Letters From Your Dog
Most of us bring a dog into our lives to enjoy adventures together and have an amazing relationship with our furry friends.
Sometimes life together can feel like a struggle though and we can end up feeling stressed or overwhelmed, or unsure how to best support or dogs.
Dr Holly Tett is a Clinical Psychologist for people and Animal Behaviourist for dogs. She fuses her knowledge of both ends of the lead to help you to better understand each other, overcome challenges and build a loving relationship together, using only kind methods and strategies.
Letters From Your Dog
What is the balance between trying to change my dog's behaviour v adapting to fit the dog I have?
Hello friends! Dog training can and should be really fun! However, I know that sometimes it can feel like there's SO MUCH to work on together that it can feel more like a chore.
An interesting question I always like to ask when someone comes to me saying they feel overwhelmed with "the list" of things to change is....do we really need to change all of these things? And why?
In this episode you'll hear:
- How to know when to work with your dog to modify a behaviour (or help your dog with the emotions causing the behaviour)
- The key questions to ask yourself in order to make that decision
- Techniques to help with those feelings of overwhelm
