Is There a 'Being Human' Handbook?
Mar 22, 2022 Season 1 Episode 41
Stephanie Allen & Maren Oslac

Why would we need a handbook, or a manual?  We are born human, it's who we are. A tree doesn't need a handbook on how to be a tree.

And yet, when you look around, you have to ask yourself if this is really the best we can do. We have everything we could want, the greatest creations, the most advanced technology and yet, there's still war, poverty and injustice.

Is this the best we can do?
Or is there more?
A deeper calling, a next level to our humanity.

In today's episode, Maren and Stephanie talk about this deeper layer of being human and what it means to us as leaders, partners, lovers and collaborators. They discuss why it's different for us than for trees, dogs, or any other sentient beings. And they share a process to help you access your own personal 'being human' handbook.

Each of us is unique. How do we stay the inquiry to know ourselves, to fall in love with us? It begins with a willing heart and a practice of stillness.

Here's the quote from the end of the podcast.

"Immobility and silence are not inactive.
The flower fills the space with perfume, the candle with light.
They do nothing yet they change everything by their mere presence.
You can know the man, his name and appearance, but not his influence….. his very presence is action."
