Psalm 69 And The Long Road Back To Hope
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The waterline is rising, your footing is gone, and all you can do is whisper a prayer. That is where we start, with Psalm 69 and its blunt honesty about fear, exhaustion, and waiting for God to answer with unfailing love. I pray for you directly, especially if you feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or alone, and I ask God to guard your home, your mind, and your relationships.
From there we move into two Scriptures that cut deep in very different ways. Genesis points to marriage as a one-flesh bond where a husband and wife are fully known and unashamed, which sharpens the ache when the world is filled with betrayal and violence. Luke 7 brings the spotlight back to the heart: the woman who weeps at Jesus’ feet loves much because she has been forgiven much. That story raises a question I cannot dodge: do I love Jesus in proportion to what I know He has forgiven in me?
We also touch current headlines that stir anger and grief, then widen out to themes of discipline and correction from Proverbs 12:1, a Medal of Honor story of courage under fire, and reflections on America’s early history and Christian worldview claims about the nation’s founding. We close with the Lord’s Prayer and a final blessing over your family, your marriage, and your community.

Psalm 69 Cry For Help
SPEAKER_00Psalm 69, verses 13 through 16. But I keep praying to you, Lord, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation. Rescue me from the mud. Don't let me sink any deeper. Save me from those who hate me and pull me from these deep waters. Don't let the floods overwhelm me, or the deep waters swallow me, or the pit of death devour me. Answer my prayers, O Lord, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me, for your mercy is so plentiful. January 12, 2026, Bullock County, Georgia. Eleven-year-old girl was raped at Knife Point in her home by Kenneth Moreno Guzman, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, while her 10-year-old sister was held at knife point. Hope y'all are doing well wherever y'all are and whatever part of the day you're in. Sure to appreciate you joining me, giving me a little bit of your time and attention, a little piece of your day. I will try to use it wisely. For those of y'all who continue to share the podcast and tell others about it, thank you. For those of y'all who continue to pray for me and for the podcast, thank you. Very grateful for your prayers. Father, thank you for today. Thank you for you, Father, and your Son Jesus Christ and your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your love and your mercy, your grace and your forgiveness, your unfailing love. Your mercy that abounds, that never fails. Be with those listening to the podcast, Father, please bless them, surround them with your angels, keep them safe, bless the marriages of those who are married and guide those who have children and raising them to know you and your son Jesus Christ. Be with those who are anxious, depressed, suicidal, even, father. Weary, tired, overwhelmed, burdened, depressed, sad, who feel alone and abandoned. Draw them close to you, Father, as you have promised, to draw the brokenhearted close to you. Help us to care for them, to encourage them, to support them. Help us to love you with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength to love our neighbors as ourselves, and please guide our leaders, pastors and priests. Governors, mayors, senators, representatives, admirals, generals, president, vice president, judges. And guide my words too, Father, please. In your Son's name we pray. Amen. Marriage verse for today. I forgot to get ready. There we go. Marriage verse for today, Genesis 24, 25. This is the reason that a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife and to become one flesh. The two of them were naked, the man and his wife, but they weren't embarrassed. There's no other relationship in your entire life, folks. None that will be like your spouse. There is no other relationship in your entire life that you were supposed to be as intimate with, as fully knowing and known by as your spouse to be naked and completely unashamed in front of. Luke 736 through 8.3. One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat. When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them. When the Pharisee, who had invited him, saw this, he said to himself, If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She's a sinner. And Jesus answered his thoughts. Simon, he said to the Pharisee, I have something to say to you. Go ahead, teacher, Simon replied. Then Jesus told him this story. A man loaned money to two people, five hundred pieces of silver to one and fifty pieces to the other. But neither of them could repay him. So he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that? Simon answered, I suppose the one for whom he cancelled the larger debt. That's right, Jesus said. Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn't offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You didn't greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume. I tell you her sins, and they are many, have been forgiven. So she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love. Then Jesus said to the woman, Your sins are forgiven. The men at the table said among themselves, Who is this man that he goes around forgiving sins? And Jesus said to the woman, Your faith has saved you, go in peace. And they are many, my sins. Do I love Jesus to the extent which he has forgiven my many sins? Soon afterward, Jesus began a tour of the nearby towns and villages, preaching and announcing the good news about the kingdom of God. He took his twelve disciples with him, along with some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases. Among them were Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons, Joanna, the wife of Chusa, Herod's business manager, Susanna, and many others who were contributing from their own resources to support Jesus and his disciples. Psalm 69, 1 through 18. Save me, O God, for the flood waters are up to my neck. Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire. I can't find a foothold. I am in deep water and the floods overwhelm me. I am exhausted from crying for help. My throat is parched. My eyes are swollen with weeping, waiting for my God to help me. Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs on my head. Many enemies try to destroy me with lies, demanding that I give back what I didn't steal. O God, you know how foolish I am, my sins cannot be hidden from you. Don't let those who trust in you be ashamed because of me, O sovereign Lord of Heaven's armies. Don't let me cause them to be humiliated, O God of Israel. For I endure insults for your sake. Humiliation is written all over my face. Even my own brothers pretend they don't know me. They treat me like a stranger. Passion for your house hasn't consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. When I weep and fast, they scoff at me. When I dress in burlap, they show sorrow. To show sorrow they make fun of me. I am the favorite topic of town gossip, and all the drunks sing about me. Don't hide from your servant. Answer me quickly, for I am in deep trouble. Come and redeem me, free me from my enemies. Proverbs twelve one. To learn you must love discipline. It is stupid to hate correction. Countryside. Rotherham Grooming Victims, 1999 to 2002. Rotherham, South Yorkshire, UK. Two teenage girls repeatedly raped and indecently assaulted by a group of Muslim men from Pakistan as part of the Rotherham Child Sexual Exploitation Scandal. Please let some of these posts sink in, folks, some of these stories. Doesn't matter whether it's from the UK or America or where the common denominator is Islam every time. And what supports Islam, leftism, that bucket of isms that we talk about, socialism, communism, Nazism, fascism, those go hand in glove every time, all of the 20th century. You see it again and again. Peaceful coexistence inside the United States or inside the UK with individuals who follow leftism, that whole bucket of isms, or Islam is not possible. Medal of Honor for today, William P. Brownell or Brunell Brownell, Coxwain, highest rank acting master's mate, U.S. Civil War, USS Benton, U.S. Navy, May 22nd, 1863, Great Gulf Bay, and Vicksburg, Mississippi. Served as Coxwain on board the USS Benton during the attack on Great Gulf Bay 2 May 1863. And Vicksburg 22 May 1863. Carrying out his duties with coolness and courage, Brunell served gallantly against the enemy as captain of a nine-inch gun in the attacks on Great Gulf and Vicksburg as a member of the Battery Benton before Vicksburg. And as a memory, member of the Battery Benton. Accredited to New York, not awarded posthumously, born July 12th, 1839, New York, died April 26, 1915, New York. Buried Oak Grove Cemetery, MHC 31, New Bedford, Massachusetts. William P. Brunell Brownell. Medal of Honor. Couple more of our founding error quotes, or at least around there. This is coming out of the America Patriot, American Patriot Bible by edited by Dr. Richard Lee. Little interesting fact here. I forget, we need to read this more often. When people tell you, particularly our Constitution, right, but our just our nation as a whole was not founded on the principles of Christ, that our founders didn't want anything to do with Christianity. Just remember this among the myriad of other facts. The 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention, right? And this is public record, folks. I'm reading it out of here, but you can find it a number of places. 28 Episcopalians, 8 Presbyterians, 7 Congregationalists, 2 Lutherans, 2 Dutch Reformed, 2 Methodists, 2 Roman Catholics, 1 unknown, and 3 Deists. So you've got over 90% of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention who were openly avowed Christians. And when you go through and you read some of their last will and testimonies, which we'll get back into at some point, you see how deep and abiding their faith was. And so the idea that these men would have this just extremely deep faith, creating this brand new government, fighting this war, risking their lives, their fortunes, their honor, and not want God and Jesus Christ to have anything to do with the founding of this nation. That makes zero sense. It just doesn't make any sense at all. It's ludicrous. One more quote here. This is often attributed to Patrick Henry. There's some debate about that within the last few years. But again, folks, when you see people, especially on the left today, saying, oh, well, so-and-so didn't say that, the burden of proof is on them. And it can't just be, well, we saw this magazine 50 years ago that had this quote. Okay, well, that doesn't mean that the quote wasn't around before then. And if if you're if it's been around for a long time and now you're going to say that it's not around, you have the burden of proof on you, right? So whether he said it or not, it's still a great quote, Patrick Henry, a true quote. It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever.
unknownAmen.
