My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
—John 10:27 ESV
If you didn’t know, my husband and I have a little hobby farm in Georgia. We have three dogs, a parrot, and three baby goats.
Yes, I know what the Bible says about sheep and goats. To be honest, it stings my soul a bit, I love my baby goats!
Yet, at the same time, I can clearly understand why God’s Word separates them. Sheep are prone to listen to their master. Sheep will follow the lead of their shepherd as they look to him for provision and protection
Goats…not so much.
In fact, I am most at risk of saying naughty words when I’m trying to get my adorable little goats to do (or not do) something.
Friend, the struggle is REAL!
Nevertheless, the revelation of this visible difference between the sheep and goats has caused me to indeed pause and consider the words of Jesus in John 10:27.
Am I a good sheep?
Am I a good listener?
Do I follow my Shepherd?
Let’s start the year off by pausing and praying about our listening and following skills.
