She was quickly promoted to superintendent "},{"startTime":150.48,"endTime":156.88,"body":"of nurses and the principal of the training  "},{"startTime":156.88,"endTime":163.44,"body":"school. She brought structure and rigor to the "},{"startTime":156.88,"endTime":163.44,"body":"training program, creating positive and more  "},{"startTime":163.44,"endTime":169.84,"body":"formalized standards. She was one of the founders of "},{"startTime":213.28,"endTime":222.72,"body":"the American Journal of Nursing in 1900. In 1903,  "},{"startTime":222.72,"endTime":228.48,"body":"she took on the role of the first president "},{"startTime":222.72,"endTime":228.48,"body":"of the newly created State Association of  "},{"startTime":228.48,"endTime":235.28,"body":"Graduate Nurses in Maryland and collaborated with "},{"startTime":228.48,"endTime":235.28,"body":"colleagues to draft the first nurse practice law  "},{"startTime":235.28,"endTime":242.32,"body":"in Maryland. She led the nursing "},{"startTime":407.12,"endTime":414.56,"body":"community for over 30 years and her influence  "},{"startTime":414.56,"endTime":422.88,"body":"on the field is still greatly felt today.
