Do you speak your truth?
I posted on FB that I launched my podcast! And I immediately had anxiety. I wondered if so-and-so would hear my stories. I even started to unfriend people.
But I caught myself doing this unconscious behavior. And when I started to explore this behavior with some introspection, the feeling I had was fear. People were going to hear my truth, my experiences, my true thoughts. They would be learning about my mistakes, my struggles, my mess, my ugly side. And I was terrified! Terrified of criticism, judgment, and rejection.
I think a lot of us, because of this same fear, create a mask where we hide our true selves from the world. We only show the version of ourselves that other people want us to be or what we think they want us to be. This behavior, however, has consequences. Pretending to be someone else is exhausting and lonely.
Something I am learning to do is to speak my truth. We are nothing if not our truth and speaking our truth is what helps us to liberate ourselves from lies and limiting beliefs. It helps us share who we are with the world. If we want to be truly happy, this is one of the things that we need to do. I’m still learning how to speak my truth. It is hard and uncomfortable at times, but I am practicing it in little ways in my life. And If I can do it, so can you!
I would love to hear from you!
