean in? What if this does work out? What if I do find my passion? What if I do find this flow state again? And when you're out of the flow, when you are in that state of disconnect, coming back into the moment and saying to yourself, what do I love? Raise that vibration. I love nature. I love sunshine, I love water, I love my house, I love my cat. Break that flow. Stop obsessing that you're out of the flow state and go do something that makes you extremely, extremely happy, or go take a shower. Do anything that rocks your vibration and just gives us this new reset and come back to it. Once you've gotten out of that head space and obsession of, why did I lose this?

[25:59] Justin Grava: Yeah, I mean, there's not really much to add to that. I feel like you could feel the passion. You can feel, you know, how much you enjoy what you're talking about. And I think that's so critical. People as you fall out. And I know it happens to me all the time. Where I'll be writing and everything is just coming to me. And the words just like I don't even know where they're coming from in writing or when you're talking about something you're passionate about. But those times when you're alone or I have eight different things I can do to bring it back. Like. Realign with yourself and like. What do you love? Like, what are you passionate about right now? What are the things you enjoy doing? And figure out ways where you can just work on some things to get to those points. Or like, I love to do when I'm stuck instead of sitting there branding my head on the screen. I go for a walk and I.

[26:47] Taylor Wilhelm: Just like a 30 minutes walk of vibration, right?

[26:51] Justin Grava: Just let go. Like don't think about anything and just walk. And then you'll kind of naturally you'll come to this like OK, here's what I'm going to do. And then you walk and you get set and then you walk in and you do it, right?

[27:03] Taylor Wilhelm: All of a sudden you lost that obsession, right? You're not there anymore. And so we're going to challenge you to those two things. Get out of your mind and into your body by going for a walk. And then thing number two, challenge that fear. The second fear knocks and says haha. What if you can't say fear? What if I can? What's the opposite of this? And usually it's so silly because you're like oh, it would be that I crush this or that I succeed, or I get that job, or I win, whatever it is you're trying to do. So start to get in that other state. And as you guys ponder this next week, we'll talk about the law of attraction and how once you understand this energy grid concept, you can start to actually call in exactly what you want. So we're going to talk about that next week and let us know any feedback. Justin, do you have anything else to add?

[27:54] Justin Grava: No, I think that's pretty amazing and I'm really excited to hear next week. I'm learning a lot of this stuff with you guys as we go and it's always exciting to see what Taylor brings up. And yes, I guess to sum up what Taylor said to leave, instead of thinking about what could go wrong, think about what could go right. And I think that's what we will end today with. And thank you so much for joining Taylor.

[28:19] Taylor Wilhelm: Yes, thank you guys so, so much for being here. And we'll close like we did last week by just softening the eye. Let's take a collective breath, sitting up nice and tall with the crown of the head towards the ceiling, softening the jaw and releasing effort at this time, just dropping into the body, maybe getting 1% more comfortable, releasing all effort to be anywhere else or to do anything else. Just starting to follow that breath in through the nose, feeling that whole body expand and then we'll slowly start to exhale. Let's bring one hand to our heart and just starting to connect with a few things that we are grateful for on this day. And as you feel this in your cells and your body, I invite you to take a moment of gratitude for yourself, for showing up, for being a part of the work, for doing the work, and knowing that when we raise our own vibration, we raise the vibration of the collective. So thank you for being here, we're incredibly grateful and we will see you next week.
