So I'm glad to have  "},{"startTime":72.8,"endTime":78.12,"body":"you here today so we can talk a little bit more "},{"startTime":72.8,"endTime":78.12,"body":"about this call to action and what kind of brought  "},{"startTime":78.12,"endTime":83.08,"body":"you to writing this article. So first, before we "},{"startTime":78.12,"endTime":83.08,"body":"begin and really get into it, do you mind just  "},{"startTime":83.08,"endTime":89.04,"body":"introducing yourself. Yeah, absolutely Kellie. Thanks "},{"startTime":83.08,"endTime":89.04,"body":"for having me on. I'm really excited to share some  "},{"startTime":89.04,"endTime":94.48,"body":"of this information with the National League for "},{"startTime":89.04,"endTime":94.48,"body":"Nursing and your members. So for those I haven't  "},{"startTime":94.48,"endTime":100.12,"body":"met, I'm Lou Clark and I'm the current president "},{"startTime":94.48,"endTime":100.12,"body":"of the Association of SP Educators, ASPE,  "},{"startTime":100.12,"endTime":106.48,"body":"and for those who don't know us you can find us "},{"startTime":100.12,"endTime":106.48,"body":"at aspeducators.org. We're a global organization  "},{"startTime":106.48,"endTime":114.28,"body":"we've been around for going on 25 years and our "},{"startTime":106.48,"endTime":114.28,"body":"whole mission is to promote human interaction in  "},{"startTime":114.28,"endTime":121.48,"body":"healthcare education and training working with "},{"startTime":114.28,"endTime":121.48,"body":"our simulated participants using SP methodology  "},{"startTime":121.48,"endTime":128.16,"body":"but not using people. So that's is really the "},{"startTime":121.48,"endTime":128.16,"body":"heart of this call to action. And for those  "},{"startTime":128.16,"endTime":135.48,"body":"unfamiliar, SPs are individuals trained to portray "},{"startTime":128.16,"endTime":135.48,"body":"a role, to give constructive feedback to learners,  "},{"startTime":135.48,"endTime":142.72,"body":"and they're really the heart of what we do as "},{"startTime":135.48,"endTime":142.72,"body":"SP educators is we guide, we coach, we safeguard  "},{"startTime":142.72,"endTime":148.8,"body":"our SPs through this process because unlike other "},{"startTime":142.72,"endTime":148.8,"body":"sort of simulation modalities that are essentially  "},{"startTime":148.8,"endTime":155.28,"body":"inanimate, which are tools for learning, SPs are not. "},{"startTime":148.8,"endTime":155.28,"body":"They're human beings and that's at the heart of  "},{"startTime":155.28,"endTime":163.48,"body":"this. So the reason that I came together with the "},{"startTime":155.28,"endTime":163.48,"body":"nine other authors of this short call to action is  "},{"startTime":163.48,"endTime":169.96,"body":"that over the years we've all sort of experienced "},{"startTime":163.48,"endTime":169.96,"body":"different language use, different ways people  "},{"startTime":169.96,"endTime":178.12,"body":"interact with SPs, with us as SP educators, and we "},{"startTime":169.96,"endTime":178.12,"body":"felt it was time to sort of come out and say the  "},{"startTime":178.12,"endTime":184.24,"body":"things that we know in our community that are sort "},{"startTime":178.12,"endTime":184.24,"body":"of tacit in a way when we're around others who  "},{"startTime":184.24,"endTime":190.12,"body":"are not immersed in the work. And we thought, let's "},{"startTime":184.24,"endTime":190.12,"body":"just, you know, get it on the record for everybody.  "},{"startTime":190.12,"endTime":196.6,"body":"This is how we want people to talk about it. And "},{"startTime":190.12,"endTime":196.6,"body":"it's on us, right, to get together and say this is  "},{"startTime":196.6,"endTime":203.64,"body":"please do this. So we wanted to issue a call "},{"startTime":196.6,"endTime":203.64,"body":"that anybody can join us. We want everybody to  "},{"startTime":203.64,"endTime":210.32,"body":"join us. We want to be inclusive about how we "},{"startTime":203.64,"endTime":210.32,"body":"approach it and we don't want to shame anyone  "},{"startTime":210.32,"endTime":215.16,"body":"who have been doing some of the things we write "},{"startTime":210.32,"endTime":215.16,"body":"about in the call. That's what...that is not what  "},{"startTime":215.16,"endTime":221.04,"body":"this is about. This is about saying join us, come "},{"startTime":215.16,"endTime":221.04,"body":"on, get, come with us. We want you to get on board  "},{"startTime":221.04,"endTime":228.2,"body":"and the inclusivity train of working with SPs "},{"startTime":221.04,"endTime":228.2,"body":"and SP educators. Great, so you kind of answered  "},{"startTime":228.2,"endTime":234.28,"body":"my first question, which was what inspired you to "},{"startTime":228.2,"endTime":234.28,"body":"write the article. But what was the biggest message  "},{"startTime":234.28,"endTime":240.28,"body":"that you wanted simulationists to kind of take "},{"startTime":234.28,"endTime":240.28,"body":"away from reading that article? Yeah, so I think  "},{"startTime":240.28,"endTime":247.8,"body":"it evolved as we wrote it. And the biggest sort "},{"startTime":240.28,"endTime":247.8,"body":"of, what makes this piece different than some that  "},{"startTime":247.8,"endTime":254.36,"body":"have come before is some of the messages have been "},{"startTime":247.8,"endTime":254.36,"body":"written about for years quite honestly. So Debra  "},{"startTime":254.36,"endTime":261.04,"body":"Nestel in Australia has been a real champion for "},{"startTime":254.36,"endTime":261.04,"body":"the phrase simulated participant. I really have to  "},{"startTime":261.04,"endTime":267.8,"body":"credit her because she's come out early years "},{"startTime":261.04,"endTime":267.8,"body":"ago and said we really need a more inclusive  "},{"startTime":267.8,"endTime":275.72,"body":"term for describing the work that SPs do. And while "},{"startTime":267.8,"endTime":275.72,"body":"a bulk of the work of course is in healthcare  "},{"startTime":275.72,"endTime":282.32,"body":"importantly, the other thing that makes SPs "},{"startTime":275.72,"endTime":282.32,"body":"really in interesting and unique in our work is  "},{"startTime":282.32,"endTime":288.2,"body":"that we go beyond healthcare. We work with police "},{"startTime":282.32,"endTime":288.2,"body":"departments. We work with superintendent of schools  "},{"startTime":288.2,"endTime":295.0,"body":"and leaders to train them in conflict management "},{"startTime":288.2,"endTime":295.0,"body":"and other types of communication related skills.  "},{"startTime":295.0,"endTime":303.88,"body":"I've developed a training for chaplains in the "},{"startTime":295.0,"endTime":303.88,"body":"Marines using SP methodology but not using SPs. And  "},{"startTime":303.88,"endTime":310.72,"body":"so I really want to credit Debra and so what "},{"startTime":303.88,"endTime":310.72,"body":"makes this a little bit different is that 10 of us  "},{"startTime":310.72,"endTime":316.8,"body":"from around the world decided we're going to get "},{"startTime":310.72,"endTime":316.8,"body":"together in a concentrated, short period of time  "},{"startTime":316.8,"endTime":322.76,"body":"and we're going to almost like, I would say, we had "},{"startTime":316.8,"endTime":322.76,"body":"a little idea think tank, right, last spring and we  "},{"startTime":322.76,"endTime":329.76,"body":"said, you know what, we are just so uncomfortable "},{"startTime":322.76,"endTime":329.76,"body":"seeing the phrase using, using, using SPs. We don't  "},{"startTime":329.76,"endTime":336.72,"body":"want people to do that anymore. And then at the "},{"startTime":329.76,"endTime":336.72,"body":"same time, members within ASPE, you know, we had  "},{"startTime":336.72,"endTime":342.68,"body":"done a compensation study quite frankly in our "},{"startTime":336.72,"endTime":342.68,"body":"last membership survey and we found that we really  "},{"startTime":342.68,"endTime":352.56,"body":"need to better describe in detail the work that SP, "},{"startTime":342.68,"endTime":352.56,"body":"educators perform. So what makes this different, I  "},{"startTime":352.56,"endTime":356.24,"body":"had hoped you'd ask this question. I'm going to "},{"startTime":352.56,"endTime":356.24,"body":"read the sentence that I think makes it really  "},{"startTime":356.24,"endTime":362.0,"body":"different, which is the end of the first paragraph "},{"startTime":356.24,"endTime":362.0,"body":"and it's says, \"We call the global simulation  "},{"startTime":362.0,"endTime":369.24,"body":"community to action now because, as leaders, "},{"startTime":362.0,"endTime":369.24,"body":"we recognize our responsibility to examine key  "},{"startTime":369.24,"endTime":377.36,"body":"tenets core to SP methodology in a novel way "},{"startTime":369.24,"endTime":377.36,"body":"that explicitly amplifies the hidden work of  "},{"startTime":377.36,"endTime":385.8,"body":"SP educators in relation to the contributions of "},{"startTime":377.36,"endTime":385.8,"body":"SPs.\" To me, that's the heart of what is different  "},{"startTime":385.8,"endTime":392.28,"body":"because the hidden work, the work that people"},{"startTime":385.8,"endTime":392.28,"body":"don't see, we need to call it out. It's like any  "},{"startTime":392.28,"endTime":397.88,"body":"profession. There's so much that goes on behind "},{"startTime":392.28,"endTime":397.88,"body":"the scenes and in order to truly value it, to  "},{"startTime":397.88,"endTime":405.16,"body":"compensate SP educators accurately, to understand "},{"startTime":397.88,"endTime":405.16,"body":"why these people are needed, why were needed, and  "},{"startTime":405.16,"endTime":411.16,"body":"to support and guide the SPs and provide that "},{"startTime":405.16,"endTime":411.16,"body":"safety, we have to say it. And so that's to me what  "},{"startTime":411.16,"endTime":416.96,"body":"makes this different than other, you know, really "},{"startTime":411.16,"endTime":416.96,"body":"great pieces that have come before it that touch  "},{"startTime":416.96,"endTime":422.56,"body":"on other aspects of this. Absolutely, even for me it "},{"startTime":416.96,"endTime":422.56,"body":"was a aha moment. I've been in simulation for about  "},{"startTime":422.56,"endTime":428.96,"body":"16 years and I felt the article was speaking to me "},{"startTime":422.56,"endTime":428.96,"body":"because some of the things that you talked about  "},{"startTime":428.96,"endTime":434.52,"body":"like oh, I have a SP case. I'm using a SP. That's "},{"startTime":428.96,"endTime":434.52,"body":"been in my vocabulary and that article made me  "},{"startTime":434.52,"endTime":439.04,"body":"pause and said, let me really rephrase and rethink "},{"startTime":434.52,"endTime":439.04,"body":"the way that I'm, you know, it's almost like I'm  "},{"startTime":439.04,"endTime":445.6,"body":"taking, you know, individual and turning into a "},{"startTime":439.04,"endTime":445.6,"body":"piece of equipment or you know so I do appreciate  "},{"startTime":445.6,"endTime":452.12,"body":"this article so much and I think you know we "},{"startTime":445.6,"endTime":452.12,"body":"needed this. One of the other questions I  "},{"startTime":452.12,"endTime":456.72,"body":"have for people because a lot of people are new "},{"startTime":452.12,"endTime":456.72,"body":"to simulation or maybe they haven't had kind of  "},{"startTime":456.72,"endTime":465.08,"body":"that training or education on how to incorporate "},{"startTime":456.72,"endTime":465.08,"body":"SP methodology into their curriculum, so how can  "},{"startTime":465.08,"endTime":470.44,"body":"simulation programs and simulation is whether "},{"startTime":465.08,"endTime":470.44,"body":"it's directors or deans, ensure that simulated  "},{"startTime":470.44,"endTime":478.48,"body":"participants feel valued, respected, and integral "},{"startTime":470.44,"endTime":478.48,"body":"to the education process? I love that question  "},{"startTime":478.48,"endTime":484.28,"body":"and I think there's so many ways that are sort of "},{"startTime":478.48,"endTime":484.28,"body":"local ways, bigger ways. I think just from a really  "},{"startTime":484.28,"endTime":492.76,"body":"local perspective if you are part of a sim program "},{"startTime":484.28,"endTime":492.76,"body":"that has an SP program as part of your say a more  "},{"startTime":492.76,"endTime":497.36,"body":"comprehensive program that also has technical "},{"startTime":492.76,"endTime":497.36,"body":"simulation. My home institution is University  "},{"startTime":497.36,"endTime":504.44,"body":"of Minnesota and we have, that I happen to be the "},{"startTime":497.36,"endTime":504.44,"body":"executive director there, and so in my role I think  "},{"startTime":504.44,"endTime":511.28,"body":"it's meaningful for the SPs and the SP educators "},{"startTime":504.44,"endTime":511.28,"body":"when I pop into the SP training room and I say  "},{"startTime":511.28,"endTime":518.56,"body":"thank you. Thank you for your work. I mean there are "},{"startTime":511.28,"endTime":518.56,"body":"such basic things that folks can do to demonstrate,  "},{"startTime":518.56,"endTime":523.56,"body":"who were in leadership roles, demonstrate I care "},{"startTime":518.56,"endTime":523.56,"body":"about the work you're doing. Tell them! You know,  "},{"startTime":523.56,"endTime":531.24,"body":"like send the occasional...simple and "},{"startTime":523.56,"endTime":531.24,"body":"free right, like send a message like if they've  "},{"startTime":531.24,"endTime":537.84,"body":"just done a major OSCE, send a message to them that "},{"startTime":531.24,"endTime":537.84,"body":"says we really appreciate everything you do to  "},{"startTime":537.84,"endTime":544.64,"body":"help our learners you know. That's another thing is "},{"startTime":537.84,"endTime":544.64,"body":"simple written communication. Some other kinds of  "},{"startTime":544.64,"endTime":552.28,"body":"ways that we talk about in our call to action "},{"startTime":544.64,"endTime":552.28,"body":"have to do with the full-time or part-time SP  "},{"startTime":552.28,"endTime":562.56,"body":"educators who create the events that, quite frankly, "},{"startTime":552.28,"endTime":562.56,"body":"lots of tenured faculty members write about to get  "},{"startTime":562.56,"endTime":569.52,"body":"their tenure, right. I've encountered this so many "},{"startTime":562.56,"endTime":569.52,"body":"times. My work before I got a doctorate, which I did  "},{"startTime":569.52,"endTime":575.04,"body":"later in my career and go on and get a faculty "},{"startTime":569.52,"endTime":575.04,"body":"member, my work has supported others in getting  "},{"startTime":575.04,"endTime":579.16,"body":"their tenure and there have been times where "},{"startTime":575.04,"endTime":579.16,"body":"maybe I've been acknowledged, which is always  "},{"startTime":579.16,"endTime":586.44,"body":"nice, but when you don't have that authorship, that "},{"startTime":579.16,"endTime":586.44,"body":"equal, collaborative authorship on the work that  "},{"startTime":586.44,"endTime":592.72,"body":"would not have been possible with your labor, it's "},{"startTime":586.44,"endTime":592.72,"body":"holding back an entire profession quite frankly.  "},{"startTime":592.72,"endTime":599.6,"body":"And I don't think it's intentional, which is the "},{"startTime":592.72,"endTime":599.6,"body":"other piece we're really getting at, which is very  "},{"startTime":599.6,"endTime":606.08,"body":"explicit and I think a novel thing in this piece "},{"startTime":599.6,"endTime":606.08,"body":"is saying - there are people coming up as  "},{"startTime":606.08,"endTime":611.52,"body":"SP educators and what was really great in my "},{"startTime":606.08,"endTime":611.52,"body":"experience, I started off at the University of  "},{"startTime":611.52,"endTime":617.84,"body":"New Mexico and was put on a small grant project "},{"startTime":611.52,"endTime":617.84,"body":"my second week of work and it changed my life  "},{"startTime":617.84,"endTime":623.28,"body":"because I had mentorship. And people recognized "},{"startTime":617.84,"endTime":623.28,"body":"that they thought this is a person who may go  "},{"startTime":623.28,"endTime":629.44,"body":"on in this career field. I was hired as an SP "},{"startTime":623.28,"endTime":629.44,"body":"trainer. I love the University of New Mexico,  "},{"startTime":629.44,"endTime":634.64,"body":"was still friends with them. I got my Master's "},{"startTime":629.44,"endTime":634.64,"body":"of Fine Arts and playwriting there and they  "},{"startTime":634.64,"endTime":639.96,"body":"hired me and realized I had an aptitude for "},{"startTime":634.64,"endTime":639.96,"body":"writing curriculum that was SP based because  "},{"startTime":639.96,"endTime":647.72,"body":"I understood writing a script that was brought to "},{"startTime":639.96,"endTime":647.72,"body":"life. And so I'm really grateful to the people who  "},{"startTime":647.72,"endTime":653.16,"body":"mentored me there. And I think it's about mentoring. "},{"startTime":647.72,"endTime":653.16,"body":"It's about looking at the transferable skills that  "},{"startTime":653.16,"endTime":659.4,"body":"your SP educators have and recognizing that "},{"startTime":653.16,"endTime":659.4,"body":"the skills that go with things like developing  "},{"startTime":659.4,"endTime":667.08,"body":"SP case, that go with training, these should be "},{"startTime":659.4,"endTime":667.08,"body":"things highlighted and included even briefly in  "},{"startTime":667.08,"endTime":673.96,"body":"peer-reviewed publications. And SP educators should "},{"startTime":667.08,"endTime":673.96,"body":"be included as co-authors, you know. And that, that  "},{"startTime":673.96,"endTime":678.56,"body":"changed my life. They stuck me in the middle of "},{"startTime":673.96,"endTime":678.56,"body":"like of a bunch of authors and it didn't matter.  "},{"startTime":678.56,"endTime":686.4,"body":"They introduced me to the process and that was "},{"startTime":678.56,"endTime":686.4,"body":"a really big deal. That was 18 years ago. Wow. And  "},{"startTime":686.4,"endTime":692.32,"body":"talk about finding a way to value SPs. I think "},{"startTime":686.4,"endTime":692.32,"body":"for a lot of simulation programs when they think  "},{"startTime":692.32,"endTime":697.0,"body":"of collaborating with SPs it's simply, you're "},{"startTime":692.32,"endTime":697.0,"body":"in this scenario. I need you to play the role of  "},{"startTime":697.0,"endTime":702.16,"body":"the patient and that's it. And so I love the fact "},{"startTime":697.0,"endTime":702.16,"body":"that you really just then explained that it's so  "},{"startTime":702.16,"endTime":710.64,"body":"SPs can contribute so much more to our simulation "},{"startTime":702.16,"endTime":710.64,"body":"curriculum. Yeah, and I should, I should add to that  "},{"startTime":710.64,"endTime":717.28,"body":"another way to value the SPs is you know asking "},{"startTime":710.64,"endTime":717.28,"body":"their perspective and paying for their time for  "},{"startTime":717.28,"endTime":723.36,"body":"that perspective. So if we're working on a new "},{"startTime":717.28,"endTime":723.36,"body":"piece of curriculum at our institution there  "},{"startTime":723.36,"endTime":729.96,"body":"are times we will ask SPs if they're comfortable "},{"startTime":723.36,"endTime":729.96,"body":"to give us some insights into the case. And  "},{"startTime":729.96,"endTime":734.24,"body":"that's really important you know depending on what "},{"startTime":729.96,"endTime":734.24,"body":"sort of curriculum you're working on. And I'll just  "},{"startTime":734.24,"endTime":741.6,"body":"say broadly, if you want to include voices from "},{"startTime":734.24,"endTime":741.6,"body":"underrepresented patient populations, it's really  "},{"startTime":741.6,"endTime":747.28,"body":"critical to involve them in developing those "},{"startTime":741.6,"endTime":747.28,"body":"scenarios so they are authentic and they  "},{"startTime":747.28,"endTime":752.84,"body":"are going to, really going to serve the learners "},{"startTime":747.28,"endTime":752.84,"body":"best ultimately in achieving clinical learning  "},{"startTime":752.84,"endTime":758.68,"body":"objectives when you are holistic about how you "},{"startTime":752.84,"endTime":758.68,"body":"develop it. And SPs are wonderful partners in  "},{"startTime":758.68,"endTime":763.52,"body":"that respect. Excellent and that kind of leads me "},{"startTime":758.68,"endTime":763.52,"body":"to my next question too. Can you share insights  "},{"startTime":763.52,"endTime":769.64,"body":"or examples how effective collaboration with "},{"startTime":763.52,"endTime":769.64,"body":"simulated participant educators has positively  "},{"startTime":769.64,"endTime":777.16,"body":"impacted learner outcomes? I mean, I look at our "},{"startTime":769.64,"endTime":777.16,"body":"whole profession quite honestly because it's  "},{"startTime":777.16,"endTime":784.16,"body":"interesting. This profession, SP education, goes "},{"startTime":777.16,"endTime":784.16,"body":"back to 1964 when Dr. Howard Barrows got the  "},{"startTime":784.16,"endTime":793.56,"body":"idea to innovate and work with SPs. And so for 60 "},{"startTime":784.16,"endTime":793.56,"body":"years this began as assessment, really. That's what...  "},{"startTime":793.56,"endTime":797.84,"body":"that's really...it started with him and and he was "},{"startTime":793.56,"endTime":797.84,"body":"working with neurology residents and then quickly  "},{"startTime":797.84,"endTime":806.36,"body":"went into medical schools taking this up to "},{"startTime":797.84,"endTime":806.36,"body":"assess learners. And there is tons of literature  "},{"startTime":806.36,"endTime":811.72,"body":"that for, you know, really if you look at the "},{"startTime":806.36,"endTime":811.72,"body":"1980s and 90s it was like a an explosion  "},{"startTime":811.72,"endTime":821.04,"body":"of literature about how SPs are incredibly valid "},{"startTime":811.72,"endTime":821.04,"body":"and reliable raters. So SP programs and you know  "},{"startTime":821.04,"endTime":828.8,"body":"it started more in medical education, so a lot "},{"startTime":821.04,"endTime":828.8,"body":"of physician educators and leaders had SPs doing  "},{"startTime":828.8,"endTime":835.36,"body":"the rating and what they also learned was it was "},{"startTime":828.8,"endTime":835.36,"body":"more cost effective for their institutions. That's  "},{"startTime":835.36,"endTime":841.6,"body":"really where this burgeoned and kind of went to "},{"startTime":835.36,"endTime":841.6,"body":"there and very I think very wonderfully...nursing  "},{"startTime":841.6,"endTime":848.76,"body":"began, pharmacy began. You saw other programs "},{"startTime":841.6,"endTime":848.76,"body":"in the 70s begin to experiment and quickly in  "},{"startTime":848.76,"endTime":854.88,"body":"the 80s people think, oh, nursing recently came "},{"startTime":848.76,"endTime":854.88,"body":"to this. No. The first nursing publication that  "},{"startTime":854.88,"endTime":864.92,"body":"discusses working with SPs is from the 1970s. So "},{"startTime":854.88,"endTime":864.92,"body":"what began as assessment is now more I think in  "},{"startTime":864.92,"endTime":871.44,"body":"an exciting way, different health sciences programs "},{"startTime":864.92,"endTime":871.44,"body":"are experimenting with formative sessions. And I  "},{"startTime":871.44,"endTime":879.12,"body":"see, I teach with SPs. I say with SPs. I'm a co-course "},{"startTime":871.44,"endTime":879.12,"body":"director. Yeah, so to kind of "},{"startTime":930.084,"endTime":935.92,"body":"bring it around to your question, I think there's  "},{"startTime":935.92,"endTime":941.72,"body":"just absolutely tons of evidence in the literature "},{"startTime":935.92,"endTime":941.72,"body":"for decades that SPs make valid and reliable  "},{"startTime":941.72,"endTime":947.16,"body":"raters when ... you're working on "},{"startTime":941.72,"endTime":947.16,"body":"assessments and that's across all kinds of health  "},{"startTime":947.16,"endTime":953.92,"body":"professions. And then just there is also literature "},{"startTime":947.16,"endTime":953.92,"body":"out there about the value and the contributions of  "},{"startTime":953.92,"endTime":963.04,"body":"SPs guided by going back to your question, guided "},{"startTime":953.92,"endTime":963.04,"body":"by SP educators for these formative sessions and  "},{"startTime":963.04,"endTime":969.68,"body":"what we all have to pay more attention to is in "},{"startTime":963.04,"endTime":969.68,"body":"our method sections in peer review articles not  "},{"startTime":969.68,"endTime":976.92,"body":"leaving out even a few sentences explaining how "},{"startTime":969.68,"endTime":976.92,"body":"the SPs are trained because that's been, that's  "},{"startTime":976.92,"endTime":983.4,"body":"historically been left out of a lot of method "},{"startTime":976.92,"endTime":983.4,"body":"sections. What are  "},{"startTime":1292.76,"endTime":1297.48,"body":"some of the trends and innovations that you see "},{"startTime":1292.76,"endTime":1297.48,"body":"in the field of simulation regarding the role of  "},{"startTime":1297.48,"endTime":1305.6,"body":"SPs? I appreciate that. I think it's critical "},{"startTime":1297.48,"endTime":1305.6,"body":"and I'm going to speak to SP and SP educator  "},{"startTime":1305.6,"endTime":1310.8,"body":"because I think it's really important to make that "},{"startTime":1305.6,"endTime":1310.8,"body":"distinction and the call to action does that. Again,  "},{"startTime":1310.8,"endTime":1318.72,"body":"kind of bringing it back that the SPs are often "},{"startTime":1310.8,"endTime":1318.72,"body":"front-facing with the learners. and I would say 80%  "},{"startTime":1318.72,"endTime":1326.44,"body":"of the work SP educators do including that work of "},{"startTime":1318.72,"endTime":1326.44,"body":"developing scenarios collaboratively,  "},{"startTime":1326.44,"endTime":1334.36,"body":"coaching the SPs on how to provide accurate and "},{"startTime":1326.44,"endTime":1334.36,"body":"helpful verbal and written feedback to learners,  "},{"startTime":1334.36,"endTime":1342.08,"body":"that is done in the shadows. And I'll tell  "},{"startTime":1352.88,"endTime":1359.84,"body":"you, in my almost 20 year career, I've had friends "},{"startTime":1352.88,"endTime":1359.84,"body":"sort of that are more familiar with technical sim  "},{"startTime":1359.84,"endTime":1367.2,"body":"kind of like, you know, kid me a little bit and say, "},{"startTime":1359.84,"endTime":1367.2,"body":"Lou you know, eh, you know there won't be SPs X many  "},{"startTime":1367.2,"endTime":1373.64,"body":"years from now. And my response to them is, I'm "},{"startTime":1367.2,"endTime":1373.64,"body":"still here. The SPs are still here. We got over  "},{"startTime":1373.64,"endTime":1378.64,"body":"a thousand, you know, we got close to a thousand "},{"startTime":1373.64,"endTime":1378.64,"body":"members in ASPE. And I think it's a collaboration.  "},{"startTime":1378.64,"endTime":1385.96,"body":"So I think we it's critical that we're "},{"startTime":1378.64,"endTime":1385.96,"body":"working collaboratively with technical simulation  "},{"startTime":1385.96,"endTime":1391.6,"body":"educators and colleagues and people who really "},{"startTime":1385.96,"endTime":1391.6,"body":"are into using the technical simulation modalities,  "},{"startTime":1391.6,"endTime":1398.8,"body":"people on the forefront of AI. I think it's "},{"startTime":1391.6,"endTime":1398.8,"body":"critical that we inform that work because at  "},{"startTime":1398.8,"endTime":1406.8,"body":"the end of the day, patients are human and so in "},{"startTime":1398.8,"endTime":1406.8,"body":"that respect, I think SPs are the highest fidelity,  "},{"startTime":1406.8,"endTime":1413.24,"body":"you know, simulation modality can get. And I think "},{"startTime":1406.8,"endTime":1413.24,"body":"SP educators are uniquely qualified individuals  "},{"startTime":1413.24,"endTime":1421.04,"body":"who understand what it takes to coach other people "},{"startTime":1413.24,"endTime":1421.04,"body":"to get the maximum benefit for learners. That's the  "},{"startTime":1421.04,"endTime":1428.44,"body":"gift that SP educators give.
