The American Soul
Modern Slavery And The Cost Of Silence
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Evil rarely announces itself; it blends into policy debates, media cycles, and daily habits until victims become invisible. We pull the mask off modern sex trafficking, call it the slavery it is, and ask the uncomfortable question: who benefits when the public looks away? From cartel-driven exploitation to grooming scandals abroad, we connect the dots between criminal markets, political incentives, and the cultural appetite that turns people into products.
We don’t stop at outrage. We ground the conversation in Scripture that speaks to marriage, fidelity, and forgiveness, drawing a straight line from personal virtue to public justice. If the marriage bed is to be honored, then our imaginations must be trained toward loyalty and restraint, not consumption. Forgiveness frees hearts from bitterness, but it never excuses harm; true mercy seeks the good of the vulnerable and demands accountability from the powerful. Along the way, we honor a Medal of Honor recipient and revisit Churchill’s warnings about systems that need a political police to quiet dissent—reminders that liberty with moral limits outperforms enforced equality that breeds misery.
Expect hard questions and practical direction: learn the signs of coercion, support survivor services, back serious action against buyers and cartels, and push for policies that reduce vulnerability rather than import it. Most of all, begin at home. The daily disciplines of self-control, generosity, and prayer shape the kind of citizens who refuse to trade human dignity for ideological comfort. If this conversation moves you, share it with a friend, leave a review, and subscribe so we can keep building a community that chooses courage over silence.

Opening And Prayer
SPEAKER_00Hey folks, this is Jesse Cope. Back with another episode of the American Soul Podcast. Hope y'all are doing well, wherever y'all are, and whatever part of the day you're in. Sure do appreciate you joining me, giving me a little bit of your time and attention, a little piece of your day. Hopefully y'all are getting to listen to it with somebody else. For those of y'all who continue to share the podcast with others, tell others about it, thank you. Excuse me. For those of y'all who continue to pray for me and for the podcast, thank you very much. Very grateful for your prayers, need them and want them. A little under the weather today, so please forgive my sniffles throughout. Father, thank you for today. Thank you for you, Father, and your son Jesus Christ and your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your love and your mercy and your grace and your forgiveness of sins through the merit of your Son Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_01Thank you for the promise, Father, that we can trust you with our soul. That you will bring us safely home. Forgive us when we forget that.
SPEAKER_00Forgive us when we fail to share that comfort and that joy and that hope with others.
SPEAKER_01Forgive us when we get wrapped up in ourselves. Help us to love you with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength. Help us to love our neighbors as ourselves.
SPEAKER_00Be with our leaders here in America and around the world where people are listening. President, Vice President, All Dad, Admirals, Generals, Senators, Representatives, Judges, Governors, be with our military and our law enforcement, firefighters, EMFs, particularly our law enforcement, our ICE officers in America. Be with them, be with their families, comfort them, guide them, protect them, surround them with your angels. Give them wisdom and courage and a strong faith.
SPEAKER_01Help our leaders to rule in fear of you, Father, as opposed to men or women. Help us to store up for ourselves treasures in heaven, not here on earth. Help us to truly care for the widow and the orphan, the poor and the needy. The least of these. To clothe the naked, feed the hungry, visit the sick and those in prison.
SPEAKER_00Forgive us when we fail. And be with those listening, Father, wherever they are, be with their families. Guide 'em and bless 'em. Guide my words here, Father, please.
SPEAKER_01Your son's name we pray. Amen. So this is gonna take a minute. So bear with me. Please.
SPEAKER_00One of the issues that's been on my mind, on my heart, more and more over the last several years has been the trafficking of women and girls. It's uh the sex trade is a modern day slavery. The more you dig into it, the more evil you see. And the more clearly, if you're honest, you see the connection between it, this this slave trade, the sex trade of women and children, and leftism, socialism, communism, that whole bucket of isms, right? Nazism, fascism, and Islam. And it begs the question why so many people support such an obvious evil. One of the tenets in the Marine Corps that they teach us as officers going through the basic school, and really, really all Marines is the need to know your enemy. And for whatever reason, the people that support this evil, they're certainly not allies, folks. And it doesn't matter if it's your neighbor, your cousin, your aunt, your uncle, your brother, sister, mother, father, spouse, they're not your ally, for sure. There's a few men in my life that I trust quite a bit, and they make the argument that the support that we see in Western society, particularly in America, for this evil, for these types of evils, you throw in abortions and others, is from those who are primarily ignorant, brainwashed, misinformed.
SPEAKER_01I suppose that's possible.
SPEAKER_00It would certainly fall in line with Christ's condemnation of the religious leaders in Israel, leading the people astray, or the kings in the Old Testament doing the same, leading Israel astray, fall into the category of those who have eyes but see not, and those who have ears but hear not. But I think at this point, particularly again in America, but really in Western civilization, we have to ask ourselves if there's another reason. What if these people that we know throughout our country, friends, family, co-workers, strangers that support leftism in general, feminism, Islam, which in turn supports something like this modern-day sex trafficking? What if these people aren't ignorant?
Ideologies Linked To Trafficking
SPEAKER_01What if they support it or at least ignore it because it suits their purposes? Or they ignore it because it doesn't openly support their agenda.
Ignorance Or Willful Support
SPEAKER_00For example, a huge focus for the followers of those ideologies for decades has been the supposed racism that exists in America, often painted through the lens of 1800s, slavery. The need that we have, again, supposedly for reparations, or at least to implement DEI, CRT, critical race theory, diversity, equity, inclusion. Basically affirmative action repackage. And yet there's not a single person alive today in America who has been a slave based on the color of their skin, or been a slave holder based on the color of their skin. All the while the sex trade trafficking industry is a very real modern-day slavery. Sex trafficking, the mistreatment of women and girls, is tied very closely both to illegal immigration and mass Muslim immigration. You see, particularly in the UK, these grooming gangs raping young British girls. And you see the sex trade with the coyotes and the drug cartels and the illegal immigration. Both of these, though, the illegal immigration and the mass Muslim immigration serve to import votes for those who support the left and that whole bucket of isms. It would hurt their agenda to focus on the connection to illegal immigration and mass Muslim immigration. Because if they focused on that connection, they would have to either acknowledge that they didn't really care about the women and the girls, that they were okay with those women and girls being abused, or they would have to acknowledge that there is massive, not just a little bit, not just minor, but massive evil that comes with illegal immigration and mass Muslim immigration. I mean, that certainly bears out when you look at abortion. There seems to be no sympathy by the left and their allies for those who support abortion, for the suffering of those children that are ripped apart inside their own mother's womb. So perhaps it's as simple as that. As long as it's not happening to them, correct? As long as they have their right to life, what do they care about those who lose their right to life, who are trafficked over and over again to evil men? At the end of the day, regardless of the reason, the bottom line is that a large chunk of American society openly embraces and supports activities that trap girls and women in years of forced prostitution until their bodies give out and they're thrown away like so much garbage. And I would just ask you to consider seriously if you really think you can peacefully coexist alongside individuals who continuously and knowingly to some degree support that evil, or at the best case, which is still horrible, ignore it complicitly. And again, folks, yes, that includes your family, your friends, your neighbors, and your co-workers who vote for support leftism and Islam Marriage verse for today. Hebrews 13 4. Marriage is to be held and honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled.
SPEAKER_01For fornicators and adulterers, God will judge.
Immigration, Votes, And Complicity
SPEAKER_00If you're out cheating on your spouse, looking at things that you shouldn't look at. It's also impossible to truly be loyal, faithful in your marriage if you're not giving your spouse yourself, your body, as God directs in marriage scripture for today. Go back to Matthew eighteen verse twenty one through nineteen verse twelve. Then Peter came to him and asked, Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times? No, not seven times, Jesus replied, but seventy times seven. Therefore the kingdom of heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date with servants who had borrowed money from him. In the process, one of his debtors was brought in who owed him millions of dollars. He couldn't pay. So his master ordered that he be sold along with his wife, his children, and everything he owned to pay the debt. But the man fell down before his master and begged him, please be patient with me and I will pay it all. Then his master was filled with pity for him, and he released him and forgave his debt. But when the man left the king he went to a fellow servant who owed him a few thousand dollars. He grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment. His fellow servant fell down before him and begged for a little more time, be patient with me and I will pay it, he pleaded. But his creditor wouldn't wait. He had the man arrested and put him in prison until all the debt could be paid in full. When some of the other servants saw this, they were very upset. They went to the king and told him everything that had happened. Then the king called in the man. He had forgiven and said, You evil servant, I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me. Shouldn't you have mercy on your fellow servant just as I had mercy on you? Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt. That's what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart. When Jesus had finished saying these things he left Galilee and went down to the region of Judea east of the Jordan River. Large crowds followed him there and they and he healed their sick. Some Pharisees came and tried to trap him with this question Should a man be allowed to divorce his wife for just any reason? Haven't you read the scriptures? Jesus replied. And he said this explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one, since they are no longer two but one. Let no one split apart what God has joined together. Then why did Moses say in the law that a man could give his wife a written notice of divorce and send her away? They asked. Jesus replied, Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended. And I tell you this, whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery, unless his wife has been unfaithful. Jesus' disciples then said to him, If this is the case, it is better not to marry. Not everyone can accept this statement, Jesus said. Only those whom God helps. Some are born as eunuchs, some have been made eunuchs by others, and some choose not to marry for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let anyone accept this who can. Psalm twenty three verse one through six. The Lord is my shepherd, I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows, he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength, he guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Proverbs five twenty two twenty three. An evil man is held captive by his own sins. They are ropes that catch and hold him. He will die for lack of self control. He will be lost because of his great foolishness. Medal of Honor for today is Edward Brannigan Private Indian Campaigns Fox Company, fourth U. S. Cavalry, US Army, September twenty ninth, eighteen seventy two, Red River, Texas Gallantry and Action Accredited to New York, New York, not awarded posthumously, presented november nineteenth, eighteen seventy two, born eighteen forty six, County Luth, Ireland, buried Fort Concho National Historic Landmark Marker only, San Angelo, Texas. Edward Branagan, what happened to him? Where did he die? He was from Ireland. Served our country well, honorably, gallantly in action, right? Gallantry in action.
SPEAKER_01Edward Branagan.
The Moral Bottom Line
SPEAKER_00So we're gonna run through a few quotes from Churchill. We'll see how many of them we get through. This first group of them is uh from his June 4, 1945 radio broadcast. One of his early election broadcasts for the 1945 general election campaign, I believe, if I have that date right. And these are paraphrased online in a number of different places. But if you want the full speech, there's a book out there, Robert Rhodes, James, uh Winston Churchill, his complete speeches 1897 and 1963. And I think volume seven is the one that you would be looking for. And it might have been 1946. At any rate, here we go. My friends, I must tell you that a socialist policy is abhorrent to British ideas on freedom. There is to be one state to which all are obedient in every act of their lives. This state once in power will prescribe for everyone where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say, what views they are to hold, where their wives are to cue up for the state ration, and what education their children are to receive. And these are just different excerpts from this Churchill speech, folks. A socialist state could not afford to suffer opposition. No socialist state, no socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance. No socialist government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently worded expressions of public discontent. They would again have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance. And this would nip a Opinion in the bud. It would stop criticism as it reared its ugly head, and it would gather all the power to the Supreme Party and the party leaders, rising like stately pinnacles above their vast bureaucracies of civil servants. No longer servants and no longer civil. And where would the ordinary simple folk, the common people as they like to call them in America, where would they be once this mighty organism had got them in its grip? Theoretically, this was delivered, delivered on the BBC radio a little bit after VE Day. You go back and you listen to that, folks, and I think you're going to recognize quite a bit of what the left in America champions today.
Can We Coexist With Evil?
SPEAKER_01It certainly is not liberty or freedom that the left champions. And as I said, those were paraphrases.
SPEAKER_00I'm not looking directly at that broadcast, but here's another couple Churchill quotes. From Perth, Scotland, 28 May 1948. Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy. And then House of Commons, twenty-two October, nineteen forty-five. The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. There's just no possible way to champion socialism, leftism, communism, Nazism, Fascism, or Islam, and at the same time champion liberty. If you are looking for a family-friendly middle-grade fantasy series on the lines of Narnia, The Hobbit, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, hopefully with quite a bit more principles of Jesus Christ interspersed in there than the world secular views and values that we get so often today in kids' education or entertainment. If you would check out the countryside series, and if you enjoyed, if you would leave a review somewhere online, I would appreciate it. That helps immensely. And if you find yourself getting something out of the podcast on a at least somewhat regular basis, if you have five or ten dollars a month, you can donate to the podcast. And if you can leave a review for the podcast on Apple or Spotify or wherever it is that you listen, those help a great deal also.
SPEAKER_01And if you want to listen on YouTube, we post it there now too.
SPEAKER_00Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_00God bless you all. God bless your families. God bless your marriages if you're married. God bless your nation, wherever you are around the world listening. God bless America. We'll talk to you all again real soon, folks. Looking forward to it.
