Acts, chapter 4. 00:01:31.143 --> 00:01:55.266 This is coming shortly after Peter has been involved in releasing a miracle to somebody who was a cripple, and then, subsequent to that, the Sanhedrin this is the Jewish governing council and also the Supreme Court decide to gather over that matter, and let's hear what transpires. 00:01:55.266 --> 00:01:58.647 Acts, chapter 4, from verse 8. angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in our creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord, and therefore I declare straight on that we are more than conquerors, because death is defeated by Jesus Christ and the grave is actually empty. 00:06:31.180 --> 00:06:51.029 And therefore the early church, the believers, walked with certain convictions, and a primary conviction for the believer, the preacher in the early church, was that the grave was empty and Jesus was alive, and this conviction gave them great boldness and great courage, even when faced by great odds against them. 00:06:51.029 --> 00:07:17.793 Peter, you know, at some point was a coward, but you read the scriptures here, in verse 8, it says Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, rulers and elders of the people, he is addressing the ruling council and he's also addressing what is called the Supreme Court, a very contemptuous group, a very intimidating group, a group that was looking down on them, the same group that tried Jesus. 00:07:17.793 --> 00:07:19.581 But look at Peter now. 00:07:19.581 --> 00:07:25.728 Because of this conviction that Jesus, the grave is empty, because of this conviction that Jesus, the grave is empty, jesus is risen. 00:07:25.728 --> 00:07:50.569 Started after Pentecost, then a miracle happens, acts, chapter 3, verse 6, and now he's continuing with this evangelism and he encounters a group called the Sanhedrin. 00:07:50.569 --> 00:07:54.584 It was a council of 71, there were 70 plus one. 00:07:54.584 --> 00:07:59.954 The one was a high priest, and the quorum for their meetings was 23. 00:07:59.954 --> 00:08:07.045 But this time the meeting was well populated, because this group is threatened, their offices are threatened. 00:08:07.045 --> 00:08:27.101 They are really threatened that somebody else is emerging and a new altar is rising, the altar of all altars that is greater than any other altar, and so they are kind of really disturbed and they all gather and they bring John and they bring Peter, and this is a trial situation. 00:08:27.942 --> 00:08:34.394 Then Peter addresses this group and in verse 11, let me just go back to verse 8. 00:08:34.394 --> 00:08:52.381 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, rulers and elders of the people, if you are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame, remember there was that man in Acts, chapter 3, verse 6, who was lame, and Peter spoke to him and he said, in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, walk. 00:08:52.381 --> 00:08:58.282 And the guy stood up, walked into the temple, jumping, praising God, and the whole know, and our assurances. 00:09:40.240 --> 00:09:52.792 Sometimes we are in family meetings, or we are in board meetings, or we are in school meetings, or we are in places, and we have an opportunity to state a conviction, especially when things are organized contrary to the program of God and the plan of God. 00:09:52.792 --> 00:10:06.015 And I thank God for Peter who states a conviction, and this conviction is based on the fact that Jesus is risen from the dead and no one can take that truth away from him. 00:10:06.015 --> 00:10:09.986 And so I pray that in our discipleship. 00:10:09.986 --> 00:10:13.014 This would be a critical conviction. 00:10:13.014 --> 00:10:15.828 It is a conviction of assured victory. 00:10:15.828 --> 00:10:28.224 Assurance of victory, that means, no matter what you face, even when you face a group that's angry and a group that's opposing you, that victory is going to happen. 00:10:28.224 --> 00:10:38.740 And so I believe Peter, at this point, as he's releasing these words, he's courageous and he's strong because he knows at the end of the day, there is victory. 00:10:39.480 --> 00:10:47.075 Let me declare this week a week of victory in Jesus' name, and let me say that the graves are getting sealed. 00:10:47.075 --> 00:11:09.991 The graves where dreams are buried, the graves where careers are actually buried, the graves where marriages are buried, the graves where your finances have been buried, the graves where your destiny somehow is getting buried have been buried, the graves where your destiny somehow is getting buried and the enemy is scooping the soil and throwing in with the spades, one after the other. 00:11:09.991 --> 00:11:13.485 And I want to decree today that opening of those graves. 00:11:13.485 --> 00:11:19.764 This is can go and confront issues and go to spaces and declare Jesus' risen from the dead and speak in the valley of dry bones, ezekiel, chapter 37. 00:11:45.712 --> 00:11:54.951 And I say this valley of dry bones, verse 1 to 10, I decree and declare it turns from the valley of death to the valley of life. 00:11:54.951 --> 00:12:03.669 And this week that dynamic has been released in Jesus' name, and so Peter is doing exactly that. 00:12:03.669 --> 00:12:22.014 This is a group who are really not believers in the resurrection some of them and he's releasing that dynamic, and he must release that word, and he's saying that Jesus, you crucified, you buried, is now risen and he is alive. 00:12:22.014 --> 00:12:31.086 And so let us celebrate this victory that God has given us through Jesus Christ, the kingdom blueprint for our salvation. 00:12:31.086 --> 00:12:38.750 At the root of it is victory, because the grave is empty and that blueprint, or that plan, is actually Jesus Christ. 00:12:38.750 --> 00:12:41.347 Jesus Christ who conquered death. 00:12:41.347 --> 00:12:45.769 He is alive and he is risen and he is here right now. 00:12:45.769 --> 00:12:52.850 John 10 10 says the thief comes to steal, to kill and to destroy, but Jesus came that he might do what? 00:12:52.850 --> 00:12:56.803 Yeah, we might have life and have it abundantly. 00:12:56.803 --> 00:13:04.226 May God grant you abundant life, abundant life upstairs, in the name of Jesus, and also online abundant life. 00:13:04.226 --> 00:13:09.426 That is why the grave is empty, because life has conquered and victored over death. 00:13:09.426 --> 00:13:25.770 And so I thank God for Peter and I thank God for the centrality of Christology in the first century, that in their messaging, that in their engagement and in their evangelism Jesus was brought center stage. 00:13:25.770 --> 00:13:31.052 And Jesus is a kingdom blueprint for our salvation. 00:13:31.052 --> 00:13:40.168 There is no other God has no plan B except his son, jesus Christ, and I thank God for Jesus. 00:13:40.168 --> 00:13:50.240 And so nothing else will open those graves except Jesus Christ, but number two, except Jesus Christ, but number two, done well. 00:14:16.875 --> 00:14:20.878 Foundation cost and foundations take time. 00:14:20.878 --> 00:14:31.183 Jesus has paid the price for a new beginning, for a new foundation, for somebody to build a new life upon. 00:14:31.183 --> 00:14:37.682 Jesus has paid the price, and the price was very high, because he went to the cross and he died. 00:14:37.682 --> 00:14:41.988 He shed his blood, he was buried and finally he rose from the dead. 00:14:41.988 --> 00:15:03.110 And this foundation is a conviction that Peter also has, and my prayer is this that those lives that have been set on the wrong foundations today, even as I'm preaching, determine to lay your life on the right foundation, and that foundation is our Lord Jesus Christ. 00:15:03.110 --> 00:15:25.434 I'll just read some verses from 1 Peter, chapter 2, verse 4 to 7, just amplifying this thought again the foundation conviction that Jesus Christ is that cornerstone that the builders rejected, but God has chosen it to become the main stone holding the whole entire structure together. 00:15:26.539 --> 00:15:47.048 In the book of 1 Peter, chapter 2, from verse 4, the Bible says "as you come to him, the living stone, rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him, you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices" acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 00:15:47.048 --> 00:15:59.288 For in scripture it says See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame. 00:15:59.288 --> 00:16:07.865 And I want us to say these words Since I trust in Jesus as the cornerstone of my life, I'll never be put to shame. 00:16:07.865 --> 00:16:20.466 I don't know that it's a long statement, but let's try it together, since I gave a long statement, long for me also. 00:16:20.466 --> 00:16:32.395 But hallelujah, since we've put our faith in Jesus Christ and he is the cornerstone, we shall never, never be put to shame. 00:16:32.395 --> 00:16:35.442 You know, he came to his own. 00:16:35.442 --> 00:16:48.335 John 1 verse 12 says the following he came to his own and his own received him not, but to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave them the power to become the children of God. 00:16:48.335 --> 00:17:02.509 There are those who rejected this cornerstone, but thank God, we have an opportunity and we have had an opportunity to lay our lives upon this cornerstone, jesus Christ. 00:17:03.630 --> 00:17:06.154 Money is not a good foundation. 00:17:06.154 --> 00:17:10.267 Education is not strong enough to carry your life. 00:17:10.267 --> 00:17:17.757 A good name and status, all these are possible foundations and there are people holding on to those things. 00:17:17.757 --> 00:17:29.153 Yet they are like shifting sand, and sometimes they're here, sometimes they are not here, and when they are gone somebody gets depressed Because that's all they were holding on to. 00:17:29.153 --> 00:17:39.300 But I suggest to us, like Peter is telling the Sanhedrin, that you, sanhedrin, are not the foundation of the Jewish growth and development. 00:17:39.300 --> 00:17:44.451 There is one who is the foundation, and today I share with you this conviction. 00:17:44.451 --> 00:17:46.624 His name is Jesus Christ. 00:17:46.624 --> 00:17:48.208 You have rejected him. 00:17:48.208 --> 00:18:08.373 But that doesn't change the fact Jesus Christ is a foundation that the young people of Africa actually need, that the children of You don't have to struggle with that. 00:18:51.521 --> 00:18:59.163 We just simply come on to Jesus, get loaded onto Jesus Christ, who is this foundation, and he is able to carry you. 00:18:59.163 --> 00:19:04.433 He's able to carry all the needs and the issues that we may have. 00:19:04.881 --> 00:19:12.674 Matthew 11, verse 28, says come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 00:19:12.674 --> 00:19:22.192 And therefore I'm presenting a foundation and a cornerstone and somebody here, you sense your life has been built on a wrong foundation. 00:19:22.192 --> 00:19:31.215 Today, as I pray, I am inviting you to place your life on that foundation that can never, never be shaken. 00:19:31.215 --> 00:19:35.044 Put your faith in Jesus Christ and your life will tell you, you can have a crack so big you can be seen from outside, and we don't want the devil to see the inside. 00:21:06.580 --> 00:21:09.546 Hallelujah, because a crack is right there. 00:21:09.546 --> 00:21:19.182 If your marriage is built on the wrong foundation, there will be cracks in that bedroom and the devil can see you from outside and you don't want that to happen. Peter tells the Sanhedrin you've missed it. 00:21:39.784 --> 00:21:46.763 There is a foundation I know that you don't know about, and his name is Jesus Christ. 00:21:46.763 --> 00:21:51.473 And in evangelism you introduce Jesus as one who is risen. 00:21:51.473 --> 00:21:59.107 You introduce Jesus as one who somebody can build a new life on and give them a new beginning. 00:21:59.107 --> 00:22:05.313 May I say right now the cross is a statement of God's second chance. 00:22:05.313 --> 00:22:15.050 The cross, the cross, is a statement of God's second chance, and God is able to give And today, as you listen to me preach, you can respond to God's second chance and you come to the cross and you ask for forgiveness and I tell you you will receive a new foundation and you receive over, the Savior has been given and therefore, don't stop the seeking. 00:23:16.124 --> 00:23:25.288 The answer is already here and Jesus is the answer, and Jesus carries salvation and there is no. of conviction and they are bolder as it's going on and he says, finally, salvation is found in no one else. 00:23:53.823 --> 00:24:00.462 He's simply saying this is exclusive salvation, exclusively
