this year has been the year of the Lord's empowered world changes, and this month in particular, our focus has been on the sub theme empowered faith and deterred conviction. 00:04:45.293 --> 00:05:42.735 And we are in a season that we are ushering in the revival season here at Parklands Baptist Church, and this coming week, from Monday all the way to Friday, we shall be gathering here every evening, from 5.30 pm to around 8.30 pm, for a concentrated time or a devoted time of the Word of God and prayer, and then, on Sunday, we shall be here once again, and we have lined up our great men and women of the Lord, but, more so, we have set the stage for the Holy Spirit to revive His people. 00:05:42.735 --> 00:05:51.716 And so not only shall you expect to hear from the men and women of God, starting with our senior pastor this coming Monday. 00:05:51.716 --> 00:06:12.403 But above all, I want you to prepare your heart, because the Holy Spirit will be in the house to minister to us and therefore, as we talk about times of revival, I bring to your attention that revival is the work of the Holy Spirit. 00:06:14.648 --> 00:06:20.136 The Holy Spirit is the main or the chief agent of revival. 00:06:20.136 --> 00:06:27.951 There can be no revival without the ministry of the Holy Spirit. 00:06:27.951 --> 00:06:43.415 Yet many times many Christians do not understand, do not associate and do not interact with the ministry of the Holy Spirit. 00:06:43.415 --> 00:07:01.105 If we are going to experience revival, then it has to be that we have engaged and we have been engaged by the Holy Spirit. 00:07:01.105 --> 00:07:08.355 Times of revival are marked by the ministration of the Holy Spirit. 00:07:08.355 --> 00:07:11.326 So when does revival then happen? 00:07:12.067 --> 00:07:21.406 Revival then happens when an individual or a church or a nation number one desires. 00:07:21.406 --> 00:07:24.593 There has to be a desire. 00:07:24.593 --> 00:07:44.745 Not only shall there be a desire, but there should be a preparation, and this preparation then gives room for the Holy Spirit to freely have his way. 00:07:44.745 --> 00:07:49.372 So revival will happen to an individual. 00:07:49.372 --> 00:08:01.154 It can happen to an individual, it can happen to a family, it can happen to a church, revival can happen to a nation. 00:08:01.154 --> 00:08:23.783 But this will happen when individuals first of all desire and my prayer is that you have a desire for the moving, for the touch, for the work, for the manifestation of the Holy Spirit this season. 00:08:25.125 --> 00:08:36.889 I pray that tonight I am speaking not only to individuals but to a church that desires the working and the moving of the Holy Spirit. 00:08:36.889 --> 00:08:51.427 I pray that next week is not going to be an ordinary week, because we are preparing ourselves at the place of prayer, at the place of repentance, at the place of sanctification. 00:08:51.427 --> 00:09:02.307 We are preparing ourselves physically and spiritually and emotionally to engage and to be engaged by the Holy Spirit. 00:09:02.307 --> 00:09:15.590 But let me also note that not only does the Holy Spirit work in certain times, but the Holy Spirit is at work throughout. 00:09:15.590 --> 00:09:25.792 However, many times we may not be aware or sensitive to the working of the Holy Spirit. 00:09:25.792 --> 00:09:42.624 Hence the reason why, then, a church like Parklands Baptist Church has set aside some time that we may focus upon the Holy Spirit for his work and manifestation. 00:09:42.624 --> 00:09:47.773 The Holy Spirit is at work tonight. 00:09:47.773 --> 00:09:51.980 The Holy Spirit is moving in our midst. 00:09:51.980 --> 00:09:54.644 The Holy Spirit is speaking. 00:09:54.644 --> 00:10:10.621 The Holy Spirit desires to speak to us. 00:10:10.621 --> 00:10:25.092 The question is whether we will allow him, whether we will have space and room and focus for him to manifest and to minister in our midst. 00:10:27.096 --> 00:10:29.080 Revival happens when people desire. 00:10:29.080 --> 00:10:32.525 Revival happens when people set aside time. 00:10:32.525 --> 00:10:45.134 And in the passage we have read, the disciples are at a point where the Holy Spirit manifests in their lives. 00:10:45.134 --> 00:11:01.524 The entire chapter from chapter, from verse one of chapter two talks about the engagement of the Holy Spirit in the disciples, and the things that I have mentioned are visible. 00:11:01.524 --> 00:11:14.726 The prerequisites for revival to take place, the prerequisites for the move of the Holy Spirit are very visible among the disciples at this particular time. 00:11:14.726 --> 00:11:30.927 Because chapter two, verse one, tells us that when the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord and they were in one place. 00:11:30.927 --> 00:11:43.450 Now there are three things that the disciples are doing that make room for revival to happen. 00:11:43.450 --> 00:11:53.105 Number one the Bible is telling us that they were in one accord and we will see two of those in this one verse. 00:11:53.105 --> 00:12:00.500 They were in one accord, they were united. 00:12:00.500 --> 00:12:15.128 But number two, they were in one place and, specifically for the disciples, they were in one geographical place. 00:12:15.128 --> 00:12:25.789 But there is a third aspect that you need to see that you will only see it in chapter one, verse four and five. 00:12:26.174 --> 00:12:29.041 Acts, chapter one, verse four and five. 00:12:29.041 --> 00:12:32.086 You will see the third aspect. 00:12:32.086 --> 00:13:04.048 The Bible says again, repeating the same, and being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he had said you have heard from me, for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. 00:13:04.048 --> 00:13:11.447 So there are three things that make for the move of the Holy Spirit to happen. 00:13:11.447 --> 00:13:13.759 Number one is unity. 00:13:13.759 --> 00:13:22.201 They were in one accord, they were together, they were in agreement. 00:13:22.201 --> 00:13:25.903 But number two is environment. 00:13:25.903 --> 00:13:44.308 The Bible talks of a place, but we are not just talking about a place, we are talking about a favorable environment, for the move of the Holy Spirit is a prerequisite for revival. 00:13:44.308 --> 00:13:56.095 They had one understanding, they had created an environment of understanding for them to be in one place. 00:13:56.095 --> 00:14:03.609 Not only were they united, but they also were of one understanding. 00:14:03.609 --> 00:14:28.788 But thirdly, they were in one place, in one accord, but for one purpose, and that's why the Bible tells us in chapter one, verse four and five Jesus told them Go, do not leave Jerusalem until I have released the Holy Spirit. 00:14:28.788 --> 00:14:30.518 So what were they doing? 00:14:30.518 --> 00:14:39.466 In one accord, in one place, they were waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit. 00:14:41.298 --> 00:14:54.134 Revival happens when our people are in unity, when our people are in understanding, when our people are committed to the same cause. 00:14:54.134 --> 00:15:16.265 I pray that Parkland's Baptist Church, that we are going to enter the revival season in unity, that we are going to enter the revival season as one family, that we are going to enter the revival season as one community, that we are going to enter the revival season as one people. 00:15:16.265 --> 00:15:24.134 I pray that in your family, you are going to enter the revival in unity, as a family. 00:15:24.134 --> 00:15:38.115 Come together as a family and therefore there is room to mend fences so that we can enter the place of revival as one people. 00:15:38.115 --> 00:16:05.808 May we not miss that opportunity, because revival will not happen when we are not in one accord, when we are not in one place, in one understanding, in an environment that invites the working of the Holy Spirit, and revival will not happen unless we are committed to receiving the Holy Spirit. 00:16:05.808 --> 00:16:09.115 And so what are the markers? 00:16:09.495 --> 00:16:17.134 Again, this month, our character or focus has been Peter, and we have been talking about Peter all through. 00:16:17.134 --> 00:16:34.009 There are some things that then happen when the Holy Spirit has come that are manifested through the life of Peter or through this event that we have just talked about in chapter 2, verse 14, all the way to 21. 00:16:34.009 --> 00:16:36.158 Something is happening. 00:16:36.158 --> 00:16:43.745 The disciples are together in unity, the disciples are together in one place. 00:16:43.745 --> 00:17:01.904 The disciples are together, united in purpose, and the Bible says in chapter 2, verse 2, that when they were in that kind of environment, the Bible says and suddenly, hallelujah, suddenly. 00:17:01.904 --> 00:17:05.249 Revival is a suddenly moment. 00:17:05.249 --> 00:17:25.115 When the environment is ripe, when we have set the right environment, suddenly, without delaying, revival happens Suddenly, without delaying, suddenly, without hindrance, suddenly, without delay, the Holy Spirit manifests. 00:17:25.115 --> 00:17:36.763 The Bible says that suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house what an experience. 00:17:36.763 --> 00:17:38.607 Where they were sitting. 00:17:38.607 --> 00:17:59.106 And then goes on to say then there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire, and one sat upon each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them. 00:18:01.117 --> 00:18:13.068 Revival does not happen in silence, because when the sudden lease of the Holy Spirit come, it is evident both by ear and by sight. 00:18:13.068 --> 00:18:20.688 People will hear of revival, but people will also see revival. 00:18:20.688 --> 00:18:41.366 The Bible says that suddenly the Holy Spirit, suddenly there was a loud voice there came from heaven, a loud voice like one of rushing mighty wind, and the entire place where they were waiting was filled with this voice. 00:18:41.366 --> 00:18:57.089 But not only did they hear, but they also saw, because there were tongues like fire that descended upon each of the individuals who were there. 00:18:57.089 --> 00:19:09.768 And then the Bible says and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and then they spoke in different tongues as the Holy Spirit enabled them. 00:19:12.297 --> 00:19:26.847 And then it is now at the backdrop of this I want you to see something else that, though there was a loud sound, when revival happens, revival is attractive. 00:19:26.847 --> 00:19:39.528 Revival is loud, revival is visible, but revival is attractive. 00:19:39.528 --> 00:19:50.308 You would expect, if you hear a loud voice and sort of commotion in a place, that people will take off. 00:19:50.308 --> 00:20:05.967 But in this particular passage we are told that there were people in Jerusalem from all over the world and they were attracted and they came to see what is this strange thing that is happening? 00:20:05.967 --> 00:20:17.368 When revival happens in your life, you attract people to the kingdom. 00:20:17.368 --> 00:20:29.515 When revival happens in a church, people are attracted to that church and as they come to that church they are attracted to the kingdom. 00:20:29.515 --> 00:20:44.733 When revival happens in a nation, people are attracted to that nation and as they draw near and associate themselves with that nation, they are drawn to the kingdom. 00:20:45.777 --> 00:20:47.140 I pray in Jesus' name. 00:20:47.140 --> 00:20:50.569 May you be attractive to the people around you. 00:20:50.569 --> 00:20:56.464 In Jesus' mighty name, may Parkland's Baptist Church be attractive to the nation. 00:20:56.464 --> 00:21:05.988 In Jesus' mighty name, because we are in a season of revival, we are in a season of a suddenly. 00:21:05.988 --> 00:21:09.395 We are in a season that we cannot hide. 00:21:09.395 --> 00:21:11.220 It has to be evident. 00:21:41.871 People were attracted, people were amazed, people were attracted to see what is this loud sound that we are hearing? 00:21:41.871 --> 00:21:48.278 And I am here to declare that sound is the sound of revival, it is the sound of us. 00:21:48.417 --> 00:22:01.151 Suddenly, when the Holy Spirit finds an environment that has been set and prepared for Him, he does not delay, he moves in us suddenly. 00:22:01.151 --> 00:22:07.905 And so what happens when that suddenly happens takes place? 00:22:07.905 --> 00:22:10.531 Three things I want to share with us quickly. 00:22:10.531 --> 00:22:14.873 Number one is that there is a boldness to declare. 00:22:14.873 --> 00:22:19.001 In the times of revival there is a boldness. 00:22:19.001 --> 00:22:32.509 There is a boldness that comes with the revival and that boldness is the boldness to stand, it's the boldness to voice. 00:22:34.292 --> 00:22:53.244 The Bible says in verse 14, but, peter, when people came close and they were confused, they were attracted, they did not understand, they were amazed, they were perplexed and they were saying to each other what does this mean? 00:22:53.244 --> 00:23:19.895 Peter comes out, he stands out and he says man of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and heed my words when the suddenly of revival happens, you cannot keep silent. 00:23:19.895 --> 00:23:26.153 You cannot keep silent when the Holy Spirit is moving. 00:23:26.153 --> 00:23:45.891 In a church, the focus is proclamation, and Peter is not focusing on the amazement of the beauty of the Holy Spirit, but focusing on boldly standing and proclaiming. 00:23:45.891 --> 00:23:50.567 I pray that you shall be counted because the Holy Spirit is at work in your life. 00:23:50.567 -->
