FGT 61: From Cruise Ship Workouts To PCOS Questions
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your workouts are getting stronger, your habits are tighter, and somehow the scale still refuses to cooperate. That tension is where we start, with a real catch-up on lingering flu symptoms, surprise seasonal allergies, and why being stuffed up can derail sleep and recovery fast when you rely on a CPAP. From there we celebrate the kind of progress you cannot always graph: two months of gym consistency, sticking to a routine on a cruise ship, and learning what actually helps you keep showing up.
We also get into the behind-the-scenes stuff people rarely say out loud. What do you do when a personal trainer is clearly not paying attention, your injury flares, and the app is not tracking your work? How do you record lifts for form without blasting strangers online? And yes, we tell the full story of a horror escape room with a live actor, running in the dark, forgetting the rules immediately, and smashing a button hard enough to bruise a hand.
Then the conversation turns practical and personal: tipping prompts everywhere, Starbucks somehow being cheaper than independent cafés, and Canadian grocery prices that make a cucumber feel like a luxury item. On the food side, we talk overnight oats, protein powder that ruins the whole recipe, and the never-ending balance of protein, fibre, calories, and cravings. The biggest health thread is a thoughtful shift toward a lower carb approach to reduce bloating and support energy, alongside questions about insulin resistance and possible PCOS, including why symptoms can get dismissed when the follow-up is not there.
If you’re working through a weight loss plateau, building a sustainable gym routine, or trying to make sense of PCOS and insulin resistance without sliding into toxic diet culture, you’ll find both strategy and honesty here. Cold Symptoms And Allergy Surprise
SPEAKER_00I would like to say that I cringed when you showed me your Alani because your post is right. The amount of people I've seen that have found a mouse in their Alani is disgusting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. But I am addicted and apparently even that isn't going to stop me from getting it because I definitely bought a Costco pack the next day.
SPEAKER_00Did you cut your hair?
SPEAKER_02I did a couple weeks ago.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it looks good. Well, I mean, like how often do we talk?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's kind of crazy. Lisa and I have barely talked since we recorded the last episode. So that is like I keep thinking about when we said on the episode, like, we'll see when we record next time. And in my head, I'm like, we fully have plans to record next weekend. And then just stuff fell through. And a lot of it is me. Uh you can hear. I'm still sick. This is day 15 now. Um, the flu, the contagious period is gone, but I am so stuffed up. And I don't know if it's the massive amount of pollen in the air right now that's contributing to it. I swear to God, it looks like it's snowing. That's how much is outside right now.
SPEAKER_01I'd be I would be dying.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But like I don't normally have allergies. It's just sometimes around the season I do get stuffed up. So I'm probably developing allergies, but I've never had them like when I was younger.
SPEAKER_01Right, right.
SPEAKER_00Which I find so weird when people develop allergies. Like my brother developed allergi an allergy to a cat in his like 20s or something.
SPEAKER_02That was me and my adult life. It's like once March and April starts coming in, my nose and everything is just so swollen, and my eyes are all teary, and I don't know what it is that comes into bloom at that time because later in the year I'm fine. Like right now, I'm fine. But there's something that is coming into bloom in like March that always every time just messes me up. I have so much to talk about. I don't know about you. I don't know if it's so much as much as it is just a big thing, and I feel like it's a big thing in my mind. But before I get into my stuff, and this is like the first time that we are, you know, talking and then just jumping right into things, but my brain feels like it's going to explode if I don't talk about things. But I just wanted to say how freaking proud I am of you because of how well you've been doing at the gym. Well, everything. Like you've just been kicking ass at everything. But like as a gym girly, like you joining the gym girly side just feels like you finally joined like the Sith side, and it's just like I love it.
SPEAKER_00I
Gym Progress And Cruise Momentum
SPEAKER_00thank you. Yeah, it's weird. Like, uh, so Friday would have uh marked the end of two months now at the gym. Wait, does that mean that we haven't recorded in two months? Because that was I even at the gym yet. This is like the first update.
SPEAKER_02Um I think you were starting at the gym the last time we recorded, but you hadn't gone yet. Honestly, I'd have to go back and look, but I don't think you had gone yet. Um but yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, I don't know if you saw the profile picture that I'm using in Heavy, but I just I just thought it was funny because it's this picture. Um oh no, it's too small, but like in it, it's me all doled up with a drink in my hand, and then it says decided I don't hate the gym anymore. It's my bio. But I'm like, I just thought it was funny because it normally people have like workout photos, and I'm like, I'm lifting my drink.
SPEAKER_02I yes, I did see that, and I thought the same thing because I was going through like my followers and stuff, and I was like the gym pick, gym pick, gym pick, and then I saw yours, and I'm like, that's so cute, that's so crisp. I loved it. Also, you can really see it in your face.
SPEAKER_00I actually didn't see it until we signed on, and then I was like, Oh wow, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's not logging on for two months.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I just jumped on the scale and it didn't go down by much, it's like uh 0.6 of a pound or something like that, but um whatever. Uh it's not that big of a deal. Like, like I'm I'm I'm like looking up the scale just like seeing, but I know that I'm building muscle as well, so I'm not that concerned about it.
SPEAKER_02You are down quite a bit from the start of this year, though, right?
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, I started this year at 357 and I'm at 328.4.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you're amazing. Wow. I mean, you'd be amazing without that number too. Not to, you know, reel it back a few steps where we're validating our worth on the scale. But um sorry if you can hear me blow my nose. No, you're good.
unknownOkay, good.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry. It's just like it's insane. Honestly, day 15. I just I can't get over how sick I still am. Um, there's something I was gonna say about that. I just remembered I forgot to take my Zempic shot yesterday. Gosh darn it. Yesterday was such a weird day. I'm like messaging Lisa at five in the morning this morning, being like, I haven't gone to sleep yet. I can't use my CPAP because I can't breathe with it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's Brandon's the same way he can't use it when he has a cold, too.
SPEAKER_00It's annoying. And like I kept trying, but then like my mouth kept opening and then it was just air coming out. So it's like this isn't working.
SPEAKER_03Oh man, that's exactly how I love sorry to have a conversation with Brandon while he has his sleep.
SPEAKER_02Is he not? And I'll just be like, and then this happened, and it'll be like Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Trying to talk to Rams. It's like I'm using the back, like my tongue to like lock the back of my throat while I'm trying to produce noise. I'm like, gosh, darn it, this sucks. But yeah, like my biggest update today honestly is about the gym just being like I honestly, the my biggest accomplishment is that I did uh stick with the gym routine on the cruise ship. That was like crazy, but they had state-of-the-art machines, uh, and it was just so great. Um and then I was able to use a hydro pool after, so I'm definitely gonna do it again on the cruise. That's coming up this Saturday. Today is Monday, and it's a seven-day long cruise. Uh, but I get the hydrotherapy pool again, so why not?
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, I'm so excited for that for you. Like it's just it both for the cruise and for the gym. I uh was it the routine that I had made for you that you were sticking with, or did you do like a mash of like because you were seeing a personal trainer for a bit too, right? Did that end up working out or no?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I really like her. Um today's session actually got canceled. Last week's session got canceled because Rams had the flu. This week she has the flu. So no. Um, and our sessions are actually up in July because we signed up for them last July. However, I'm gonna ask the manager at the gym if he can extend it just because the personal trainer we had before sucks so much. They actually gave us a free day, and it wasn't that we even complained, we didn't tell anyone because we didn't know that it was weird. We were like, oh, is this the way gym trainers are? It's not. He just was really bad and he got audited by his managers and then fired. Um, he wasn't inputting our exercises into the app. Um,
Personal Trainer Lessons And Filming Etiquette
SPEAKER_00so we didn't have anything to like look back on or see what we were doing when we were exercising with him. He was really distracted by other members in the gym. And it was like I told him I had to be careful with my plantar fasciitis, and he mostly had us doing different versions of squats, which triggered my plantar fasciitis really bad, and I was off work for six months. So technically, um, it was his doing. But like I also just went, okay, well, he's not a miracle worker, so it's like I didn't I didn't make a big deal out of it, but because he got audited, everybody who was his client got an extra day of service. Um but I missed out on six months, so um, I don't know, maybe maybe they'll accommodate us just by like adding two months of time. I just don't want to squish the time with the personal trainer because I want to have her like to be able to see like the results over a period of time, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Not her see the results, me see the results.
SPEAKER_02I think my favorite video that I've seen, because I've you know I've been watching your posts and we were talking at the gym when you were first getting started. And um my favorite video that you've posted is the one where you were pushing on the sled, and then Rams was up on the sled. Did she like did were you like, I can only do 50 pounds or whatever? And then no, it was like, how did that go?
SPEAKER_00Well, we did it. That was the second time we had done that exercise, and the first time there was like no weights on it, and I was like, Oh, this is actually really easy. However, it wouldn't have been easy today. Come, I'll come back to that. I have a bruise on my hand right now. Um so we were pushing it, and I was like, Oh, I've done this before, but not with wheels, like it was an actual sled on the ground through my kinesiologist, and um, I'm like, so this is really easy, so there's no weight on it.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but but it has a resistance thing, like so she can like switch the gears, right? Right, and so like we did it with no weights, and then this time she's like, Okay, I've added weights. And there was like four kettlebells in there at one point. I think then she added two more at another point, and then she's like, All right, let's just see if you can do it like really heavy and put Rams on there. And I was like, All right, and then honestly, it wasn't that different. I'm like, it's like you could tell it a little bit, but I'm like, yeah, all right. But then I had to go on for him, and I'm like, uh, I'm like, if you can't push me, I'm gonna cry. So you better be ready to push me. And he was, it was fine. So I was like, thank goodness. Cause I'm like, that's like asking him to lift me up. I know.
SPEAKER_02I yeah, I love that. That was that's probably my favorite video that you've posted.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was cool. I because I I'm not really okay still with recording in the gym, even though this gym allows it. Like when we signed up for it, there was a guy carrying a tripod and a ring light out, and the manager points to him and goes, Yeah, we allow content creation here. And I was like, Cool. Um, but even when our trainer was filming me pushing that sled, I noticed I could see everyone's face like just on the treadmill. And I was like, I feel really bad for them. Cause like, what if they don't want to be seen? So I tried to zoom into it and like so that at least the top part of their face was cut off. I don't know, like at my gym at work, I'm able to look like I'm the only one in the gym sometimes because and then I also tell the people around me, because they're my coworkers, I'm like, hey, if you see me recording and you happen to walk in the back, I would never post it. Even if you stood there and called me a fat bitch, I would never post it. So I'm like, not that they would, but like, you know, I'm just letting you know, like, please do not be scared of the camera because this is like for my personal trainer to see. And I do upload some to the internet, but only if it's on me. So everyone's been pretty cool about it. And a lot of the times I go to the gym and no one's in there. I picked the sweet spot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I I don't like recording content in the gym unless it's like if there's a couple people there and I have an opportunity to set it up and there's nobody around, I will, but it's not, and I'll go into the even if I'm taking pictures or whatever, most times I'll go into like the like the I don't know, the extracurriculars room where they have classes and whatnot. Because there's no classes that are happening in four in the morning. So um I can go that route, but most times it's it's pretty busy, so I'm just not able to record the content there, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00I wish I could, but so um off topic a little bit, but like if I was to go to the gym today and have to push that sled, I have a bruise on the what part of this is the hand is this called? Palm. Is that but uh the palm is here, right? Or the heel.
SPEAKER_02Like this is like this is your palm, but this is the heel of your hand. Okay, I think it's the heel.
SPEAKER_00So down there. Well, it's like right at the base of your thumb, like right down into the middle of your palm. There's a big bruise here, and it's because I hit a button really hard. And I know that sounds ridiculous, but my friends and I went to Mr. J's escape room in Richmond yesterday, and it is a horror escape room with a live actor
Horror Escape Room And Bruised Hand
SPEAKER_00in it. So at the front door, I was so out, dude. I know I'm going to survive this, okay? But when the lights are off, I don't know who's out there.
SPEAKER_02I know I'm going to survive, but there is a 1% chance I will die.
SPEAKER_00So I might try and post content, but it's literally just a black screen because you can't see it, but you can just hear what we're saying. And there was this part in it where you're in this room and it's a very small space, and they make it look very different because they keep you like in this elevator thing telling the story. And with it being an escape room, there's not as many puzzles as there is as this is for entertainment, you know, like it's more about the horror and the story.
SPEAKER_01Okay, that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00But there are a few things, and like, like, for example, I had to stick my hand into a hole, and I said, I ain't sticking my hand in no fucking hole. Like, no, I there's two things I don't do in this such kind of situation. I will not stick my hand into the unknown, and I will never, if someone's like, hey, hold out your hand and their hands like this to drop something into my hand, I will be nope, you can't nope. And people get very mad at me and like, you know, because they'll want to do something nice. But I'm like, even if you do put it in my hand and I'm I will drop it because I'm scared, and it's all because my brother used to put spiders in my hand that way. I can't I have no trust in people, you know, because more my brother would even be like, Trust me, like as and I'm like, No, I you've done this before, and I'd still do it because look up gullible in my pictures in the dictionary.
SPEAKER_02A bunch one or a bunch.
SPEAKER_00Well, sometimes there'd be multiple, but like normally just one. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02I have so much hate with this right now.
SPEAKER_00I know, yeah. Yeah, mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Okay, well, anyway, is the button?
SPEAKER_00So there is this part in the escape room where you're in this room and you have to go out individually or in pairs. So we had five people and you have to press four buttons. So we're like, oh, we'll go out in like twos and then one person on their own, meaning Rams. We made the mistake because I'm like, wait, that's only three groups, but whatever. So Rams went out on his own and he was so quiet because it's happening around us. And I'm like, wow, he's so quiet. Like, what the heck? Totally forgetting what the rules are. The rules are when you see the the creature, you're supposed to crouch and hold your mouth and nose so that they don't smell or hear you. Like it's just, you know, obviously they can't smell you, but then you do it when their backs turned and they won't notice you. When I went out, I just started running. I was with my friend Allie and we're running around together, and you can hear me go, Are you scared of the dark? And she's like, I am now. And so I see the th the thing, the person, and then I start running the other direction. You guys you just see me running in circles, trying to get away from this thing, and hitting the wall, trying to find buttons anywhere, and then finally I found one and I smashed my hand. And so in the video, you hear me go, Oh, my hand hurts. It hadn't developed yet. It's really hard to hold things right now. Um, but yeah, in the video, all of a sudden you hear me go, you can't get through this way. Shit, it's the other way. Allie, come on, and she was behind me. I go to the room, she's not there. So we're like, Allie, come on. You just hear us yelling Allie's name. Allie, Allie, come back to the room. And so then I try and go back out the room, and then I see the creature and I'm like, no. Okay. And she's like, wow, want you to be abandoned. Well, you all know now that if you are in danger, I won't be there.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, no, there's no fight or flight, it is flight only.
SPEAKER_00And then the worst part was that when we were done, because we had the two groups of two and then Rams, and and then I was like, oh, Rams was quiet. Cause I'm like, oh, were you crouching and stuff? He's like, Yeah, I followed the rules. I'm like, I forgot the second I went out of the room. And so then at the end, I'm like, um, each person has to touch a button. And I'm like, Allie and this other girl, I'm like, you're gonna have to go back out because neither of you touched a button, and we need four to be pressed. Oh my god, it was so funny, but like, yeah, it's about fifty dollars each, which is kind of insane. Um, but it was honestly still really worth it. They have two other ones that are not as much horror, um, but they're coming out with a new one that apparently is worse, like more than the one we were just at. Yeah. Oh, also, just on a side note, because this is every company now, and I'm not calling out Mr. J specifically, tipping option at the end. And I'm like, what? Like, we're everywhere. Sorry, we're paying $50 to like do this, so like off our group alone, that's $250. Like, that's a lot of money for an hour, you know? And it just it's kind of crazy to me that there's a tipping option. We still did it, but I'm like, why is everyone like Subway Starbucks like all these places?
SPEAKER_02I was just gonna say Subway. It's literally like you just feel so forced to to tip now, and it's like I
Why Tipping Prompts Feel Everywhere
SPEAKER_02and this isn't to say I'm against tipping, because like when you're at a restaurant and there's a server and they are actually doing stuff for you, like I am going to tip them. And I am the type of person where the amount the way you have made this experience is the amount I'm going to tip you. Like, if you haven't given a good experience, I'm not going to max out my tip for you. Like, so if I am at a subway place and I am asking you to make a sandwich, and that is the service that I'm already paying you for that service, like the server, I feel like at the restaurant, it's like, I don't know, at restaurants, I feel like you're just kind of paying the company and you're paying the chef. Like, you know what I mean? So it's like you're serving me, so here's your tip. You know what I mean? Like, you took care of me, here's your tip.
SPEAKER_00It's just traditionally known that like servers get paid less, which I do agree on the other side, where it's like, especially after traveling a bunch, that it's like, okay, but that's the company's job to pay you more. And it's like, yeah, your food would and then and then uh people that are in the industry use the argument as well, that will make your food cost more. It's like then make the food cost more, and then maybe people won't go out as much um to pay your servers properly. Because when I went to Australia, um, no, I tried to give someone a tip once and they were just like, um, okay, like whatever. And I'm like, What? Like that is super fucking weird. Um, yeah, but you know, when I was a server, it's like I would have days where I was making no tips and my coworkers would be like, Oh, that's really shitty. I'm like, no, I wasn't expecting any because I'm like not on my game today. I'm hungover, I don't want to be here, and I think I'm making it very known to these people I don't want to be here, so I don't expect shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And the other thing is, I was just gonna say, and then sometimes I'm on my game and it's a really great day. So, like, and and I'm sorry, just one more thing. Servers do get upset when it's like you don't have a table that tips well or at all, right? And it's like what I think that servers need to understand is it's like you might have those tables that don't tip good or don't tip at all, but it all works out in the end because then you're gonna have a great tipper and that's gonna make up for the person that didn't tip. Like, does it still suck? Yes. But what I would do is I wouldn't look at it. If someone gave me cash and said, no change, okay, as long as there's enough, like I can skim it and there's enough to cover the bill, it's in my pocket. They pay by debit. I hold the receipt down while it's printing, rip it, and put it directly in my pocket so that I don't know until the end of my shift what happened. Because every time that I was looking at it, I was getting I didn't think I was getting mad, but internally I was. And then my service was declining as the day went on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's like, don't look at it because it really it's an option. You're gonna have a little bit of a better day because you got some tips, but you're still gonna get your paycheck with your hourly pay. I am not talking about servers in America. I cannot, um, in in the United States of America, I cannot comprehend the fact that a lot of you are on $2 an hour. That is not how it is up here in Canada. So I'm not talking about you guys because I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I I cannot understand. Did you know like MATLAB is a matter of weeks in the States?
SPEAKER_00That's insane.
SPEAKER_02Weeks. Like, I just I don't understand why like people are treated so horribly, but then turn around, and the president is like, We are amazing, and it's like you treat everyone. Like shit, unless they have a billion dollars sitting in their pocket.
SPEAKER_00Like, you know, to be quite honest, can't go into the topic of him because I was just about to ramble on about a few different topics, and I'm like, can't because I'm just I'm tired, and you know what? It's not my country, even though it affects all of us. I'm sorry I didn't go into it. I can't.
SPEAKER_02That's okay. I'll reel back. I'm gonna go back to the tipping thing because did you know? So if you go to Starbucks, they allow tipping at their restaurants. But if you go to a Starbucks that is inside of a grocery store, they don't allow tipping.
SPEAKER_00I have noticed that.
SPEAKER_02Somebody tried to, I was outside of one uh the other day and somebody ordered like a whole bunch of drinks, and they said, I want to give you a tip because you just made like these 15 drinks or whatever it was, and they were like, Oh, we can't accept tips. And even I was like, I'm sorry, you can't accept tips, and they're like, No, because they're technically a department of the grocery store, and the grocery store can't give tips. So even though the Starbucks employees at the grocery store locations are doing the exact same job as the other ones at the other locations, at the standalone locations, they're not allowed to take tips. That is insane.
SPEAKER_00Interesting. Because I did know when I was talking, something happened a long time ago at a grocery store Safeway. And I think I called corporate, it was something about my drink or something. I don't know, it wasn't that deep. Um, and they were like, well, they're not like a Starbucks employee, but they're like trained by us, but they're like they're actually hired through them. And I was like, What? Like that's so weird. And yeah, just when you said that, I was like, whoa, yeah, it's never asked me to tip when I'm there. That's so bizarre.
SPEAKER_02It also like you can't use your stars there, like it's just its own, it's its own thing. And I don't know, I'm whatever.
SPEAKER_00On the topic of Starbucks, can I just point out to everyone that even though they're an evil corporation, they're cheaper now than just regular coffee stores. Um, I get a venti iced uh no, hold on, hold on. A venti iced latte with six pumps of I didn't ask for six pumps. They put that in and it's delicious. Six pumps of sugar-free caramel syrup. It makes it just not taste like sugar free at that point. I don't know. I guess more means less chemicals. Um and it's 688 and it's almost $10 at the store across
Starbucks Pricing And Grocery Sticker Shock
SPEAKER_00from at the like just regular old coffee shop near my work, and it's a smaller size. So I don't know what timeline we shifted to where Starbucks became the more affordable option in this story, but here we are. Crazy.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's because the small businesses can't afford it right now.
SPEAKER_00And like I'm talking specifically about Vancouver because like I think it's really the cost of rent that hikes these costs up, and places like corporations can deal with it because they're big corporations.
SPEAKER_02I I will say because you know they're buying a lot of it, so lattes, like I'm gonna say 60% of your drink when it comes to a latte, if not 70%, is milk. And milk alone right now has gone up ridiculously. I was buying, we go through quite a bit of milk. My husband's a big milk drinker, so I go through two bags because Southern Ontario we buy bags, which is four liters of milk. So we go through eight liters of milk every other week. And originally it was I think $525 for a bag of milk when it was like a good price. Now we're at about $6.50 here for a bag of milk. Like it's and that's just over the last four months, I want to say, five months that it's gone up that much.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So and in my like, if you have a small business that groceries are going up, so that just everything is going up on it, you need to add in that buffer, otherwise, you're gonna be increasing your price every other week, and your customers are gonna be like, what the fuck? You can't increase your price all the time. So they're gonna add in that buffer. So, but when you're a big corporation like all these other corporate places, like, yeah, they're gonna have to increase their prices, but not nearly as much as the small businesses because they've they already have that buffer, they already have that billions that they're making, plus they're selling all that other shit. Like it's well, and grocery prices fucked right now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like grocery prices. Okay, so I made a video before the weekend because I went and bought a whole bunch of veggies because we're making a veggie tray, and a cucumber was $2.99. And I was like, that's ridiculous, because like normally they're like 99 cents. And then my brother comments on the video going, they're 97 cents at Walmart. So I was like, Yeah, it's stupid to have gone to Safeway of all places to do my grocery shopping, but I just it was what's close to my work. Technically, there's a superstore along the way, but it's one of the it's just the biggest parking lot ever, and it was so full, and I'm like, no, I'm not braving superstore before work. Um, so whatever. Like, but then I was at Costco yesterday and I'm like, a three-pack is less than the one I got at Costco. Or not Costco at Superstore. So it's like, okay, I'm not gonna shop it safely again in the future. But the veggie tray was a hit this weekend. We still have quite a bit, but I was like, well, whatever's left on that, I'm just gonna incorporate into our week this week and like grill them up or whatever. Um, but yeah, Costco yesterday cost uh like an insane amount, $387, but we had $90 something dollars off of our bill. Um and if I had done it through Instacart, it would have only come at $250. So we got a lot more stuff, but it's like once I saw the deals in person and the price difference in person compared to Instacart, we got way more. Like I got a pack of uh not sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds. And part of me is like, am I gonna go through that because seeds are so high in calorie that I'm like, it's hard to stay in a calorie deficit when you're incorporating seeds into your diet. But I was like, well, pumpkin seeds are good for you and there's protein in it, and it's just like a topping, and then I got a big pack of walnuts because like I do I need a big pack of walnuts? No, but when you compare the price of getting small ones in a regular store to then in Costco, I'm like, well, I'll never have to get them again. Hopefully, I do it before they expire or go stale. I'm trying to make not pumpkin pie, um, carrot cake overnight oats with chia seeds. I'm really trying to find a recipe I super like, but then try and make it my own. It's very hard. But I love carrot cake. Let me know what it would be when you're gonna do it. I love carrot cake. Or I would love, I would love to incorporate cream cheese into it, but I just feel like that's just adding calories for something you're barely gonna taste in it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, fuck it, do it.
SPEAKER_00I just don't know if I want to add protein powder or not.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I yeah, I want to do carrot cake overnight oats too. Actually, I have been doing overnight oats over the last like two weeks. That's amazing. I I have been loving it, except I am out,
Overnight Oats And Protein Powder Drama
SPEAKER_02I'm finally out of protein powder. Both my Bioex and my Revolution protein powder, both of them gone. And my mom had good protein, like the big bag from Costco. She was like, Well, let's try it. I hate it. I don't know if there's people out there who like good protein. I do not like it. My mom's like, Yeah, this is good. My husband's like, yeah, this is good. I'm like, this is disgusting.
SPEAKER_00But you use those protein powders in cooking because then you don't taste them.
SPEAKER_02No, it's this one I can. It has like because that's what I did when I had like the premier powder one. I just put it into like my baking and all that stuff. This one might be better with baking it, but in the protein powder or in the overnight oats, I still taste it, and it's got that like aftertaste, like that diet aftertaste, and I just can't get past it. So I've told Brandon I need to just get a new box or bottle or whatever of um, probably just gonna get the revolution vanilla cake one again. Um, but we made like a peaches and cream one, which I really liked. I've made a cherry cheesecake one that I've really, yeah, cherry cheesecake one that I really liked. Um, I did a banana bread one that was really good. Uh, but compare going back to the comparing the prices, I go to loblaws after the gym just because they're like right next to each other, but I don't actually like going to that loblaws. And when I go into that one, their goat cheese for like the little package it or even just the standard package, but the little package is eight dollars. Or I can get two big packages at Costco for 10 bucks. So it's like in comparison, it's ridiculous. But I mean the price at Costco has definitely still gone up because not this past grocery trip, but the trip before that when we went through, it was like 450 bucks for us to do our groceries that week. Mind you, we did need to get like the big things that you don't always get, like the laundry detergent and like some cleaning supplies and like that type of stuff. Um, garbage bags, yada yada, yada. So, but easily that was about a hundred bucks right there. And like there's definitely some extra curriculars that I could cut out, but I don't want to because that's mostly just my Alani's. But um yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know, I don't think that the companies, any companies listen to our podcast, but premier protein, if you're listening to us, I don't drink you anymore. Why? Because of your cost. Like that's ridiculous. I could just buy a whole thing, a tub of protein powder, and it'll get me further than that. And uh the thing I was gonna interrupt you about was I was gonna ask you to make the carrot cake overnight oats. You add cinnamon and um God, cinnamon nutmeg and something else. And I was like, I wonder if the churro protein powder would actually be good because it's like cinnamon sugar in a way, would be good in that. Because I was gonna use this something like good protein um vanilla that I had just so that it's plain, but I think that like maybe that might be good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that would be good. Or um if you're talking revolutionary, well, you already have that one, but they also have a gingerbread one that would probably be really good too.
SPEAKER_00That would be, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think you could do half a scoop of ginger, half a scoop of churro.
SPEAKER_00I wonder if I'll still be able to do the carrot cake without having any ginger.
SPEAKER_02Probably. I would say so.
SPEAKER_00Is there ginger in pumpkin spice? Because I have a pumpkin spice thing.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, you could just use pumpkin spice instead of that stuff because it's all the same seasoning. People just call it pumpkin spice to make it like basic white bitch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But it's all the same shit.
SPEAKER_00That's funny. Um, we've talked a lot about me. How have things been going with you? Like, you have so much to say.
SPEAKER_02I thought I heard the door turning and I was like, oh, I might be hearing the door turning. Harper! Probably. Um, so on the note of overnight oats, so yeah, I've been eating the overnight oats and I have really liked them. And that was over the last two or three weeks that we've been doing the overnight oats. Um, first of all, I love it because uh it keeps me full all morning, which is the biggest shock. Like I was eating, I was having um like an egg sandwich or whatever, and
Carbs For Energy Versus Daily Bloat
SPEAKER_02like an apple and like something else in the mornings, but then by like at 10:30, 11 o'clock, I'm hungry like before like when I want to have my lunch. So I started having these overnight oats. Actually, I started having a bagel instead of like uh an English muffin for my breakfast sandwiches, and that was starting to keep me fuller for longer, but then I was like, well, I want to try these overnight oats, and honestly, I just haven't been adding the chia seeds in it. I've just been doing like the oats and protein powder and whatnot, and it's been good. The only time I haven't liked it is when I started using the good protein. It's that's what's really made it go downhill. Um, so that was over the last couple weeks. Now, over the last like three or four days, which I can't remember if I told you this or not. I remember typing out a message, but then I think I deleted it because I was like, I don't think I'm ready to talk about this yet. Um, I have started focusing on low carb. Um, and there was a few things that shifted that way. I did post a video earlier earlier this week talking about how like I know I'm struggling with this and I'm struggling with this. And I just know that like at the start of this year, when I was, I wasn't focusing on low carb, but just naturally with what the meals I was planning, it just happened to be lower carbs and I was feeling better and I wasn't bloated, and the scale was going down. But then when I spoke to my therapist and when I spoke to my doctor and I said I don't have a lot of energy levels in the morning, they were like, You're not getting enough carbs for you to have that energy in the morning. And I was like, Okay, that makes sense. So then that's when I started having the bagels with my breakfast sandwich, and now I've switched to the overnight oats, and it keeps me full and it does I am focused. Like I am 100% noticing that difference when it comes to the carbs. However, the scale isn't dropping. I am crazy bloated like all day. Like my body just doesn't feel good about it. And I know that uh, and I was starting, I posted the video. I can't remember if it was last week or this week. I'm pretty sure it was last week where I posted talking about stuff. And immediately I know I texted you about this. Immediately, everybody became doctors. Like immediately the entire comment section is, well, I think it's this and I think it's this and I think it's this and I think it's this. And it's like one person's comment is contradicting another person's comment and that type of thing. So I was like, I'm not even, I am not paying attention to any of these comments because I didn't, I'm that's not what it was for. It was more for just a brain dump and trying to like figure out my stuff. So a couple things that I'm doing, I do agree that there is some insulin resistance slash possible PCOS, which is now PMOS stuff happening. And I do want to go to uh my OB about it. The last time I went to somebody about this was like I don't know, when did you and I start talking? So it was probably like six years ago-ish when I started. But at that time was that doctor that like was a garbage doctor, right? Yeah, and at that time it was like, okay, we're gonna send you to an ultra for an ultrasound. Oh, there's no cysts on your ovaries, it can't be PCOS. But it's like I had all these other symptoms,
PCOS Clues And Insulin Resistance Talk
SPEAKER_02but nobody looking back on it, nobody went to do anything further with it, which is really frustrating. That I go to a doctor and I'm like, hey, I think I have this. It comes back, they say no, it's not that. Okay, but now what should have been next steps? You know what I mean? Like looking back on that moment, why did nobody go? But we'll run some other tests and find out what it is. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Dumb doctors.
SPEAKER_02So dumb. So at the time it was like, okay, I don't have that. So and then we just move on, you know what I mean? But now, since having Harper, like I do have an actual OB, so um, and I have to do that wonderful five-year test of getting a pop test done anyway. So uh I'm just gonna book that and talk to her about it then because the other thing, so there was a couple things that made me go, you know what, maybe this is something I need to revisit. Um, the first was I was talking to my friend and she was talking about we were talking, like, you know how girls just talk about like not girly stuff, like people always think it's like girly things, but we were talking about like how often you need to shave. And I had said how I showered that morning, but I was pissed because I forgot to shave my armpits while after my shower. And she was just like, Yeah, but if it was just like this one time, then it's fine. And I'm like, no, I could easily shave my armpits every day in the shower, like easily, yeah. And she was just like, What? And I'm like, yeah, and she's like, no, and shows me hers. And she was like, This is two weeks. Her two weeks is easily by my 2 p.m. that day. Like it was like night and days. So I'm like, okay, well, maybe there is some like higher levels of testosterone going on. And I I had this conversation and thoughts before I even posted online, so I was like, well, maybe there's some high level of testosterone going on because I also like shaving my face. I could shave my face every other day. Like I have hair that comes in down on my chin and like mustache. So um, I was like, I I know I have something going on, maybe it's higher testosterone. So I went to Google and I started looking at that. But then Google was like, well, it may not be testosterone levels, it could be PCOS. And I'm like, yeah, that would make sense. And then as I'm reading the symptoms of the PCOS, one thing that came up was insulin resistance. And when I started going to the weight loss clinic, they said that I wasn't there's no problems with my AC1 levels, and there's no problems with my glucose, so I'm not actually I can't be pre-diabetic and I'm not diabetic, but in the glucose insulin part, they can see that my insulin is running on overtime. So there is something going on there, you know what I mean? So it's like I'm looking at all these symptoms, and I'm just sitting here like this is what would make sense, but it just got pushed aside. So, and it's one of those things where it's like maybe that so that's something I'm going to talk to my OB about and see if that's if it's that, or maybe there is just something else going on hormonal, like balance-wise. But either way, if this is the situation, everywhere shows it's like not necessarily low carb, but like it's the it's the process, like the heavily processed carbs, like the white bread, the white pasta, the rice, like that type of stuff. So I have switched from instead of just tracking my calories, it's tracking my carbs. And the good thing about this app that I I'm on is I originally was on a low, this is the other thing too. When I was at the weight loss clinic and started seeing this other nurse, she was saying that I needed to do low fat because I didn't have a gallbladder, which I think I brought up last year or the year before, whatever it was. And then I was just Googling that the other day as well because if you're doing low carb, you have to increase your other macros. So I was doing some Googling on that, and I'm like, nowhere on here does it say that you need to do low fat once your gallbladder is removed. You need to do low fat for the first like month to two months to get your body used to fats again after your gallbladder has been removed. But once it's healed, you can like live off of cheeseburgers if you want, and it's not gonna do anything. So I was like, I can increase my fat then. Like, you know what I mean? Like it's just been one of those, it's just I don't know, and I'm kind of alone on it because this has just been the last like three weeks, really the last week, and my next weight loss appointment isn't not this week, but the week after. And I still have to get in with my OB because again, that was just a thing that came up this past week. So I don't know. I'm like, I'm gonna go switch to low carb, and it can't hurt. Like, you know what I mean? Like, that's even without the help or any or the official diagnosis or whatever, like it's not gonna hurt. And on top of that, it's like I'm not going no carb, and I am not doing it the way that I did, like, I'm not going keto like I did, where I'm proud of myself for only eating 10 carbs in a day. Like that, it was toxic, it was bad. He also wanted me to starve myself for three days, like it just didn't make any sense what was being told then. And on top of that, it was like you need to do this just to lose weight. Like there was no other reason to do it. But I feel like being down 100 pounds and being stuck the way I am, and I've been stuck even on the GLP1 medications for a year now, there's something more, and I just need to get past that point, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so I totally agree with you with the low carb thing because, like, you know, like if you're talking about like bread pasta, like things like that that you're like cutting down on, but you're still having your vegetables and like maybe eating potatoes or sweet potatoes, it's like, yeah, like it's just that you're going more like obviously, like, I hate like naming things, but I we did talk about the slightly like a week ago because I was talking about how I was wanting to go more lower carb, but um uh sorry, I've now I just lost my train of thought. Um, it's not toxic at all, and it's more towards like the Mediterranean diet in a way. Like, that's what I was saying. I hate putting names on things, but it's like an in-betweener. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I so the good thing about the app that I'm using right now. Oh, yeah, that's what I was gonna say. The good thing about the app that I'm using right now is when I was you can select the type of like lifestyle or diet that you're doing. And before I had it low fat, but my focus was calories. So, like this part, I don't know if you can see it, but in the center where there's the circle, it used to be how many calories you had in a day. Um, and now that I've switched to low carb, it has now switched it to how many carbs in a day. And when I'm focusing on carbs, I'm more focusing on like glycemic index. So, like if I'm having carbs, it needs to be on the low glycemic index, which there's not really a good app I'm finding. Buzz money race to measure that. So uh, but the good thing about it, so as I said before in 2018, when I was told to go keto, it was have whatever you want, whatever you want, however much you want, as long as it's low carb, which as we've already talked about, I would sit there and eat an entire low carb lasagna and wonder why I'm not losing weight. So, because at the end of the day, like I still like even though the carbs is what's helping with digestion and it's like how my body is storing its sugars and all that stuff, fat loss is still calories in, calories out. Like that science is still there. So I still have the calories at the bottom. And just naturally, by focusing on having less calories or having less carbs, my calories are just actually hitting the point, which is nice instead of before, where it was like, I'm gonna set my goal to like 18. Calories, and then I would eat 2000, 2300, like that type of thing, versus now, switch since switching to carbs, even if I go over my carbs a little bit, I'm still in my calorie deficit, and I'm not eating nearly as much carbs as I was before because it's like I was told you need to eat more carbs, and then I just carbs, it's fine, I can eat it because I needed more carbs. So I'm really struggling on trying to find the balance. Um, that I need.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's interesting, even having the balance of like overnight oats, for example, because I was looking at the caloric intake for the oats itself with the chia seeds, with the milk that has to go in there, then the yogurt and all this stuff. And I was like, oh, there's like lots of calories in this stuff, and then like adding the nuts to it, like because I'm gonna put walnuts with it. Um, what's a carrot cake without some walnuts? Um absolutely, and it's just it's crazy. So then it's like, well, now I'm gonna have to figure out, okay, for the rest of the day, what am I eating so that I'm not gonna go over my um calories? I'm like the macros, like okay, my carb intake is kind of crazy, especially for someone that's trying to be low carb. Um it's pretty much even with my protein, but my focus right now, especially through my dietitian, is just to get minimum a hundred grams. Actually, see, she said 75, but a minimum a hundred grams of protein a day. Um, yeah, it's protein and fiber that I think about.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yeah, I'm the same. So even though it's like, I don't know, I I'm I'm just making adjustments, which is the harder thing to do. You know what I mean? And it's like I'm not going no carb. I just think back to that moment in 2018 where I was so proud of myself for eating less than 10 grams of carbs in a day. And I look at my goals right now, my goal is 90 in a day, and that's low carb. You know what I mean? Like it just Yeah.
SPEAKER_00When you're doing this, the calorie calculator, do you put in your exercise into it?
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_00So little to no exercise for me being I put 42 because my breathing's down. Um, five foot eight and 328 pounds, little to no exercise to maintain my weight is 2636. Extreme weight loss is 1636. Um, and then weight loss is 2136, which is what I'm at. If I put in even okay, I I hate how it says exercise one to three times a week, exercise is four to five times a week, because I'm like, well, I do four, but I don't want to do four to five because then it just seems like excessive. So I'll do look one to three, and it says then my maintenance is three thousand twenty, and extreme weight loss is where the calories are that I am at. And I hate the word extreme, yeah, but the thing is, is like honestly, oh god, you know what? How do you deal with gym hunger? You know what? Like, let's just skip that. It is insane how hungry I am when I wake up now, because I go to the gym after after work, so then before I go to bed. And oh my god, I wake up feeling like I could eat. Yeah, like I could binge.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I um I get like that too. And it's uh honestly, I was told well, first of all, I I go to the gym in the morning. So for me in the morning, it's like I come home and then I get harper ready, like I'm just go, go, go, go, go, and I don't think about it until I'm at work and then I eat something. But then when I told my coach or um the doctor or nurse about that at the weight loss
Gym Hunger And Food Is Fuel
SPEAKER_02clinic, they were like, you need to be getting some protein in as soon as like gym protein. So if it's the weekend, I come home straight from the gym, I eat my overnight oats. If it's during the week and I know I'm gonna be in a rush, I come home and I grab the protein shake out of my fridge and drink it. Like that's the main thing I do. Um on the days, uh, it's hard for me to relate because I don't really go in the evening, so I don't have that. But like if I would say if you know for the next morning, have that overnight oats ready for the next morning so that it's that's what you grab and go because as we said before, it's filling, it's got the carbs, it's got the protein for good uh recovery, and definitely have something after you worked out, like either 20 minutes before your workout or up to 20 minutes after your workout, that will help with the hunger as well. Um, if you eat something after working out, and I have that actually as a completely different um category in my spots. Uh, I have breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning snack, afternoon snack, dessert, and workout fuel. So if I've had a snack specifically because I'm going to the gym or because uh after the gym, that I count that as workout fuel. If it's not a snack, it's not, it's a completely different thing on its own. So that I feel I don't know, this sounds like diet culture here, but it's it sounds like a validated food to eat, if that makes sense. That isn't just some snack that you're having. You needed it for this workout, and that's not to say everything else isn't validated, it's just how my brain operates. Like I have very much over the like since stopping my GLP1 medication, I have very much been trying to push myself with food is fuel. And it's like, yes, you can enjoy food, and yes, you can have food and celebration manners, but like food is fuel and that's it. And like Saturday night, uh I had some friends come over and we had sausages and pasta salad, and we just put veggies and dip on the table to have as our veggie with it. And then afterwards, we were having like my friend brought a cake, like a small cake from Walmart. And I want to say it was like like one of the little eight-inch cakes, and you know, normal you just split it into four. So like everybody took a quarter, but I just said like that day I was telling them because we eat with them all the time and we hang out with them all the time. I'm moving over to low carb. So I checked my app. I knew I had X amount of carbs for the day. I cut a piece off and I found out that I could have a quarter of what they were having. So my quarter got split into another quarter, which was fine. I was it was four. I was four, it wasn't a big deal, like I was already full from dinner, like I just needed a taste of the cake, anyways, because this food is fuel. That's the way my brain was thinking of it. But I come to the table and automatically my husband was like, That's all you're going to have. And my other friend was like, and it wasn't like they were trying to be unsupportive, like you're just this is just where your brain goes, you know what I mean? And I get it, I'm not upset about any of it. But my husband was like, That's all you're having. And my one friend was like, Lisa, like, have a piece, it's fine. And I'm like, guys, I'm good. Like, I don't need it. And then it was my other friend who, anyways, I'll tell you later, but it was my other friend who was like, guys, we're gonna support her. It's okay, like she's fine. And it was just like it's moments like that where it's like you're being pressured to do these things that you don't even realize you're being pressured to do, type thing. And it's just like I just I'm I'm in the mindset of yes, I can enjoy these foods, and yes, I can have these things, and it's okay if it's only two bites, because for me, food is fuel, and it just that is what it needs to be because it's it's a struggle. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00This is an attack on your friends, by the way, when I say this, because what your friends did is exactly what everyone in the world does, so that's not it's not abnormal. Yeah, um, but I really wish that people would just pay attention to their own fucking plate. Yeah, because it's like there's no reason to comment on it. And it's like because they look at it as though okay, I know I'm directly talking about your friends here, but like literally this has happened to me with multiple people in my life. Like it's nothing, and not even like I don't know about you because it wasn't my situation, but it's like I'm not even mad at them because it's such a normal experience. But it's like I just wish that it's like you see someone that has normally eaten this quarter of the cake all the time, and now they're only eating a little portion, and they think, oh, she's punishing herself. And it's like, no, I'm just being mindful now. Like before I wasn't being mindful, I was just eating it to eat it, and now it's like I have a small piece, so I'm gonna enjoy it a little bit more. I'm just you're just you're so used to um like being like seeing me that's under the food control, you know, like under mind control from food. Like I don't even know how to explain it properly. But it's like now I'm aware and I'm yeah, it's not a big deal. Also, like people develop things. Like if someone said that to me, I'm like, well, now I'm a diabetic. So like shut up.
SPEAKER_02I know, and it's one of those things where it's like my brain went to, am I punishing myself? But then I was like, no, that's not, I'm not. But then the other thing is it's like the other thought is like they also feel like they could never, like, you know what I mean? Like it's like they they don't want that, they want the full peace. And it's like, I'm not I'm not sitting here trying to make you feel guilty for eating your quarter. I I I'm just having a quarter of my quarter. Like, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Like it's just I don't know what your daily caloric intake was, you know? And like also maybe you're allowed more, maybe sorry. Oh bless you. Maybe you're allowed more than me, you know, or maybe you haven't eaten that much today, or maybe you don't care. Maybe you're like one of my old friends that was 96 pounds soaking wet and doesn't gain weight. She actually used to take weight gainers, you know. Like we all live in different worlds. So it's like just because just because I'm choosing to not have something big doesn't mean you can't, or vice versa. Yeah, yeah, totally. And don't take this one experience as an every experience thing. It's like maybe next time I will eat quarter of the cake.
SPEAKER_02If I had like no carbs today, then yes, I wouldn't eat that entire cake. Um, but these are like like the closest friends ever. I know it's one of those.
SPEAKER_00And then no, you wouldn't shit talk your friends like that. Like I'm saying, like when I'm even saying I just mean in general. Yeah, I'm literally not even talking to them. I love your friends. You have a great group of friends, and like it's literally everyone in society does this. Yeah, even bad people do it.
SPEAKER_02And I'm not even like, and that's what I mean. I'm not upset with them or anything. It was just that, hey, there's here's the thing that happened, but it's like one of them's my husband. So it's like Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Also, if you were having a problem with your friends, I highly doubt you would have announced it on the podcast and we'd be having voice notes right now about it.
SPEAKER_02So that is true. I would have I would have messaged you and been like, you will never guess what this bitch said.
SPEAKER_00And that did not happen, so everything's good. Oh man. On the note of PCOS, we did get an email from one of our listeners about how PCOS is changing like the whole criteria of it, I guess. Um, I haven't looked that much into it. Lisa has looked a bit more into it, and we will definitely talk about that probably on like the next episode of the episode after. Um, but I did want to just like mention that Lisa said something like that you'd use different wording. So like we will talk more about that um on another episode, but also feel free to just look into it yourself to like you know, educate yourself and or just wait for us to educate you. Lisa is gonna educate
PCOS Criteria Update And Listener Note
SPEAKER_00you.
SPEAKER_02Oh, good to know. Right. See, and I want to do that.
SPEAKER_00I do want to, I feel like I want to wait a bit because if I'm going for tests and everything, like and talking to my doctor about it, I want to hold off and it'll be good to like talk about the changes, and then as we go along, you can like tell us like what's going on with you. I think that'd be really great.
SPEAKER_02I just I don't know, even if it's not that, like I just want to know what's going on. You know what I mean? Like, why is this why is it so hard?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, and how are you doing with like meal prep and everything? Is like you're doing your overnight oats? Are you doing stuff for your lunches and dinner, or is that still a bit of a struggle?
SPEAKER_02Uh well, dinner is planned, like, and I just buy the ingredients for it, and then Brandon usually just makes dinner, and then left uh lunches typically leftovers the next day, or veggies and dip, or that type of thing. I what it was a struggle this past week because my husband was on a fishing trip. Excuse me. My husband was on a fishing trip, so my meal planning just like fell off the rails. I probably didn't eat vegetables for like five days, and it was in my fridge. I could have eaten them, but I didn't, and my body punished me for it because even though I was taking my benefiber benefiber, I could not poop. It was not, it was not happening, and it's just like been so uncomfortable. But then it's like today I finally had a good poop, not to, you know, get this gross, but it's just like my body is like, yeah, finally. Like started eating vegetables again. Like it just goes to show like when I don't do these things, like I I'm having feet problems right now, but I also been have haven't been having bananas and I haven't been taking my potassium. So it's like, duh, of course you're having feet cramps and feet issues because you're not hydrating properly and you're not taking potassium in any form. So like Yeah. Um, I don't remember what the original question was, but those are the complaints that I had over the last week.
SPEAKER_00You know, it's funny that you say that about like a pooping schedule and stuff. Like, since I've been adding all the raw veggies and stuff to my diet, I noticed that I wasn't able to go to the washroom very easily. And I was like, what the fuck? I'm like, I'm eating more fiber and stuff. Like, why am I not able to go? And then I was like, I I think of like my body sometimes as a cartoon. Maybe it's because of Mrs. Frizzle. Um, but I'm like, I'm like, oh, like picturing my stomach inspecting every vegetable that's come down. I've never seen this before. I don't know how to process this. Because it's like all these things, and then all of a sudden a Slurpee comes in and it's like, ah, yes, shower me in your sugar.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00That's my stomach gremlin.
SPEAKER_02Oh my goodness. Do you have goals for this week or are you just like flying by the seat of your pants?
SPEAKER_00Well, since we're probably not gonna be able to record for a couple weeks, because as I said, I'm going on another cruise next this upcoming Saturday. My goal is to go to the gym at least four times on the cruise. Uh, which I don't think I'm gonna have a problem with seven.
SPEAKER_03Seven. Oh, that's good. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00The first two days, like it's the weekend that's normally my stop time, anyway, because this week I'm gonna go Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Right. And then yeah, we leave in the afternoon on Saturday. So Saturday is probably a write-off. I might do it on Sunday, and then also like I might do the pool as one of my workouts
Cruise Gym Goals Heavy App Closing
SPEAKER_00because I did that last time. It just depends on how crowded the ship is. The last one wasn't as crazy crowded. This one might be though. I know a lot of rooms are sold out, right? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I went I did go to the gym five times last week.
SPEAKER_00Amazing. I love that we can keep up with each other on Heavy.
SPEAKER_02I love it too. I love Heavy, honestly. So I was Heavy reached out to me actually because I started tagging them and stuff, and they were like, You should apply to be an affiliate. And I'm like, I am an affiliate, I just never finished the paperwork. This is tedious, and once I do it, then it becomes a thing that I actually have to do. Like, you know what I mean? So anyways, but um yeah, I love heavy. Heavy, heavy is the best, like, and I like that it's like you can either do like weight tracking or like not body weight, but like lifting weights. Um, but it can also be like if you're just going for an evening walk or whatever. Like, if you ever if you see me with a random new title, it's because it was an impromptu workout and I actually had no routine for it, and it's just I'm just adding stuff in, like, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I have a couple exercises that I actually just posted as private, like one was the swim that I did on the cruise, just because I'm like, I don't know if I calculated it right, like I just did time that I was like, I just guessed the distance, right? But I'm like, whatever. Like, so I just kept it as private because I don't even know if it's fully accurate. Um, yeah, but yeah, I just it's such a great app. And like it is kind of funny though when sometimes my Apple Watch is like, it seems like you're exercising for like the fitness app, and I'm like, I'm already tracking it through Heavy, like leave me alone. I know, right?
SPEAKER_02Because I realized one time I doubled twice, yeah, it doubled it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I love Heavy. If you're not using Heavy, it's well, it is free. Like, I use the paid one, and it's like one app that I I do renew the subscription, like, and it's one of those things at the very start where I was like, I don't think I'm gonna buy the app because what if I end up stopping going to the gym? And now here I am like three years later and I'm still using it.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, it's spelled H E V Y, and that was the one that I signed up when I first signed up. I was like, oh, it was like five dollars or something for the year. I don't remember. I said it on the podcast, and then it did up its price, but not by a crazy amount. However, um, I just paid for the lifetime subscription because I was supposed to renew and then I calculated, I'm like, well, that would be three years, it'll be paid for. And the thought did cross my mind, it's like, well, what if they shut down this app? And it's like, why would they? So I just signed up for the lifetime subscription, was which was like a hundred and something dollars.
SPEAKER_02And they're making change, like they're they are coming out with updates regularly. Like I you messaged me the other day saying how you wish that they would show, like, on your workout, what it is you're working out with the little dude um under your statistics. That's what it is. So then, like, as you're working out, you can see what you are. They recently added that as you're working out, it shows you what you're doing. So I have a feeling that will be coming later, but cool. I agree.
SPEAKER_00It's yeah, because like the one thing I don't do is like the abduction stuff because like for your hip and what we don't have that machine at work, so that's like completely white on my guy, and I don't do anything for the neck and I don't do my traps because I was like, I don't, I don't really want to work out my traps. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I kind of have like the same like four root or uh two routines that I just kind of cycle through, and then if I've done them enough, and then the dude has like no blue on him, I'm like, all right, time for a misfit where it's just whatever isn't blue, I'm gonna make it blue, which is probably what's gonna highlight on me tomorrow. So um like my child is having a time, so I should probably Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I have a nail appointment. Look how like long they're getting from there. But so I don't know what design to do. If you have any ideas, can you send me them in like the next 30 minutes? Because I have to send her photos, but I also said she's like send me some inspo photos, and I'm like, Yeah, but I'm also willing for you just to take the wheel because I'm like, I can't think of things like that, and that's how I deal with my hairdresser. I'm like, do what you want. That's how I ended up blonde.
SPEAKER_02Do you want spring vibes, summer vibes?
SPEAKER_00I don't even know. Well, I the thing is, is I'm gonna change them again within two weeks because I want them for pride to be something else for June. Uh but yeah. One minute.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. This was great. I really love the catch up. This was a lot also of like Lisa and I not having talked very much in the last like three weeks, uh, because life is crazy.
SPEAKER_02It was all valid. But anyway, yay! Yay! I had to get that in there before it ended.
SPEAKER_00Bye, everybody.
unknownBye, yay.
