Child Life Wild Life
The Wild Life of Past Mentees with Kaitlyn Baron
Certified Child Life Specialist, Jessica Lewin, talks with friend and past mentee, Kaitlyn Baron, CCLS about the importance of finding yourself a mentor. Having someone in your corner that you can rely on and who is your own personal cheerleader and sounding board is invaluable.
When Jessica met Kaitlyn, Jessica was immediately drawn to Kaitlyn's experiences as a student/professional. Kaitlyn graduated with her bachelor's in psychology and a master's in social work in 2019. She was working as a licensed children's mental health therapist until COVID and decided to become a child life specialist instead.
She became frustrated with her role as a therapist when she realized the fee for service style jobs, needing to work nights/weekends in order to accommodate children's schedules (therapists unfortunately work when everyone else doesn't), and the limitations she had with her license being state licenses only, limiting her ability to move.
