But it was  "},{"startTime":93.12,"endTime":98.4,"body":"really interesting to hear about neuroscience in "},{"startTime":93.12,"endTime":98.4,"body":"the context of leadership so that was pretty cool."},{"startTime":100.56,"endTime":109.5,"body":"You know, I think you often think about as a leader "},{"startTime":100.56,"endTime":109.5,"body":"you can hold a lot of responsibility in moving a  "},{"startTime":109.5,"endTime":115.74,"body":"team or an organization toward a goal and you can "},{"startTime":109.5,"endTime":115.74,"body":"get very driven toward that, but I think there's a  "},{"startTime":115.74,"endTime":123.36,"body":"lot to be said for reflecting on, well, what is the "},{"startTime":115.74,"endTime":123.36,"body":"goal? And why is that the goal? And how will we know  "},{"startTime":123.36,"endTime":129.72,"body":"we got to the goal? And how will we know we didn't "},{"startTime":123.36,"endTime":129.72,"body":"get to the goal? I think there's a lot of  "},{"startTime":130.38,"endTime":139.92,"body":"skill development for a leader around "},{"startTime":130.38,"endTime":139.92,"body":"strategic planning and determining really being  "},{"startTime":139.92,"endTime":147.96,"body":"very thoughtful and reflective about goal setting "},{"startTime":139.92,"endTime":147.96,"body":"and getting really strategic about it.  "},{"startTime":147.96,"endTime":154.2,"body":"I think that she just shared a lot of insight "},{"startTime":147.96,"endTime":154.2,"body":"around that. So what what were some of your  "},{"startTime":154.2,"endTime":160.92,"body":"thoughts Sabrina? So she actually differentiated "},{"startTime":154.2,"endTime":160.92,"body":"a couple of things. She differentiated strategic  "},{"startTime":160.92,"endTime":167.04,"body":"planning from strategic thinking and I thought "},{"startTime":160.92,"endTime":167.04,"body":"that was really interesting because I think  "},{"startTime":167.04,"endTime":174.12,"body":"sometimes you say, okay, strategic planning very "},{"startTime":167.04,"endTime":174.12,"body":"detailed, I have to get my spreadsheet out, I have  "},{"startTime":174.12,"endTime":179.22,"body":"to put down it has to meet the vision and mission "},{"startTime":174.12,"endTime":179.22,"body":"of the organization and these are the goals and  "},{"startTime":179.22,"endTime":183.9,"body":"how am I going to meet my goals. Then you "},{"startTime":179.22,"endTime":183.9,"body":"have your tracking and and who's going to help  "},{"startTime":183.9,"endTime":189.96,"body":"me meet these goals and you often think about "},{"startTime":183.9,"endTime":189.96,"body":"am I developing this in isolation? And we're not  "},{"startTime":189.96,"endTime":195.24,"body":"developing it in isolation. That's where that whole "},{"startTime":189.96,"endTime":195.24,"body":"strategic thinking piece comes in where you have a  "},{"startTime":195.24,"endTime":201.54,"body":"team. You have a team who's going to work "},{"startTime":195.24,"endTime":201.54,"body":"with you on how to do this planning but you've  "},{"startTime":201.54,"endTime":210.12,"body":"got a whole team that's going to do that thinking "},{"startTime":201.54,"endTime":210.12,"body":"piece and able to I like to think about teams  "},{"startTime":210.12,"endTime":217.2,"body":"in two ways. One - and we did did talk about this a "},{"startTime":210.12,"endTime":217.2,"body":"little bit at the retreat - but how you need to have  "},{"startTime":217.2,"endTime":224.7,"body":"some psychological safety within that team so that "},{"startTime":217.2,"endTime":224.7,"body":"you hear all the voices of all the individuals who  "},{"startTime":224.7,"endTime":230.1,"body":"are helping you with your strategic plan. "},{"startTime":224.7,"endTime":230.1,"body":"So that strategic thinking piece is your  "},{"startTime":230.1,"endTime":236.28,"body":"team who's working to do that. Then the other "},{"startTime":230.1,"endTime":236.28,"body":"side of course would be accountability, where the  "},{"startTime":236.28,"endTime":242.82,"body":"accountability piece is you need to get this done, "},{"startTime":236.28,"endTime":242.82,"body":"but there's two it you know that you want to be  "},{"startTime":242.82,"endTime":247.86,"body":"able to hear and that's kind of the ultimate. "},{"startTime":242.82,"endTime":247.86,"body":"Amy Edmondson talks about this in her work  "},{"startTime":248.76,"endTime":253.38,"body":"and and we'll talk about different books. "},{"startTime":248.76,"endTime":253.38,"body":"I think towards the end but she talks about  "},{"startTime":253.38,"endTime":260.34,"body":"teaming and how important it is today with "},{"startTime":253.38,"endTime":260.34,"body":"learning organizations, which is what we all work  "},{"startTime":260.34,"endTime":268.2,"body":"in nursing education. In order to do the "},{"startTime":260.34,"endTime":268.2,"body":"strategic planning you need a team who can hear  "},{"startTime":268.2,"endTime":274.56,"body":"all perspectives yet know there is a goal to meet "},{"startTime":268.2,"endTime":274.56,"body":"at the end of the goal. I think I walked away  "},{"startTime":274.56,"endTime":282.54,"body":"with that. I value teams. I started a "},{"startTime":274.56,"endTime":282.54,"body":"consortium in the state of Maryland with a group,  "},{"startTime":282.54,"endTime":287.76,"body":"with a team. I couldn't do it by myself because "},{"startTime":282.54,"endTime":287.76,"body":"I needed expertise besides myself in this team.  "},{"startTime":287.76,"endTime":294.42,"body":"They were selected for their strengths and "},{"startTime":287.76,"endTime":294.42,"body":"their expertise and we worked towards it and "},{"startTime":294.42,"endTime":301.68,"body":"we worked as a great team we had that goal at the "},{"startTime":294.42,"endTime":301.68,"body":"end. I like to say, Dr. Sue Forneris always says  "},{"startTime":301.68,"endTime":307.14,"body":"that it's important to begin with the end in mind, "},{"startTime":301.68,"endTime":307.14,"body":"which is what we did. We said the whole big goal  "},{"startTime":307.14,"endTime":311.7,"body":"was this and that there was a team that we worked "},{"startTime":307.14,"endTime":311.7,"body":"together and valued our strengths as a group.  "},{"startTime":312.54,"endTime":321.3,"body":"Dr. Evans also talked about strategic planning "},{"startTime":312.54,"endTime":321.3,"body":"and thinking as an art and a science so it's not  "},{"startTime":321.3,"endTime":329.04,"body":"just this this detailed pen to paper plan that "},{"startTime":321.3,"endTime":329.04,"body":"you're going to put together that there is that  "},{"startTime":329.04,"endTime":334.68,"body":"other art side of hearing everybody's perspective "},{"startTime":329.04,"endTime":334.68,"body":"to make it very best that it can be so that's what  "},{"startTime":334.68,"endTime":340.8,"body":"I took away as far as strategy from "},{"startTime":334.68,"endTime":340.8,"body":"what she brought to us at the retreat. "},{"startTime":341.88,"endTime":348.12,"body":"Yeah, you know I keep thinking about it keeps "},{"startTime":341.88,"endTime":348.12,"body":"coming up over and over again is that when you  "},{"startTime":348.12,"endTime":355.56,"body":"have a team really getting strategic about looking "},{"startTime":348.12,"endTime":355.56,"body":"at the different strengths that everyone brings  "},{"startTime":356.28,"endTime":363.18,"body":"because that diversity and strengths and "},{"startTime":356.28,"endTime":363.18,"body":"that diversity in thinking and the diversity  "},{"startTime":363.18,"endTime":373.32,"body":"in problem solving can, I think, if you can leverage "},{"startTime":363.18,"endTime":373.32,"body":"all the pieces in a very productive,"},{"startTime":373.32,"endTime":379.08,"body":"meaningful way I think it just drives every "},{"startTime":373.32,"endTime":379.08,"body":"like everyone cohesively toward that goal.  "},{"startTime":380.88,"endTime":385.62,"body":"Amy Edmondson talks also, teams, "},{"startTime":380.88,"endTime":385.62,"body":"you know, like that's a solid team,  "},{"startTime":386.34,"endTime":392.1,"body":"has a framework around it. But she also talks "},{"startTime":386.34,"endTime":392.1,"body":"about a concept of teaming, which we do a lot  "},{"startTime":392.1,"endTime":398.04,"body":"more now in our learning environments because "},{"startTime":392.1,"endTime":398.04,"body":"we with ad hoc committees. We come to together  "},{"startTime":398.04,"endTime":404.28,"body":"quickly. We have a defined goal. You may or "},{"startTime":398.04,"endTime":404.28,"body":"may not know those people who come together,  "},{"startTime":404.28,"endTime":411.36,"body":"but you have to quickly get up to speed on "},{"startTime":404.28,"endTime":411.36,"body":"everybody in the team who has what to  "},{"startTime":411.36,"endTime":416.76,"body":"give to the team, what their strengths are. "},{"startTime":411.36,"endTime":416.76,"body":"Then you meet your goal and then you  "},{"startTime":416.76,"endTime":420.6,"body":"go off and then you have another committee "},{"startTime":416.76,"endTime":420.6,"body":"where maybe completely different people that  "},{"startTime":420.6,"endTime":424.14,"body":"you're working with. Our environments "},{"startTime":420.6,"endTime":424.14,"body":"are different today when we think about  "},{"startTime":424.14,"endTime":431.1,"body":"strategic planning and these teaming and and even "},{"startTime":424.14,"endTime":431.1,"body":"strategic thinking which is what we do in teams."},{"startTime":433.2,"endTime":438.42,"body":"I know she also talked about and I'll let "},{"startTime":433.2,"endTime":438.42,"body":"you because you are really a neuroscience person  "},{"startTime":438.42,"endTime":442.62,"body":"so I'll let you talk a little bit about "},{"startTime":438.42,"endTime":442.62,"body":"that, but she talked about the amygdala.  "},{"startTime":443.46,"endTime":449.52,"body":"So I'm going to let you take off "},{"startTime":443.46,"endTime":449.52,"body":"on that a little bit. You know, when we think about  "},{"startTime":449.52,"endTime":457.08,"body":"the neuroscience and leadership around how our "},{"startTime":449.52,"endTime":457.08,"body":"emotions and how they show up in our everyday  "},{"startTime":457.08,"endTime":463.98,"body":"life because we're a superhuman so we also have "},{"startTime":457.08,"endTime":463.98,"body":"like super emotions, but I think as humans we  "},{"startTime":463.98,"endTime":472.92,"body":"like to kind of like dismiss them or ignore them "},{"startTime":463.98,"endTime":472.92,"body":"but they show up all the time in our daily work  "},{"startTime":472.92,"endTime":480.3,"body":"and how to kind of regulate our emotions and when "},{"startTime":472.92,"endTime":480.3,"body":"to be vulnerable vulnerable about our emotions and  "},{"startTime":480.3,"endTime":487.14,"body":"when to share our emotions. I think in a team and "},{"startTime":480.3,"endTime":487.14,"body":"as a leader is can be really important because  "},{"startTime":487.14,"endTime":493.38,"body":"I think that shows coming back to our initial "},{"startTime":487.14,"endTime":493.38,"body":"earlier conversation - it shows connection. When  "},{"startTime":493.38,"endTime":500.76,"body":"people in our teams as leaders can see "},{"startTime":493.38,"endTime":500.76,"body":"some connection and feel some shared experience,  "},{"startTime":500.76,"endTime":507.0,"body":"which is often driven by emotions, I think that "},{"startTime":500.76,"endTime":507.0,"body":"can be really helpful. I think for a leader  "},{"startTime":507.0,"endTime":513.42,"body":"it's about being able to flip neuro from the "},{"startTime":507.0,"endTime":513.42,"body":"neuroscience of being able to flip back and forth  "},{"startTime":514.2,"endTime":520.68,"body":"between our amygdala very intentionally to our "},{"startTime":514.2,"endTime":520.68,"body":"cognitive prefrontal cortex and I think that takes  "},{"startTime":520.68,"endTime":527.52,"body":"practice. Then to connect that "},{"startTime":520.68,"endTime":527.52,"body":"also to psychological safety and Amy Edmonson's   "},{"startTime":527.52,"endTime":535.68,"body":"work again. You know, to be psychologically safe, "},{"startTime":527.52,"endTime":535.68,"body":"that safety comes, generates pretty much from our  "},{"startTime":535.68,"endTime":541.32,"body":"amygdala. I'll give an example Sabrina. "},{"startTime":535.68,"endTime":541.32,"body":"I hope you don't mind. I'm going to put us out  "},{"startTime":541.32,"endTime":547.68,"body":"there a little bit but you and I participated "},{"startTime":541.32,"endTime":547.68,"body":"in a VR experience where you're walking the blank.  "},{"startTime":548.46,"endTime":555.36,"body":"Right, that's a perfect example. Sabrina and I "},{"startTime":548.46,"endTime":555.36,"body":"had this opportunity to go into a VR headset and  "},{"startTime":555.36,"endTime":561.36,"body":"it's called Richie's plank experience. There's "},{"startTime":555.36,"endTime":561.36,"body":"a piece of wood on the ground in a very safe  "},{"startTime":561.36,"endTime":568.26,"body":"environment. Then you put the VR headset on "},{"startTime":561.36,"endTime":568.26,"body":"and you go up an elevator and the elevator opens  "},{"startTime":568.26,"endTime":574.02,"body":"and there you are on the top of you know the 80th "},{"startTime":568.26,"endTime":574.02,"body":"floor of the Empire State Building or something.  "},{"startTime":574.02,"endTime":582.36,"body":"You are tasked to walk the plank out into the "},{"startTime":574.02,"endTime":582.36,"body":"open air of the the outside of the building.  "},{"startTime":582.36,"endTime":588.6,"body":"Even though cognitively you know "},{"startTime":582.36,"endTime":588.6,"body":"that you are safe and that you can  "},{"startTime":588.6,"endTime":593.4,"body":"walk this plank because you were actually "},{"startTime":588.6,"endTime":593.4,"body":"on the ground and you are not outside of  "},{"startTime":593.4,"endTime":599.58,"body":"a building and you are not going to fall, "},{"startTime":593.4,"endTime":599.58,"body":"our amygdala, it's called amygdala hijack,  "},{"startTime":600.24,"endTime":606.48,"body":"completely takes over and our prefrontal "},{"startTime":600.24,"endTime":606.48,"body":"cortex is no longer online and I'm saying our,  "},{"startTime":606.48,"endTime":614.22,"body":"I'll just speak for myself, I got one step out "},{"startTime":606.48,"endTime":614.22,"body":"onto the plank and I was like no I can't do it  "},{"startTime":614.22,"endTime":623.34,"body":"but I could cognitively I know I could do it. "},{"startTime":614.22,"endTime":623.34,"body":"But my amygdala the sweating and my heart rate  "},{"startTime":624.24,"endTime":632.04,"body":"completely took over and it disabled me completely, "},{"startTime":624.24,"endTime":632.04,"body":"disabled me from going out onto this plank and  "},{"startTime":632.04,"endTime":638.22,"body":"completing the task at hand right. Right.  "},{"startTime":632.04,"endTime":638.22,"body":"So it was funny when I was in the VR headset.  "},{"startTime":639.3,"endTime":645.78,"body":"I kept flip-flopping back and forth saying, \"I'm "},{"startTime":639.3,"endTime":645.78,"body":"on the floor. Take a few more steps. I'm on the  "},{"startTime":645.78,"endTime":653.64,"body":"floor. Take a few more steps.\" And I got almost to "},{"startTime":645.78,"endTime":653.64,"body":"the end of the plank in VR which opens up where  "},{"startTime":653.64,"endTime":659.16,"body":"you would just step off and then you would go down "},{"startTime":653.64,"endTime":659.16,"body":"and I don't know what that experience is because  "},{"startTime":659.16,"endTime":667.62,"body":"I didn't make it that far because I came across "},{"startTime":659.16,"endTime":667.62,"body":"and then I actually changed foot positions and  "},{"startTime":667.62,"endTime":675.18,"body":"then to the safest way I could to get back to the "},{"startTime":667.62,"endTime":675.18,"body":"elevator. So yes, that is a prime example  "},{"startTime":675.72,"endTime":682.56,"body":"and what's interesting is that you know "},{"startTime":675.72,"endTime":682.56,"body":"often Dr. Evans was saying that your amygdala  "},{"startTime":682.56,"endTime":686.88,"body":"is not always accurate and that's a perfect "},{"startTime":682.56,"endTime":686.88,"body":"example because that was not accurate because  "},{"startTime":686.88,"endTime":693.3,"body":"I really was not on the top of the 80th floor "},{"startTime":686.88,"endTime":693.3,"body":"of that building but it made me feel like I was.  "},{"startTime":694.2,"endTime":701.22,"body":"I think she was saying that "},{"startTime":694.2,"endTime":701.22,"body":"your amygdala actually doesn't really shut  "},{"startTime":701.22,"endTime":708.54,"body":"off because it can continue on to heighten you. "},{"startTime":701.22,"endTime":708.54,"body":"As you are in more of a stressful environment  "},{"startTime":708.54,"endTime":715.5,"body":"you may be controlled by your amygdala and that "},{"startTime":708.54,"endTime":715.5,"body":"your frontal cortex is what really helps to make  "},{"startTime":715.5,"endTime":723.06,"body":"sense of what's happening, but that doesn't, "},{"startTime":715.5,"endTime":723.06,"body":"that tires so I I think it's important that  "},{"startTime":723.66,"endTime":728.76,"body":"even that work-life balance or maybe throwing back a little bit to that saying  "},{"startTime":728.76,"endTime":736.0,"body":"positively you know, \"I get to,\" kind of helps to "},{"startTime":728.76,"endTime":736.0,"body":"just balance that off for you a little bit.  "},{"startTime":736.0,"endTime":743.16,"body":"It's interesting to see how all these concepts "},{"startTime":736.0,"endTime":743.16,"body":"actually are tying back to our experience with  "},{"startTime":743.16,"endTime":750.84,"body":"the retreat. Absolutely. So I think it's a good "},{"startTime":743.16,"endTime":750.84,"body":"time to move on to our fourth and final theme,  "},{"startTime":751.44,"endTime":759.3,"body":"which was advocacy. The speaker was Mr. "},{"startTime":751.44,"endTime":759.3,"body":"Michael Newsom, who is a senior associate vice  "},{"startTime":759.3,"endTime":767.34,"body":"president for finance and operations for Virginia "},{"startTime":759.3,"endTime":767.34,"body":"Commonwealth University. He came to talk to the  "},{"startTime":767.34,"endTime":773.46,"body":"group about budget systems in higher education "},{"startTime":767.34,"endTime":773.46,"body":"and the disclaimer I want to make is that  "},{"startTime":773.46,"endTime":779.7,"body":"when I see the word budget and "},{"startTime":773.46,"endTime":779.7,"body":"finance I'm like yikes like I don't know how  "},{"startTime":779.7,"endTime":785.88,"body":"I don't know how to do that. It has numbers "},{"startTime":779.7,"endTime":785.88,"body":"and math and I just shy away from it because  "},{"startTime":785.88,"endTime":794.4,"body":"those are not my strength but I tied this topic "},{"startTime":785.88,"endTime":794.4,"body":"to the word advocacy because I think as leaders  "},{"startTime":795.12,"endTime":801.12,"body":"we often have to advocate for one of the most "},{"startTime":795.12,"endTime":801.12,"body":"I think common things to advocate for is money:  "},{"startTime":801.12,"endTime":810.72,"body":"compensation, resources, or funding for programs,"},{"startTime":801.12,"endTime":810.72,"body":"time, right, and  those things are  "},{"startTime":810.72,"endTime":818.28,"body":"often tied together, or professional development, "},{"startTime":810.72,"endTime":818.28,"body":"which also has a cost to it so much of  "},{"startTime":818.28,"endTime":826.5,"body":"what we do to move an organization or a team or a "},{"startTime":818.28,"endTime":826.5,"body":"program forward I think it's tied to the resources  "},{"startTime":826.5,"endTime":834.36,"body":"to make that happen and as a leader the only way "},{"startTime":826.5,"endTime":834.36,"body":"that that can those we can obtain resources is to  "},{"startTime":834.36,"endTime":842.52,"body":"advocate. That's my kind of bias I think "},{"startTime":834.36,"endTime":842.52,"body":"in order to understand financial or  "},{"startTime":842.52,"endTime":849.9,"body":"maybe this is how I make it palatable. This is how "},{"startTime":842.52,"endTime":849.9,"body":"I can put any emphasis on understanding  "},{"startTime":849.9,"endTime":854.46,"body":"numbers is that I can't advocate for a team "},{"startTime":849.9,"endTime":854.46,"body":"or a program if I don't understand the numbers.  "},{"startTime":855.84,"endTime":864.42,"body":"So you know I was"},{"startTime":855.84,"endTime":864.42,"body":"looking at advocacy and the concept as well  "},{"startTime":864.42,"endTime":872.1,"body":"and thinking about how important it is that we "},{"startTime":864.42,"endTime":872.1,"body":"have some sort of financial acumen as leaders  "},{"startTime":872.1,"endTime":878.46,"body":"because I think it is important for us to "},{"startTime":872.1,"endTime":878.46,"body":"understand both sides that the person you are  "},{"startTime":878.46,"endTime":885.66,"body":"approaching with a budget item that you want them "},{"startTime":878.46,"endTime":885.66,"body":"to give you some money for whatever resource it  "},{"startTime":885.66,"endTime":890.58,"body":"is that you want you have to realize that there's "},{"startTime":885.66,"endTime":890.58,"body":"another side. They have to also advocate for  "},{"startTime":890.58,"endTime":898.56,"body":"others who are asking probably for things as well "},{"startTime":890.58,"endTime":898.56,"body":"so I think when you go into your administrator and  "},{"startTime":898.56,"endTime":905.22,"body":"you're asking for something. You have to have what "},{"startTime":898.56,"endTime":905.22,"body":"I call what is your return on investment.  "},{"startTime":905.22,"endTime":913.32,"body":"What is it that you, what metrics would you "},{"startTime":905.22,"endTime":913.32,"body":"need going in to say this is why we need to have  "},{"startTime":913.32,"endTime":919.02,"body":"this. We want faculty "},{"startTime":1190.16,"endTime":1197.78,"body":"to be able to have time to do simulation but how  "},{"startTime":1197.78,"endTime":1206.96,"body":"in the structure of workload that's time "},{"startTime":1197.78,"endTime":1206.96,"body":"right and all of time does end up going  "},{"startTime":1206.96,"endTime":1213.5,"body":"to budget because you have to look at am I are "},{"startTime":1206.96,"endTime":1213.5,"body":"you going to pay me for my time in simulation. I think it's important to  "},{"startTime":1229.22,"endTime":1235.46,"body":"consider first return on course "},{"startTime":1229.22,"endTime":1235.46,"body":"expectations but you may need that right as  "},{"startTime":1235.46,"endTime":1242.3,"body":"well as the return on investment. I remember "},{"startTime":1235.46,"endTime":1242.3,"body":"a specific example when I realized that"},{"startTime":1242.3,"endTime":1249.26,"body":"time and and budget were sort of connected. "},{"startTime":1242.3,"endTime":1249.26,"body":"I was a faculty course coordinator teaching  "},{"startTime":1249.26,"endTime":1256.4,"body":"a very large course. The course existed with "},{"startTime":1249.26,"endTime":1256.4,"body":"the faculty and a teaching assistant that helped  "},{"startTime":1256.4,"endTime":1262.16,"body":"to support the work of the course. When "},{"startTime":1256.4,"endTime":1262.16,"body":"I moved into the course to be the faculty and  "},{"startTime":1262.16,"endTime":1266.66,"body":"the course coordinator the teaching assistant "},{"startTime":1262.16,"endTime":1266.66,"body":"disappeared and I remember saying, wait a minute?"},{"startTime":1268.7,"endTime":1274.16,"body":"Where'd they go? It wasn't like they just "},{"startTime":1268.7,"endTime":1274.16,"body":"went out to lunch. It was that there was an  "},{"startTime":1274.16,"endTime":1281.6,"body":"administrative decision to remove that resource "},{"startTime":1274.16,"endTime":1281.6,"body":"for budgeting purposes from the course and  "},{"startTime":1281.6,"endTime":1286.7,"body":"I remember feeling like, but wait a minute, that "},{"startTime":1281.6,"endTime":1286.7,"body":"means for me to do the work that they were doing  "},{"startTime":1286.7,"endTime":1292.04,"body":"it's going to take me more time and that means "},{"startTime":1286.7,"endTime":1292.04,"body":"my time and attention from something else has  "},{"startTime":1292.04,"endTime":1298.04,"body":"to shift to now do this work. It "},{"startTime":1292.04,"endTime":1298.04,"body":"really it came down to budgeting and in the end  "},{"startTime":1298.04,"endTime":1304.34,"body":"I had to understand it and I did you know you "},{"startTime":1298.04,"endTime":1304.34,"body":"just okay and move on and just reallocate  "},{"startTime":1304.34,"endTime":1310.22,"body":"your time and attention in a different way,  "},{"startTime":1304.34,"endTime":1310.22,"body":"which can be challenging though sometimes when  "},{"startTime":1310.22,"endTime":1316.88,"body":"resources are removed or you're trying "},{"startTime":1310.22,"endTime":1316.88,"body":"to advocate for resources to be added"},{"startTime":1316.88,"endTime":1322.82,"body":"I think it's hard. I think how to define, like "},{"startTime":1316.88,"endTime":1322.82,"body":"you're saying, how to define the cost or the the  "},{"startTime":1322.82,"endTime":1328.82,"body":"return on investment for that time because "},{"startTime":1322.82,"endTime":1328.82,"body":"that time maybe for me could have been more spent  "},{"startTime":1328.82,"endTime":1336.98,"body":"on scholarship or on grant writing or on it you "},{"startTime":1328.82,"endTime":1336.98,"body":"know who knows but you have to advocate for that  "},{"startTime":1336.98,"endTime":1343.4,"body":"and that's hard. I think that's just hard to do. "},{"startTime":1336.98,"endTime":1343.4,"body":"You brought up grant funding  "},{"startTime":1343.4,"endTime":1349.82,"body":"and you have with grant funding you"},{"startTime":1343.4,"endTime":1349.82,"body":"have an evaluation plan. You have a plan of  "},{"startTime":1349.82,"endTime":1357.38,"body":"evaluation that is created to show your return on "},{"startTime":1349.82,"endTime":1357.38,"body":"investment for that funder so that they know that  "},{"startTime":1357.38,"endTime":1363.98,"body":"if I fund this and I give this money this is so "},{"startTime":1357.38,"endTime":1363.98,"body":"we have to think about when we go to advocate for  "},{"startTime":1363.98,"endTime":1371.84,"body":"something within an institution it's almost like "},{"startTime":1363.98,"endTime":1371.84,"body":"grant funding. This is what is needed within  "},{"startTime":1371.84,"endTime":1376.88,"body":"the program and this is the plan of evaluation "},{"startTime":1371.84,"endTime":1376.88,"body":"so that you know I'm going to evaluate what that  "},{"startTime":1376.88,"endTime":1382.22,"body":"return is on the money that you've given me or "},{"startTime":1376.88,"endTime":1382.22,"body":"the resources you've given me. It's really  "},{"startTime":1382.22,"endTime":1388.1,"body":"the same concept and I guess if we think about "},{"startTime":1382.22,"endTime":1388.1,"body":"it from that perspective because as faculty we  "},{"startTime":1388.1,"endTime":1393.14,"body":"write grants all the time. You have to have "},{"startTime":1388.1,"endTime":1393.14,"body":"that plan of evaluation. Think about  "},{"startTime":1393.14,"endTime":1398.3,"body":"that even for budgeting.
