Following Jesus Will Bring Pressure And God Will Still Hold You
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The hardest part of faith isn’t usually the headlines, it’s the moment someone close to you turns on you. Luke 21 names that fear out loud: betrayal by family, hatred for following Jesus, and pressure that feels bigger than you. We sit with those words and talk about what endurance actually looks like when the culture is loud, the future feels unstable, and you’re tempted to panic instead of stand firm.
We also move from big-picture prophecy to everyday obedience. I share why repetition in Scripture is a warning sign we shouldn’t ignore, then we get painfully practical with Proverbs 21:9 and Proverbs 25:24 and what they imply about marriage, conflict, and the damage a contentious spirit can do at home. Along the way, we pray for our listeners and for the people who serve and build our communities, from law enforcement and military to tradesmen and medical workers.
From there the conversation turns to nationhood: crime, immigration, assimilation, and the claim that liberty cannot last when a society rejects God. We reference an article tied to Lexington and close with a quote attributed to President Benjamin Harrison about the Bible’s role in binding society together, then end in prayer. If you care about Luke 21, end times Bible teaching, persecution of Christians, Christian marriage advice, and the relationship between Christianity and the Constitution, you’ll find plenty to wrestle with here. Subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review with your biggest takeaway.

SPEAKER_00Luke 21, starting at Luke 16. Even those closest to you, your parents, brothers, relatives, friends, will betray you. They'll be built to mode and will hate you because you are my followers. But not a hair of your head will perish. By standing firm, you will win your souls. 17-year-old girl, August 2025, Elgin, Scotland. Raped in Cooper Park by Rapullah Amadez, an Afghan Muslim asylum seeker. You can have a Christian nation, folks, or you can have a leftist or Muslim nation. You cannot have both. And if you choose leftist Muslim, you cannot have liberty and freedom. Hey folks, this is Jesse Cope, back with another episode of the podcast. Wherever y'all are, whatever part of the day you're in, sure to appreciate you joining me, giving me a little bit of your time and attention, little piece of your day. For those of y'all who continue to share the podcast with others and tell others about it, thank you. For those of y'all who continue to pray for me and for the podcast, thank you very much. Very, very grateful for your prayers. Father, thank you for today. Thank you for you, Father, and your son Jesus Christ and your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your love and your mercy, your grace, and your forgiveness of sins through the merit of Jesus Christ. Thank you for all the love that you bestow upon us. The ones we admit and the ones we don't for whatever reason. Help us to truly follow the commands of your son Jesus Christ to love you with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength to love our neighbors as ourselves. Please bring our souls safely home to you in your timing. Watch over those listening to the podcast. Please bless them. Surround them with your angels. Keep them safe, protect them, bless their marriages, bless their children. Be with our law enforcement, military, firefighters, EMS, guide them, bless them and their families, bring them home safe. Be with those men who go out and work on our infrastructure. Surveyors, electricians, plumbers, construction, roads, buildings. Thank you for them. Keep them safe. Be with our doctors, nurses, all the people in our medical field. Bless them. Draw them all close to you, Father. Help them to feel your presence. Give them wisdom and courage and a strong faith. God, my words here, Father, please. Your son's name we pray. Amen. I've told this story a few times on the podcast. I think I actually messed it up the last time, but uh there's a teacher that taught for a few decades that told me this story that he would tell his kids, you know, if I put something on the board or talk to you about it once, probably a good idea to know it, right? If I put something on the board or talk about it in class twice, there's a pretty good chance it's gonna be on the next test. But if I tell you something three times, right, if I put it on the board, talk to you about it three times, then not even the devil himself off the next test. I think I said it right. And I mentioned that because every so often we talk about these two Proverbs. It's twice, at least, in Proverbs that God makes this kind of comment. Proverbs 21:9, better to live on the edge of a roof than with a contentious woman in a large house. Proverbs 25, 24. Better to live on the edge of a roof than to share a house with a contentious woman. And some of you men out there, you know this. You've lived it. And if you have, you need to use your story to warn both young men and women. Men about not marrying a contentious woman and a woman about not being a contentious wife. Right? But if he says it twice, there's a pretty good chance that we need to pay attention to it. Jesus was in the temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped. Jesus said, This poor widow has given more than all the rest of them, for they have given a tiny part of their surplus. But she, poor as she is, has given everything she has. Some of his disciples began talking about the majestic stonework of the temple and the memorial decorations on the walls. But Jesus said, The time is coming when all these things will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another. Teacher, they asked, When will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to take place? He replied, Don't let anyone mislead you. For he will come in my name, claiming I am the Messiah, and saying, The time has come. But don't when you hear of wars and disruptions, don't panic. Yes, these things must take place first, but the end won't follow immediately. Then he added, Nation will go to war against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and plagues in many lands, and there will be terrifying things and great miraculous signs from heaven. But before all there will be a time of great persecution. But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me. So don't read how to answer the charges against you, for I will give you the right words, and such will none of your opponents will be able to reply or review you. Even those closest to you, your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends will betray you. They will even kill some of you, and everyone will hate you because you are not laws, but not a hair of your head will perish. By standing firm you will your souls. And when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that the time of destruction has arrived. Then those be must flee to the hills, those in Jerusalem, and those out in the country should not return to the city, for those will be the days of God's vengeance, and the prophetic words of the scriptures will be fulfilled. How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days, for there will be disaster and great anger against this people. They will be killed by the sword or sent away as captives to all nations of the world, and Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the period of the Gentiles comes to an end. There will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars, and here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. So all for your salvation is near. You have broken down the walls protecting him and ruined every fort defending him. Everyone who comes along has robbed him, and he has become a joke to his. He said it's a free country, a legal immigrant. Huge difference. Huge difference between those immigrants that come here and love this country and want to assimilate. And those which we have so many of who come here illegally are the mass Muslims that want to change the nation to be something it never was. One strengthens the nation, one group is destroying it. One more last little bit here. Anchors the green, uh, rang its bell as the British approached, serves as the first parish of Lexington Unitarian Universalist Church. Black Lives Matter Sign hangs prominently at the entrance, along with a rainbow flag and an American flag. Told the Epic Times that he's traveled across the country, fell in blood of Massachusetts and Lexington. He said it's vibrant and growing. He appreciates the low crime and picturesque town. My kids love all this stuff. My daughter, she's a history buff, Dagan said. America is a special place with a strong foundation in its constitution that still allows people to get ahead if they're willing to work. That's only true, though, folks, with God. So many, even on the conservative side, sadly on the conservative side. When you take God out of America, there is no America. When you take the principles of Jesus Christ out of America, out of our Constitution, right? God, I wish I had that quote. You're gonna have to wait, folks, and give me a second, because I know where that quote is. We're gonna read it. It's by one of our presents. Yeah, Benjamin Harrison. If you take out your statutes, your constitution, your family life, all this taken from the sacred book, what would there be left to find society together? Nothing, folks. That's the answer. Nothing. There would be nothing left. Great article. A lot more in there, we don't have time for. If you get a chance, check it out. It's on the Epic Times newspaper following Paul Revere's Revolutionary Ride by Darlene McCormick Sanchez. Really, really interesting article. A lot of little tidbits of history in there. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, though be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trust against us and lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. God bless y'all. God bless your families, your marriages if you're married. God bless your nation around the world listening. God bless America. We'll talk to y'all again real soon, folks. Looking forward to it.
