So can you describe what "},{"startTime":138.88,"endTime":150.0,"body":"the NLN Faculty Intensives course is and who  "},{"startTime":150.0,"endTime":157.68,"body":"is it designed for and and also kind of like what "},{"startTime":150.0,"endTime":157.68,"body":"drew you to become faculty of this course and its  "},{"startTime":157.68,"endTime":165.76,"body":"personal meaning to you? Nicole, do you want to "},{"startTime":157.68,"endTime":165.76,"body":"start? Sure. The emphasis for this course is built  "},{"startTime":165.76,"endTime":172.56,"body":"around instructional design, curricular mapping "},{"startTime":165.76,"endTime":172.56,"body":"and the science of teaching and learning. And one  "},{"startTime":172.56,"endTime":177.76,"body":"thing that really drew me to the course was I've "},{"startTime":172.56,"endTime":177.76,"body":"always believed that developing nurses takes far  "},{"startTime":177.76,"endTime":184.56,"body":"more than clinical expertise. And so just helping "},{"startTime":177.76,"endTime":184.56,"body":"my colleagues to move beyond just teaching content  "},{"startTime":184.56,"endTime":190.88,"body":"toward really intentionally designing meaning for "},{"startTime":184.56,"endTime":190.88,"body":"those learning experiences for our students. You  "},{"startTime":190.88,"endTime":196.08,"body":"know, we only get one day, sometimes a couple "},{"startTime":190.88,"endTime":196.08,"body":"of hours with our learners a week. So we really  "},{"startTime":196.08,"endTime":201.2,"body":"have to make every second count. and this course "},{"startTime":196.08,"endTime":201.2,"body":"moves learners through all those pieces so they  "},{"startTime":201.2,"endTime":207.04,"body":"can build the confidence to teach across learning "},{"startTime":201.2,"endTime":207.04,"body":"environments. That's what drew me to this course.  "},{"startTime":207.04,"endTime":212.56,"body":"I would agree with Nicole. You know, something "},{"startTime":207.04,"endTime":212.56,"body":"that hit me very hard early on was recognizing  "},{"startTime":212.56,"endTime":219.76,"body":"the transition, the very, very real transition "},{"startTime":212.56,"endTime":219.76,"body":"from expert expert clinician to novice educator.  "},{"startTime":219.76,"endTime":224.96,"body":"And a lot of us go through that transition when "},{"startTime":219.76,"endTime":224.96,"body":"we enter academia. And unfortunately, there's not  "},{"startTime":224.96,"endTime":231.6,"body":"a whole lot of time or resources or access even "},{"startTime":224.96,"endTime":231.6,"body":"from our mentors or our colleagues or from our  "},{"startTime":231.6,"endTime":236.8,"body":"administration when we enter academia to really "},{"startTime":231.6,"endTime":236.8,"body":"build the unique skill set that's grounded in the  "},{"startTime":236.8,"endTime":243.44,"body":"art and science of education. And so what really "},{"startTime":236.8,"endTime":243.44,"body":"drew me to be involved with Faculty Intensives is  "},{"startTime":243.44,"endTime":251.44,"body":"that a huge passion of mine is really focusing "},{"startTime":243.44,"endTime":251.44,"body":"on this paradigm shift from nurses who teach  "},{"startTime":251.44,"endTime":258.08,"body":"to educators who teach nursing. And that is two "},{"startTime":251.44,"endTime":258.08,"body":"very different things. And so I am very passionate  "},{"startTime":258.08,"endTime":266.08,"body":"about helping other faculty develop the skills "},{"startTime":258.08,"endTime":266.08,"body":"and really hone their art and their practice of  "},{"startTime":266.08,"endTime":271.28,"body":"teaching that's aligned with best practices across "},{"startTime":266.08,"endTime":271.28,"body":"multiple disciplines. So really in the cognitive  "},{"startTime":271.28,"endTime":277.6,"body":"science of learning and classical education, how "},{"startTime":271.28,"endTime":277.6,"body":"do we help our learners learn how to learn and how  "},{"startTime":277.6,"endTime":285.68,"body":"can we become learning mentors for our students? "},{"startTime":277.6,"endTime":285.68,"body":"Because a lot of times the way that they think  "},{"startTime":285.68,"endTime":290.72,"body":"that they should be learning is not the way that "},{"startTime":285.68,"endTime":290.72,"body":"science really tells us our brain is wired to do  "},{"startTime":290.72,"endTime":296.24,"body":"it. And similarly, we as educators aren't always "},{"startTime":290.72,"endTime":296.24,"body":"equipped to help mentor them in that way to  "},{"startTime":296.24,"endTime":302.24,"body":"learn that. So, that's what really drew me to this "},{"startTime":296.24,"endTime":302.24,"body":"course because it's very much grounded in the best  "},{"startTime":302.24,"endTime":308.88,"body":"practice of assessment and evaluation, curriculum "},{"startTime":302.24,"endTime":308.88,"body":"mapping, lesson planning. How do you even then  "},{"startTime":308.88,"endTime":314.24,"body":"take that and bring it into the classroom? "},{"startTime":308.88,"endTime":314.24,"body":"And when I say classroom, online, hybrid,  "},{"startTime":314.24,"endTime":321.44,"body":"clinical, simulation, face to face in a way that "},{"startTime":314.24,"endTime":321.44,"body":"is immersive, interactive, and really builds the  "},{"startTime":321.44,"endTime":331.92,"body":"skills around clinical judgment. Yeah. So you "},{"startTime":321.44,"endTime":331.92,"body":"both said so many significant statements about  "},{"startTime":332.88,"endTime":339.36,"body":"what's currently happening in nursing education "},{"startTime":332.88,"endTime":339.36,"body":"around nurse education preparation nurse educator  "},{"startTime":339.36,"endTime":348.24,"body":"I should say how are nurses who are going to "},{"startTime":339.36,"endTime":348.24,"body":"educate prepared and right now our educators  "},{"startTime":348.24,"endTime":356.08,"body":"would enter academia with varying preparation "},{"startTime":348.24,"endTime":356.08,"body":"right so in your experience experience. So  "},{"startTime":356.08,"endTime":362.64,"body":"what are some of the most common challenges "},{"startTime":356.08,"endTime":362.64,"body":"that the nurse educators who registered in  "},{"startTime":362.64,"endTime":370.08,"body":"previous Faculty Intensives courses bring into the "},{"startTime":362.64,"endTime":370.08,"body":"course or even just your regular observations in  "},{"startTime":370.08,"endTime":377.36,"body":"your capacity as as leaders of nursing programs? "},{"startTime":370.08,"endTime":377.36,"body":"What are the challenges that new nurse educators  "},{"startTime":378.08,"endTime":385.68,"body":"present related to their academic preparation or "},{"startTime":378.08,"endTime":385.68,"body":"perhaps their preparation prior to the academic  "},{"startTime":385.68,"endTime":391.68,"body":"world? One thing I love about this course is that "},{"startTime":385.68,"endTime":391.68,"body":"it's not just for the new educator, right? It can  "},{"startTime":391.68,"endTime":396.88,"body":"also be for the experienced educator because "},{"startTime":391.68,"endTime":396.88,"body":"if you look at many of the applications and job  "},{"startTime":396.88,"endTime":401.36,"body":"postings around the country, many times there's "},{"startTime":396.88,"endTime":401.36,"body":"no requirement for formal training and teaching  "},{"startTime":401.36,"endTime":408.32,"body":"and learning, right? So this course can be that. "},{"startTime":401.36,"endTime":408.32,"body":"And again faculty come to academia with lots of  "},{"startTime":408.32,"endTime":413.52,"body":"experience in their expert conditions but going "},{"startTime":408.32,"endTime":413.52,"body":"into a classroom or a lab setting or a clinical  "},{"startTime":413.52,"endTime":419.04,"body":"environment for the first time with no formal "},{"startTime":413.52,"endTime":419.04,"body":"training can be absolutely overwhelming. And  "},{"startTime":419.04,"endTime":424.64,"body":"so this course really walks faculty through that "},{"startTime":419.04,"endTime":424.64,"body":"curriculum structure demystifying all the pieces  "},{"startTime":424.64,"endTime":432.16,"body":"assessment and it allows time for them to have "},{"startTime":424.64,"endTime":432.16,"body":"some small wins and small gains and add more to  "},{"startTime":432.16,"endTime":437.36,"body":"their toolbox to be successful. So they oftentimes "},{"startTime":432.16,"endTime":437.36,"body":"come to the course and say I'm overwhelmed.  "},{"startTime":437.36,"endTime":441.68,"body":"Learners aren't engaged. I don't know how to do "},{"startTime":437.36,"endTime":441.68,"body":"this. I don't know where my curriculum map is. I  "},{"startTime":441.68,"endTime":446.24,"body":"don't understand how to write an objective or how "},{"startTime":441.68,"endTime":446.24,"body":"to look at a test. and we walk them through those  "},{"startTime":446.24,"endTime":452.0,"body":"pieces and really give them time to apply the "},{"startTime":446.24,"endTime":452.0,"body":"concepts and have dialogue about the concepts  "},{"startTime":452.0,"endTime":458.4,"body":"to help them add more tools to their toolbox. "},{"startTime":452.0,"endTime":458.4,"body":"Yeah. Yep. Having that toolbox, right? Because  "},{"startTime":458.4,"endTime":465.52,"body":"and therefore related to the challenges that they "},{"startTime":458.4,"endTime":465.52,"body":"don't have the tools right away and and presenting  "},{"startTime":465.52,"endTime":472.16,"body":"them with a toolbox is is really a great thing. "},{"startTime":465.52,"endTime":472.16,"body":"And you know, you know, talking about the toolbox,  "},{"startTime":472.16,"endTime":477.6,"body":"we have been really privileged and honored "},{"startTime":472.16,"endTime":477.6,"body":"to have educators join us in these faculty  "},{"startTime":477.6,"endTime":482.8,"body":"development sessions and and the cohorts that have "},{"startTime":477.6,"endTime":482.8,"body":"been teaching for many years. So, just like Nicole  "},{"startTime":482.8,"endTime":488.24,"body":"said, it's not for the novice, just for the novice "},{"startTime":482.8,"endTime":488.24,"body":"educator. We've also had educators join us who  "},{"startTime":488.24,"endTime":493.6,"body":"have been teaching 10, 20, upwards of 30 years. "},{"startTime":488.24,"endTime":493.6,"body":"And it's so interesting because more often than  "},{"startTime":493.6,"endTime":498.88,"body":"not, they'll say, \"Oh, well, I've learned new "},{"startTime":493.6,"endTime":498.88,"body":"things. I've learned some new tools to put in  "},{"startTime":498.88,"endTime":504.08,"body":"my toolbox or now I understand why I've been doing "},{"startTime":498.88,"endTime":504.08,"body":"the things that I've been doing which now allows  "},{"startTime":504.08,"endTime":509.12,"body":"them to communicate that to their learners and "},{"startTime":504.08,"endTime":509.12,"body":"explain why, which then translates to buy-in and  "},{"startTime":509.12,"endTime":515.84,"body":"less push back and there's also things too that "},{"startTime":509.12,"endTime":515.84,"body":"even if you've been an educator for a while we  "},{"startTime":515.84,"endTime":521.28,"body":"also dive into this changing landscape of academia "},{"startTime":515.84,"endTime":521.28,"body":"we all know that it's constantly changing and so  "},{"startTime":521.28,"endTime":527.12,"body":"as the course has evolved over the years it also "},{"startTime":521.28,"endTime":527.12,"body":"has been really trying to stay ahead head of some  "},{"startTime":527.12,"endTime":531.84,"body":"of the changes in academia. So we talk about "},{"startTime":527.12,"endTime":531.84,"body":"competency based education, we talk about AI,  "},{"startTime":531.84,"endTime":540.16,"body":"we talk about some of the nuanced legal and "},{"startTime":531.84,"endTime":540.16,"body":"academic challenges that we will face as educators  "},{"startTime":540.16,"endTime":545.28,"body":"socializing into the role. How do we lead from "},{"startTime":540.16,"endTime":545.28,"body":"where we are? Because many of us may not even step  "},{"startTime":545.28,"endTime":550.96,"body":"into administrative roles or formal leadership "},{"startTime":545.28,"endTime":550.96,"body":"roles, but we can lead from where we are and we  "},{"startTime":550.96,"endTime":555.52,"body":"can affect change in our institutions from the "},{"startTime":550.96,"endTime":555.52,"body":"roles that we hold. And so we even talk about  "},{"startTime":555.52,"endTime":562.08,"body":"that as well. And so it's really nice because "},{"startTime":555.52,"endTime":562.08,"body":"we often see a spectrum of educators join us  "},{"startTime":562.08,"endTime":567.76,"body":"from the very new like Nicole talked about they're "},{"startTime":562.08,"endTime":567.76,"body":"trying to figure out how to write an objective and  "},{"startTime":567.76,"endTime":573.52,"body":"you know develop a lesson to the folks who have "},{"startTime":567.76,"endTime":573.52,"body":"been teaching a while and are now navigating new  "},{"startTime":573.52,"endTime":582.08,"body":"challenges in academia and looking to one find "},{"startTime":573.52,"endTime":582.08,"body":"some validation and a community of practice as  "},{"startTime":582.08,"endTime":590.48,"body":"well as new ideas and new tools. Yeah. And and "},{"startTime":582.08,"endTime":590.48,"body":"that brings to the attention of of everyone all of  "},{"startTime":590.48,"endTime":599.52,"body":"us as educators the fact that we might be able to "},{"startTime":590.48,"endTime":599.52,"body":"master some of the things that educators would do.  "},{"startTime":599.52,"endTime":606.16,"body":"Write exams, teach in the classroom, facilitate "},{"startTime":599.52,"endTime":606.16,"body":"learning experiences, but more often than not,  "},{"startTime":606.16,"endTime":614.4,"body":"do we know the pedagogies around those things "},{"startTime":606.16,"endTime":614.4,"body":"or or evidence or theoretical explanations of  "},{"startTime":614.4,"endTime":622.48,"body":"the things we do? And I think the buy-in is very "},{"startTime":614.4,"endTime":622.48,"body":"important like why are we doing this knowing that  "},{"startTime":622.48,"endTime":634.08,"body":"is really kind of important and I am certain this "},{"startTime":622.48,"endTime":634.08,"body":"course really hones that in during the 12 weeks of  "},{"startTime":634.08,"endTime":640.96,"body":"interactions as asynchronous and then "},{"startTime":634.08,"endTime":640.96,"body":"synchronous sessions that you all have. So  "},{"startTime":642.16,"endTime":652.72,"body":"in your years of facilitating this course, can you "},{"startTime":642.16,"endTime":652.72,"body":"share stories or or examples of what participants  "},{"startTime":652.72,"endTime":662.08,"body":"say or shared with you with how they have grown "},{"startTime":652.72,"endTime":662.08,"body":"or transformed because of the course. You know,  "},{"startTime":662.08,"endTime":667.04,"body":"one of my favorite aspects of this course is the "},{"startTime":662.08,"endTime":667.04,"body":"community of practice that's built and it endures  "},{"startTime":667.04,"endTime":672.0,"body":"long beyond the time that we all are together. "},{"startTime":667.04,"endTime":672.0,"body":"And so we've heard that some cohorts stay in  "},{"startTime":672.0,"endTime":677.68,"body":"touch and many of our colleagues that are in the "},{"startTime":672.0,"endTime":677.68,"body":"courses will continue to stay in touch with us  "},{"startTime":677.68,"endTime":681.76,"body":"long after the courses end. And so some of "},{"startTime":677.68,"endTime":681.76,"body":"the things that we've heard that have just  "},{"startTime":681.76,"endTime":687.04,"body":"been really inspiring and encouraging are folks "},{"startTime":681.76,"endTime":687.04,"body":"that will email us back and share with us some of  "},{"startTime":687.04,"endTime":692.56,"body":"these new teaching techniques or approaches that "},{"startTime":687.04,"endTime":692.56,"body":"they're trying out in their academic practice.  "},{"startTime":692.56,"endTime":699.04,"body":"You know, most recently we had one of our cohort "},{"startTime":692.56,"endTime":699.04,"body":"participants say, you know, I she was relatively  "},{"startTime":699.04,"endTime":704.72,"body":"newer. She'd been teaching for several years, but "},{"startTime":699.04,"endTime":704.72,"body":"had gained some new tools and shifted her paradigm  "},{"startTime":704.72,"endTime":711.04,"body":"a bit on her approach to teaching. And she had "},{"startTime":704.72,"endTime":711.04,"body":"been awarded two teaching awards, one from her  "},{"startTime":711.04,"endTime":716.24,"body":"colleagues and the other from the students. And "},{"startTime":711.04,"endTime":716.24,"body":"you know, it's great to always be recognized by  "},{"startTime":716.24,"endTime":720.8,"body":"your colleagues, but man, does it mean something "},{"startTime":716.24,"endTime":720.8,"body":"when the students recognize you as adding value to  "},{"startTime":720.8,"endTime":726.48,"body":"their learning experience. And so that was really "},{"startTime":720.8,"endTime":726.48,"body":"special to hear. There's folks that will come back  "},{"startTime":726.48,"endTime":732.4,"body":"and say, you know, they use this as a building "},{"startTime":726.48,"endTime":732.4,"body":"block in their trajectory towards certification.  "},{"startTime":732.4,"endTime":737.84,"body":"And I and just as a disclaimer, this course is "},{"startTime":732.4,"endTime":737.84,"body":"not meant to be a certification prep course.  "},{"startTime":738.48,"endTime":745.76,"body":"However it is very much rooted and aligned with an "},{"startTime":738.48,"endTime":745.76,"body":"NLN core competencies educator core competencies  "},{"startTime":745.76,"endTime":752.16,"body":"and so it becomes a resource for folks who are "},{"startTime":745.76,"endTime":752.16,"body":"trying to elevate their practice as an educator  "},{"startTime":752.16,"endTime":757.52,"body":"and it helps with that that path. I think finally "},{"startTime":752.16,"endTime":757.52,"body":"you know one of the most heartwarming ones that  "},{"startTime":757.52,"endTime":762.8,"body":"we had and Nicole you this may stand out to you as "},{"startTime":757.52,"endTime":762.8,"body":"well. It was in our last cohort of an educator who  "},{"startTime":762.8,"endTime":768.8,"body":"is very seasoned, a wonderful educator clearly "},{"startTime":762.8,"endTime":768.8,"body":"had touched a lot of lives over the years and  "},{"startTime":768.8,"endTime":773.92,"body":"was at a moment in her career where she was really "},{"startTime":768.8,"endTime":773.92,"body":"questioning whether she wanted to stay in academia  "},{"startTime":773.92,"endTime":781.04,"body":"and she you know joined this course and through "},{"startTime":773.92,"endTime":781.04,"body":"the support of her colleagues that were her in  "},{"startTime":781.04,"endTime":786.8,"body":"her cohort and the conversations and the dialogue "},{"startTime":781.04,"endTime":786.8,"body":"she really started re-evaluating whether she was  "},{"startTime":786.8,"endTime":792.96,"body":"leaving academia. And that was so touching to "},{"startTime":786.8,"endTime":792.96,"body":"me because we almost lost a really good educator  "},{"startTime":792.96,"endTime":800.08,"body":"that hopefully maybe you know I think a lot of us "},{"startTime":792.96,"endTime":800.08,"body":"sometimes feel on an island or sometimes you know  "},{"startTime":800.08,"endTime":808.08,"body":"we may as an educator really need the value of "},{"startTime":800.08,"endTime":808.08,"body":"someone's outside perspective to help us and I  "},{"startTime":808.08,"endTime":816.56,"body":"think this course offers that too as as a form of "},{"startTime":808.08,"endTime":816.56,"body":"validation and new perspectives from others and so  "},{"startTime":816.56,"endTime":822.4,"body":"she really wanted to re-evaluate and she's staying "},{"startTime":816.56,"endTime":822.4,"body":"in education for now and so that was really  "},{"startTime":822.4,"endTime":829.44,"body":"heartwarming those stories for me as well Rachel "},{"startTime":822.4,"endTime":829.44,"body":"and I think the beauty of us spending the months  "},{"startTime":829.44,"endTime":833.44,"body":"together with this course in the asynchronous "},{"startTime":829.44,"endTime":833.44,"body":"format and then coming together in a synchronous  "},{"startTime":833.44,"endTime":838.8,"body":"fashion is we begin to see those shifts and our "},{"startTime":833.44,"endTime":838.8,"body":"colleagues right as as we begin to they learn new  "},{"startTime":838.8,"endTime":844.24,"body":"things and try new tools and they begin to really "},{"startTime":838.8,"endTime":844.24,"body":"transform their teaching philosophy no matter how  "},{"startTime":844.24,"endTime":848.8,"body":"long they've been teaching and so that's beautiful "},{"startTime":844.24,"endTime":848.8,"body":"to see how far they've come from where they start  "},{"startTime":848.8,"endTime":854.56,"body":"out when they they join with us to the very "},{"startTime":848.8,"endTime":854.56,"body":"end of our time together. So yeah and and I  "},{"startTime":854.56,"endTime":862.24,"body":"think those stories are very powerful and for "},{"startTime":854.56,"endTime":862.24,"body":"me we always have this vision of transforming  "},{"startTime":862.24,"endTime":868.56,"body":"nursing education but I also believe that this "},{"startTime":862.24,"endTime":868.56,"body":"transformation needs would have to start from  "},{"startTime":868.56,"endTime":878.56,"body":"faculty members from the educators themselves. "},{"startTime":868.56,"endTime":878.56,"body":"So therefore seeing this transformation among  "},{"startTime":878.56,"endTime":886.48,"body":"individual participants do we see any potential "},{"startTime":878.56,"endTime":886.48,"body":"impact to transform not just individual faculty  "},{"startTime":886.48,"endTime":893.04,"body":"members but institutions as well? Absolutely. One of "},{"startTime":939.36,"endTime":946.48,"body":"my favorite stories about how one educator at one  "},{"startTime":946.48,"endTime":952.8,"body":"institution can make transformative change was "},{"startTime":946.48,"endTime":952.8,"body":"when the educator started trying out low-hanging  "},{"startTime":952.8,"endTime":958.96,"body":"fruit, just some small wins in their classroom "},{"startTime":952.8,"endTime":958.96,"body":"that were based on the science of best practice  "},{"startTime":958.96,"endTime":965.44,"body":"of teaching and they had small wins and gains that "},{"startTime":958.96,"endTime":965.44,"body":"positively impacted the learners and it was the  "},{"startTime":965.44,"endTime":970.08,"body":"learners who drove the change. Right? Because and "},{"startTime":965.44,"endTime":970.08,"body":"it may not be right. The the day you plant and we  "},{"startTime":970.08,"endTime":974.16,"body":"talk about this in the course, the day you plant "},{"startTime":970.08,"endTime":974.16,"body":"the seed is not the day you pick the fruit. And so  "},{"startTime":974.16,"endTime":980.08,"body":"they're going to be in that class, those educators "},{"startTime":974.16,"endTime":980.08,"body":"are going to be just trying it out, trying it out,  "},{"startTime":980.08,"endTime":984.56,"body":"you know, going through the grind and they may "},{"startTime":980.08,"endTime":984.56,"body":"not see that payoff right away, but where we do  "},{"startTime":984.56,"endTime":989.84,"body":"and in the story that I'm sharing it paid off was "},{"startTime":984.56,"endTime":989.84,"body":"then the learners who were positively impacted by  "},{"startTime":989.84,"endTime":994.16,"body":"that and thought and saw experienced, oh wow, "},{"startTime":989.84,"endTime":994.16,"body":"this really is helping me make connections in  "},{"startTime":994.16,"endTime":999.28,"body":"the classroom. Oh, I am actually or connections in "},{"startTime":994.16,"endTime":999.28,"body":"the clinical too. I am really seeing a difference  "},{"startTime":999.28,"endTime":1005.52,"body":"on my scores and understanding on my tests and "},{"startTime":999.28,"endTime":1005.52,"body":"and in my patient practice that shows up then  "},{"startTime":1005.52,"endTime":1009.92,"body":"on an evaluation. And so this educator who was "},{"startTime":1005.52,"endTime":1009.92,"body":"trying these things out, not always, you know,  "},{"startTime":1009.92,"endTime":1015.44,"body":"seeing the immediate reward had an educator come "},{"startTime":1009.92,"endTime":1015.44,"body":"to them and say, \"I got this strange comment on my  "},{"startTime":1015.44,"endTime":1021.36,"body":"eval from last semester that said, I really wish "},{"startTime":1015.44,"endTime":1021.36,"body":"that so and so would start doing these activities  "},{"startTime":1021.36,"endTime":1028.08,"body":"that Dr. So-and-so did in her class. Can you tell "},{"startTime":1021.36,"endTime":1028.08,"body":"me about that? And that educator said, \"Sure,  "},{"startTime":1028.08,"endTime":1033.2,"body":"how about you come to my class and watch?\" And "},{"startTime":1028.08,"endTime":1033.2,"body":"that's how it started to spread by the students  "},{"startTime":1033.2,"endTime":1037.84,"body":"really sharing their voices. And we know in "},{"startTime":1033.2,"endTime":1037.84,"body":"in academia, it's really the student voices  "},{"startTime":1037.84,"endTime":1043.36,"body":"that can affect most change. And so, you know, "},{"startTime":1037.84,"endTime":1043.36,"body":"being consistent, picking the low-hanging fruit,  "},{"startTime":1043.36,"endTime":1048.96,"body":"showing up, you know, really leaning into your "},{"startTime":1043.36,"endTime":1048.96,"body":"teaching philosophy and living that out will  "},{"startTime":1048.96,"endTime":1053.36,"body":"reap the fruit with the learners who then spread "},{"startTime":1048.96,"endTime":1053.36,"body":"that through, you know, talk and they, you know,  "},{"startTime":1053.36,"endTime":1059.76,"body":"they talk through their evals and that then will "},{"startTime":1053.36,"endTime":1059.76,"body":"really put a ball in motion for others to say,  "},{"startTime":1059.76,"endTime":1063.44,"body":"try and get on board with that train. What is it "},{"startTime":1059.76,"endTime":1063.44,"body":"that you're doing in your class that students love  "},{"startTime":1063.44,"endTime":1070.24,"body":"this class? They love how this is taught and you "},{"startTime":1063.44,"endTime":1070.24,"body":"get by in that way and it happens right and that  "},{"startTime":1070.24,"endTime":1081.52,"body":"shows the power of students in driving change and "},{"startTime":1070.24,"endTime":1081.52,"body":"we've seen that so many times we satisfy students  "},{"startTime":1081.52,"endTime":1088.8,"body":"well that's basic but then in the long run if "},{"startTime":1081.52,"endTime":1088.8,"body":"we can see how they're driving learning outcomes  "},{"startTime":1088.8,"endTime":1098.64,"body":"then that's a very powerful driver of change in "},{"startTime":1088.8,"endTime":1098.64,"body":"institutions as Well, and you're both leaders in  "},{"startTime":1098.64,"endTime":1109.84,"body":"your various organizations. How can our leaders "},{"startTime":1098.64,"endTime":1109.84,"body":"in various programs use this course for example  "},{"startTime":1109.84,"endTime":1116.72,"body":"as part of a broader strategy to strengthen their "},{"startTime":1109.84,"endTime":1116.72,"body":"nursing programs, teaching excellence and and even  "},{"startTime":1116.72,"endTime":1123.76,"body":"faculty retention. I think this course could "},{"startTime":1116.72,"endTime":1123.76,"body":"be used for onboarding of new faculty, ongoing  "},{"startTime":1123.76,"endTime":1130.72,"body":"faculty development. I think if leaders take a "},{"startTime":1123.76,"endTime":1130.72,"body":"stance and say support their faculty to engage in  "},{"startTime":1130.72,"endTime":1136.24,"body":"this course, they're making a statement that good "},{"startTime":1130.72,"endTime":1136.24,"body":"teaching matters, right? In addition to service  "},{"startTime":1136.24,"endTime":1140.56,"body":"and scholarship, but that if we build on teaching "},{"startTime":1136.24,"endTime":1140.56,"body":"excellence, we are supporting our students,  "},{"startTime":1140.56,"endTime":1145.76,"body":"we're supporting ourselves. So and that drives home the point "},{"startTime":1145.76,"endTime":1155.84,"body":"of good teaching does not just happen. We need to do something  "},{"startTime":1179.04,"endTime":1190.4,"body":"great. And and now what advice would you give our "},{"startTime":1179.04,"endTime":1190.4,"body":"nurse educators who are hesitant about taking the  "},{"startTime":1190.4,"endTime":1197.2,"body":"Faculty Intensives course? Oh, it's it's too "},{"startTime":1190.4,"endTime":1197.2,"body":"long or I don't have the time and and so many  "},{"startTime":1197.2,"endTime":1205.2,"body":"other challenges that that we have to further our "},{"startTime":1197.2,"endTime":1205.2,"body":"skills or our competencies as nurse educators.  "},{"startTime":1206.72,"endTime":1212.72,"body":"Well, I think I would really highlight I think a "},{"startTime":1206.72,"endTime":1212.72,"body":"beauty and a strength of this course is the hybrid  "},{"startTime":1212.72,"endTime":1217.68,"body":"nature of it, right? So, we've designed it in a "},{"startTime":1212.72,"endTime":1217.68,"body":"way that part of it, you know, the asynchronous  "},{"startTime":1217.68,"endTime":1223.04,"body":"modules are very self-paced. I'll just add that  "},{"startTime":1298.96,"endTime":1304.8,"body":"one thing that we often hear participants say is, "},{"startTime":1298.96,"endTime":1304.8,"body":"\"I wish I had this course sooner.\" Mhm. Whether  "},{"startTime":1304.8,"endTime":1309.68,"body":"they are brand new starting and been there a month "},{"startTime":1304.8,"endTime":1309.68,"body":"or they have been there for years. So my advice  "},{"startTime":1309.68,"endTime":1315.36,"body":"would be don't wait even if you feel stretched or "},{"startTime":1309.68,"endTime":1315.36,"body":"short on time that we all are. This course really  "},{"startTime":1315.36,"endTime":1321.04,"body":"meets participants where they are and we have "},{"startTime":1315.36,"endTime":1321.04,"body":"strategies small strategies that you can apply  "},{"startTime":1321.04,"endTime":1326.16,"body":"when you're ready. But the community that we build "},{"startTime":1321.04,"endTime":1326.16,"body":"and the resources that are shared are invaluable  "},{"startTime":1326.16,"endTime":1332.8,"body":"to teaching practice and really creates a roadmap "},{"startTime":1326.16,"endTime":1332.8,"body":"for success in the faculty role. And I think,  "},{"startTime":1332.8,"endTime":1336.56,"body":"you know, and I'm thinking and reflecting on that "},{"startTime":1332.8,"endTime":1336.56,"body":"comment, Nicole, that we do hear a lot, which is,  "},{"startTime":1336.56,"endTime":1341.12,"body":"\"I wish I had this course sooner.\" And if I think "},{"startTime":1336.56,"endTime":1341.12,"body":"about that in my own practice, had I had a course  "},{"startTime":1341.12,"endTime":1345.36,"body":"like this, I would have saved myself a lot of "},{"startTime":1341.12,"endTime":1345.36,"body":"time, a lot of time trying to undo the things  "},{"startTime":1345.36,"endTime":1351.2,"body":"that I probably shouldn't have done. And learning "},{"startTime":1345.36,"endTime":1351.2,"body":"from mistakes and learning from, you know, doing  "},{"startTime":1351.2,"endTime":1357.36,"body":"it probably in an inefficient way that then I had "},{"startTime":1351.2,"endTime":1357.36,"body":"to, you know, backtrack on. So you know an ounce  "},{"startTime":1357.36,"endTime":1364.8,"body":"of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. "},{"startTime":1357.36,"endTime":1364.8,"body":"So I think in a way equipping ourselves with these  "},{"startTime":1364.8,"endTime":1370.32,"body":"skills, equipping ourselves with the knowledge and "},{"startTime":1364.8,"endTime":1370.32,"body":"understanding of how do you align tightly align  "},{"startTime":1370.32,"endTime":1377.12,"body":"closely align outcomes that are driving teaching "},{"startTime":1370.32,"endTime":1377.12,"body":"strategies that are tied to evaluation methods  "},{"startTime":1377.12,"endTime":1385.6,"body":"that make sense and lead to durable learning "},{"startTime":1377.12,"endTime":1385.6,"body":"and building of clinical judgment. All of  "},{"startTime":1385.6,"endTime":1392.72,"body":"those things actually makes you more efficient "},{"startTime":1385.6,"endTime":1392.72,"body":"as an educator I think. And I think that ties  "},{"startTime":1392.72,"endTime":1398.24,"body":"back to your question, Raquel, if we go back to as "},{"startTime":1392.72,"endTime":1398.24,"body":"administrators, what would you tell administrators  "},{"startTime":1398.24,"endTime":1406.0,"body":"and some of these things that are built into this "},{"startTime":1398.24,"endTime":1406.0,"body":"course around curriculum mapping and understanding  "},{"startTime":1406.0,"endTime":1413.2,"body":"verticality and horizontal alignment and building, "},{"startTime":1406.0,"endTime":1413.2,"body":"you know, tight lessons that have outcomes that  "},{"startTime":1413.2,"endTime":1419.44,"body":"drive evaluation. that pays off tenfold when it "},{"startTime":1413.2,"endTime":1419.44,"body":"comes to time for accreditation and self-study  "},{"startTime":1419.44,"endTime":1426.16,"body":"and having a workforce of educators that really "},{"startTime":1419.44,"endTime":1426.16,"body":"can speak to the pedagogy of what's going on at  "},{"startTime":1426.16,"endTime":1436.72,"body":"your institution. And how that thinking can transfer  "},{"startTime":1555.04,"endTime":1562.48,"body":"to other contexts in other environments. And the "},{"startTime":1555.04,"endTime":1562.48,"body":"ability to make thinking visible and to focus on  "},{"startTime":1562.48,"endTime":1569.68,"body":"the cognitive functions that build into clinical "},{"startTime":1562.48,"endTime":1569.68,"body":"judgment is an art and a skill.
