Special Guests: Drs. Jeffrey Barrick and Thomas Saunders - Genome Engineering of Honeybee Microbes, Mice, and More
Howdy everyone! In this episode, Joe and Anthony interview guests from Texas A&M’s 2023 Genome Editing Symposium. Dr. Jeffrey Barrick is an associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin where his research is focused on the development of methods to predict and stop unwanted evolution of microbes. Recently, his group has started to apply synthetic biology tools to manipulate bacterial endosymbionts of insects with an emphasis on those in honeybees and aphids. Dr. Thomas Saunders is a research professor at the University of Michigan where he has been a pioneer in the development of transgenic mouse models and has over 30 years of experience running the BRCF Transgenic Animal Model Core.
