Show Notes

This week's episode of Ghana in Focus is a special edition looking at the Government of Ghana's decision to seek financial assistance/ bailout from the notorious IMF.

We explain why it is not the effects of COVID or the Russia/ Ukraine war that is responsible for Ghana's economic woes as other Afrikan countries in the sub region like Nigeria, Togo and Burkina Faso have NOT gone to the IMF for assistance.

We analyse giving 4 indices that it  is the financial incompetence and mis-management of the Ghanaian economy by the current government that has led to it having to run cap in hand to the IMF.

We then go into the history behind the setting up of the IMF and explain that the IMF actually makes matters worse  citing the punishing conditions that were imposed on Ghana when the country went to the IMF during the disastrous 1980's .

History has shown that NO country built its economy to world class standards by accepting financial handouts by the IMF/World Bank.

We end by stating that ONLY homegrown solutions will make Ghana truly economically independent -  in short RESET from the current colonial economic slavery or Ghana risks sinking into the oblivion of history!!
