This week we are in the back of a pickup truck on the side of a backroad that borders some public land where a few turkeys live. We discuss our scouting trip that morning. We talk about what all we observed on a March morning that started out as a dreary dawn but sprouted into a beautiful sunny day on the eve of Spring. We also discuss one of Rhett's turkey stories where 2 gobblers out played him on a high point not too far from where this episode was recorded. Additionally, Mason tells about spotting a flock of turkeys on his way home from work several times in the past week and how he is going to attempt to get permission from the landowner to try and hunt!
In our study of the living word we start Chapter 6 of Matthew. Jesus tells us that we should give in secret without drawing attention to ourselves. He says that we should not let our left hand know what our right is doing. This seems simple in itself, but our sinful nature constantly wants us to draw attention to ourselves instead of giving God the glory. Jesus says the Father sees what is done in secret and rewards what is done in secret! We hope the words of Jesus will bring holy conviction on everyone, including ourselves, and as a result we pray we would be more faithful and dedicated to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!
