The Life Challenges Podcast
BONUS EPISODE: Fearless Faith Conference: Building Courage in a Challenging World
Courage doesn't mean fearlessness—it means standing firm despite our fears. The upcoming Fearless Faith conference, hosted by Christian Life Resources on September 13th at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in Jackson, Wisconsin, offers exactly what today's Christians need: biblical wisdom for navigating our complex world.
Based on Joshua 1:9, this one-day gathering brings together remarkable speakers who understand firsthand what it means to face life's storms with God's strength. From Pastor Fleischman's opening sermon "Someone Must Die" to Dr. Stacey Jensen's insights on finding peace through personal loss, each session addresses real challenges Christians face. Dr. Rob Balza tackles the ethics of prenatal testing with practical frameworks, while Heather from Wisconsin Right to Life shares her powerful journey as an anorexia survivor, connecting her experience to concerning trends in euthanasia. Sheila Luck rounds out the day with her testimony of finding healing after abortion and offers guidance for having meaningful conversations about difficult topics.
What sets this conference apart is its accessibility and relevance. Whether you attend in person ($50, or just $10 for students) with lunch and snacks included, or join virtually ($40, or $5 for students), you'll leave equipped to face today's ethical challenges with confidence. The hybrid format ensures everyone can participate, and the day's schedule (9:00am-3:30pm) provides substantial content without overwhelming attendees. Consider inviting friends to join you—as Rachel notes, these experiences are even more meaningful when shared.

Speaker 2:Hi and welcome. I'm Krista Potrat and today we have a special bonus episode. I am joined by Rachel Greiner, who heads up the Bridge Ministry for Christian Life Resources, but Rachel is on today to talk about the upcoming national conference. Rachel, can you give us a lowdown here of the national conference, what it is, where it is and the information for our listeners?
Speaker 3:We are so excited. This year's conference is called Fearless Faith and it's going to take place at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, which is in Jackson, wisconsin. A lot of us have been there. We've hosted the conference there before. It's just a beautiful venue and the event's going to be coming up on Saturday, september 13th, and it's from 9 to 3.30.
Speaker 3:And this year's theme is being strong and courageous. We based it on Joshua 1.9. And I just think that's such a relevant message for all of us in this crazy world. No matter what your walk of life, we all are facing those storms and those challenges, and there's so many day-to-day issues relating to ethics and Christian values, and I love that we're going to get equipped to tackle those things that we're dealing with. I feel like the cost is great. It includes things like lunch and snacks. I'm a huge snacker, so that's enough for me to want to show up. The in-person cost is $50, $10 if you're a student. That includes seminary students and this is a hybrid event, so we actually have another rate. It's going to be live streamed and it's $40 to attend virtually only $5, that's less than some coffees if you are a student, and so I think it's going to be a real special event.
Speaker 2:We at the podcast here, too, are just so excited about anytime we can have a conference and have different speakers and everything. Come on too. A lot of the guests that we had especially early on were speakers at the conference in years past, and so it's just. It's a great way for us to showcase some of the things and the speakers and people too, and I have attended the conference before and I have always really enjoyed it. I have felt that it is really worth my time to be there, and the speakers are always very I mean, they're very good at speaking and talking, but I always come out of there thinking, wow, I really I wasn't expecting that, or I learned something new, which is really wonderful and great too. Can you tell us, rachel, about the different speakers this year that we're going to be having at the conference?
Speaker 3:Absolutely, and the nice thing is, I feel like your experience sounds so much like what other people have said. Last year I was so thankful to be more involved and the feedback we got was just glowing. So you don't have to be Krista to have that experience. So we're going to start off with Pastor Fleischman, and again, he's been involved with this ministry for decades and decades.
Speaker 2:He's just a wealth of knowledge and so people on the podcast will know him as Bob. So if you want more, Bob, this is your opportunity.
Speaker 3:He's going to be a key part of our opening service. He's doing a sermon message based on scripture titled Someone Must Die so very provocative. And we're also going to have our local group Unworthy is going to be blessing us with their musical talents, so that'll be wonderful. Yeah, that.
Speaker 2:I think is new this year. I mean, I don't remember musical groups in the past.
Speaker 3:I'm very excited about that, get us in the right state of mind. I think it's so easy especially for maybe someone like me for me to think about my to-do lists and things like that, and so I feel like having some live music is a great way to just help me really tune in and get the most out of the speakers, so I'm very excited about that. The first speaker, then, will be Dr Stacey Jensen. She is a professor who's navigated personal loss. I've been on a webinar with her before. I've heard her speak. She's going to be a huge blessing to everyone there, and she knows firsthand what it's like to find peace in a storm by getting strength through God, and she's going to talk about that. It's going to be relevant to everyone, because it's just a matter of time until each of us does experience that, so I'm very excited to see her.
Speaker 3:Dr Rob Balza he's pretty well known in a lot of our circles and he's going to address the ethics of prenatal testing, and it's very timely, especially for families today, and I can be very practical, and so I love that. He's going to give us a practical Christian framework for some of these daunting decisions. So I love that my good friend Heather is going to be sharing about her story. She works with Wisconsin Right to Life and she's actually an anorexia survivor and something that people might not know, but euthanasia has been expanding, especially in North America, and she's going to talk about the connection between anorexia and euthanasia and her story is going to give us hope and it's also, I believe, going to challenge us to really defend the vulnerable, and so I love that.
Speaker 3:And then bringing us home is going to be Sheila Luck. She was an engineer, she was an attorney, and she did not anticipate sharing her story or becoming an author or a speaker, but after about three years she really felt compelled by God, and so now she started sharing her story nationally, and it's a huge blessing. So she's going to share about her abortion experience and how God's love helped her to overcome that, and again, we know that it's not unusual for women in the church to have an abortion as part of their story, and so again, whether it's our story or someone else's, I think that's going to be very relevant, very encouraging. She's going to give us tips for having better conversations about such a heated topic, and so I'm looking forward to that too.
Speaker 2:What I have often really liked, too, about the previous conferences is that I do feel like there is a really good mix of people's personal stories and their testimony and that type of thing, but like with also the science and the call to action and making it relevant for your personal self too. Hearing you talk about all these speakers too makes me really excited and reminds me of that as well. Just that well-roundedness with the conference.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and I'm personally excited to have some friends join for that too. So if you are registering today, I would encourage you to reach out to one of your friends. I think most things are more fun with a buddy and I know I'm planning to have a friend or there too and it's nice because then you can discuss it with them during the lunchtime and things like that, and you can also give each other encouragement and hope based on some of those talks.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think inviting friends sounds like a great thing and, you know, and I think too, I mean maybe some of our listeners can't attend in person, and I know you mentioned that there is the online availability too, and I think too, even just like, supporting Christian Life Resources online and signing up for the conference is just a really a great way to support us, to support the podcast. I mean, we don't, you know, typically come on the podcast and ask for money or your donations and that type of thing, but this really is a great way to support the work that we're doing and to really get help, get our name out there and just all the great things that Christian Life Resources is about.
Speaker 3:So probably the best way for people to register is going to be just to go to christianliferesourcescom. At the top of the page it's going to say something like 2025 Conference, and that's a place where they can register for the live stream or an in-person ticket. And again, we have those student discounts. So I want to make sure that people are sharing that with their kids or their grandkids or their vicar, perhaps.
Speaker 2:Rachel and I will be there. So there's always that too, but no well, thank you so much, rachel. Any other anything else that we should mention?
Speaker 3:I'm just excited for us to have this experience together, and I'm hoping our friends will be there to join us.
Speaker 2:Well, thank you so much for joining us, rachel, and we thank all of you who listen and support the podcast and, if you are able to, we would love to see you there. See you back next time. Bye.
