When your soul feels loud, scattered, or just plain tired, you need something sturdier than willpower. We open with Psalm 62 and keep coming back to it like a handhold: wait quietly before God, put your hope in Him, and remember that no enemy can reach the place where He shelters you. I share why this psalm has been personal for me lately, and how the language of rock, fortress, and refuge steadies the mind when circumstances do not.

From there, we read Colossians 3:18–21 and talk about faith where it counts most: marriage, parenting, and the daily tone of a home. Then I work through Luke 3:23–38, the genealogy of Jesus, because the Bible is not a vague idea to me, it’s history and lineage and real names, even the hard-to-pronounce ones. We also connect Psalm 62 with Proverbs 11 and the question of justice: what happens when right and wrong do not get sorted out on our timeline, and what kind of treasure lasts when everything else can rust, break, or vanish?

I also remember Medal of Honor recipient Melvin L. Brown and the courage it takes to hold the line when everything is against you. Finally, I read from historical material on Bible study courses once receiving school credit in Dallas and explain why I believe public education should return to God, Jesus Christ, and the Bible as its foundation. Psalm sixty two verses five through eight. Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. Oh my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge. And I apologize again. Psalm 62, 1 through 12. My soul has been disquieted of late, folks. This psalm was comforting to be the reading today. I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. So many enemies against one man, all of them trying to kill me. To them I'm just a broken down wall or a tottering fence. They plan to topple me from my high position. They delight in telling lies about me. They praise me to my face, but curse me in their hearts. Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge. Common people are as worthless as a puff of wind, and the powerful are not what they appear to be. If you weigh them on the scales, together they are lighter than a breath of air. Don't make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don't make it the center of your life. God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times. Power, O God, belongs to you. Unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely you repay all people according to what they have done. In this life or the next, folks, right? There's earthly consequences and rewards. Sometimes justice isn't meted out the way it should be here, but eventually, one day, it'll be pretty clear whether we stored up treasures here on earth or in heaven. Right? And moth and rust can destroy in one place, but not the other. Proverbs eleven, eighteen through nineteen. Evil people get rich for the moment, but the reward of the godly will last. Godly people find life, evil people find death. If your soul is struggling, go back to Psalm 62. I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. September 4th, 1950, Quezon, Korea. PFC Brown, Delta Company distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty and action against the enemy. While his platoon was securing Hill 755, the walled city, the enemy using heavy automatic weapons and small arms counterattacked. Taking a position on a 50-foot high wall, he delivered heavy rifle fire on the enemy. His ammunition was soon expended, and although wounded, he remained at his post and threw his few grenades into the attackers, causing many casualties. When his supply of grenades was exhausted, his comrades from nearby foxholes tossed others to him, and he left his position, braving a hail of fire to retrieve and throw them at the enemy. The attackers continued to assault his position, and PFC Brown, weaponless, drew his entrenching tool from his pack and calmly waited until they one by one peered over the wall, delivering each a crushing blow upon the head. Knocking ten or twelve enemies from the wall, his daring actions so inspired his platoon that they repelled the attack and held their position. PFC Brown's extraordinary heroism, gallantry, and intrepidity reflect the highest credit upon himself, and was in keeping with the honored traditions of the military service. Reportedly missing in action and officially killed in action September fifth, nineteen fifty. Accredited to Erie County, Pennsylvania, awarded posthumously, presented january ninth, nineteen fifty one at the White House by President Harry S. Truman to his father. Born february twenty second, nineteen thirty one, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, died september fifth, nineteen fifty, Korea, buried Mayhaffy Cemetery, Mayhaffe, Pennsylvania.

Brown. Father, help us to have enough men to defend the wall again. I think we read this a few years back, folks. I don't know. We're gonna read a little bit today. We'll see how far we get. This is out of America's Guide and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations. Great book. If you don't have a copy, I recommend getting one. This was published in September of 1946. It's important to remember that that's one year before the Everson versus Board of Education Supreme Court decision that the debacle of separation of church and state. This was a Bible study course published by the Dallas High Schools, New Testament Bulletin number 170. It was authorized by the Board of Education April 23, 1946. And it was printed in the Dallas Public Schools Print Shop in Dallas, Texas. Forward. The Dallas Public Schools allowed one-half credit toward high school graduation for the successful completion of a general survey course in the Bible given in the churches and Sunday schools of the city. In 1939, it was decided to provide separate courses in the Old and New Testaments, each course carrying one-half unit of credit toward high school graduation. E.B. Comstock, Assistant Superintendent in charge of high schools. The introduction, regulations covering the New Testament study course. There's a few here we'll see. We'll read one or two today. Classes may be organized by any Sunday school or church or any other religious organization for the purpose of studying the Bible in their respective organizations with a view to obtaining high school credit. Successful completion of the course gives one half unit credit toward high school graduation. An application blank giving necessary information about the class must be filled out and filed with the assistant superintendent in charge of Dallas High Schools. There must be a minimum of 40 class periods of 90 minutes net teaching time or 60-minute periods net time or 80, 45-minute periods net time. In no case will fewer than 40 different class sessions be accepted. The text used is the New Testament Study Course, a syllabus published by the authority of the Dallas Board of Education for use in Bible study credit classes. Folks, any public education, any education in the United States that has public taxpayer-funded in any facet has to be centered on the Bible because we were born a Christian nation. It's not Islam, it's not Judaism, it's not Buddhism, Hinduism, not all faiths are equal, not all cultures are equal. This is a Christian nation, a Christian republic made specifically for Christians, where the other people are allowed to come and live here so long as they abide by those principles of Jesus Christ. And we have to get back to having our schools centered on God and Jesus Christ in the Bible. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. God bless y'all. God bless your families. God bless your marriages if you're married. God bless your nation, wherever you are around the world listening. God bless America. We'll talk to y'all again real soon, folks. Looking forward to it.
