What comes to my "},{"startTime":168.78,"endTime":178.5,"body":"mind is a bit a big breadcrumb, if that makes  "},{"startTime":178.5,"endTime":185.7,"body":"sense, so I want to refer to my big "},{"startTime":178.5,"endTime":185.7,"body":"breadcrumb that has impacted so many parts of  "},{"startTime":185.7,"endTime":192.78,"body":"my life both professionally and personally.  "},{"startTime":185.7,"endTime":192.78,"body":"My background is industrial design and in  "},{"startTime":192.78,"endTime":199.92,"body":"my 20s I participated in a design challenge that "},{"startTime":192.78,"endTime":199.92,"body":"was organized by Index Project in collaboration  "},{"startTime":199.92,"endTime":207.36,"body":"with UNICEF. It was in Denmark and I was a student "},{"startTime":199.92,"endTime":207.36,"body":"at the time and when I joined this network it was  "},{"startTime":207.36,"endTime":215.58,"body":"such a powerful group of individuals, companies "},{"startTime":207.36,"endTime":215.58,"body":"and that's kind of how it unfolded that I built  "},{"startTime":215.58,"endTime":221.64,"body":"my career on design for social impact and "},{"startTime":215.58,"endTime":221.64,"body":"Laerdal was also one of the companies that  "},{"startTime":221.64,"endTime":227.88,"body":"they had recognized. So both internships, other "},{"startTime":221.64,"endTime":227.88,"body":"projects, and then Laerdal. It's just kind of  "},{"startTime":227.88,"endTime":234.3,"body":"made its way. I joined Laerdal actually from "},{"startTime":227.88,"endTime":234.3,"body":"our sister company, the not-for-profit company,  "},{"startTime":234.3,"endTime":238.68,"body":"Laerdal Global Health, which is focused "},{"startTime":234.3,"endTime":238.68,"body":"on maternal and newborn health primarily. "},{"startTime":240.12,"endTime":245.34,"body":"But the fun fact is I even met my husband "},{"startTime":240.12,"endTime":245.34,"body":"through this organization, that's kind of a  "},{"startTime":245.34,"endTime":250.56,"body":"friend of a friend and meeting there at "},{"startTime":245.34,"endTime":250.56,"body":"an after party kind of thing. So I think  "},{"startTime":250.56,"endTime":256.32,"body":"that's an important, it is an important "},{"startTime":250.56,"endTime":256.32,"body":"breadcrumb. This is a major breadcrumb."},{"startTime":259.32,"endTime":264.84,"body":"So when I met Rosie I had transitioned from "},{"startTime":259.32,"endTime":264.84,"body":"Laerdal Global Health to Laerdal Medical and I  "},{"startTime":264.84,"endTime":270.54,"body":"was implementing design thinking in the company. I "},{"startTime":264.84,"endTime":270.54,"body":"was also working with our leadership teams on our  "},{"startTime":270.54,"endTime":278.46,"body":"2030 goal, which is helping save one million more "},{"startTime":270.54,"endTime":278.46,"body":"lives every year by 2030. So there were numerous  "},{"startTime":278.46,"endTime":285.18,"body":"strategy sessions that we facilitated and as part "},{"startTime":278.46,"endTime":285.18,"body":"of that I met Rosie and I met so many other women  "},{"startTime":285.18,"endTime":292.5,"body":"leaders that inspired me to move into leadership. "},{"startTime":285.18,"endTime":292.5,"body":"I decided to take an Executive MBA specialized  "},{"startTime":292.5,"endTime":299.1,"body":"in digital business models and after that I took "},{"startTime":292.5,"endTime":299.1,"body":"on the role of leading our health care education  "},{"startTime":299.1,"endTime":306.84,"body":"team and that brings Rosie back me again together "},{"startTime":299.1,"endTime":306.84,"body":"because she has vast experience in this field and  "},{"startTime":306.84,"endTime":313.86,"body":"that also invited me to our partnership with the "},{"startTime":306.84,"endTime":313.86,"body":"National League for Nursing. So can you share a  "},{"startTime":313.86,"endTime":320.7,"body":"little bit more about the work you did with that "},{"startTime":313.86,"endTime":320.7,"body":"global arm of Laerdal Medical and some of the  "},{"startTime":320.7,"endTime":328.32,"body":"innovation that you created to I think have really "},{"startTime":320.7,"endTime":328.32,"body":"important social impact in health care? Absolutely.  "},{"startTime":330.12,"endTime":337.02,"body":"I joined as an industrial designer and because "},{"startTime":330.12,"endTime":337.02,"body":"Laerdal Global Health is also a place where we  "},{"startTime":337.02,"endTime":343.68,"body":"work a lot with our partners, I truly understood "},{"startTime":337.02,"endTime":343.68,"body":"the value of that both partnerships with"},{"startTime":343.68,"endTime":350.88,"body":"the end users who are midwives or midwifery "},{"startTime":343.68,"endTime":350.88,"body":"educators or those professional associations who  "},{"startTime":350.88,"endTime":358.5,"body":"are implementing the solutions we do, but also the "},{"startTime":350.88,"endTime":358.5,"body":"organizations who we co-develop with. I actually  "},{"startTime":358.5,"endTime":364.86,"body":"have contributed with a few different projects and "},{"startTime":358.5,"endTime":364.86,"body":"one of them is the MamaBirthie birthing simulator,  "},{"startTime":364.86,"endTime":373.86,"body":"which is a very low cost, very hands-on birthing "},{"startTime":364.86,"endTime":373.86,"body":"simulator both wearable and you can put it on the  "},{"startTime":373.86,"endTime":381.48,"body":"table, etc. And it's training on normal birth "},{"startTime":373.86,"endTime":381.48,"body":"so I think through this I also could see the  "},{"startTime":381.48,"endTime":390.36,"body":"value of prevention rather than intervention. "},{"startTime":381.48,"endTime":390.36,"body":"This has been a major project of  "},{"startTime":390.36,"endTime":396.06,"body":"mine in Laerdal Global Health. The other one was "},{"startTime":390.36,"endTime":396.06,"body":"the Nifty Feeding Cup where we collaborated with  "},{"startTime":396.06,"endTime":403.92,"body":"Path, Seattle Children's Hospital and there I was "},{"startTime":396.06,"endTime":403.92,"body":"championing this, really making this partnership  "},{"startTime":403.92,"endTime":411.42,"body":"happen with those organizations. That is "},{"startTime":403.92,"endTime":411.42,"body":"wonderful Cansu. Thank you for sharing."},{"startTime":412.86,"endTime":419.88,"body":"I was wondering if I could hear Rosie some of your "},{"startTime":412.86,"endTime":419.88,"body":"breadcrumbs. Absolutely be glad to. I started  "},{"startTime":420.42,"endTime":426.18,"body":"my career at a company called Medical Plastics "},{"startTime":420.42,"endTime":426.18,"body":"and Medical Plastics was a company in Texas  "},{"startTime":427.44,"endTime":433.68,"body":"that was very well known in anatomical "},{"startTime":427.44,"endTime":433.68,"body":"modeling and some patient stimulation, "},{"startTime":433.68,"endTime":439.68,"body":"but predominantly had a stake with nursing "},{"startTime":433.68,"endTime":439.68,"body":"education in the military. We really  "},{"startTime":440.82,"endTime":445.92,"body":"worked very closely with thought leaders in the "},{"startTime":440.82,"endTime":445.92,"body":"industry and I come from a family of nurses so I  "},{"startTime":445.92,"endTime":451.92,"body":"was really I came well equipped to really "},{"startTime":445.92,"endTime":451.92,"body":"embrace working with nurse educators."},{"startTime":452.76,"endTime":456.9,"body":"I have always been in sales and marketing but "},{"startTime":452.76,"endTime":456.9,"body":"also have an opportunity to work with product"},{"startTime":456.9,"endTime":465.72,"body":"development and that role is where I met Debra Spunt"},{"startTime":456.9,"endTime":465.72,"body":"and I asked her to share with me what  "},{"startTime":465.72,"endTime":470.34,"body":"she did and why she was so passionate about "},{"startTime":465.72,"endTime":470.34,"body":"it and I will tell you she shared with me and  "},{"startTime":470.34,"endTime":475.08,"body":"spent a lot of time with me and educated me to "},{"startTime":470.34,"endTime":475.08,"body":"be the person that I am today when it comes to  "},{"startTime":475.08,"endTime":482.04,"body":"the importance of simulation in nursing education. "},{"startTime":475.08,"endTime":482.04,"body":"I think she also inspired me to take this up a  "},{"startTime":482.04,"endTime":490.68,"body":"notch. So fast forward to the year 1999 - Laerdal and "},{"startTime":482.04,"endTime":490.68,"body":"Medical Plastics had a joint venture.   "},{"startTime":490.68,"endTime":497.58,"body":"We manufactured a product together called Resusci Anne Modular System and to decide was the company, we're  "},{"startTime":497.58,"endTime":504.42,"body":"dating, would they eventually marry us? And they "},{"startTime":497.58,"endTime":504.42,"body":"did in the year 2000. Now in that time, we were  "},{"startTime":504.42,"endTime":511.86,"body":"also building a simulator and to converge both "},{"startTime":504.42,"endTime":511.86,"body":"the Laerdal technology with the Medical Plastics  "},{"startTime":512.46,"endTime":521.22,"body":"manikins we launched our first simulator called "},{"startTime":512.46,"endTime":521.22,"body":"SimMan. This was in the early 2000s. Now knowing  "},{"startTime":521.22,"endTime":526.62,"body":"what I knew about nursing education I thought "},{"startTime":521.22,"endTime":526.62,"body":"medicine is all about simulation, but the nursing  "},{"startTime":526.62,"endTime":533.46,"body":"market is really important and we need to find a "},{"startTime":526.62,"endTime":533.46,"body":"partner that can help us understand the research  "},{"startTime":533.46,"endTime":541.44,"body":"if there is any, and if there isn't any, how might "},{"startTime":533.46,"endTime":541.44,"body":"we partner with said organization. The NLN - I  "},{"startTime":541.44,"endTime":547.5,"body":"always went to the conference but I really didn't "},{"startTime":541.44,"endTime":547.5,"body":"know how to approach them, but I did know that a  "},{"startTime":547.5,"endTime":554.28,"body":"competitor of ours had a three-year agreement with "},{"startTime":547.5,"endTime":554.28,"body":"them to do research in simulation and I also heard  "},{"startTime":554.28,"endTime":560.88,"body":"that it wasn't going so well. So I made a trip "},{"startTime":554.28,"endTime":560.88,"body":"to New York City to meet with Ruth Corcoran, who  "},{"startTime":560.88,"endTime":567.6,"body":"was the CEO at the time, and Terry Valiga and I'll "},{"startTime":560.88,"endTime":567.6,"body":"tell you - they were tough cookies. They were like, so  "},{"startTime":568.26,"endTime":574.08,"body":"what is it that you have that's so different? "},{"startTime":568.26,"endTime":574.08,"body":"And they challenged us and so from there  "},{"startTime":574.08,"endTime":579.6,"body":"the company just grew flourished but the "},{"startTime":574.08,"endTime":579.6,"body":"partnership was really just getting  "},{"startTime":579.6,"endTime":585.18,"body":"to know people and build some trust among the "},{"startTime":579.6,"endTime":585.18,"body":"two organizations and really find some common  "},{"startTime":586.56,"endTime":594.12,"body":"synergies that we could work together on. So the "},{"startTime":586.56,"endTime":594.12,"body":"partnership has been evolving over the years,  "},{"startTime":594.12,"endTime":597.72,"body":"but this was really around getting started "},{"startTime":594.12,"endTime":597.72,"body":"and could simulation make a difference in  "},{"startTime":597.72,"endTime":604.86,"body":"nursing education and having Pam Jeffries and "},{"startTime":597.72,"endTime":604.86,"body":"Mary Anne Rizzolo as the orchestrators of  "},{"startTime":604.86,"endTime":608.94,"body":"this multi-site study that went on for three "},{"startTime":604.86,"endTime":608.94,"body":"years and we supported from the background  "},{"startTime":610.14,"endTime":616.38,"body":"and learned along with them. It was an amazing "},{"startTime":610.14,"endTime":616.38,"body":"transformation in nursing education and to see the  "},{"startTime":616.38,"endTime":622.92,"body":"pedagogy change, and the simulation design scale, "},{"startTime":616.38,"endTime":622.92,"body":"the framework that Pam developed get implemented  "},{"startTime":622.92,"endTime":630.72,"body":"across the world, has been phenomenal. And just to "},{"startTime":622.92,"endTime":630.72,"body":"tap into that, how I got to meet Cansu was I served  "},{"startTime":631.44,"endTime":636.6,"body":"three years as the managing director in the UK "},{"startTime":631.44,"endTime":636.6,"body":"and Ireland and then I came back to the States and  "},{"startTime":636.6,"endTime":642.3,"body":"did a business development role, but then I was "},{"startTime":636.6,"endTime":642.3,"body":"asked to go and manage our Asia Pacific region  "},{"startTime":642.3,"endTime":647.4,"body":"for three years based in Hong Kong, but traveled "},{"startTime":642.3,"endTime":647.4,"body":"all across. In one meeting I made a trip to  "},{"startTime":647.4,"endTime":654.78,"body":"Norway and I met Cansu there and she was such a "},{"startTime":647.4,"endTime":654.78,"body":"lively individual and she was really facilitating  "},{"startTime":654.78,"endTime":659.4,"body":"some dialogues and workshops and you know, I just "},{"startTime":654.78,"endTime":659.4,"body":"clicked with her and I thought this lady has a lot  "},{"startTime":659.4,"endTime":666.3,"body":"to offer. I've got to get to know her a little "},{"startTime":659.4,"endTime":666.3,"body":"bit better. So we talked over the years and  "},{"startTime":666.3,"endTime":671.22,"body":"then this project has really kind of brought "},{"startTime":666.3,"endTime":671.22,"body":"us together closer. Her work in nursing education,  "},{"startTime":671.22,"endTime":677.28,"body":"her role as it evolved from the global health side "},{"startTime":671.22,"endTime":677.28,"body":"to her nursing role now has really put us together  "},{"startTime":677.28,"endTime":683.1,"body":"and I think, yes, I've been around a few years "},{"startTime":677.28,"endTime":683.1,"body":"and so Cansu being a young in the organization  "},{"startTime":683.1,"endTime":688.32,"body":"in this field she has said Rosie, can you help "},{"startTime":683.1,"endTime":688.32,"body":"me and we just connect. We connect regularly to  "},{"startTime":688.32,"endTime":694.44,"body":"talk about issues in different parts of the world, "},{"startTime":688.32,"endTime":694.44,"body":"but the beautiful thing is we can take what we've  "},{"startTime":694.44,"endTime":700.8,"body":"learned in North America and we can leapfrog in "},{"startTime":694.44,"endTime":700.8,"body":"other countries and those countries want to know  "},{"startTime":700.8,"endTime":707.22,"body":"how we're doing simulation here and we did with "},{"startTime":700.8,"endTime":707.22,"body":"the NLN's help launch a program in China in 2017.  "},{"startTime":707.22,"endTime":713.04,"body":"It was quite successful. So hopefully that helps "},{"startTime":707.22,"endTime":713.04,"body":"you connect the dots and the breadcrumbs with us.  "},{"startTime":713.82,"endTime":720.42,"body":"That is amazing Rosie and what I'm hearing is "},{"startTime":713.82,"endTime":720.42,"body":"first of all, I think it's so incredible that you  "},{"startTime":720.42,"endTime":727.74,"body":"were there at this like moment where that question "},{"startTime":720.42,"endTime":727.74,"body":"was being first asked, like can simulation support  "},{"startTime":727.74,"endTime":733.56,"body":"nursing education? And to be there at that"},{"startTime":727.74,"endTime":733.56,"body":"pinnacle moment and I don't mean to be super  "},{"startTime":733.56,"endTime":738.06,"body":"dramatic about it, but it is so important to "},{"startTime":733.56,"endTime":738.06,"body":"me because simulation has been such a central part  "},{"startTime":738.06,"endTime":744.54,"body":"of my development and specialty in teaching. "},{"startTime":738.06,"endTime":744.54,"body":"I remember the moment I saw simulation "},{"startTime":744.54,"endTime":750.0,"body":"for the first time I was like - this is it. It "},{"startTime":744.54,"endTime":750.0,"body":"just clicked. It just made sense to me so for you  "},{"startTime":750.0,"endTime":755.52,"body":"to be there at those first moments "},{"startTime":750.0,"endTime":755.52,"body":"where those stakeholders and those partners  "},{"startTime":756.42,"endTime":762.3,"body":"and those collaborations were coming together. "},{"startTime":756.42,"endTime":762.3,"body":"Pam Jeffries and Mary Anne Rizzolo and  "},{"startTime":762.3,"endTime":768.6,"body":"and many others were were helping to take what "},{"startTime":762.3,"endTime":768.6,"body":"medicine had started and I would even say military,  "},{"startTime":768.6,"endTime":773.76,"body":"right, you mentioned the military and our other "},{"startTime":768.6,"endTime":773.76,"body":"interdisciplinary partners where we get inspired  "},{"startTime":775.62,"endTime":781.32,"body":"where that was kind of being these first few "},{"startTime":775.62,"endTime":781.32,"body":"leaders in nursing education were taking that and  "},{"startTime":781.32,"endTime":788.28,"body":"pulling it into our current curricula our current "},{"startTime":781.32,"endTime":788.28,"body":"teaching strategies, I just think that's amazing.  "},{"startTime":788.28,"endTime":794.64,"body":"Then this intersection with Cansu where I "},{"startTime":788.28,"endTime":794.64,"body":"think Cansu,  I see you as having this energy and this  "},{"startTime":794.64,"endTime":801.84,"body":"passion and fire of making change "},{"startTime":794.64,"endTime":801.84,"body":"and Innovation happen right now  "},{"startTime":801.84,"endTime":806.4,"body":"but more importantly I think in the future. "},{"startTime":801.84,"endTime":806.4,"body":"You're at this part where you and  "},{"startTime":806.4,"endTime":812.04,"body":"Rosie have come together with Rosie's"},{"startTime":806.4,"endTime":812.04,"body":"foundation in simulation and then the two of  "},{"startTime":812.04,"endTime":819.24,"body":"you pushing forward into how can we really propel "},{"startTime":812.04,"endTime":819.24,"body":"nursing education and make it better.  "},{"startTime":819.24,"endTime":827.22,"body":"We're going to get into that. I'll, as a "},{"startTime":819.24,"endTime":827.22,"body":"little kind of a precursor, right, we're going to  "},{"startTime":827.22,"endTime":832.68,"body":"talk about some competency-based education. We're "},{"startTime":827.22,"endTime":832.68,"body":"going to get to that, but I think is  "},{"startTime":832.68,"endTime":840.96,"body":"where we're hoping to go. I think Cansu you're "},{"startTime":832.68,"endTime":840.96,"body":"just the person to help lead nursing education in  "},{"startTime":840.96,"endTime":846.12,"body":"that way and really support nursing education to "},{"startTime":840.96,"endTime":846.12,"body":"move in that direction because it's challenging so  "},{"startTime":847.32,"endTime":855.18,"body":"thank you both for sharing that. I will also share "},{"startTime":847.32,"endTime":855.18,"body":"that where I also intersect with both of you is  "},{"startTime":855.18,"endTime":862.38,"body":"with a few breadcrumbs that I've had is I "},{"startTime":855.18,"endTime":862.38,"body":"started my teaching in the academic setting in  "},{"startTime":862.38,"endTime":869.04,"body":"2010. I started in a small community college and I "},{"startTime":862.38,"endTime":869.04,"body":"was there for maybe five minutes and the director  "},{"startTime":869.04,"endTime":875.1,"body":"came to me and said, you know, we've got this manikin."},{"startTime":869.04,"endTime":875.1,"body":"It's in a box.  "},{"startTime":875.1,"endTime":880.02,"body":"I also heard that Pam Jeffries at Johns "},{"startTime":875.1,"endTime":880.02,"body":"Hopkins is running this statewide consortium  "},{"startTime":880.02,"endTime":885.6,"body":"thing and I have to send somebody and it looks "},{"startTime":880.02,"endTime":885.6,"body":"like you, I bet you like technology, don't you?   "},{"startTime":885.6,"endTime":891.72,"body":"I was like, sure I guess, I mean I know how "},{"startTime":885.6,"endTime":891.72,"body":"email works. We knew that there were several  "},{"startTime":1142.22,"endTime":1147.02,"body":"angles but really to understand could there be a "},{"startTime":1142.22,"endTime":1147.02,"body":"standardized method in which we could measure and  "},{"startTime":1147.02,"endTime":1152.6,"body":"evaluate and debrief simulations? And I would say "},{"startTime":1147.02,"endTime":1152.6,"body":"that that first three years set the foundation  "},{"startTime":1152.6,"endTime":1158.3,"body":"and the icing on our cake was the book that was "},{"startTime":1152.6,"endTime":1158.3,"body":"published, that was not in the scope of work by  "},{"startTime":1158.3,"endTime":1165.5,"body":"the way. The book that was published came after "},{"startTime":1158.3,"endTime":1165.5,"body":"the fact. Tore Laerdal is a very creative,  "},{"startTime":1167.42,"endTime":1172.16,"body":"a generous person. He looked at some of the artwork "},{"startTime":1167.42,"endTime":1172.16,"body":"and said, you know, I think Laerdal can maybe help  "},{"startTime":1172.16,"endTime":1177.62,"body":"with some of this and we can make it look much "},{"startTime":1172.16,"endTime":1177.62,"body":"nicer. So of course the graphic artist got  "},{"startTime":1177.62,"endTime":1184.22,"body":"involved and helped with making sure that "},{"startTime":1177.62,"endTime":1184.22,"body":"this book was very well articulated and"},{"startTime":1184.22,"endTime":1190.88,"body":"had the right artwork in it. He became very "},{"startTime":1184.22,"endTime":1190.88,"body":"interested in dissemination and so from there he  "},{"startTime":1190.88,"endTime":1196.04,"body":"said, okay, how will we disseminate this and what "},{"startTime":1190.88,"endTime":1196.04,"body":"is the next step that's needed? And Pam Jeffries  "},{"startTime":1196.04,"endTime":1202.82,"body":"said faculty development is a big gap."},{"startTime":1196.04,"endTime":1202.82,"body":"It's one thing to now have the research. It's  "},{"startTime":1202.82,"endTime":1208.16,"body":"another thing to educate the faculty in how to "},{"startTime":1202.82,"endTime":1208.16,"body":"use simulation and how to integrate it into the  "},{"startTime":1208.16,"endTime":1214.76,"body":"curriculum. So we said about developing this "},{"startTime":1208.16,"endTime":1214.76,"body":"online learning program called SIRC - Simulation  "},{"startTime":1214.76,"endTime":1220.4,"body":"Innovation Resource Center - where we had these "},{"startTime":1214.76,"endTime":1220.4,"body":"faculty development online modules. That  "},{"startTime":1220.4,"endTime":1225.32,"body":"was in order to help, but the NLN really pushed "},{"startTime":1220.4,"endTime":1225.32,"body":"forward with this to say, look -"},{"startTime":1225.32,"endTime":1230.06,"body":"we'll give you CEs if you take these courses "},{"startTime":1225.32,"endTime":1230.06,"body":"and they will help your faculty. So we had  "},{"startTime":1230.06,"endTime":1236.3,"body":"to meet the expert immersed  in the "},{"startTime":1230.06,"endTime":1236.3,"body":"modules and so this became a way to help to really  "},{"startTime":1236.3,"endTime":1244.16,"body":"proliferate simulation education and nursing."},{"startTime":1236.3,"endTime":1244.16,"body":"That was in 2006. So the research was 2003, SIRC was 2006,"},{"startTime":1244.16,"endTime":1251.12,"body":"and 2009 we did more things and this evolved over "},{"startTime":1244.16,"endTime":1251.12,"body":"many things but they all built off of that same  "},{"startTime":1251.12,"endTime":1257.84,"body":"simulation design framework and it was "},{"startTime":1251.12,"endTime":1257.84,"body":"scaffolding over time and to say that this was  "},{"startTime":1257.84,"endTime":1265.16,"body":"not just in North America. This was known in other "},{"startTime":1257.84,"endTime":1265.16,"body":"countries and we had representation  "},{"startTime":1265.16,"endTime":1270.56,"body":"as I said in many countries with "},{"startTime":1265.16,"endTime":1270.56,"body":"Pam Jeffries, Mary Anne, Sue Forneris, Bev Malone  "},{"startTime":1271.82,"endTime":1278.48,"body":"and this has just grown over time. I think "},{"startTime":1271.82,"endTime":1278.48,"body":"with the future ahead of us there's so much  "},{"startTime":1278.48,"endTime":1283.16,"body":"more we could do. This is just the early days.  "},{"startTime":1283.82,"endTime":1288.8,"body":"That's amazing and I definitely "},{"startTime":1283.82,"endTime":1288.8,"body":"want to get to this  "},{"startTime":1288.8,"endTime":1294.44,"body":"conversation about where we're going in the future "},{"startTime":1288.8,"endTime":1294.44,"body":"especially with CBE or competency-based education.  "},{"startTime":1295.7,"endTime":1299.9,"body":"Before we get to that part though, Cansu, I was"},{"startTime":1295.7,"endTime":1299.9,"body":"wondering if you can share a little bit  "},{"startTime":1299.9,"endTime":1307.82,"body":"about sort of the daily work of innovation. "},{"startTime":1299.9,"endTime":1307.82,"body":"It's one thing to be partners with two  "},{"startTime":1308.72,"endTime":1316.46,"body":"organizations that are very busy and have "},{"startTime":1308.72,"endTime":1316.46,"body":"a big reach, that's like on a macro level.  "},{"startTime":1316.46,"endTime":1322.64,"body":"But on this micro day-to-day level, how does "},{"startTime":1316.46,"endTime":1322.64,"body":"innovation get done? I think you being  "},{"startTime":1323.36,"endTime":1329.36,"body":"the design expert, I'd like to hear "},{"startTime":1323.36,"endTime":1329.36,"body":"how from your perspective how you see that.  "},{"startTime":1330.32,"endTime":1336.62,"body":"You know, there is no recipe for innovation, but "},{"startTime":1330.32,"endTime":1336.62,"body":"there are definitely good principles and work  "},{"startTime":1336.62,"endTime":1343.34,"body":"cultures and partnerships that can help innovation. "},{"startTime":1336.62,"endTime":1343.34,"body":"So maybe it could also help a little bit about how  "},{"startTime":1344.48,"endTime":1350.72,"body":"the different professions get involved in a way "},{"startTime":1344.48,"endTime":1350.72,"body":"in innovation. The health care education team  "},{"startTime":1350.72,"endTime":1356.42,"body":"that I'm heading up, we craft the vision and "},{"startTime":1350.72,"endTime":1356.42,"body":"strategy and the rolling action plans towards  "},{"startTime":1356.42,"endTime":1362.0,"body":"competency-based education and in close "},{"startTime":1356.42,"endTime":1362.0,"body":"collaboration with the NLN, but also the  "},{"startTime":1362.0,"endTime":1370.1,"body":"NLN member institutions. We really work from early "},{"startTime":1362.0,"endTime":1370.1,"body":"days of exploration, discovery, need finding all the  "},{"startTime":1370.1,"endTime":1377.6,"body":"way through concept development and delivery "},{"startTime":1370.1,"endTime":1377.6,"body":"of solutions, but also the implementation as  "},{"startTime":1377.6,"endTime":1384.86,"body":"well. It's from that really open questions "},{"startTime":1377.6,"endTime":1384.86,"body":"that we've been asking to those institutions  "},{"startTime":1384.86,"endTime":1391.58,"body":"and the educators where I appreciated the primary "},{"startTime":1384.86,"endTime":1391.58,"body":"challenges that are faced: the shortage of faculty  "},{"startTime":1391.58,"endTime":1399.2,"body":"and lack of clinical sites. And despite those "},{"startTime":1391.58,"endTime":1399.2,"body":"challenges, the pressure to educate more students  "},{"startTime":1399.2,"endTime":1408.02,"body":"at a higher quality. When you look at how that "},{"startTime":1399.2,"endTime":1408.02,"body":"translates to what we then offer as solutions,  "},{"startTime":1408.68,"endTime":1414.68,"body":"it's really tools that help with educational "},{"startTime":1408.68,"endTime":1414.68,"body":"strategies like peer-assisted learning or  "},{"startTime":1414.68,"endTime":1421.34,"body":"self-directed learning where the goal is to "},{"startTime":1414.68,"endTime":1421.34,"body":"offload the faculty as much as possible but also,  "},{"startTime":1422.06,"endTime":1427.88,"body":"for instance, tools that will enable them to "},{"startTime":1422.06,"endTime":1427.88,"body":"collect and track data on the student performance  "},{"startTime":1427.88,"endTime":1433.22,"body":"over time so they can actually take in and educate "},{"startTime":1427.88,"endTime":1433.22,"body":"more students. When it comes to"},{"startTime":1433.22,"endTime":1439.22,"body":"clinical placement as well, there are alternative "},{"startTime":1433.22,"endTime":1439.22,"body":"ways that we could provide clinical preparedness  "},{"startTime":1439.22,"endTime":1445.88,"body":"such as the simulation solutions of "},{"startTime":1439.22,"endTime":1445.88,"body":"course, but also using virtual reality that we  "},{"startTime":1445.88,"endTime":1454.34,"body":"can talk about later as well.
