As leaders, as humans, we’re taught to seek answers, yet the quest itself is what changes us. Answers are all around us, accessible on the encyclopedia we have stashed in our pockets. Thes answer to the question of your life, “why are YOU here?”, can’t be searched on Google. It can only be lived.
Learning to live into the question is a life skill. Imagine if we all learned that skill in school! Stephanie and Maren use a beautiful Rainer Maria Rilke letter from the book “Letters to a Young Poet” to discuss this essential concept. This is a rich and contemplative episode. If you can’t write down the questions, you can always access the transcript.
"I would like to beg you, dear sir, as well as I can to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart. And to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked in rooms, or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now. Because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually without even noticing it. Live your way into the answer." ~ Rainer Maria Rilke
