When you and I met last week  "},{"startTime":144.8,"endTime":150.48,"body":"we immediately hit it off. You said the word "},{"startTime":144.8,"endTime":150.48,"body":"preceptor and I was done. I was like, yes, this  "},{"startTime":150.48,"endTime":155.68,"body":"is going to be fantastic and our conversation just "},{"startTime":150.48,"endTime":155.68,"body":"started rolling from there. So I'm really looking  "},{"startTime":155.68,"endTime":162.64,"body":"forward to digging into this with you a bit. And "},{"startTime":155.68,"endTime":162.64,"body":"you know, what I wanted to talk about to kind of  "},{"startTime":162.64,"endTime":168.48,"body":"set us up a little bit is you know there's a wide "},{"startTime":162.64,"endTime":168.48,"body":"continuum of transition to practice. When we say  "},{"startTime":168.48,"endTime":176.32,"body":"transition to practice it feels like there's just "},{"startTime":168.48,"endTime":176.32,"body":"a huge range, right, so it can range from what  "},{"startTime":176.32,"endTime":183.52,"body":"learners first step put into the classroom "},{"startTime":176.32,"endTime":183.52,"body":"to when they transition to their new grad  "},{"startTime":183.52,"endTime":188.8,"body":"residency programs and then even beyond because "},{"startTime":183.52,"endTime":188.8,"body":"there's even a transition so if you were to change  "},{"startTime":188.8,"endTime":193.92,"body":"into a different nursing specialty or a different "},{"startTime":188.8,"endTime":193.92,"body":"clinical area. That's a whole other transition  "},{"startTime":193.92,"endTime":198.4,"body":"even if you're an experienced nurse. So I "},{"startTime":193.92,"endTime":198.4,"body":"think this transition to practice can be huge  "},{"startTime":199.76,"endTime":204.48,"body":"and I think there's also several roles that "},{"startTime":199.76,"endTime":204.48,"body":"kind of touch this transition of practice along  "},{"startTime":204.48,"endTime":211.04,"body":"the way. And those roles can be anywhere from "},{"startTime":204.48,"endTime":211.04,"body":"academic nurse educator to clinical instructor  "},{"startTime":211.04,"endTime":220.16,"body":"preceptor and then your professional development "},{"startTime":211.04,"endTime":220.16,"body":"clinical educators. And so because this is so big  "},{"startTime":220.16,"endTime":226.32,"body":"I'd like to just narrow down a little bit to "},{"startTime":220.16,"endTime":226.32,"body":"talk about two of these roles, so preceptors  "},{"startTime":226.32,"endTime":232.56,"body":"and clinical instructors. And in these two roles "},{"startTime":226.32,"endTime":232.56,"body":"we kind of see clinical instructors as being more  "},{"startTime":232.56,"endTime":237.52,"body":"on the academic side of things and then preceptors "},{"startTime":232.56,"endTime":237.52,"body":"being more on the practice side of things.  "},{"startTime":238.96,"endTime":244.88,"body":"So I'd like to just, if you can just share, just "},{"startTime":238.96,"endTime":244.88,"body":"kind of start us off sort of in a broad context,  "},{"startTime":245.92,"endTime":250.64,"body":"share how you see these two roles and maybe "},{"startTime":245.92,"endTime":250.64,"body":"how they intersect if you think that they do.  "},{"startTime":251.68,"endTime":256.72,"body":"Absolutely. Thanks for the opportunity. I love "},{"startTime":251.68,"endTime":256.72,"body":"talking about this stuff because it really is  "},{"startTime":257.52,"endTime":261.68,"body":"going to redefine our path forward for "},{"startTime":257.52,"endTime":261.68,"body":"our our entire industry and how we,  "},{"startTime":261.68,"endTime":268.48,"body":"how we bring people into the culture within "},{"startTime":261.68,"endTime":268.48,"body":"the hospitals organizations for nurses. And so  "},{"startTime":269.6,"endTime":275.84,"body":"you use the exact word of continuum and "},{"startTime":269.6,"endTime":275.84,"body":"a recognition that it takes a tribe of  "},{"startTime":276.4,"endTime":284.24,"body":"many resources to ensure our newest members are "},{"startTime":276.4,"endTime":284.24,"body":"set up for success. And so what it felt like is  "},{"startTime":284.24,"endTime":290.32,"body":"we started to really evaluate how do we really "},{"startTime":284.24,"endTime":290.32,"body":"transform our partnerships with our university  "},{"startTime":290.32,"endTime":296.32,"body":"partners but how do we transform our experience of "},{"startTime":290.32,"endTime":296.32,"body":"our newest team members to make sure we're setting  "},{"startTime":296.32,"endTime":302.4,"body":"them up for success? Because with vacancies and "},{"startTime":296.32,"endTime":302.4,"body":"shortages of staffing and resources so depleted,  "},{"startTime":302.4,"endTime":309.36,"body":"we wanted to bring team members into the, into "},{"startTime":302.4,"endTime":309.36,"body":"the departments, do it well, and set that team  "},{"startTime":309.36,"endTime":314.88,"body":"member up for long-term success and optimize "},{"startTime":309.36,"endTime":314.88,"body":"the outcomes with their patients from day one.  "},{"startTime":314.88,"endTime":321.68,"body":"And so in doing that, we needed to look at every "},{"startTime":314.88,"endTime":321.68,"body":"person, every role that had an intersection with  "},{"startTime":321.68,"endTime":327.2,"body":"that newest team member to make sure we're "},{"startTime":321.68,"endTime":327.2,"body":"setting them up for success from day one.  "},{"startTime":327.2,"endTime":332.32,"body":"What we realized is day one wasn't onboarding. Day "},{"startTime":327.2,"endTime":332.32,"body":"one started back when they were in nursing school  "},{"startTime":332.32,"endTime":337.52,"body":"and they were having clinical experiences "},{"startTime":332.32,"endTime":337.52,"body":"and that's why we say these preceptors  "},{"startTime":337.52,"endTime":344.08,"body":"truly are the strength of all educational "},{"startTime":337.52,"endTime":344.08,"body":"programs. And maybe we've not been paying as  "},{"startTime":344.08,"endTime":348.32,"body":"much attention as we maybe should have to this "},{"startTime":344.08,"endTime":348.32,"body":"group of people because they are really the  "},{"startTime":348.32,"endTime":353.52,"body":"the tip of the spear in how we're bringing "},{"startTime":348.32,"endTime":353.52,"body":"and investing in our newest team members."},{"startTime":355.68,"endTime":360.72,"body":"That's fantastic, and I love your analogy "},{"startTime":355.68,"endTime":360.72,"body":"of being tip of the spear because again,  "},{"startTime":360.72,"endTime":366.08,"body":"if you think about this continuum, there's a lot "},{"startTime":360.72,"endTime":366.08,"body":"of different people that touch this transitioning  "},{"startTime":366.08,"endTime":372.24,"body":"role, but the preceptor is like right at the "},{"startTime":366.08,"endTime":372.24,"body":"connection of patient care. Yeah. You know,  "},{"startTime":372.24,"endTime":379.44,"body":"they're the ones that are just making that final "},{"startTime":372.24,"endTime":379.44,"body":"right yeah they are bringing and translating all  "},{"startTime":379.44,"endTime":385.68,"body":"of the things that we hope to have embedded in "},{"startTime":379.44,"endTime":385.68,"body":"the educational model and then they're taking it,  "},{"startTime":385.68,"endTime":392.08,"body":"dilating into the very final taking it over "},{"startTime":385.68,"endTime":392.08,"body":"the finish line and bringing it to that patient  "},{"startTime":392.08,"endTime":396.32,"body":"and transitioning to a practice where "},{"startTime":392.08,"endTime":396.32,"body":"they are independent in their practice.  "},{"startTime":397.2,"endTime":400.96,"body":"They have so much to tell us about "},{"startTime":397.2,"endTime":400.96,"body":"how that education went though  "},{"startTime":400.96,"endTime":405.44,"body":"and how often are we tapping into them as the "},{"startTime":400.96,"endTime":405.44,"body":"resource and learning from, what it actually  "},{"startTime":405.44,"endTime":410.16,"body":"looks like when we start translating to ownership "},{"startTime":405.44,"endTime":410.16,"body":"of their practice and being on their own there."},{"startTime":412.56,"endTime":417.28,"body":"And you know, but I think about how "},{"startTime":412.56,"endTime":417.28,"body":"important this role of being a preceptor  "},{"startTime":418.0,"endTime":421.84,"body":"and making this connection for the person "},{"startTime":418.0,"endTime":421.84,"body":"that's transitioning into their practice  "},{"startTime":422.8,"endTime":429.84,"body":"to make this connection to patient care. "},{"startTime":422.8,"endTime":429.84,"body":"I think about how sometimes preparation  "},{"startTime":429.84,"endTime":436.56,"body":"to help our preceptors learn. How to educate can "},{"startTime":429.84,"endTime":436.56,"body":"really be sort of sometimes an afterthought and  "},{"startTime":436.56,"endTime":443.04,"body":"not by any fault of anybody or any program or any "},{"startTime":436.56,"endTime":443.04,"body":"organization, but their primary role is patient  "},{"startTime":443.04,"endTime":448.64,"body":"care, right. So the education piece kind of starts "},{"startTime":443.04,"endTime":448.64,"body":"to feel a little peripheral. I mean, how do you,  "},{"startTime":448.64,"endTime":454.88,"body":"how do you see that in your, in your role or in "},{"startTime":448.64,"endTime":454.88,"body":"your program? Yeah, that's critical and first I'd  "},{"startTime":454.88,"endTime":460.24,"body":"say that what we're doing right now is taking "},{"startTime":454.88,"endTime":460.24,"body":"a look at it's not just about how we educate,  "},{"startTime":460.24,"endTime":466.24,"body":"but it's how we engage with each learner in a very "},{"startTime":460.24,"endTime":466.24,"body":"unique way based on the style of that learner.  "},{"startTime":466.24,"endTime":471.2,"body":"And these are the soft skills. I don't know that "},{"startTime":466.24,"endTime":471.2,"body":"we've necessarily put the resources or the time  "},{"startTime":471.2,"endTime":477.12,"body":"into developing those with the preceptors that "},{"startTime":471.2,"endTime":477.12,"body":"they really understand how to engage differently  "},{"startTime":477.12,"endTime":482.24,"body":"depending on how the learner really is going to be "},{"startTime":477.12,"endTime":482.24,"body":"optimized. And this is where our partnerships with  "},{"startTime":482.24,"endTime":488.08,"body":"our university and programs can really help us "},{"startTime":482.24,"endTime":488.08,"body":"because that's the expertise on that side, but our  "},{"startTime":488.08,"endTime":493.68,"body":"preceptors, their expertise is in that department. "},{"startTime":488.08,"endTime":493.68,"body":"They understand that area and they understand how  "},{"startTime":493.68,"endTime":499.6,"body":"to deliver the care. They don't necessarily "},{"startTime":493.68,"endTime":499.6,"body":"all understand how to modify the way they're  "},{"startTime":499.6,"endTime":506.24,"body":"teaching or onboarding based on the very unique "},{"startTime":499.6,"endTime":506.24,"body":"learning styles of the different students. Yeah.  "},{"startTime":506.24,"endTime":511.52,"body":"So that's you know where you can be a great nurse. "},{"startTime":506.24,"endTime":511.52,"body":"We talk about this this a lot, right. You can be  "},{"startTime":511.52,"endTime":516.72,"body":"a great nurse, but it doesn't mean you're a good "},{"startTime":511.52,"endTime":516.72,"body":"educator or a good preceptor or a good any leader,  "},{"startTime":517.28,"endTime":525.44,"body":"right. So how do you identify like the skill "},{"startTime":517.28,"endTime":525.44,"body":"set for who might be the champion preceptors on  "},{"startTime":525.44,"endTime":531.28,"body":"these units? What are the things you look for in "},{"startTime":525.44,"endTime":531.28,"body":"those nurses? Absolutely and I want to be really  "},{"startTime":531.28,"endTime":537.92,"body":"transparent. Resources are really depleted "},{"startTime":531.28,"endTime":537.92,"body":"and what that used to look like may look very  "},{"startTime":537.92,"endTime":543.52,"body":"different now because it used to be someone who "},{"startTime":537.92,"endTime":543.52,"body":"is a very tenured nurse and maybe very much with  "},{"startTime":543.52,"endTime":550.56,"body":"lots of clinical expertise and that has shifted so "},{"startTime":543.52,"endTime":550.56,"body":"much with how much our staffing across the nation  "},{"startTime":550.56,"endTime":556.4,"body":"has been depleted. And so now what we're doing is "},{"startTime":550.56,"endTime":556.4,"body":"we're saying what are the communication style? Is  "},{"startTime":556.4,"endTime":561.44,"body":"this someone who seems to have a temperament "},{"startTime":556.4,"endTime":561.44,"body":"to be a strong communicator? Do they have a  "},{"startTime":561.44,"endTime":567.68,"body":"solid practice standard that we do trust and "},{"startTime":561.44,"endTime":567.68,"body":"do they have a willingness into developing  "},{"startTime":568.4,"endTime":573.52,"body":"you know the tools and the skills of another? And "},{"startTime":568.4,"endTime":573.52,"body":"so we're less inclined to pick necessarily always  "},{"startTime":573.52,"endTime":580.24,"body":"the most tenured team member and we've really "},{"startTime":573.52,"endTime":580.24,"body":"decided that we're going to be very willing  "},{"startTime":580.24,"endTime":584.96,"body":"to look at people less tenured but have strong "},{"startTime":580.24,"endTime":584.96,"body":"clinical practice skills and communication skills.  "},{"startTime":585.52,"endTime":591.84,"body":"It's shifting and we've had to evolve our "},{"startTime":585.52,"endTime":591.84,"body":"mental valleys so to speak that we used to have.  "},{"startTime":592.96,"endTime":599.6,"body":"You know, I would probably lean on picking the "},{"startTime":592.96,"endTime":599.6,"body":"the preceptor that asks the most questions, right.  "},{"startTime":600.16,"endTime":605.84,"body":"So it's not you know role modeling that you don't "},{"startTime":600.16,"endTime":605.84,"body":"know everything and that you know to ask the  "},{"startTime":605.84,"endTime":612.0,"body":"question that you know where to find the answer. "},{"startTime":605.84,"endTime":612.0,"body":"You know who to ask, who to engage can really  "},{"startTime":612.72,"endTime":617.28,"body":"I think be a huge benefit. And again, you're "},{"startTime":612.72,"endTime":617.28,"body":"talking about these you know what's historically  "},{"startTime":617.28,"endTime":622.32,"body":"been called soft skills. I feel like we probably "},{"startTime":617.28,"endTime":622.32,"body":"need a new name for them because they're  "},{"startTime":622.32,"endTime":630.48,"body":"pretty critical that's what we do and how we care "},{"startTime":622.32,"endTime":630.48,"body":"for our patients, never mind how we teach. But  "},{"startTime":630.48,"endTime":637.04,"body":"we'll have to have a second podcast talking "},{"startTime":630.48,"endTime":637.04,"body":"about brainstorming new words for this.  "},{"startTime":637.04,"endTime":642.88,"body":"Absolutely and you know, I just want to call "},{"startTime":637.04,"endTime":642.88,"body":"out that while you have a preceptor, honestly,  "},{"startTime":642.88,"endTime":649.36,"body":"the entire department is onboarding and really has "},{"startTime":642.88,"endTime":649.36,"body":"to have buy-in for the success of every single new  "},{"startTime":649.36,"endTime":653.6,"body":"team member and it's that collaboration that "},{"startTime":649.36,"endTime":653.6,"body":"is going to optimize the environment really."},{"startTime":655.68,"endTime":662.0,"body":"That's powerful. Yeah. What are some challenges "},{"startTime":655.68,"endTime":662.0,"body":"that you've, you know, you've seen with either of  "},{"startTime":662.0,"endTime":668.4,"body":"the roles of the instructor or the preceptor? "},{"startTime":662.0,"endTime":668.4,"body":"So just kind of staying with the conversation  "},{"startTime":668.4,"endTime":676.8,"body":"around the preceptor, first a key thing that "},{"startTime":668.4,"endTime":676.8,"body":"we see is exhaustion. These guys are precepting  "},{"startTime":676.8,"endTime":681.36,"body":"in rapid sequence. We have some people "},{"startTime":676.8,"endTime":681.36,"body":"that have been onboarding and precepting  "},{"startTime":681.36,"endTime":687.12,"body":"consistently for the last two years "},{"startTime":681.36,"endTime":687.12,"body":"and so we have to take a look and say  "},{"startTime":687.12,"endTime":693.36,"body":"what does precepting look like? What additional "},{"startTime":687.12,"endTime":693.36,"body":"resources can we get to that space so the full  "},{"startTime":693.36,"endTime":700.88,"body":"burden is not on the actual preceptor? And with "},{"startTime":693.36,"endTime":700.88,"body":"turnover in general, we know that they they're  "},{"startTime":700.88,"endTime":707.04,"body":"tired and so you keep calling on the same people. "},{"startTime":700.88,"endTime":707.04,"body":"You know, they say no good deed goes unpunished,  "},{"startTime":707.04,"endTime":712.88,"body":"so the really strong preceptors just keep getting "},{"startTime":707.04,"endTime":712.88,"body":"tagged and so we have to be very thoughtful on  "},{"startTime":712.88,"endTime":718.8,"body":"how we level load that responsibility because it's "},{"startTime":712.88,"endTime":718.8,"body":"profound to do it well. It's a huge responsibility  "},{"startTime":718.8,"endTime":725.52,"body":"no doubt and so you know there's that there's "},{"startTime":718.8,"endTime":725.52,"body":"also in general and how we're intersecting with  "},{"startTime":725.52,"endTime":730.08,"body":"the clinical instructors and how do we become "},{"startTime":725.52,"endTime":730.08,"body":"both clinical instructors and preceptors, which  "},{"startTime":730.08,"endTime":735.68,"body":"was really the goal of this ACE program is because "},{"startTime":730.08,"endTime":735.68,"body":"even the clinical instructors are stretched then.  "},{"startTime":735.68,"endTime":740.8,"body":"And so how do we optimize the environment "},{"startTime":735.68,"endTime":740.8,"body":"for the instructors, the preceptors,  "},{"startTime":740.8,"endTime":746.96,"body":"and the students that everybody feels successful? "},{"startTime":740.8,"endTime":746.96,"body":"And that really does take the entire organization  "},{"startTime":746.96,"endTime":753.2,"body":"both the institutional academic institution but "},{"startTime":746.96,"endTime":753.2,"body":"also the hospital setting to partner to wrap all  "},{"startTime":753.2,"endTime":758.88,"body":"of our resources around all the people involved, "},{"startTime":753.2,"endTime":758.88,"body":"which does require a high level of collaboration,  "},{"startTime":758.88,"endTime":763.52,"body":"transparency of what's not working well, how "},{"startTime":758.88,"endTime":763.52,"body":"do we do different check-ins in a way to make  "},{"startTime":763.52,"endTime":767.84,"body":"sure we know how things are going, not just "},{"startTime":763.52,"endTime":767.84,"body":"what we think but we actually understand the  "},{"startTime":767.84,"endTime":774.24,"body":"experience people are having, and giving the "},{"startTime":767.84,"endTime":774.24,"body":"clinical instructors a pathway to communicate  "},{"startTime":774.24,"endTime":778.8,"body":"when they see something that's just not going well "},{"startTime":774.24,"endTime":778.8,"body":"with their students, that they're bringing there.  "},{"startTime":778.8,"endTime":784.88,"body":"And those really respectful and collaborative "},{"startTime":778.8,"endTime":784.88,"body":"relationships are instrumental to optimize these  "},{"startTime":784.88,"endTime":789.68,"body":"partnerships overall. And for long term and I "},{"startTime":784.88,"endTime":789.68,"body":"think in doing that we're modeling at a micro  "},{"startTime":789.68,"endTime":793.84,"body":"level of what we're trying to do at a macro level "},{"startTime":789.68,"endTime":793.84,"body":"across the whole country with our partnerships,  "},{"startTime":793.84,"endTime":800.24,"body":"with our academic partners. That's wonderful and "},{"startTime":793.84,"endTime":800.24,"body":"you know, what also comes to my mind is how do we  "},{"startTime":800.24,"endTime":808.88,"body":"help you know our direct patient care nurses not "},{"startTime":800.24,"endTime":808.88,"body":"feel like they need to leave the bedside to teach?  "},{"startTime":808.88,"endTime":815.84,"body":"Yes and so maybe that's where like another "},{"startTime":808.88,"endTime":815.84,"body":"intersection could be to keep our you know  "},{"startTime":815.84,"endTime":824.72,"body":"our best nurses being the best nurses and also "},{"startTime":815.84,"endTime":824.72,"body":"exploring teaching and kind of maybe being able  "},{"startTime":824.72,"endTime":832.32,"body":"to have a clinical ladder in education, much like "},{"startTime":824.72,"endTime":832.32,"body":"we also I've seen have a clinical ladder towards  "},{"startTime":832.32,"endTime":838.16,"body":"leadership as well. Absolutely. And they can kind "},{"startTime":832.32,"endTime":838.16,"body":"of connect, right. I mean, yeah. Pair "},{"startTime":858.16,"endTime":865.28,"body":"them up, find some assigned units, send them,  "},{"startTime":866.4,"endTime":872.24,"body":"teach them back, and hopefully everything's "},{"startTime":866.4,"endTime":872.24,"body":"great. And you know, there's not a whole lot  "},{"startTime":872.24,"endTime":878.96,"body":"of literature or you know research that has shown "},{"startTime":872.24,"endTime":878.96,"body":"that that model has worked well. So I just wanted  "},{"startTime":878.96,"endTime":884.32,"body":"to ask you if you could share a little bit about "},{"startTime":878.96,"endTime":884.32,"body":"the ACE program that I've heard you mentioned and  "},{"startTime":884.32,"endTime":889.52,"body":"also thinking that may be somewhat of a solution "},{"startTime":884.32,"endTime":889.52,"body":"that you and your leadership team has come  "},{"startTime":889.52,"endTime":898.32,"body":"up with to help reinvent the clinical education in "},{"startTime":889.52,"endTime":898.32,"body":"your in your local area. Absolutely. And so  "},{"startTime":916.96,"endTime":921.36,"body":"you know we were pressure tested and we have "},{"startTime":916.96,"endTime":921.36,"body":"over these last two years pressure tested  "},{"startTime":921.36,"endTime":927.6,"body":"this process of how we onboard and educate "},{"startTime":921.36,"endTime":927.6,"body":"and there's been some significant gaps in  "},{"startTime":927.6,"endTime":933.84,"body":"instructors, in preceptors, all the things and "},{"startTime":927.6,"endTime":933.84,"body":"we've seen in the state of Maryland a significant  "},{"startTime":933.84,"endTime":940.32,"body":"decline in number of nurses applying for licensing "},{"startTime":933.84,"endTime":940.32,"body":"because of our depleted resources. And so  "},{"startTime":940.32,"endTime":946.64,"body":"you know, Dr. Rowan and Dr. Kirschling, their "},{"startTime":940.32,"endTime":946.64,"body":"partnership really has modeled our opportunity  "},{"startTime":946.64,"endTime":950.8,"body":"with the University of Maryland School of "},{"startTime":946.64,"endTime":950.8,"body":"Nursing and the University of Maryland system  "},{"startTime":950.8,"endTime":955.76,"body":"for us to come together. And they challenged us to "},{"startTime":950.8,"endTime":955.76,"body":"say how do we leverage this partnership in a way  "},{"startTime":956.56,"endTime":963.2,"body":"no one has done this before? Something completely "},{"startTime":956.56,"endTime":963.2,"body":"innovative. And so to your point, there's not  "},{"startTime":963.2,"endTime":968.32,"body":"been a pathway where we said you don't have "},{"startTime":963.2,"endTime":968.32,"body":"to leave the bedside. You can stay on the  "},{"startTime":968.32,"endTime":973.52,"body":"department you can be part of that team that "},{"startTime":968.32,"endTime":973.52,"body":"you feel is your family and you'll hear nurses  "},{"startTime":974.08,"endTime":979.84,"body":"express that my department is my family they "},{"startTime":974.08,"endTime":979.84,"body":"shouldn't have to leave that family to have  "},{"startTime":979.84,"endTime":985.04,"body":"growth and development. They don't feel like they're "},{"startTime":1037.2,"endTime":1042.0,"body":"visitors. They're seeing you know the role, the role "},{"startTime":1188.32,"endTime":1194.88,"body":"model of their preceptor instructor, which again I  "},{"startTime":1194.88,"endTime":1199.28,"body":"don't think students see that whole side when when "},{"startTime":1194.88,"endTime":1199.28,"body":"they're just working with the nursing instructor  "},{"startTime":1199.28,"endTime":1204.88,"body":"versus someone on the floor, so that's really to "},{"startTime":1199.28,"endTime":1204.88,"body":"me very exciting to see the opportunities for  "},{"startTime":1204.88,"endTime":1211.76,"body":"the students to like live that experience from day "},{"startTime":1204.88,"endTime":1211.76,"body":"one. Yeah. That's fantastic how if you can  "},{"startTime":1243.2,"endTime":1248.48,"body":"share a little bit about what have you been "},{"startTime":1243.2,"endTime":1248.48,"body":"hearing from the nurses perspective in their  "},{"startTime":1248.48,"endTime":1253.28,"body":"role as kind of preceptor clinical instructor, "},{"startTime":1248.48,"endTime":1253.28,"body":"where this kind of intersects? How are they  "},{"startTime":1253.28,"endTime":1260.64,"body":"feeling about it? Absolutely. Well, I think true "},{"startTime":1253.28,"endTime":1260.64,"body":"to our profession, I was surprised but I'm now  "},{"startTime":1260.64,"endTime":1266.64,"body":"I'm not surprised as I as I listen to them, but the "},{"startTime":1260.64,"endTime":1266.64,"body":"level of responsibility they feel for this group  "},{"startTime":1266.64,"endTime":1272.24,"body":"of clinical students, they are fierce advocates "},{"startTime":1266.64,"endTime":1272.24,"body":"for the experience. They want to make sure things  "},{"startTime":1272.24,"endTime":1278.64,"body":"are going perfectly well. I mean, they are leaning "},{"startTime":1272.24,"endTime":1278.64,"body":"in and embracing the full gamut for that semester  "},{"startTime":1278.64,"endTime":1283.92,"body":"and to hear them say you know I'm so glad it's "},{"startTime":1278.64,"endTime":1283.92,"body":"going that that it's going well. I just feel so  "},{"startTime":1283.92,"endTime":1290.08,"body":"much responsibility to make sure it goes well for "},{"startTime":1283.92,"endTime":1290.08,"body":"the students and they own them fully and  "},{"startTime":1290.08,"endTime":1295.36,"body":"so when I hear that I'm like, we've done the "},{"startTime":1290.08,"endTime":1295.36,"body":"right thing because we've really given them  "},{"startTime":1295.36,"endTime":1302.72,"body":"some responsibility but also the respect for their "},{"startTime":1295.36,"endTime":1302.72,"body":"role and what they have to offer for the group  "},{"startTime":1302.72,"endTime":1307.6,"body":"and so that's the first thing is just their level "},{"startTime":1302.72,"endTime":1307.6,"body":"of responsibility, their sharing of how deeply  "},{"startTime":1307.6,"endTime":1314.56,"body":"invested they are in the outcomes is really ..."},{"startTime":1307.6,"endTime":1314.56,"body":"makes me so thrilled to see that. And so now we "},{"startTime":1334.32,"endTime":1340.24,"body":"have a little bit of almost a one week lead time  "},{"startTime":1340.24,"endTime":1344.8,"body":"on the front to get things calibrated a bit for "},{"startTime":1340.24,"endTime":1344.8,"body":"them to know the students learn the students learn  "},{"startTime":1344.8,"endTime":1350.72,"body":"each other a bit as opposed to just throwing them "},{"startTime":1344.8,"endTime":1350.72,"body":"right in.
