Betrayal hits different when it comes from someone you once worshiped alongside, and Psalm 55 doesn’t sugarcoat that kind of pain. We start there, then slow down long enough to pray with gratitude for everyday mercies we ignore too easily, and to ask God for wisdom and courage for leaders, families, and marriages. If you’ve felt overwhelmed by the noise, the anger, or the fear, this conversation is built to pull you back to what Scripture actually says to do with it: cry out to the Lord, hand over the burden, and keep walking in faith.

From that foundation, we read Titus 2 and ask a pointed question about Christian marriage: are we following God, or just copying the world because we want to fit in? We talk about sound teaching, integrity, self-control, and what it means for older believers to mentor younger men and women toward strong homes and steady character. These are simple words, but they demand real consistency in how we speak, how we serve, and how we live behind closed doors.

Then we move to Mark 16, the resurrection account that makes Christianity more than an opinion or a cultural label. The stone is rolled away, Jesus is risen, and the message is handed to imperfect people who struggle to believe it at first and still get called to carry it to the world. We also reflect on national anxiety and the idea that a society can be threatened most by what grows inside its own walls, not only by pressure from outside.

salm 55 On Betrayal

SPEAKER_01

Psalm fifty five verses twelve through fourteen. It is not an enemy who taunts me, I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me, I could have hidden from them. Instead it is you, my equal, my companion, and close friend. What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God. Twenty-one-year-old woman was strangled to death on her birthday inside an Airbnb, and her body hidden in a park by John Moses Chattagoya Ilbus, an illegal immigrant from Ecuador. Hey folks, this is Jesse Cope, back with another episode of the American Soul Podcast. Hope y'all are doing well wherever y'all are, whatever part of the day you're in. I sure do appreciate you joining me, giving me a little bit of your time. I will try to use it wisely. For those of y'all who continue to share the podcast with others and tell others about it, thank you. For those of y'all who continue to pray for me and for the podcast, thank you very much. Very grateful for your prayers. Father, thank you for this day that you have made. Help us to rejoice and be glad in it.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you for all the things that you have put in our lives, the blessings, the trials that strengthen our character and give us hope.

SPEAKER_01

The daily little things, Lord, that we take for granted clean water to drink, food to eat, clothes to wear, a roof over heads, cars that run, friends, family, loved ones. Forgive us our greed, selfishness, pride, arrogance, judgment of others, rash words and accent. Thank you for health, whole bodies. Be with those that don't have these things, Father. Help us to help them, help us to care for them, and uh help us to remember when we're going through trials that we're not alone, that your son has gone through those trials before us.

SPEAKER_00

That he knows our suffering. Be with our leaders in the pulpit and in the state.

SPEAKER_01

Give them wisdom and courage and a strong faith. Be with our military, law enforcement firefighters, EMS. Give them wisdom and courage, comfort, peace, joy. Strengthen their faith. Be with their families, strengthen their marriages, bind them together. Strengthen all our marriages, strengthen our families. Help us to do your will above all else, Father, to love you with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength, to love our neighbors as ourselves, and please bless those who are listening to the podcast today, wherever they are around the world and across the nation here in America. In God, my words, your son's name we pray.

Amen.

salm 55 And Inner Wickedness

Mark 16, 1 through 20. Saturday evening, ah, I forgot. Marriage verses. Titus chapter 2, 1 through 8. But you should talk in a way that is consistent with sound teaching. Tell the older men to be sober, dignified, sensible, and healthy in respect to their faith, love, and patience. Likewise, tell the older women to be reverent in their behavior, teaching what is good rather than being gossips or addicted to heavy drinking. That way, they can mentor young women to love their husbands and children, and to be sensible, morally pure, working at home, kind and submissive to their own husbands, so that God's word won't be ridiculed. Likewise, encourage the younger men to be sensible in every way. Offer yourself as a role model of good actions. Show integrity, seriousness, and a sound message that is above criticism when you teach, so that any opponent will be ashamed because they won't find anything bad to say about us. Are we following God in our marriages, or are we following the world? Do we want to be normal? Do we want to blend in? Or is our goal to follow God and Jesus Christ in our roles as a husband and a wife? Mark 16, 1 through 20. Saturday evening. When the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James, and Solomon went out and purchased burial spices so that they could anoint Jesus' body. Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way they were asking each other who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb. But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside. When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in white robes sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, but the angel said, Don't be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who is crucified. He isn't here. He is risen from the dead. Look, this is where they laid his body. Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there just as he told you before he died. The women fled from the tomb trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were too frightened. Then they briefly reported all this to Peter and his companions. Afterward, Jesus himself sent them out from east to west with a sacred and unfailing message of salvation that gives eternal life. Amen. After Jesus rose from the dead early on Sunday morning, the first person who saw him was Mary Magdalene, the woman from whom he had cast out seven demons. She went to the disciples who were grieving and weeping and told them what had happened, but when she told them that Jesus was alive and she had seen him, they didn't believe her. Afterward he appeared in a different form to two of his followers who were walking from Jerusalem into the country. They rushed back to tell the others, but no one believed them. Still later he appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them for their stubborn unbelief because they refused to believe those who had seen him after he had been raised from the dead. And then he told them, Go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved, but anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe, they will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous it won't hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed. When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God's right hand. And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs. Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles. My enemies shout at me, making loud and wicked threats, they bring trouble on me and angrily hunt me down. My heart pounds in my chest, the terror of death assaults me, fear and trembling overwhelm me. And I can't stop shaking. Oh that I had wings like a dove, then I would fly away and rest.

SPEAKER_00

I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness. How quickly I would escape far from this wild storm of hatred.

ecent Incidents And Ideology Warning

SPEAKER_01

Confuse them, Lord, and frustrate their plans, for I see violence and conflict in the city. Its walls are patrolled day and night against invaders, but the real danger is wickedness within the city. I'm gonna read that again, folks. Um it's gonna fit with later in the podcast. We've got to talk about this more often. Verses 10 and 11 in America today. Its walls are patrolled day and night against invaders, but the real danger is wickedness within the city. Everything is falling apart. Threats and cheating are rampant in the streets. Greatest danger is from within, folks. Far, far more so than Russia, China, Iran, North Korea. It is not an enemy who taunts me, I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me I could have hidden from them. Instead, it is you, my equal, my companion and close friend. What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God. Our enemies today, folks, are the citizens of our own nation, or the people that have been led in or broken in. Let death stalk my enemies, let the grave swallow them alive, for evil makes its home within them. But I will call on the Lord, and the Lord will rescue me. Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice. Do we cry out morning, noon, and night? He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, though many still oppose me. God, who has ruled forever, will hear me and humble them. For my enemies refuse to change their ways, they do not fear God. As for my companion, he betrayed his friends, he broke his promises. His words are as smooth as butter, but in his heart is war. His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers. Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. But you, O God, will send the wicked down to the pit of destruction. Murderers and liars will die young, but I am trusting you to save me. Proverbs eleven seven. When the wicked die, their hope dies with them, for they rely on their own feeble strength. No amount of money can save us, folks. No amount of power in this world. It all goes away when we die. The only hope is Jesus Christ. Countryside, if you're looking for a middle-grade fantasy, this is the first book. And you can see some of the reviews on here. I remembered to put the books over here today. Shocking, I know. And the second book, and again, some of the reviews. If you get a chance and you enjoyed, if you'd leave a review somewhere, Amazon, Barnes and Noble somewhere online, I would appreciate that. And on the podcast, the same thing. And if you have five or ten dollars you can spare, I would be very grateful for that as well. That helps immensely to keep everything going. All right, so what we're gonna read today is I saw this and I dug into it a little bit uh with the help of a little AI. Uh and this is just a list of events that have happened. And this may take most of the rest of the podcast, uh, but they've only been over the last few weeks, folks, and this is the internal battle. The greatest danger we have in the United States by far is Christless conservatism, people that pretend to be conservatives but reject Christ, because you you can't really be conservative if you reject the principles of Christ. People that follow leftism, right? Socialism, communism, Nazism, fascism, all of that bundles all together. And Islam. And that dwarfs any threat externally to the nation. Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, all of them together. You go back to Lincoln, right, in 1837. There's no way for our enemy to get inside and destroy us unless we destroy ourselves first. So Austin, Texas, uh, March 1st. Singhalese Muslim opened fire to bar, killing three or maybe four, and wounding at least 14 others.

SPEAKER_00

Um had the word Allah on his sweatshirt or Iranian flag also, or t-shirt, something, but a Muslim man.

March 7th or 8th, uh Molotov cocktail, attack in New York City. Muslim threw a Molotov cocktail at a group of Christians during a protest in New York City together. That's two. Third, uh, March the 8th to the 9th. Nail bomb, IED attack near Gracie Mansion, the governor's mansion. Individual shouting, Allah Akbar, hurling a nail bomb, IED. Thankfully, it didn't go off. Two Muslim men facing federal charges. Or two men, at least, the attacker, the one that threw it, was Muslim. That's three. Uh four, March the 7th through the 9th. A bomb threat on a southwest flight. Muslim passenger allegedly made a bomb threat on a Southwest Airlines flight from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale. Plane had to divert. No explosion occurred, but obviously it disrupted operations. Five, bomb threat on a plane forcing an emergency landing in Atlanta March 8th to 9th. Muslim issued a bomb threat mid-flight, resulting in an emergency landing at Atlanta's airport. No device was found, but again, significant delays and panic. Bomb threat, that's that's five. This is six, bomb threat at Kansas City Airport, March 8th to 9th. Muslim made a bomb threat that shut down operations at Kansas City International Airport temporarily. No explosives were discovered. 7. Explosion near U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, again March 8th to 9th. Explosion occurred near the embassy, American Embassy. And I don't think that there were any injuries there. There was some destruction of property. And the Department of Homeland Security issued warnings rising Muslim threats, specifically targeting U.S. churches. All of this you can see from the dates, folks, just in the last week or so. It doesn't matter, the geography doesn't matter, skin color doesn't matter, ethnicity doesn't matter, male or female doesn't matter. What matters, folks, is the ideology. Again and again. The very first war our country fought was against Muslims. The entire 20th century was conflict against the evils of communism, socialism, Nazism, fascism, leftism. We're still dealing with this stuff. And in the United States, you see who defends these attacks? The left. Leftism, that whole umbrella goes together hand in glove with Islam. This is the greatest threat to our nation, the weakness, the cancer inside, far greater than anything external, folks. Medal of Honor, real quick, and we'll wrap up. James Brown, Sergeant, Indian Campaigns, Fox Company, 5th U.S. Cavalry, U.S. Army, August 27th, 1872, Davidson Canyon, Arizona. In command of a detachment of four men, defeated a superior force. You know there's a lot more to that. Accredited to New York, not awarded posthumously, presented December 4th, 1874, born 1846, Wexford, Ireland. A little bit different than the uh immigrants, illegals, and mass Muslims that we've got coming in. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the stay our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil. For that is the kingdom of the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. God bless y'all. God bless your families. God bless your marriages if you're married. God bless your nation, wherever you are around the world listening. God bless America. We'll talk to y'all again real soon, folks. Looking forward to it.
