This  "},{"startTime":92.8,"endTime":100.08,"body":"occurred in the late 1980s and 1990s. These "},{"startTime":92.8,"endTime":100.08,"body":"revolutionaries called for a transformation  "},{"startTime":100.08,"endTime":107.12,"body":"in the design of nursing programs for a revolution "},{"startTime":100.08,"endTime":107.12,"body":"to change the student-teacher relationship.  "},{"startTime":108.16,"endTime":115.92,"body":"In the humanistic educative model offered by "},{"startTime":108.16,"endTime":115.92,"body":"Dr. Bevis, curriculum is defined as interaction  "},{"startTime":115.92,"endTime":123.92,"body":"between teacher and student; therefore in this view, "},{"startTime":115.92,"endTime":123.92,"body":"the teacher-student relationship is the curriculum. "},{"startTime":124.96,"endTime":131.84,"body":"A phenomenological model offered by Drs. "},{"startTime":124.96,"endTime":131.84,"body":"Diekelmann and Ironside called for transformed  "},{"startTime":131.84,"endTime":138.24,"body":"relationship between teacher and student to "},{"startTime":131.84,"endTime":138.24,"body":"open the possibility for learning from one  "},{"startTime":138.24,"endTime":145.52,"body":"another through meaningful dialogue. This month "},{"startTime":138.24,"endTime":145.52,"body":"we celebrate one of the most influential leaders  "},{"startTime":145.52,"endTime":153.44,"body":"of the NLN Curriculum Revolution, Dr. Christine "},{"startTime":145.52,"endTime":153.44,"body":"Tanner. Nurse educators today may know Dr.  "},{"startTime":153.44,"endTime":160.08,"body":"Tanner as the scholar who conceptualized and "},{"startTime":153.44,"endTime":160.08,"body":"developed the Tanner Model of Clinical Judgment, "},{"startTime":160.8,"endTime":167.84,"body":"a model used extensively today in nursing "},{"startTime":160.8,"endTime":167.84,"body":"programs to teach thinking like a nurse.  "},{"startTime":169.04,"endTime":174.72,"body":"But for those nurse educators who recall the "},{"startTime":169.04,"endTime":174.72,"body":"exhilarating days of the NLN Curriculum Revolution,  "},{"startTime":175.28,"endTime":182.88,"body":"Dr, Tanner's presence, her generosity and kindness, "},{"startTime":175.28,"endTime":182.88,"body":"and her thoughtful and reflective publications  "},{"startTime":182.88,"endTime":188.08,"body":"deepened our understanding of the "},{"startTime":182.88,"endTime":188.08,"body":"limits of traditional pedagogies  "},{"startTime":188.08,"endTime":195.04,"body":"and opened new possibilities for the ways in "},{"startTime":188.08,"endTime":195.04,"body":"which nurse educators educate our students . "},{"startTime":196.64,"endTime":205.2,"body":"In 1987, Dr. Tanner helped to organize the first "},{"startTime":196.64,"endTime":205.2,"body":"NLN conference to proclaim that a curriculum  "},{"startTime":205.2,"endTime":213.68,"body":"revolution was underway. Over 400 nurse educators "},{"startTime":205.2,"endTime":213.68,"body":"gathered in Philadelphia with Tracy Chapman's  "},{"startTime":213.68,"endTime":221.52,"body":"hit song, \"Talking About a Revolution,\" playing "},{"startTime":213.68,"endTime":221.52,"body":"overhead. Speaker after speaker detailed the  "},{"startTime":221.52,"endTime":228.88,"body":"compelling reasons for a major transformation "},{"startTime":221.52,"endTime":228.88,"body":"in the what and how of nursing curricula.  "},{"startTime":229.92,"endTime":237.28,"body":"Not surprisingly, the call to revolution was "},{"startTime":229.92,"endTime":237.28,"body":"not embraced by everyone. In Dr. Tanner's words..."},{"startTime":265.2,"endTime":273.84,"body":"But clearly momentum was gathered at  "},{"startTime":273.84,"endTime":280.48,"body":"those early meetings for a major transformation of "},{"startTime":273.84,"endTime":280.48,"body":"what counted as an acceptable nursing curriculum.  "},{"startTime":281.52,"endTime":288.16,"body":"For many nurse educators who cautiously "},{"startTime":281.52,"endTime":288.16,"body":"embraced the NLN's invitation to reconsider  "},{"startTime":288.72,"endTime":296.08,"body":"both the issues in the health care system and the "},{"startTime":288.72,"endTime":296.08,"body":"dilemmas encountered in teaching students to think  "},{"startTime":296.08,"endTime":301.36,"body":"in context, there was a sense that "},{"startTime":296.08,"endTime":301.36,"body":"something important and exciting was  "},{"startTime":301.36,"endTime":308.64,"body":"happening.
